Medieval Manor RPG!!

Medieval Manor RPG!!

So, I adore realistic fiction, and I have been feeling the need for a lovely, medieval, realistic fiction roleplay. What do ya'll think?

Okay, the story is set on eighty acres of beautiful meadows and woods. Near the front of this property, behind a driveway lined with poplar trees, sits a sprawling stone mansion. It is at least three stories high, and bedecked with curving windows and peaked gables. The name of the red-roof tiled country home is Iriandor. The family who owns it, the Newcombes, have many servants: maids, cooks, governesses, workers, coachmen, stablemen, gardeners, and village subjects over which they excersise authority.

On a rather overcast and chill Thursday, the housemaids, gardeners, and stablemen learn of an insidious plot to drive the houselords out of Iriandor and take it over. The rather grumpy and malicious Lord Caine will stop at almost nothing to retrieve Iriandor for himself. Of course, if he suceeds, it will mean the loss of jobs for many people and their families, and the beautiful manor itself. So, the servants and villagers decide to step in to save their beloved Iriandor.

Ya'll can create any characters as you see fit, as long as they sort of fit in the categories of:    The Newcombes, a servant of some type, or a villager.

I'm okay with two characters, but do try to add variety. Don't make two villagers or two Newcombes. If tons of people make servants of villagers or something, maybe make something else, unless you have a charrie you absolutely cannot part with.

Character sheet:

Name:

Age:

Appearance:

Social status (what type of villager, servant, or Newcombe):

Personality:

Favorite color:

Personal reason why he/she wants to save Iriandor:

Backstory (if you have one):

My characters:

Name: Jason Newcombe

Age: 13

Appearance: Half-curly pale brown hair, lots of freckles, and dark brown eyes. He is kind of short for thirteen and a boy, and he knows it. He has rather pale skin, and is relatively agile, but maybe not fit, just flexible.

Social status (what type of villager, servant, or Newcombe): He is the owners' son

Personality: He is not school-smart, more putting-things-together-like-a-puzzle smart. He would be really good at one of our modern-day escape room riddles. He is extremely mishchievious, and will only want to do something wrong if you tell him not to. Jason hates mannerly things, and despises socially acceptableness. He doesn't really like new stuff, or change very much.

Favorite color: dark blue

Personal reason why he/she wants to save Iriandor: Well, it is his house, but he has really good memories of keeping frogs in one of the basement rooms, and he likes the windows because they are really good for climbing out of. He also has some emotional reasons. See backstory.

Backstory (if you have one): When he was eight, he managed to escape from a house fire with his family. They were all fine, but their dog was trapped inside, and didn't make it out. Jason was best friends with that dog. He doesn't like the thought of losing his house again. He likes to be familiar with one place and stay there.

Other character:

Name: Adelaide, daughter of Eric

Age: 15, but she acts younger :P

Appearance: Long strawberry-blond hair, and blue eyes. She is a little over average height, and is very slender. Adeleide has a pale pink scar on her cheek from an accident when she was little.

Social status (what type of villager, servant, or Newcombe): She is the gardener's daughter

Personality: Quiet, but inside, she is bursting with life and color. It's just hard for her to interact with other people. She like to be in the woods, alone, usually next to running water. If you happen to catch her when she thinks she is alone, you might see her dancing, or singing, or both. However, she is very socially awkward.

Favorite color: red, or pink

Personal reason why he/she wants to save Iriandor: Adelaide adores the property, and the gardens that are on it. She also likes the brook. She really doesn't know much about the family, or the story of why Iriandor needs saving. She just wants to rescue the woods.

Backstory (if you have one): She has lived with her dad all her life in a tiny cottage just outside the forest surrounding Iriandor. When she was three, she slipped and fell on a sharp cutting tool, which is where she got her scar.

I'm reserving a spot for two characters: both girls. One is a cousin who lives with the Newcombes and the other is her maid.  What time period is this RP set in BTW?  And where is it set?  Is it more medival or modern and is in England, France, or somewhere else?

Name: Eleanor Hafish

Age: 13

Appearance: Eleanor has long dark hair (although she keeps it done up in braids, so you wouldn't be able to tell the length), and light gray eyes. Somewhat muscular, and usually wears a red dress. Her appearance is always a little bit wild looking.

Social status (what type of villager, servant, or Newcombe): Servant. Now that she's old enough, she works as a maid, serving food. Her mother is the head cook.

Personality: Adventerous and quite rebellious. She tries to look for a way to make things fun in life, and is almost always the first one to start goofing off- she's learning to save her energy for more appropriate times. Mostly friendly, but her temper flares up quick. She's smart, but doesn't apply herself. And she doesn't particularly feel "ladylike".

Favorite color: Dark red and dark green

Personal reason why he/she wants to save Iriandor: It's her home. Her mother works there.

Backstory (if you have one): Her father died several years ago, so it's just her and her mom. Perhaps they live in the mansion, if there are servant's quarters? (Not sure what exactly you're envisioning.) She's grown up around the mansion, playing on the grounds, and sometimes doing errands for her mother. Maybe she's friends with Justin?

Ooh this looks great!!!

name: Emilie (no last name)

age: 13

appearance: Long, straight brown hair that is not quite dark brown, midnight-blue eyes, and pale-ish skin, and usually wears plain tunics and leggings, mostly gray

social status: servant/villager

personality: later, I will finish her sometime soon but I gotta go

yay I can finish!!!

