Everland Island P

Everland Island Prison RP

Okay, so my Everlasting RP started eight days ago, and we voted first for genres, and then for plot ideas. However, two plot ideas tied for first.

Normally, in this situation there would be a runoff between the two, and I'm also aware that I said this would be the case. However, I fear that we are at serious risk of losing the people that have joined, because, quite frankly, this is taking a really long time. =)

Also, there are clearly enough people interested in both RPs to make them both work. This is a good thing! Two for the price of one!

Alias submitted the following idea, and it tied for first with four votes;

In this world your three (or fewer) characters are on a prison-island. A few of these characters were unjustly imprisoned, but many deserve to be there. This is not just a story about heroes and good guys.

They are racing to get to a small enchanted ship that they have heard of -- though no one knows if it exists. Nobody has actually seen this ship. but stories say that it can only carry two people. This ship is also said to be the only escape from the prison-island.

Here's the thing; this is a prison for people with magical powers. The island is under an unbreakable spell that limits the characters' powers so severely that they're almost silly. Like if you have the power of conjuring flame, you can only conjure one as large as a gas stove would. Or if you can freeze something, it can't be bigger than an apple. (These are just examples.)

This is set in a medieval-type era. (But not necessarily Earth.) So, no cellphones, etc.

If you use more than one character for this, they should be on very noticeably different levels as far as good/evil.

The goal of these RPs is not to win! These are Everlasting RPs. If someone just wins, then they end! I someone does triumph, it should be a twist of the plot, not the high point in any way.

Let's try and make it about strong writers, not strong characters. Triumphs should be few and far between, something worthy of celebration. Make the story about challenges and defeats.

The character form is this:

Name:

 Age:

Appearance:

Power:

You'll notice that I left out backstory, other, and personality. This was on purpose. I think it will make for a more interesting to have our characters develop throughout, not just have a flat-out identity. No one really knows if the other one is good/evil. We have to figure it out.

Just to remind everybody, I'm going to state a few rules;

1. You can have no more than three characters at a time.

2. A character can be killed off and replaced. However, there must be two weeks (real time) between the creation of a character and the same character's replacement. This gives our characters time to develop, and hopefully compels us to commit to describing their place in this imaginary world.

3. No simple overpower-ed-ness, please! Cleverness, deceit, and luck, YES! Blatant ovepowering, not so much.

4. You do not have to have voted on the original thread to post on this.

5. You can join at any time.

Name: Prisoner 42; Ryia Crawler

Age: 18 (is that an okay age?)

Appearance: Long thick brown hair that, when its not in a braid, tumbles down her back. She wears a feminine pirate coat, and has the poofy maroon pirate pants. (Unless we are in orange jump suits if you get my meaning) She has a feminine figure and is quite tan. She has deep, green eyes and full lips that are usually smiling. She is quite tall for a lady.

Power: Wallclimbing. Almost like spider man, but without the gadgets. She can climb anything really, and can cling to ceilings and walls.

Any age is fine! This is a prison where people go forever. That means people have babies, and grow old.

This is also why people are desperate to escape -- otherwise they have no hope of leaving.

As far as your outfit question: these are medieval times, so no orange jumpsuits. And also, this is an island where people are sent who have magical powers. They don't have walls or cells like normal a prison. Basically people are living like peasants in the middle-ages. Mud huts and clothes that they made, traded for, or had on when they were captured and sent there. People can interact with each other freely. The guards are only in large towers slightly offshore, people don't see them except when they go to the coastal area to fish, etc.

But this is still a prison. The magical spell severely limits your powers to the point they're almost not really there. Like, Katydid, if your character's power is climbing, then it would have to be only slightly better than a skilled regular person would be able to do. If you didn't know this when you made your character, I think it's fine if you want to change her power. (But you don't have to; just understand it's limited.)

A magical electric force field was placed around the island, about two hundred feet off shore in any given direction, like a giant bubble. If you touch it, it sends you to The Pit, a dark cave full of snakes and other unpleasant creatures, where no one else on the island ever goes, and you have to navigate your way out of it.

No boat (or person. Or craft of any other sort) can make its way through the forcefield other than The Enchanted Ship, but no one even knows if that exists. It might be myth.

Also, side note; whoever created this island and is holding people here, is not providing food or shelter or even basic security/safety. People have to make it on their own.

