The Sunset Group!

I'm so glad that we got paired together for this :D We've been on the CB for around the same amount of time and I've always enjoyed interacting with you!

Okay, to start off, I noticed that you said you liked Six of Crows, which is also one of my favorite book series! What's your favorite character/ship from SoC?

Also, I love Lin Manuel Miranda and Taylor Swift as well- do you have favorite songs/albums/projects for either of them?

I look forward to getting to know you better :)

Hey Silver!! I'm so sorry for not responding right away, I'll try to be better about that in the future.

Yes, Six of Crows is one of my favorite books! If I'm remembering correctly, you were the one who recommended it to me in the first place, so thank you! My favorite ship is Wesper, no question about that, and my favorite character is either Inej or Nina...can't choose between the two of them. How about you?

I used to listen to Taylor Swift a lot more than I do now, mainly because I haven't had as much time to listen to music lately, but I love You Need To Calm Down, ME!, invisible string, Death by a Thousand Cuts, cardigan, and many more I'm forgetting right now.

And I am absolutely obsessed Hamilton~ I know all the words by heart and I saw it on Broadway in February? I think? I don't have *one* favorite song, but I love My Shot, The Schuyler Sisters, Satisfied, Non-Stop, Hurricane, The Reynolds Pamphlet, and Blow Us All Away. I'm pretty sure you've said you're a Hamilfan before - do you have a favorite song(s)?

What books have you been reading lately? I just finished A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee this weekend and oh my goodness it was so good and gave me chills but in a good sort of way I guess? Right now, I'm reading Aurora's End, the final book in the Aurora Cycle. I highly recommend them both.

Well, this is getting long, and so I'll end it here. Again, sorry for the late reply, and I'm excited to get to know you better!

Hi!!

I loveee Six of Crows! The world building and character devlopment is *chefs kiss*. My favorite couple has always been Kaz and Inej (but Wesper is adorable!). My favorite character is probably Inej, with Nina as a runner up.

I used to listen to a lot of Taylor Swift's old stuff but I've recently transitioned to her newest albums- my favorite of which is probably folklore or Fearless (Taylor's Version)- I loveeee the Taylor's Versions!!

Oh yessss I love Hamilton!! I've seen the show once on Broadway and I'm seeing it again this summer! I've also watched the Disney Plus recording of it like five or six times. My favorite songs are probably Satisfied, the Schuyler Sisters, My Shot, Burn, and Non-Stop, but I love them all! I also just read a historical fiction novel called My Dear Hamilton, which is from Eliza's point of view, and it was really, really interesting to compare to the musical.

I haven't heard of any of those books, but I have read the Illuminae Files, which is by the same authors as the Aurora Cycle (the first book is Illuminae- Id reccomend if you haven't already read it). Usually I read a lot more than I am now, but because of school and whatnot I don't really have the time :( The last book I read was probably Code Name Verity, which is historical fiction about a woman pilot during WW2. It was really good, I highly reccomend. Before that, I was finishing reading the Star Wars: the High Republic series (if you didn't know, I'm a little bit obsessed with Star Wars- also happy Star Wars Day!).

Anyway, this is very long but I'll ask a few questions here: What's your favorite Disney movie/soundtrack? Opinion on pineapple on pizza? Favorite stand-alone book?

Sorry for the length of this, but I'm happy that we can talk now and get to know each other :D

Hi!

Kaz and Inej is probably my second favorite ship, and I agree with everything you said about the worldbuilding and character development. I think the worldbuilding is what got me interested in the story in the first place. Do you have a favorite between Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom? I can't choose - they're both really different, but I think I did enjoy reading Crooked Kingdom more because I was already familiar with the characters and places but again, I can't decide.

I'll have to check out the books you mentioned! My Dear Hamilton sounds really interesting. I started reading Eliza Hamilton's biography by Tilar J. Mazzeo but I don't think I ever finished it (I should though...). I've heard of the Illuminae Files, but have never read them. Once I finish Aurora's End, I'll check it out.

