The Commercial Seal Hunt.
This is a big issue. I know it's also sort of a Canadian one, but I'd like to hear your views anyway. I think it's a revolting and terrible thing to do. And it's useless!!! If anyone needs more info, just Google "Commercial Seal Hunt Canada". That should do it.

Okay, I'm very bad with the news, or whatever catagory this is in. What is it? If it involves hunting, then, yes, it is revolting. If not, then I don't know.... :D:D:D:D

It's MUCH worse than hunting. It involves grown men running around clubbing poor, defenseless baby harp seals to death. This is done to supposedly create jobs, But it wastes more money than it generates. 79% of the sealers don't even make sure the seals are dead, which often leads to them getting skinned alive. AND THEY'RE ONLY BABIES!!!! Do a search. You'll get a lot of useful information. IFAW, Greenpeace, and National Geographic are good sites.

:(:(:(Tears are seriously coming to my eyes!!:(:(:(:(:( (One time, we were at the wonderful Lobsta' Shack (a restaurant that's actually right on the rocks next to the ocean), and the animal rescue people were there, and they were releasing a baby seal that had been abused (not as bad as those, though). In Westbrook (a city next to Gorham ((I think it's in Westbrook....)) ), they have a baby seal refuge league thingy! You have to be 15, though, to volunteer there, but if we still live here when I'm that old, I'll definitely work there (even though it smells really bad!). :D:D:D:D

That sounds cool!!! How'd the seal get abused? Did you do a search? Find anything?

No, I was pretty little, so I don't remember much. All I remember was that it was WAY cute, and they had about five people carrying the box it was in, because it weighed a ton. :):) There are a bunch of seals, though, at the refuge center. I'll do some research later today, when I have time for it! :D:D:D

BellaTrix, Where do you live that's -30 degrees?! Sorry, I can't find the thread where I read that. How old are you? (I'm trying to find out how many people of each age are on here, to see how many more, say, 13-year-olds are on than 9-year-olds.) PLEASE don't think I am trying to be a stalker or anything. Seals are some of my favorite animals!
