Chatterbox: Inkwell

Two Kingdoms Birthday RP! (The RP itself has nothing to do with birthdays. I’m making because I just turned thirteen.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was once was a large and prosperous kingdom ruled by a wise and generous King. He had two daughters, twins, the elder with raven black hair, the younger, hair of flaxen gold. Their mother, an exciting and diplomatic woman, died during childbirth, and he was left to raise two very different children on his own. The girls grew to be wise beyond their years, but there was always a divide between them. The elder, Catherine, was a great negotiator. She fought her wars with words, not deeds, and was the happier for it. The younger, Adeline, was a great adventurer, who traveled across the land, living among her people for years, and slaying many a dragon. When the King died, it was his wish that the two sisters rule the kingdom in tangent. This worked for a time, but soon the sisters fought, and Catherine, hoping to avoid more bloodshed, suggested a solution. The Kingdom would be divided in halves between the two sisters, each becoming the sole ruler of one smaller nation. Adeline agreed, and took the prosperous southern Kingdom, while Catherine received the harsh yet beautiful north. The sisters went their separate ways, and the two kingdoms remained on cordial yet distant terms. However, as time stretched onward, the descendants of Adeline and Catherine grew further apart, until the countries relationship was strained at best. Now, the two kingdoms are teetering on the brink of outright war, and the kingdoms themselves are divided. Some want reunification, others, revolution. The two queens of the twin nations, descendants of Catherine and Adeline, are pressured and manipulated by advisors on all sides. Several death threats have surfaced, and each ruler is paranoid.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, now that we have our overly dramatic setting, I’ll explain a bit more about the world of the RP.

The only sentient species are humans, dwarves, and part elves. The true elves vanished years ago, but their descendants remain. Humans are by for the most common, and populate most of the two kingdoms. (Henceforth referred to as Northern Feradel and Southern Feradel) They are able to brew potions and use spellbooks, but it takes years of practice and dedication. Part elves are rare but not unheard of. They are more common in southern Feradel, but can be found in the north as well. They look human, and tend to have blonde hair and light blue or green eyes. They have a natural affinity toward healing and nature, but can not use proper magic. Dwarves live in the mountains in Northern Feredel, and consider themselves a sovereign nation. They have made an alliance with the Queen of Northern Feredel, and if it comes to war, the Dwarves will aid the North. A few Dwarves live among humans, often taking jobs as craftsmen or mercenaries. They are a short and stocky people, and generally have red or brown hair and a ruddy complexion. They are naturally talented warriors and metalworkers, and take great pride in what they do. They have crafting magic that can enchant swords, shields and the like, but can not do the same type of spells humans can. The twin Kingdoms are populated by various magical creatures, like dragons, gryphons, and ogres. Dragons are clever beasts who kill for food and sport. They are utterly vicious. Gryphons are good steeds, and are generally genial when tamed. Ogres are stupid creatures who enjoy kidnapping young maidens, and make a habit of saying things in dumb, vaguely ominous rhymes. Feel free to include other magical beasts as well. This takes place generations after the split of the Kingdom, when any geniality that existed between the two halfs had long since ceased. Political tensions are running high, and conditions in both countries have grown steadily worse. Both countries have problems with dragon and ogre attacks, and the south is in a crippling drought, spreading famine through out both countries, as most of the norths food supply is bought from the south. There are rumors of a revolution, a fringe movement calling for reunification, and the two countries are close to war. I’d like to have a good mix of species, but I’d prefer to have a few more humans. It’s okay if a few charries have magic, but potion ingredients and spellbooks are expensive, so poorer charries are a lot less likely to be magical. Here are the rules:

  1. Two charries max please. I might be persuaded to make an exception, but I find that three characters per person is just confusing.

  2. The more the merrier! While I’m not allowing people to join after we start RPing, there’s no limit to the number of people we can have.

  3. No OP characters. It’s no fun if one character can do everything.

  4. No true elves, because they vanished centuries ago. I’d prefer we don’t have any half of one species, half of something else, but if you must. You can’t RP as a dragon or a gryphon or an ogre. (I guess you could do an ogre, but they are dumb as rocks and twice as smelly.) Also, magic powers are more of an ancient art form, than something you can just do. Anyone, with enough practice, can do small magic, but very few are any good at it.

  5. I’m totally open to a romantic subplot or two. That being said, everyone doesn’t have to be dating someone.

  6. Try to use as correct grammar and spelling as you can. (I misspelled spelling at first. Irony!) It doesn’t have to perfect, and I’m not going to go through your posts looking for errors, but try your hardest. Spelling and grammer are often really important if you want you posts to be understood correctly.

  7. Be dedicated. I really don’t want this to die, so try to post as often as you can. I totally understand if life gets busy, but please stay with this.

Here’s the charrie sheet.