Personality: Quiet, shy, reserved, intelligent, clever, loyal, observant, slim, athletic, fast, agile, curious

favorite color: gray and midnight blue

personal reason why he/she wants to save Iriandor: No reason in particular but she kinda gets caught up in all of it

backstory: She was an orphan that the owners of Iriandor kindly gave a home and a job helping around the mansion and caring for the horses, and often has nightmares of when her parents dies in a fire when Emilie was about five

I was like...is this my cousin Elizabeth or a new Elizabeth? I read the "y'all." That settled it for me. Welcome back QE!

@Codesmith and everyone else: The time is basically like Robin Hood, King Richard, King Arthur-ish times. Yes, there are servant's quarters; they're in a separate "wing" of the manor.  But, Adelaide lives in a small cottage just off the manor with her dad, so you could do that too.

*sings* Heeeeeeeeeeeeer I ammmmm! Okay, so I wanted to do two characters, but I ALWAYS do that and it's hard to keep up with, so I'm going to make....TWINS! I don't know how I'll split the time between them. Oh well!

Name: Carmine Silver His sister calls him Carmi, although he has asked her to stop.

Age: 14

Appearance: see avatar

Social status (what type of villager, servant, or Newcombe): Distant relative of the Newcombes who settled in the same area. So, like, Jason's cousin or something. Does that work?

Personality: Sometimes serious, sometimes impishly annoyed (if that makes any sense). He's awful at math or science or reading, instead he quietly studies social life and cultural things on his own. He often gets frusterated at her sister and her "short-sightedness." When he's really cheerful, however, he will often come out of his shell and be friendly, although usually his sister has to force him to. His biggest passion, however, is music. He loves the flute and piano.

Favorite color: The deepest blue imaginable.

Personal reason why he/she wants to save Iriandor: This may seem silly, but, deep down, it's really because of the music room and the big grand piano.

Backstory (if you have one):  Shall be developed b/c I really need to hurry and get to my Nano Novel.

Name: Carmin Silver

Age: 14 (twins!)

Appearance: Avatar.

Social status (what type of villager, servant, or Newcombe): Same as Carmine's.

Personality: Bubbly, enthusiastic, and childish. She laughs and talks easily. Because of this, Carmine and Carmin are easily mistaken for siblings at least a year appart, instead of twins. In reality, she was born a little before Carmine! Sometimes people shake her off lightly and assume her to be shallow and silly. Even her brother tells her all the time; "oh, grow up!" She also loves music, but is more talented at singing than playing. While Jason and Carmine don't really get along, Carmin would probably be totes besties with Adelaide!

Favorite color: a deep pink that hasn't yet strayed into purple's territory and is still pure pink.

Personal reason why he/she wants to save Iriandor: Because it brings people and family and the surrounding community together.

Oops, only Carmine posted. Carmin looks almost alike, she is just generally more cheerful-looking and her hair is longer and tangled in little braids.

Ok here's my characters:

Name: Rosalind Montclair

Age: 16

Apperance: She has long dark hair and very pale skin. She has dark eyes that are full of starlight.  She usually wears long green dresses and a small locket with her hair in a long braid.

Status: She is a cousin of the Newcombes who lives with them since her own parents have left on a long journey to oversee the estate they have inherited in France.(I'm assuming that this is in England.)

Personality: Rosalind is very dreamy but at the same time very socially adept.  She is a follower and gets nervous when projects are entrusted for her to lead. She is a lover of nature, books, and music.

Favorite color:  Yellow gold

Personal reason why she wishes to save Iriandor: Well because Iriandor is her temporary home and also because she feels obligated to the Newcombes for taking her in.

Backstory: Will post later.

I'm going to post her maid later too!

Whahoo! I so did not think that this many people would join this fast! I haven't seen many realistic fiction RPs on the Inkwell, really.

@Rosebud: Ooh, yes, I think that Carmin and Adelaide would be really good friends. Opposites attract!

@Everyone: Jason is aquaintances (I cannot spell) with a lot of the manor kids, so if ya'll want to make a friend or seven for him, go ahead. He is a rather likable person and is extremely sociable. Also, he likes sports. Didn't mention that.

TOP!

Would love to join!

Name: Gwen

Age: 13

Appearance: unsure

Social status: Stablegirl

Personality:Horse lover, kind, daring, yet has a kind of "stage fright" when it comes to speaking or acting in front of large groups of people

Favorite color: Black, White, Shades of Gray

Personal reason why he/she wants to save Iriandor: See Backstory

Backstory (if you have one): Gwen's grandfather was the first to come across the the Newcombes, and decided to work as a stable-man, bringing two fine horses into the Newcomb stables. Gwen's family worked for them ever since. Gwen owns one of the horses, and knows if anyone was to take away Iriandor, the home for the horses will be gone. She is also unable to think of losing all of her friends at Iriandor having to go somewhere else for a job.

Eleanor would probably be good friends with Justin and Gwen, because they are both around her age.

Okey-dokey, we will probably start soon. Just waiting for some people to post who reserved spots. Anyone can jump in at any time, though, because we can always use another villager or servant or something of that nature. :)
