Chatterbox: Inkwell

As I have written before, i am working on my 4th book.  Here"s some more.

"Listen to me," a voice rasped.  "And listen to me good.  I want to speak with the leader of your little group."  Without a word Alexa passed the phone down to Isabelle.                                                                                                               

"You are going to do directly as I say.  I have your parents.  I will send a nice man to take you to an orphanage.  You will go with him.  If you do not, your parents will be harmed."  The girls looked at each other, appalled.  This man was on speaker, and everyone 10-year-old could hear every minute of it.  "You might want to decide for the better."   Before this man hung up, Alexa called desperately, "Why didn't you tell me, mom?  Why didn't you tell me who you were?"     There was no answer as the phone went dead.
