The world of

Chatterbox: Inkwell

The world of

The world of Decepmyth

Everyone knows that there is a fantasy land somewhere out there. Some people translate it as Neverland, or Narnia. Others say that this fantasy land is a part of our world that we are oblivious to. For example, Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, or Camp Halfblood and the idea of the greek myths living among us. However you think of this land, there is one thing we can all agree upon: that it is real.

Welcome to Decepmyth; the world of deception and illusion, my translation of this fantasy land. Decepmyth can only be reached by one way, and that is words. Words are the only thing that come close to describing Decepmyth, though it remains indescribable. Perhaps the closest accounts of Decepmyth are described in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, as it is a snow covered land with an abundance of darkness, evil and magic, as well as beautiful wonders beyond your imagination. If you dare to journey into this land, I will be your guide, but be warned, I can not tell you if you will come out alive or not. You may discover that there is a much bigger power in Decepmyth than you ever dreamed of, and one of you holds the key to it.

Do you dare to venture into the land of Decepmyth?

We appreciate the topping efforts, and I have been diligently working with some of Decepmyth's words to re-tell the story of Decepmyth's heir. I have a problem, however. My problem is that I opened my mind's gateway a little to far, and I now have seven or so pages of writing, and I haven't even introduced all the characters yet. You will have to be patient if your name doesn't appear in Day 0, and I assure you that you will play a big part in the development of the plot. I believe either I or my messenger informed you that no one will die, but with Decpmyth involved, I cannot promise anything. Please realize that though this will have dramatic parts, nothing will go over the rules of the chatterbox, and nothing will be little more than playful. Alter egos will be treated as separate people, with little to know relationship to the CBer who created them. If you in anyway disagree with this portrayal of alter egos, just let me know and I will adjust for you or your alter ego only. Please read the intro a few pages back; the writing style will be different in the days, but at least you can get an idea of the theme.

Thank you, and always keep your minds open to Decepmyth.

I'm fine as to the way you portray my AEs, as long as Shifting is a sadistic ghost who is a jerk and Volcano is an insane hyperactive pyromaniac.

You may come along, but the heir and his/her opponent have already been chosen. I will hopefully be able to post Day 0 tonight, if not, I will post it tomorrow morning at about this time.

See you in Decepmyth!

I forgot to mention that we have a last-minute joiner. Queen Elizabeth will be part of our adventuring group! Not everyone has been introduced in Day 0, but trust me, I will not forget you.

DAY 0

Squeak was watching Star Wars. He had made a tent of his blankets like people in books do, but all that happened was that it got stuffy under his tent, so he gave up on that idea and propped his tablet on the pillow, loving ever ounce of action. It was the middle of the night, or so Squeak assumed, which was all the better. When he closed his eyes, he could still see lightsabers clashing together, red and green lights flying through space, and all the wonderful things that made sci-fi... well... sci-fi. He was so absorbed that he didn’t notice when his twin sister, Danie, sneaked up behind him. She waited until the last second and... “BOO!” The tablet flew out of Squeak’s hands, and Danie laughed. She had gotten him this time!

“Look around mousehead, we aren’t in Kansas anymore!” She said, turning off the tablet which lay face-up on Squeak’s bed.

“We never were in Kansas,” Squeak replied.

“Never mind, look around!” Danie was jumping up and down now, and Squeak realized how much her voice was echoing. Then Squeak gasped. They were in a shadowy cave, with a roof at least ten feet above is head. He bed was still on his bed, but he felt it melting away under him until it was nothing but a rock.

“Maybe we were transported into Star Wars!” He said hopefully.

“Did someone say STAR WARS?” Another voice from deeper in the cavern yelled excitedly. The words Star Wars echoed around the cave until they became rather ominous. There is one person who comes close to loving Star Wars as much as Squeak, and that person was Rose bud. Surprising as it was, she obsessed over it and was constantly challenging people to invisible lightsaber fights. As she stepped out of the shadows to meet Squeak and Danie, she cupped her hand as if she was holding something, and made lightsaber noises. Squeak did the same, and they leaped into battle. Danie, seeing nothing else to do, cupped her hand as well, and they all ferociously battled each other with invisible lightsabers. The three Star Wars lovers froze, however, when they heard a whooshing noise coming from the opposite direction that Rose Bud had appeared from. Forgetting their non-exsistant weapons, they stared in shock as a dark form flew into the cave.