The orange jumpsuit thing was kind of a joke. I was basically asking if we had to wear certain things and whatnot. And I did know about the power thing. I can still climb well, but I can't cling to walls. And I can't climb impossible things without my powers. (giant ice cicle for example)

Name: Prisoner 25, Weltrin Morgo

Age: 17

Appearance: Black hair, ash-grey eyes, tall, slightly muscular (as in not gigantic muscles, but like a six-pack), wears a black shirt, pants, male pirate boots, has a necklace that's hidden under shirt.

Power: Fire. Can only create a small flame since powers are limited.

If there's anything wrong or that I needed to add, sorry about that. But, tada! Can't wait to start. :)

Name: Rivana Iru

Personality: The smartest one. A genius.

Age: 14

Appearance: Dark blonde hair, green eyes

Power: Water (which includes ice and mist)

Other: During a solar or lunar eclipse, her powers are magnified to the extent that she could wipe out an army. So on the eclipse, she's brought to a place with no water and tied up with twenty guards.

Sorry, Brookeira, by the standards of this rp, your character would be a bit overpowered. I stated in the rules that simple overpoweredness is prohibited; which includes simply saying that your character is the best at something. Your character can be very smart, but not the smartest one on the island.

I think that the power of water can fairly include mist and ice, but remember that all of our characters are equally limited; like how St.Owl's can't move while hovering, and Noelle C.'s can only conjure a small flame. The people on the island have powers that have been decreased by the spell, not just the same level of power they had before. In a sense, they're not powerful, exactly, but have powers.

As I stated as an example; if you can freeze something it can only be about the size of an apple. I think that if you also have the powers of mist, you can only summon a cloud the size of a basketball, and water can only be a small splash.

And remember, winning every situation is not what we're going for. Our powers are very minor.  The people who are the most successful in this RP are the ones that show how difficult life on the island is for them; not the ones who simply have it easy.

Name: Prisoner 16, Nenya Raven

Age: She isn't sure, but somewhere in the early teens.

Appearance: Raven-black hair that she keeps neat with some spikey coral she found, and it's braided. Emerald green eyes that are very, very sharp. Tall, but very skinny and seems that she could just blow away if the wind was strong enough. Her ears are very obviously pointed.

Power: Flight. But on the island, she can only hover (and not move, just staying in one place) and jump higher than most people.

I'm just wondering, if you have 2 characters in the Elves RP, can you have one in the Everland Island Prison one?

These RPs are entirely separate, so you are allowed three characters here if you like. =)

Guys... this rp sounds a LOT like my dystopian rp that died. Was this inspired by it?

Alias, she (my charrie) can't use her powers AT ALL unless it's an eclipse.

Brookeira, sorry, but no one can have superpowers in this RP, regardless of what the celestial bodies are doing at the time. We are all equal.

Also, no, this was not inspired by anything you wrote. It was inspired by the general idea of island prisons, many of which have existed in both fictional stories and reality. For example Azkaban, and Australia . . . both of which I believe predate your RP by some time. Powers were added to the plot to make the story work as fantasy. Limiting the powers makes sense for a prison, and serves to make the rp more interesting as a writing exercise.

Name: Prisoner 73, Annis

Age: Not sure, but somethin' like 10 to 12.

Appearance: Wavy brown hair in a messy ponytail, grey eyes that gleam mischeviously. Tannish skin, and always wears a grey wool trench coat and black leggings. Even in summer.

Power: Reeeally fast. But on the island, only as fast as, say, the fastest fifth grader in school.

Name: Prisoner 56, Niska Chami

Age: 14

Appearance: Short dark hair that curves outward on one side and inward on the other. She is short and slender. She has gray eyes that are sort of cloudy. She wears a pair of ragged leggings, a linen shirt. She has a tattered red silk scarf wrapped loosely around her neck and is barefoot.

Power: She has the power of invisiblity, but a bit more than that: no one can hear her, see her, or sense her. But because of the island, the power is weakened so that she has to concentrate really hard to become invisible and if she moves or stands in bright light, she is visible.

Name: Prisoner 27, Emi Tem-Biire

Age: 17

Appearance: Bright blue eyes, gold-brown hair, slender and tall. She wears a sleeveless blue shirt and brown pants.

Power: She can control her gravity, so she can walk on ceilings, walls, do impossible stunts like Kim Possible does, jump really high. Because of the island, she can't walk on ceilings or walls anymore, only does the easier Kim Possible stunts, and jumps only a little bit higher than a normal person.
