Bad writer???

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Bad writer???

Bad writer???
I'm sulking.  My mom saw my writing and didn't like it.  She said it wasn't original.  She said it was a cop-out.  She said it was--
*suddenly bursts into tears*
*wails*
*sniffle* Does my writing suck in your opinion?  Honestly?  Truthfully?  Really?
I'm not going to be writing for a while.  I need to get my spirits back up.  I might even leave the Chatterbox for a bit.
*waves dejectedly*
*sighs deeply*
*trudges away*
It's one thing to loathe your writing.  It's another when your mom does, too.
Anyway.  Bye.  Thanks for listening to my boring ramble.  I needed to say it.

Oh no! Your ramble wasn't boring!!

*gets on the ground and begs* Please don't go! Please please!

*gives a dramatic pose* This place NEEDS you!

*sighs* *wipes tears from eyes* *Back hunches up* Well, we'll miss you!

Mothers. *scoffs at nonsensicality of it all* Don't let them get you down! There are many people in this world who don't want you to succeed. Maybe your mom is worried or something about you (stupid, but the best my brain can generate through this shock). I wouldn't listen to her if I were you. No disrespect intended, but I seriously don't think she was thinking straight. You've posted stuff and it's been really super! Pay no heed to this discouragement. Every writer gets rejected countless times so I'd just take this offense as good practice for when you're involved with publishing, agencies, illustrators, etc. Learn from it!

AND PLEEEEEEEEASE DON'T LEAVE!!!!!!!!!! AND PLEEEEEEASE DON'T STOP WRITING OR ANYTHING EQUALLY DRASTIC (SUCH AS LEAVE THE CHATTERBOX!!) JUST BECAUSE OF AN INFINTESIMAL PUT-DOWN!!!!

Aw, BellaTrix! That REALLY stinks! I am SO sorry that happened!

Er...too many exclamation points. Bad habit of mine. Anyway. Your ramble was not boring. I would ramble too if something like that happened to me. And, um, I don't really remember seeing any of your writing on here. I'm really sorry, but which ones did you write? I usually look at the story first and not the person who submitted it. But EVERYTHING I read on here is great, so that would definitely include your work.

Don't leave. Please. If you do, let us know some other online thing you're on so NatashaRox can follow you there! (just joking.) Maybe your mom was just in a bad mood. I don't know.

Thanks guys.  I was just being sulky and overdramatic.  I won't leave, then.  Sorry. :0  I love you guys!

Anyway.  I wrote on "Round Robin Story!" by me, and "Round-Robin!" by Koffee.  Oh, and one by TNO, I think . . . But I don't remember what it's called . . . *searches in vain*

Aw, BellaTrix, I'm so sorry! *hugs* Chin up and keep writing! Your mom doesn't have to like what you write, as long as you're happy with it! (and even if you're not.) Just keep writing if it's fun for you.

Everyone has different opinions of writing. That's why there are so many editors out there, so many writers, and such a huge variety of readers. I may love a certain book, you may hate it. Or you may rave about an author, and I'll dislike him/her. In fact, my very own best friend happened to dislike one of my stories. It all depends on perspective, so don't get discouraged! All that matters is that you like your writing. Just because one person doesn't like it doesn't mean it's bad!

Even if your writing was bad (which it is NOT!!!), the important thing is that you like doing it. I don't know your mom, but maybe you should talk to your mom and explain that it hurt your feelings. (And while you're at it, maybe you can tell her about all the Latin we were speaking on here recently. ;) )

O.O that's cruel. From what I've seen of your writing - albeit not much - it seemed pretty good, with some problems that nothing a little revision couldn't fix. *hug* Don't worry, and don't let your mom get you down.

My mother doesn't like my writing either - she says I need to write what I know and stop researching so much. *rolls eyes*

*virtual choklit* Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, guys.  But I know: looking back and reading what I wrote, I realized that I was really being overdramatic, sulky, and whiny, and I feel really dumb right now.  Eheh. *is ashamed of self*

And I also looked back on my writing in Koffee's RR, and I just now realized how much it stinks.  I mean, "You have the Aftermath," I ask you! *sinks down into oblivion*  How cheesy and predictably unoriginal can you get?!?  *dies of shame*
Ugghhhh.  Now I know what you mean, TNO, by IHMAWTD.

NO, NO, N O O!

If you have that kind of attitude then you will never get anywhere in life.

What you should say, is : " OK  my writing is not bad, BUT, it can be improved. "  And then, go ahead and get to work!

Try it, that attitude will get you anywhere!

I've done it thousands of times when I'm depressed so I should know.

What does IHMAWTED mean, really?

Bellatrix,

Your writing DOES NOT STINK. The Aftermath is the most original thing I've ever heard of!!! Scratch that, since it's original, I've never heard of the idea.Tongue out