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Species: Human

Appearance: Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, small, perfectly painted red lips, a large, hawkish nose. She’s tall and slender. Her skin is unaturally pale, and she flushes a bright scarlet when embarassed.

Personality: She’s compassionate, clever, and reserved. She’s a skilled negotiator, and has trained for years in etiquette, diplomacy, and politics. She listens to everthing that is being said, and knowledge is very important to her. She sometimes will take the advise of her councilors, but keeps her positions, policies, and thoughts close to her chest. She’s slow to trust people, but if you do gain her trust, she will be your ally for life. She cares greatly about the suffering of her people, and makes decisions motivated by that. She takes care to study other cultures, and understand them. She isn’t easily angry, but if you invoke her wrath, she holds a grudge for years. She tries her hardest to remain enigmatic and in control when in the public eye, which can be very draining. Her emotions are much stronger than her subjects believe. Other: Anyone can make the Queen of Southern Feredel.

Name: Maeve

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Species: Human

Appearance: Slender and small, wears a dark gray-blue coat slightly ripped at the edges with purple glowing stripes on the back, and a dark purple gem with green edges protruding from the back. The coat is ripped on the left arm, with bandages wrapped around the arm where the sleeve should have been. Dark brown boots, tight gray pants, and a worn tunic. A brown belt with daggers attached. Messy Bright green hair cut in a bob, with catlike light blue eyes peeking out.

Personality: Intelligent, witty, and resourceful. Rather manipulative, but quiet. Not kind in the slightest, and will stab you in the back whenever she gets the chance. However, she is merciful when it comes to her mercenary work, and usually quick with getting it done. Practical, won't work in a team, but mischevious in her ways. Can do something that helps the world out if it pays.

Affiliations: only herself. She's a mercenary and assassin. She lives in the South, however.

Talents: She specializes in poisons and throwing daggers. She has learned some tricks of the trade spells for people like her, so she can jump higher, climb walls faster, and overall be quicker than most humans. She's also very intelligent and resourceful. That's about it.

Backstory: After being left by her parents in a broken down poor part of a city, a group of assassins decided to take her in. She has now left them and is going on her own.

Ooh, this looks like fun! I may not have time to post regularly, but I'll keep up with it and post whenever I can.

Name: Farli Grilcorn

Age: 32

Gender: M

Species: Dwarf

Appearance: Farli is short and stocky, with bulging muscles and stumpy legs. His skin is a light brown, but often looks darker because he gets covered with soot. His hair is a ruddy red, curly and cut so it goes around his ears and ends in a rat tail on his neck. His hands are calloused and often dirty, his fingernails worn down to the skin. He wears a white shirt, rolled up to above the elbows, and black pants, plus a grey, smudged apron while working.

Personality: Farli is one of the most stubborn people you'll ever meet. He's quick-thinking, but he also draws conclusions easily, and stays by his conclusion until every single one of his points has been shattered into a million pieces - and even then, sometimes, he picks them up and tries to piece them back together. If you gain his respect, he is incredibly loyal to you, and will not waver from your side. He's a bit of a pessimist and a grumbler, but he cares for everyone around him and will put others' life above his. He's also rather paranoid and has made elaborate escape plans for quite a few disasters in his regular posts.

Affiliations: Farli is incredibly loyal to his own govornment, ready to serve at a moment's notice. However, he is aware that one of the smiths he works with is part of a secret rebellion - someone he respects enough to not share.

Talents: Making enchanted swords has always been Farli's specialty, but he's generally a very talented blacksmith. It came naturally, though it took years of work to learn how to enchant even a simple sword.

Backstory: Farli grew up in the dwarven kingdom, honing his smithing abilities. When his parents realized he was something special, they found a magical tutor for him. He wasn't very interested in going above and beyond, though, and contented himself with small items to enchant.

Other: If someone wants to make the smith I mentioned, that would be really cool.

This is a really good idea and i hope this RP lasts for a long time.

Name: Miyuki Kukiko

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Species: Part Elf

Appearance: Tall, pale skin, very pale blue eyes and silver hair. Slim with a heart shaped face. She has very good posture and is very graceful and quick on her feet. She wears light colored clothes to blend in with the snow, mainly like pants and tunics. Keeps a bow and quiver of arrows with her at all times. She also has a wolfskin cloak and a light blue topaz necklace.

Personality: She is calm and peaceful, rather like untouched snow. She loves nature and animals. Her best friend is a white wolf that she has lived with since she was a small child. She is very polite but a tad uncivilized at times from living in the wild. She is very litteral and does not understand sarcasm at all. She loves to sit and meditate and is very good at healing as well as hunting.

Affiliations: She is mostly a loner that is not affiliated with anyone, however she does have a small aliance with Beatrice.

Talents: Healing, hunting, talking to animals.

