Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Solving the World's

Solving the World's Problems

a thread for talking about, well, the world's problems.

Earth has a LOT of problems. climate change, world hunger, poaching, pesticides, ect.

what annoys me is that humans are greedy. why is making money always more important than helping others? if everyone treated everyone else as equals and shared with them, so many people would be happy. lives would be saved.

i'm ranting, but this is what this thread is for.

Ah, climate change... I wish I could solve it. But I can't, and I don't know where to start. My city is one of the ones that's in danger of sinking, and it scares me. I found a website that showed what each part would like like if the sea levels rose.... long story short, you can say goodbye to most of the Back Bay in the next 100 years. It's not fair! I like the Back Bay! I don't want it to disappear.... *cries*

Jaybells was talking about communism a while ago... I find communism fascinating because it was created in a time when the Russian people were starved and oppressed by their czar, and it was clear something needed to change. They genuinely thought communism was the answer.

RGJ, we're not going to support political discussion on Chatterbox, so I've deleted some of your comment.

Yes, communism is very interesting to study. It shows that when a society really, really wants change, things do change - they become completely opposite to what they were like before. Very interesting in light of what is happening in the US these days...

I'm so sorry your city might drown :( I know how it feels - I'm from Mexico, and there are parts of Mexico that have become sort of unlivable for parts of the year, because there's not enough water. It makes me really sad.

On a cheerful note, there is so much that can be done to stop climate change, namely buying less, driving in the car less. Also - beware of greenwashing!

In case you haven't heard of the above-mentioned Phenomenon, it's when a company or organization pretends to be very ecological so that you'll give them money. A lot of organizations do that, sadly, and it's important to beware of them...

I was going to explain in more detail but my mom needs the computer (I don't have my own computer, humph humph grumble) so I must needs Stop Here. Honestly. *sigh* So bye for now!