“A DRAGON!” Danie screamed, and then all three brave Jedi-knights screamed until the form grew smaller, morphing into the figure of a girl. She was wearing a dark cloak that looked as if it was woven from the shadows flashing around the cavern. She looked more confused than scary, so Squeak, Rose bud and Danie stopped screaming.

“Did I just fly?” She asked, her voice sounding silvery, like liquid shadow.

“Um... yeah,” Squeak replied, not knowing what else to say.

“What? How?” She examined herself and then the three people in front of her.

“Where am I?”

“That, unfortunately, is a question I cannot answer,” Rose bud announced.

“Nor I,” said Danie.

“My name is Shadow Dragon. I was asleep and had a dream that I was flying, and when I woke up, I was a... a dragon,” the girl explained.

“My bedroom just kinda morphed into this cave,” Squeak kicked a rock that hit Danie’s shin.

“OW!” Danie exclaimed, glaring at Squeak.

“I woke up in this cavern,” Rose bud said, holding up her hands, “I don’t know where I am.”

“Let’s take a look outside,” Danie suggested, and the four trudged in the direction that Shadow Dragon came from, hoping that it lead to a way out. There was enough light to see, and it had to be coming from somewhere. The mouth of the cave was soon found, and the four adventurers realized that they were halfway up a mountain. Far below them, a snow-covered land stretched on for miles in every direction.

“We have definitely not been transported into Star Wars,” Squeak declared disappointedly.

“Shadow Dragon, see if you can turn into a dragon again, then we can fly down,” Rose bud suggested.

“I’ll try,” Shadow Dragon replied, closing her eyes. In a few seconds, two large wings covered in patterns of black and silver were extending from her arms, and she gradually grew into a beautiful dragon.

“How many can you carry?” Squeak asked the dragon, ducking to avoid her wings. Shadow Dragon simply shook her head, and it dawned on Squeak that dragon’s can’t talk.

“Hop on!” Danie yelled enthusiastically from Shadow’s back. Squeak and Rose bud both  struggled to climb up Shadow’s side, but they soon were making themselves as comfortable as they could on their scaly perch.

“We’re ready, Shadow Dragon!” Rose bud called, and Shadow beat her wings and walked to the very edge of the cave. She balanced their nervously, before leaping into the frigid air. Instantly, they began to go down. Rose bud squealed and clung to Danie, Squeak squeaked and clung to Rose bud, and Danie faced the wind, shouting encouragement to Shadow Dragon. There were ten terrifying seconds in which Shadow plummeted towards the frozen ground, and then her powerful wings slowly began moving them upward. Danie and Rose bud cheered, (it is funny how adventure makes friendships so quickly), Squeak... where was Squeak? Frantic, Rose bud realized that he was no longer seated behind her.

“Danie! Squeak is gone!” Rose bud yelled over the rush of wind. It was uncomfortable on Shadow’s back, and there weren’t many places to hold on. Squeak could have easily slipped off. Danie turned her head, a look of terror on her face. Both girls were frozen; Squeak was gone. The fall from Shadow’s back was a very long way down. Danie’s chest began to shake with sobs, but Rose bud was looking at something flying in the cold air next to them.

“SQUEAK!” She cried, and Danie followed her gaze. A girl in a white night-gown (remember, everyone was sleeping. Shadow Dragon, apparently sleeps in a cloak :) was soaring next to them, her long light brown hair waving behind her. Squeak was holding onto her hand, though it looked like he couldn’t hold on much longer. Shadow Dragon swooped over to them, and the girl deposited Squeak on Shadow’s back. Rose bud was so joyful that Squeak had not fallen that at first, she paid no attention to the girl gliding alongside Shadow Dragon. Then, recognition hit her.

“CLOUDY DWELLER!”

