The Story Graveyard

What are some books/stories you have started writing but never finished? Post them here with a short synopsis and we can commiserate!

Some of mine from a few years ago...

Lucilly of the Lake A girl who lives in a poor fishing village must go on a quest to find a magical herb that will save her dying friend, but her quest is made challenging by the very intimidating "mosquito mosnters".

Brooklyn & Addie A realistic fiction about two young sisters and their cute little adventures. Excruciatingly boring!

Liflaloses A forbidden magical power can bring inanimate objects to life. It seems like someone has it, but who? And why? (This was an interesting premise, but it started rambling on and on about the adventures of some doll who was brought to life, and never got started on the real story!)

Oh my goodness I have so many! I wouldn't say they're dead. Just dormant, for now...

The Squirrel War A crazy inventer is trying to keep the neighborhood squirrels from getting to the seed inside his bird feeder. Of course, this has been going on forever. But the squirrels from the forest are getting smarter, and when the daughter of one of the chiefs of the squirrel tribes is kidnapped by the inventor's children, how far will this feud go?

Senior Gatito and the Party Llama A hotel cat is very happy, until one day a guest brings home a party llama! A cute children's book inspired by real events.

My Dear Ravenclaw A HP fanfiction that takes places during Harry Potter'stime at Hogwarts. Touches up on subjects the books never spoke about, such as LGBTQ+ kids at Hogwarts, what Harry missed during his last year, how the Triwizard Tournament appeared to the audience, and and how the girls reacted to Harry trashing their bathrooms (honestly Potter, first the troll incident during your first year and then the 'Chamber of Secrets' incident. You wonder why they made those 'Potter Stinks' badges)

The Wing A graphic novel I really need to work on about a teenage superhero...

I'd really like to read Brooklyn & Addy! It sounds cute :)

Brooklyn and Addie was kind of cute but it never really went anywhere.

Ok, here are some of mine:

Dragon eye: I found this writing prompt online that went something like, "My brown eye sees normally, but my green eye sees so much more". I wrote about a girl who lived in a palace and could see dragons. Tiny, tiny dragons.

There are more, but I'm too tired to write about them.

I have a couple that I really just can't be bothered to finish:

Outlanders, Book 1: Birthright: A Fantasy story where there's this kingdom called Darulin that doesn't accept anybody less than perfect. Those who aren't are exiled to a desert-likeplace that they think is impossible to survive in called the Outlands. The exiled Outlanders soon build a camp for new, and old exiled, and thrive in their own culture outside of the kingdom. The story focuses on a boy named Jason, who is... You know what, I think I'm just going to post this as a solo write on the inkwell.

Ink: A young girl discovers that she has the bloodline of ancient demon-slayers of Japan, and is gifted with a magic paintbrush she can use to disspell them. I just kinda got bored writing it.

Hillbillies Eat Corn: Two hobos named Travis and Eddie do a bunch of weird and dumb stuff, ike race in shopping carts and play a game called 'Donk!' where you whack a guy on the head with a water bottle and say, "DONK! I WEEN!" It got annoying, even to me.

I think that's it! Time to get to the Inkwell!

My brother had the same writing prompt, and he wrote about a girl who could see tiny little pixies at this haunted house...

Yeah, I bet we both got it from Gail Carson Levine's book, Writing Magic! However, when I tried to write mine I had terrible, awful grammer and confused myself so much that I had to stop.

Here's another story:

Golem: A girl travels to Prague to see if the Golem in the Old Synagogue is real. She meets a boy, the son of the rabbi, and they go to explore the attic, where the golem supposedly resides. This was my NaNo story this year, but I haven't worked on it in a while!

Dragon Eye sounds fun, and I really wish I could read the Outlanders. Here are some more of mine.

I Live in  a Supermarket (Stop Laughing!) When Alice's parents die, she and her brother recieve a strange note telling them to come to the nearest Costco Wholesale. You know, the one on Brasdly Street. There, they meet the vast network of orphan children, runaways, and strays who live in the supermarkets. But what happens when child services finds them?

The Sun has Exploded This was when I learned I sucked at writing science fiction. End of story. i didn't even get past page three.

The Library About a girl who moves to a new town. If that weren't bad enough, now she's living in the attic of the old town library! How will she survive the move, school, and the odd boy that works at the library with her? This ought to be an interesting year.

My Locker only Opens for Meghna Koya Xavier has never opened a combination lock before Middle School. And it turns out, he rather sucks at it. His locker won't open for him. Or Freddie, or Nate, or Patrick, or even the weird kid who always wears five different socks on each foot, no matter the weather. He asks everyone in the school, until the new girl from India walks over and asks to give it a try. And the locker door flies open at her hands. Through their new relationship, they end up becoming close friends. Xavier learns about Meghna's home troubles, and Meghna of Xavier's at school. Who knew that a loker could bring two people together?

Note: Many of these titles are not the solid titles. I tend to name my books after I write them, and since I never finished writing them, these guys never got their real names. Poor, poor books.

One Less than Infinity: The only book I have worth finishing so far. Just kinda frustrated because I have to rewrite the whole thingy. Sophia is a small girl with a big mind, bursting full with ideas that she loves sharing with her friends. Then one day, everything changes. She's moving to a whole new state, and in doing so she'll leave behind her beloved scholastic bowl team. 7th grade is coming up, and drama lies in wait. In her new inviroment, Sophia sets three goals.

1. Stay in touch with my friends

2. Don't get picked on

3. Stay smart

But when she gets into school, she relizes something terrible. WHERE'S THE SCHOLASTIC BOWL TEAM?!?!?!

Here's one:

Emma and Quincy: Battle for Friendship   Emma, a girly girl with fire powers and Quincy, a tomboy girl with water powers, must figt together to save their friendship and the world from an evil force.  Poorly written, boring, and unfinished.

Oh, and I'm also going through this phase where I'm writing stories from the point of view of an inanimate object. I have one about a pen, a pink cashmere sweater, and a whole drama going on between my school textbooks about how there isn't enough room in my bookbag for all of them.

I'm weird.

You know, I should really write about that. . . I have the biggest backpack in the whole seventh grave -- I-I mean, grade!  Come to think of that, I should write a story about that as well. . .  My mind looks like my desk

It's really fun writing from the POV of an inanimate object. I suggest it.