Happy belated Star Wars day! I'm not a *huge* Star Wars fan, but I've watched the movies a couple of times. Do you have a favorite movie? I've always liked Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

For favorite Disney movie, I'll have to go with Moana, but Encanto's soundtrack is my favorite. I've had What Else Can I Do? stuck in my head all day.... I don't really like pineapple on pizza, but I'm always open to being persuaded. What do you think about it?

Aargh, I can never choose a favorite book. Some of my favorite stand alones are When You Reach Me, The Girl Who Drank the Moon, and Some Kind of Happiness. Do you have any favorite stand alone books?

I guess I'll end here. I'm excited to get to know more about you!

Heyyy! Sorry this is a little late :3

I don't think that I could choose between Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom- but if I had too I would probably say SoC, purely because it's so iconic. Have you read any other of the Grishaverse books (Shadow and Bone, King of Scars, etc)? I have, but SoC still reigns supreme, obviously.

Okay I actually can't possibly choose my favorite Star Wars movie- but I CAN tell you my top 5 peices of Star Wars media: A New Hope, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, the Clone Wars TV Show, and the Mandalorian. I could go in a lot more detailed but then this would get wayyy to long lol

Okay hear me out:  Pinapple is really good. And so is pizza. So why not put it together?? I don't know why it's so controversial- some people don't like it, sure, but that's true with every food, so. Anyway. As you can see, I have lots of Opinions XD

As for my favorite standalone book, I'll say the Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien. I've read When You Reach Me (which was really good!) and the Girl Who Drank the Moon (which was also good although I don't remember much of it).

New round of questions! Opinion on Harry Potter? Have any pets? Favorite school subject?

Can't wait to hear from you :D

Ahh oh my goodness I am terrible at responding in a timely manner, I am so sorry.

I haven't read any other Grishaverse books, but I'd like to. I want to read the Shadow and Bone trilogy so I can watch the TV series. Have you seen the show? Which other books from the Grishaverse have you read/which do you recommend I read first?

That's a good point about pineapple and pizza, however, not all things that are good by themselves should be put together. For example, ice cream and ranch dressing. But yeah, I honestly don't know why there's such a debate over pineapple on pizza. And I've never read the Silmarillion, but I'll have to check it out!

Harry Potter, huh? I first read the series in 3rd or 4th grade, and it was the first fandom I really got obsessed with, and many of my friends still love it, so there'll always be a special place for Harry Potter in my heart - but now I think it's pretty overrated, as well as having underlying racist and sexist tones I won't go into right now.

I do have pets, three of them in fact - a several-year-old goldfish named, very creatively, Goldie, and two cats who are brothers that we got October 2021, Tayto and Pepper. I believe I posted a picture of Pepper to the pet chatting!! thread on CaC. Do you have any pets?

Argh, I can never pick a favorite school subject. Science, ELA, and Social Studies are probably my favorites, but if I have to choose one, I'll go with ELA, because we're doing book clubs right now, which is always fun.

Some more questions: Do you have a favorite genre to read or to write? I saw you do calligraphy - do you have a preferred medium?

Uhh I guess I'll end this here. Again, so sorry for the late reply.

Heyyy!

I've read all of the other Grishaverse books and I'd recommend starting with Shadow and Bone and reading that trilogy first. Also, yes, I have seen the show! It's really good and a second season is coming out soon- plus it has the Six of Crows characters too!

I agree with your view on Harry Potter, although I like some aspects of the world, overall it's just not that appealing to me. And yes, the underlying racist/sexist tones are very strange to read all these years later.

I do indeed have a pet! His name is Sam and he is a poodle and springer spaniel mix (which we had to get because my mom is allergic to dogs that shed). He's black and white and very playful and happy :) Many years ago, I saw a parakeet flying around my house and managed to lure it inside, and then we rushed to the pet store and got him a cage, so now he lives with my grandma! We named him Romeo <3 We have no idea how old he is or really if he is even male, but he's still alive and thriving!

