Yet another Harry

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Yet another Harry

Yet another Harry Potter RP!

I'm sorry, I know there are millions of RPs, I know there are tons of Harry Potter RPs- but I had this idea, and I really want to put it out there...

A Harry Potter RP.... while Harry's at school!

I know. Brilliant, right?

I just thought, well, we have lots of futuristic RPs, a Marauders RP.... so, maybe we could write an RP about Harry through a normal student at Hogwart's eyes!

Well? What do you think?

It can be any year- maybe we can vote on that- and you should already know all the professors, so...

Here's the sheet!

I really hope that it's not too late to join! My charrie is Maori (they're the natives of New Zealand). Okay:

Name: Taika

Age: 14; 4th

Appearance: Long, shiny black hair; coffee-colored skin; amber eyes; short, stocky. Typically wears green.

Personality: Taika, from her earliest days, has been a feisty girl. This is why her village named her Taika, which means "tiger" in Maori. She is impulsive and has an aura of authority. She is also very intelligent.

House: Gryffindor

Blood Type: Pureblood, but feels like blood types are racist. Everyone at Hogwarts is a wizard, regardless of their blood type.

Quidditch Position: None

Other: Taika is an unregistered animagus who naturally transforms into a tiger. Also, she has a very tough burrowing owl.

It'll be tough to play an impulsive charrie! I have a bit of a reputation for being levelheaded. Should be fun!

I sit at the Ravenclaw table, listening to Umbridge drone on and on. Mei is talking with a bunch of second year Slytherins. I would go over, but I'm too afraid of the second years. Finally, the second years have gone away. I go over to Mei.

"Hey Lei!" she waves me over.

"Hi Mei. What do you think about the Voldemort coming back thing?"

"I believe it." Mei surprises me.

"Well, I don't. I think he's just showing off."

Mei laughs for some reason. She always laughs.

"Hey, have you listened to the short woman speaking?"

"A little," I answer. "Something about progress being prohibited?"

She laughs again. "She's from the Ministry, isn't she?"

"I think so."

She stops laughing.

"You know what that means?"

"The Ministry sent someone..."

"To interfere at Hogwarts," we say together.

I'm new to roleplaying, so sorry if my roleplaying is really bad.

I'm gonna do a little roleplay here-

Taika~

I'm finally at King's Cross! I hurriedly grab a trolley and dash to the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Without hesitating, I race through it, With a whoosh, I am through! My mom says, " Taika, Don't forget to write! I love you!" I quickly touch her nose with mine, then hop aboard the Hogwarts Express. I walk down the isle, searching for an empty compartment, I find one, and get in.

The concessions lady comes by and I buy some chocolate frogs. I don't collect the cards, but I just like the chocolate. To keep the frog from squirming, though, you have to kill it. Sounds weird- Let's go kill some chocolate! It's easy. Just tear its throat. As I munch on one's forearm, a girl walks by. She asks if she can join my compartment. She seems nice, so I pat the seat next to me and offer her a chocolate frog.

Is it okay if someone from the RP is that girl? And if I can be friends with Saphira Winters? And touching noses is a traditional Maori greeting.

Is there anyone in this RP that's in Gryffindor? Beside me...

First DADA class today. I'm really not looking forward to it. Still, I slide into my seat right on time, with all my books. You never know who you'll want to make a good impression on.
The new professor walks in primly. Some students straighten up in their seats as she walks in; others groan a bit and slump.
Umbridge ignores this and writes her name on the board in perfect curly script.
"Today, we will begin learning the theory of defensive spells," she says, and her voice is driving me insane. I take a breath. It's not her fault how her voice sounds, right? She launches into a lecture similar to the speech she made at the opening feast, and I quickly fade into a reverie. I'm not warming up to her.
It's not like I have anything to compare her to- my three past DADA teachers were a famous narcissist, an impostor, and one who was actually good but apparently turned out to be a werewolf...I never heard the end of that story. But, past experience notwithstanding, she is still really annoying. I'm not paying attention- so much for my reputation of being liked by teachers. I mean, at least Professor Snape ignores me most of the time, since I pay attention pretty much, and pull my potions together well enough. Professor Umbridge is something else altogether.
She's finished her lecture. I snap out of my daydream and attempt to look attentive.
"Now, we shall only be studying theory, remember, so you needn't have your wands out for this class."
I frown. That's...odd. I mean, what's the point of DADA if you don't learn to do it?
I try to stay awake for the rest of class. It's incredibly difficult. I shoot a glance at Philomena. She sees me and makes a face. I smirk, then turn back to the theory book we're reading. I read the first chapter without taking in a word of it. Others give up before finishing. I glance around, then begin to pick at the binding of the textbook. After an eternity, the bell rings. The class lets out a collective sigh of relief.

It's the first day! I get out of my bunk and hurriedly get dressed. I run down the staircase to the common room. Some first years are there, and they ask me a bunch of questions about people dying in labyrinths underground. I guess that they mean the Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets thing a couple years ago. I reassure them by telling them that the chamber is closed and it's highly unlikely that they are going to die. Another wanted to know about the Triwizard Tournament last year. I told her that it was, well, illuminating. I get my schedule and head to my first class, Potions. Snape's nastier than a swarm of mosquitoes in summer, I'll tell you that much. He especially hates Gryffindors. Probably because of Harry Potter.

Tonight, I creep out of bed and into the common room. There, I shift into a tiger and sit before the dark hearth. I wonder why they let a Ministry lady as nasty as Umbridge teach at Hogwarts. Eventually, I last down on the rug and fall asleep.

Saphira~

It's the first day. After the boring speech Professor Umbridge gave last night, I don't know if I'm looking forward to it much. Well, on the other hand, I have Transfiguration first, which may be difficult but is also very fun.

I scoop the last bite of scrambled eggs into my mouth and hurry off to McGonagall's classroom. I'm one of the first, which I'm happy about; I can get the perfect seat, the left-hand side of the third row.

Transfiguration goes by very quickly, and soon I'm lined up in front of the DADA classroom. Time to see if that speech from last night reflected the new professor's personality.

Five minutes in, it did.

The "theory" of defense was definitely not what I was expecting. Last year, I was Imperioused and tought how to do the Shield Charm by numerous, harsh attacks. The year before, I tackled everything from Boggarts to Red Caps. And in the first year, I had some reasonable teachings. But in terms of uselessness, this new professor fell along with Lockhart, who ended up with permanent memory loss.

When class is over, I practically sprint out of the room. I really won't be looking forward to coming back.
