CB Name Meanings!

CB Name Meanings!

Pretty self-explanatory; what does your name on the CB mean, how did you choose it, things like that? A lot of you have really cool names.

I'll start! My name, Blackfooted Bobcat, is a mix of "blackfooted cat" and bobcat".  I like both of those cats, and there are... a few bobcats that are returning to where I live. Anyone else?

A friend came up with my name I think in 2019, and I was Emekittycon K, and I thought "What goes with my CB name? KITTEN!!" and I added the kitten part, 'cause I like cats.

If y'all could see my house, you'd see Bob, and Jenny, and Theodore, and Gidget... *Goes on and on 'bout my cats*

When I first got to the CB I was VERY confused about, well, everything, so I just put Caroline because underneath the name box it says First name last initial so I put my first name. I didn't know that people had special names on here. Also my irl name is Caroline because that's what my great grandmas name was.

It's inspired by birds --bluejays in specific-- and flowers, bluebells. Take the "blue" out of each and there you go "Jay-bells".

I sorta visualize myself as pink and blue (+obsessed with other-worlds/flight and nature in general) on the CB, so bluejays and bluebells(which sorta seem more like blueberries to me, actually, but Jayberry doesn't have the same ring to it) for the blue, and "Jay" just sounds like a hot-pink letter/syllable, so there's the pink.

And finally, it was a modified spelling of one of my weirder nicknames which has an entirely different etymology. I honestly don't remember exactly why/how I got that one.

For some reason saying/thinking "Jaybells" tastes like bubblegum and a cool refreshing breeze that you can feel the ice in, and feels like the sun (not too hot) and jelly-bubble-thingies. It sounds bouncy and squishy and energetic and maybe chewy too. It has wings and skitters away on the wind like a stiff, curled, browned autumn-leaf bouncing and making a scuttling sound when you say it.

Honestly, phoenixes are...just awesome, I guess. They're FIRE BIRDS. They have the power of flight and fire, and they're...kinda immortal. When they die, they go on this incredibly long journey and explode in a puff of flames and a new, baby phoenix comes out of the ashes. They're fierce, and proud, and fiesty.

In some stories (Harry Potter, for one) the tears of phoenixes have magical healing powers. But really, I just like the idea of something so strong being so fragile. It's like, no one can be perfect and couragous all the time, and it's okay to be sad, but getting back up after you fall is important too.

And can you imagine how cool tears would look on a phoenix? The phoenix is bright red, and sparking, and the tears are all iridesent and purpley-blue...

(There's also the fact that if somebody offered me the chance to be a phoenix, I'd definitely say yes)

I don't really have a clear explanation of my name. It's more of a play on words, I guess! I've always been a huge fan of plants and flowers, and I surprisingly found a nice flower that has my name included in it! It's "hollyhock"! And I really didn't want to go under the plant "holly" because I wanted something extra.

I realistically have no idea where the "s" came from, but y'know.. It sounds pretty okay and I like it! The name really isn't too interesting like some others, but I personally really like it! Maybe I'll eventually go through a name change, but I'm pretty comfortable with mine at the moment.

It's not much of a really exciting story, sorry!

Well, my name took about a month of stalking the CB to make sure nobody else took it. It was always supposed to be the name of my favorite flower, Tigerlily, but for the life of me I could not remember what it was called. I looked up some red flowers and chose "Firelily", thinking that was the name of my favorite flower. Only hours later, I remembered. By then it was too late XD

...Yeah

My go-to online username, Darkling, remains one of the Great Mysteries of my Brain because I have literally no idea why I chose this name. No recollection at all. I posted like maybe twice a reallly long time ago under the name "Pandakitten" or something like that, and then I forgot about the CB for some years, and now I can only remember posting as Darkling and not knowing why. I know there was someone called The Darkling in Shadow and Bone, one of the Grishaverse novels, (add that to the list of books I've never finished), but i hadn't heard of those until way after my mysterious CB name came about.

I'm still confused.

My name (Rainbow) comes from my WoF OC... Wow, that's unexpected for me... *heh heh* Rainbow is a hybrid, but of 4 tribes! Lety's see if I can remember them all..... She's a Rain-Night-Sea-SandWing hybird, I think? Rainbow was a name that could be a combination of all, pretty sure. Also, I just love rainbows.... I am sorta thinking whether to change it to 'Rainbow Pandemonium', but it just doesn't sound right.... Back to the WOF oc Rainbow. My friend (V) and I came up with our own ocs (hers is named Firework) and a little back story about there are all these hybrids, often with more than two, who all live together at the very bottom of Pyrrhia, underneath the rainforest. :) So.... Yeah. That's my name!

I chose the name Poinsettia because I think it suits my personality and I like the sound of the word. I also looove poinsettia flowers... they're red and vivid, and they bloom around Christmas time - and I associate them with Mexico, a country I love.

Well, I chose the name Amethyst because I love jewels and I like the color purple... also I think it suits me! :) Furthermore, the sound of it is really nice.

This might be useful for new CBers, so they can explain how they thought of their names, so top!