My favorite genre to read... hmm, that's hard. I would probably say fantasy/sci-fi, but I also enjoy some realistic fiction and historical fiction. Dystopian, too, but I've been reading less of that lately. Side note- today was my birthday and I got like 7 books from my favorite bookstore! I've already read two of the graphic novels (I love graphic novels!). As for my favorite genre to write, I'd probably say sci-fi/fantasy again; usually when I write it has very dark vibes in general. Speaking of which, I really need to write more. Huh.

Yes, I love calligraphy! I taught myself in sixth grade and I don't do it as much now, but it still comes in handy when making cards for people! As for my preferred medium, I use the dual Tombow brush pens- I have a collection of over 80 of them at this point. I also love the smaller Tombow brush pens that usually only come in black, but I've managed to get my hands on some color versions of those. What about you?

Question time!! Do you have a favorite band/artist? Favorite animal (besides a pangolin!)? Favorite hobbies?

Also, don't feel pressured to answer these right away, take all the time you need :D

Hi!

Okay, first of all, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! How old are you now (of course, don't answer if you're not comfortable sharing)?

Secondly, I sort of disappeared from the CB without a warning this week, because of my school's overnight trip. I didn't get back until yesterday, and didn't have time to come on here, so that's why this reply is so so late (also why I'm not posting a segment of my ski lodge this week).

Anyway, I'll definately read the Shadow and Bone trilogy. I'm sort of swamped with books from the library I have to read right now, but soon I'll order it from the library. And I'm very excited for whenever I can watch the show. :D

Ahh, Sam sounds so cute! I've always loved dogs, but alas our house and environment aren't the best for owning a dog, but at least we have our cats. And that's a great story about Romeo (and a great name)! For whatever reason, we have an abnormal amount of monk parakeets around where I live, and we frequently hear their loud squawks, especially now that the weather is warmer. Do you have any notable wildlife around where you live?

Yes, calligraphy is so fun! I don't do calligraphy as much or am as good as other types of hand lettering, but it's still very enjoyable. I typically use Micron pens for outlines and details, and Ohuhu markers for coloring. I'll have to check out the Tombow brush pens you mentioned!

For a favorite band/artist, I think I'll have to go with the Corrs or the Indigo Girls. I was introduced to them by my parents, and I don't know a lot of other people who listen to them. If I had to choose favorite songs, I would say "Forgiven, Not Forgotten" or "Runaway" by the Corrs, and "Airplane", "Galileo", or "Cedar Tree" by the Indigo Girls.

My favorite animal, besides a pangolin, is probably a flying squirrel or a tarsier. Do you have a favorite animal?

Hey!!

Thank you! I'm 15 (?!) now, which is so wild for me to think about. Edging into that YA protagonist territory :/

Ohhh, an overnight school trip! That sounds so cool, I hope you had fun! (also, can't wait for the next part of the ski lodge :D). Also, I am also very much swamped by books that I got for my birthday and yet still want to get more from the library for some reason...

Some notable wildlife... hmm, not too much, there's a lot of bunnies around where I live, plus some deer families and stuff, since I live near a park. Not super interesting, but still very cute :3

I've never heard of either of those artists, I'll have to check them out!

My favorite animal? Usually I'd say a dragon, but if I had to choose one that actually exists I'd probably say a dog (I'm very, very much a dog person).

Apologies for my very short answers, I have to study for a math test now! Byeee <333

Hey!

Yes, the overnight was very fun (aside from me getting motion sick on the bus :/)! It was mainly ropes courses and that sort of thing, and it was certainly a welcome break from school work. We've been doing a lOt of work lately due to it being almost the end of the year (!). Do you have any plans for the summer?

Ahhh bunnies are so cute! I live in a city, so I never see bunnies and deer and other animals like that. The closest I got was the opossum that invaded my neighbors' house a few years ago. That was certainly interesting XD

Oh and I completely forgot to answer what my favorite hobbies were a few posts back. I guess I'll go with reading, writing, drawing, making miniatures (although I haven't done that recently), softball (haven't done that very recently either), handwriting & calligraphy, and chess.

Question time~ Do you speak any languages (besides English, of course)? Favorite sport (either to play or watch)? Do you like to draw/paint/otherwise make art?

If you have yet to take your math test, good luck, and if you have, then I hope you did well. :)