“ROSE BUD!” The two girls hugged, which was difficult because Cloudy was suspended in the air, and Rose bud was seated atop a dragon. The began to converse in a rush of words, and Rose bud learned several things.

One was that they were in a place called Decepmyth, and another was that there were two girls named Maple (I have shortened your name, Maplesyurp) and Indigo in the snow below them, as well as a cloaked figure who called himself A Messenger. There was also someone called The Illusionist, who is looking for the heir of Decepmyth, whom she thinks is Indigo. The rocky mountain (it was a rather small mountain) was far from sight, and Squeak, Danie, Rose, Cloudy and Shadow decided to land where the other girls and the messenger were. Their landing was a bit bumpy, but everyone reached the ground with all their bones intact, and Shadow Dragon morphed back into herself. They only needed to walk a little ways in the snow until Maplesyurp came in sight.

“Where are the others?” Cloudy Dweller asked.

“That messenger guy took Indigo to meet The Illusionist,” Maple said, shivering. The others, all shivering miserably by now sat down in a clump. They were all barefoot, and their feet were numb from the snow and frigid wind.

“Maybe we can build a fire,” Squeak suggested.

“There aren’t any sticks or grass, mousehead,” Danie replied, but the “mousehead” was halfhearted, as she was still relieved he wasn’t smashed to bits on the snowy ground.

“Aren’t dragons supposed to breath fire? Maybe I can do it!” Shadow Dragon exclaimed.  She turned into a dragon and opened her mouth, but nothing happened.

“I guess not,” she said as a girl again.

“DID SOMEONE SAY FIRE?” The freezing adventurers turned to see the snow melting away from a form walking towards them. He had spiky red hair, and you could feel the heat emanating from him. No one said anything, being a little intimidated. Suddenly, there was the sound of a flute laughing across the sparkling snow. A girl in colorful pajamas was skipping towards the huddled group to a tune she played on her flute. The flute-playing girl stopped, and dropped her flute be her side. The boy with red hair lit on fire, flames flicking his shoulders and tickling his legs. The frigid explorers gathered around him, stretching out their cold toes and fingers, as the girl began to speak.

“Hello there, I’m Piper. Pied Piper, and this,” she gestured to the human campfire, “is Baelfire. I was on my roof playing my flute and all the sudden I was here,” She said, wiping the frost off of her flute with her pj top.

“I soon met Baelfire and we kept walking until we came to you,” Pied Piper continued, “do you have any idea where we are?”

“Decepmyth, apparently,” Rose bud answered, trying not to get burned by Baelfire’s over-enthusiastic flames. Everyone took turns telling the newcomers what they knew so far, and by the time they were finished, the sky was growing darker. Though it was night time in the real world, it was only evening in Decepmyth.  There was no sun, but instead, a glittering crystal suspended above them. This crystal was slowly dimming, and the sky was turning grey. The adventurers then began to argue about what they should do, and it turned into an all-out fist fight, with one team led by Baelfire, and the other by Maple. They gradually forgot what they were fighting about, and again settled around Baelfire to talk about their situation.

“Isn’t it odd that we all just appeared her?” Maple questioned.

“Yes, and everyone just woke up in Decepmyth at more or less the same time,” Danie pointed out.

“Maybe there are more of people like us, we could go find them,” Pied Piper suggested.

“Wait... I just figured out something!” Rose bud exclaimed, “what if we all woke up with MAGICAL POWERS!”

“I can light on FIRE!” Baelfire said, demonstrating by roaring into flames.

“That would make sense,” Shadow Dragon thought for a minute, “I can turn into a dragon, Baelfire can light himself up, Cloudy Dweller can fly, but what about the rest of us?”

“What if we haven’t figured out our powers?” Danie was excited now, “what if we do all have them, but we just need to figure out how to use them?”

“Yes, like-” but Cloudy Dweller froze in mid-sentence as she heard a low growl from behind her.

I apologize Brookeira,

You see, I never realized that you had another alter ego until you announced you would be journeying to Decepmyth. I then had to create what I thougth Baelfire looks or acts like from just his name. I attempted research, but found nothing other than hints that he lit on fire and had red hair. I will certainly make these changes to Baelfire's personality.