Backstory: She woke up when she was like 10ish in the middle of a snow drift. She dug her way out and saw a lone wolf walking across the snow a few feet away. She slowly stood and stumbled after it. It was clear that the wolf new she was following it. At some points when she had to stop and rest it would even wait for her. Eventually they reached its den ant it nudged her inside. She has lived with it ever since, at some point discovering that she could communicate with it.

Other: Umm..... I don't know.

No problem! Good idea!

Name: Nénara Rundalos

Age: Around 14-ish (In human years. Part elves are not eternal, but they still live for a while. Also, I made her a bit younger on purpose. :)

Gender: Female

Species: Part elf

Appearance: Her hair is blonde with many light blonde and other shades of blonde (streaks) in it. It is straight at the top, but becomes loose curls at the bottom, which is rare, considering that she is an elf and they generally have straight hair. Her hair isn't as long either, because of the curls, so it only goes down to about her shoulder blades. She has fair skin and many some freckles (again, weird I know, considering she's part elf, but don't worry, she still has elf traits) and slightly pointed ears. It's her eyes that really distinguish her. She has light turquoise eyes with a grey tint and a gold rim that can change colours at times. She is also slim and fast, and very agile in her movements. Her ears are slightly pointed, but also dulled at the same times (because she is also human). She usually wears a regular coloured tunic and pants, and she'll always have a dark cloak with a hood over it. Always. And even when she has to wear a dress, she'll still wear the cloak. The only times she takes it off is when she's at an event, and even then, she has a shawl of some sort. She'll also sometimes wear a forehead tiara, and she has a bow and arrow that she has on her at all times.

Personality: Unlike most elves, she isn't serious and hasn't really learned her place. Instead of being quiet and learning to help and heal with nature, she likes to spend most of her time in the woods, riding on her horse and practicing shooting. Elves that don't know her would be surprised by the way that she acts (maybe Miyuki can when she first meets her?), and she's awfully curious and inquisitive. She's very smart, but doesn't like to make a big deal about it, and other people like to be around her. She's not loud, but she is funny, friendly, and very adventurous.

Affiliations: She's the princess of Southern Feredel. Like I said, not a normal part-elf or princess.

Talents: She can actually speak fluent Elvish, and uses it to communicate with her horse and other creatures. She's still learning how to heal, but she has a special power where she can make light in a dark situation. It's hard to explain but she almost brings people back to the light when they are extremely injured or-you know what, it's similar to Arwen's ability in LOTR, except she doesn't have the Evenstar.

Backstory: Her dad (who is now deceased) was of Elvish descent, her mother a human. Her mother is the Queen of Southern Feredel. (If anyone wants to be her, they can. Just make her however you want.)

Other: None that I can think of. I'm sorry if I made any spelling errors.

(April 26, 2017 - 11:20 pm)

Name: Morrigan Selene Velaris

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Species: Demi-elf

Appearance: Bright turquoise eyes, which are the main tell as to who her parents are. Her hair is silky smooth, flowing down her back to her waist, but she typically keeps it in a braid, which is tied back with a simple piece of ribbon. Her hair colour is a shade of gold so pale that it looks silver in the moonlight, with natural flame coloured streaks peeking out from the underlayer of hair. Her stature is on the taller end of average, and she is much stronger than she appears to be. She could hold her own in close combat, due to her days of commanding her small regiment.

Personality: She switches personalities with as little effort as it takes to switch hats. As commander of her regiment, she is as ruthless, yet not cruel. She is cold and stark and unafraid to do what must be done. It should be noted that the soldiers she commands do not know that she is the princess, as she commands them under the name of Zerkala Slomanaya. Among her people, she is bright and shining. She is lovable, laughs easily, is charming, and diplomatic. Among her court, she is stoic and poised. She is well mannered, witty, and patient. These are just a few of the personalities she assumes, but they are her most often used ones, too. Morrigan is rarely, if ever, simply herself.

Affiliations: Daughter of the Queen of Southern Feredel. Secretly commands a small regiment of her mother's army "per my Mother's orders. I require hands on experience before I become ruler". She knows a few of the city’s better assassins, and considers some of them her friends. Also, she her current maid was born in the North, so Mor has some connection to their side of the country.

Talents: Being whoever the people around her need her to be. Thinking on the spot. Photographic memory.

Backstory: She is the daughter of the Queen, but she doesn't know who her father is. No one does. Some believe that Morrigan is a bastard born princess, but since the court loves her and her regiment don’t know her true identity, nobody ever bothered to question it further. Due to her heritage, she learned to speak the Elvish language, and she can perform very basic healing. Surprisingly enough, she can actually heal fairly deep wounds and she is hoping to learn how to mend bones, etc. as she gains more experience.

Other: @Killim, I didn’t see your charrie sheet until I had already written mine. Is it okay if our charries are siblings? I’ve changed a few of my charrie’s qualities to make us seem more like sisters.
