Chatterbox: Down to Earth

~Glee~I was

~Glee~

I was wondering if anyone on Chatterbox watched Glee....

I am watching the first season on DVD and really like it. My mom however doesn't really like it that much, so we probably won't watch the next season.  My favorite song that they did is loser like me (look it up)....anyone else have a favorite?

well, thats all for now....

Hey Admins- do any of you watch/like Glee???

Yes, I like to watch Glee when I can (but not so much that I record it if I'm going to be out when it's on)! It has some very good moments and deals with important issues, BUT I do not recommend it for anyone under the age of 17. Some of the language and situations I consider unsuitable for anyone younger, and I'm appalled that it airs duing what I consider family viewing time. I'd say it goes over the top, way out, like one of my other favorites, Ugly Betty. These shows do cause the viewer to think about how he/she treats other people. It's good to be sensitive to the feelings of others who are not like you, to learn to respect others, and to stand up for your own beliefs and feelings.

I've seen a bit on the Internet, and there was a bit of a buzz over Kurt and Blaine... yeah. And I like a few of their songs like Loser Like Me and most of the ones with Gwyneth Paltrow. Their cover of Friday was weird though.

I don't watch Glee, but my parents watched two or three episodes. The first one was because of Charice (we're also Filipino) and the other episode was for Gwyneth Paltrow.

I started to watch Glee, because Darren Criss is in it in season two.  If he weren't in it, then I would have never started.  I finished season one a month ago, and I haven't been able to start season two, so I haven't seen Darren yet.  xD  My favourite songs are Defying Gravity and the P Funk song that they sang.  :)

What's Glee??

It's a TV show, I think on Fox network. It's about a high school glee club (show choir).

I love the music in Glee! It's so good, especially that one song with Gwenyth Paltrow (sp?) and the one where the character Rachel Berry sang "Don't Rain on My Parade". However, I agree with the Admin. It's waaaay to inappropriate for kids (including myself). I once saw an episode and was pretty disgusted. My parents (meaning Dad) only let us watch the musical numbers, none of the storyline. (My dad loves music. LOVES it)

Yeah... I don't like to fill my head with things like that, if I can help it.  And the music is okay.  I seem to think most of the original songs are better than the Glee version.  It's like KidzBop for adults...

Haha, R~D, I've heard it called the Adult High School Musical. That about sums it up.

I understand why a lot of people don't watch it and/or like it, and I also agree that it can be inappropriate at times.  I mostly watch it because of the singing and dancing.....I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I hope no one gets mad at me for saying that I like it....

Well thanks for your comments,

Claire

I just don't want to watch it because of the nasty plot lines and references, but I do admit that I've really enjoyed the little bit of music I've heard from it. I heard their version of Beautiful Day while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade last year and just loved it! Too bad the show isn't too nice, because the singers sound pretty amazing. :)

I dislike it mainly because of their... excessive use of autotune. When you're autotuning Neil Patrick Harris something is very, very wrong. Though Chris Colfer is the worst offender in that respect *sidelong glance at Rose's Turn and Some People*. I cannot stand the crunchiness. And the worst part of it is that, with the exception of people I already know, I have no way of knowing if the actors legitimately cannot sing or if it's because of the autotune (see: Lea Michele, who I actually really like now that I got a hold of the Spring Awakening soundtrack).

Also because the plot is ridiculously contrived. High school does not work that way ((except the budget drama, which was only slightly exaggerated, unfortunately)). High school performance groups do not work that way. Improv does not work that way, however much we all wish it did. BABIES DO NOT WORK THAT WAY. Weather does not work that way!

That being said I adore Sue, because her over-the-top... evilness... is delicious. And also I applaud the way they're handling the various issues addressed by the characters themselves. Tolerance is good. Tolerance is nice.

But rrrrrrrrrrgh autotune and rrrrrrrrrrrrgh absurd plotline. A thousand times rrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. Also, RRRRRRRRGH keep your dirty hands off the Rocky Horror Show.
