The answer to 8 is an envelope, the answer to 9 is the letter "e", and the answer to 11 is silence. I know several of these riddles, but I've never seen the last one before; my first thought was poverty, but I'm pretty sure that's not it.

Here's one:

There are three switches. One turns on a light in another room, the other two don't do anything. You are allowed to be in the room with the switches for five minutes, and after you go to the lightbulb room, you may observe the condition of the light, and then must immediately determine which switch turns on the light. What is the best strategy for determining the switch that turns the light on? Remember, you may not go back to the room with the switches after observing the condition of the light.

I know this one!

You flip one switch and keep it on for most of your time. Then when your time is almost up you flip it off and flip a different one. Then you go to the other room. If it is on then you know it was the second switch that you flipped. If it is off then you feel the lightbulb and if it is hot then you know it was the first switch. If it isn't then it is the switch that you didn't touch.
