Spontaneous RP!

Spontaneous RP!

Sometimes I feel like we get so caught up in the developement and rules of a RP that it dies before we even make it very far (I know that's happened to me...Combat Cliff RPG, Griffinfeather RPG the first...and more).

So, let's just do some writing.

two rules.

1. Put forth your absolute best. Even if it's not going to be published or maybe no one else but me will read it. It's good for your writing. Trust me.

2. Make sure everything lines up! Mostly!! Inserting random flying unicorns is okay, but killing a character off and then making them reappear might be a little confusing.

If you are still confuzzled, check out this thread to see what I mean:

http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/65463

just make up a character and join the story. You can be a character I've mentioned or somebody new. My characters are Pheonix and Carlena.

Without further ado, let us begin.

~

"Carlena scratched at the wall's smooth surface, her heart pounding so loud she could hardly think. The dark rectangle seemed to close in around her, pressing in on all sides; squeezing her lungs flat and yanking away all the oxygen. The air was hot and sizzling with frusteration and fear. Throwing herself against the wall, Carlena melted onto the floor. She was stuck. Enclosed in a horrible crystal box while her own dear sister, Caroll, was set on destroying Jewel Academy. All she could do was sit here, helpless and terrified out of her wits, while Caroll did away with everything she worked towards. Carlena tried to take a calming breath and found she could not breath. The walls were closing in...her eyes whirled crazily around the shadows; searching for an exit. If Cassey doesn't get the children out of the academy in time, they'll all... Carlena let out a frusterated gasp of despiration. Oh come on, Carlena! You can't let a little claustrophobia defeat you, girl! She said to herself. The spunky Galaxy Witch sat up slowly and brushed back the gigantic bush of chalk-white, ankle length hair from her damp forehead. Carlena then—"

"Pheonix! Jaihra's on the phone!" My older sister called from downstairs.

"COMING!" I yelled back, dropping The Charming Adventures of Carlena the Galaxy Witch to the floor. Galexia looks up at me in surprise from her nest of pillows on the floor, her eyes clouded, obviously still deep inside the story.

"But...that's not fair! Nixie!" My little sister moans, "What happens to Carlena? What happens to the seven sisters and the academy?"

"You're just going to have to find out next time!" I say with a wink. Galexia shakes her head furiously, sending her fluffy brown pigtails into a frenzy,

"It's not fair that I don't get to see what happens next because you wanna go talk to your giiiiirlfriend," she says angrily. On the last word, an evil smile begins to curl on her lips. I stop half-way to the door.

"Jaihra is NOT my girlfriend. And we have very important things to talk about," I retort hotly before rushing out of Galexia's frilly, pink bedroom and down the stairs, taking the story book with me. The wood steps creak under my feet as I race down, nearly slipping on the last one.

"Yeah, Jaihra, he's coming," I hear my 21-year-old sister, Andromeda, say, Rounding the corner, I can see her leaning against the counter in a red tank top and shorts, her long brown hair in a messy braid over one shoulder. She has my phone tucked between her hear and shoulder while she casually flips through pages of her sketchbook, twirling a bright blue pencil with her free hand.

"I'm here!" I yell breathlessly in her face.

"Took you long enough," she says, rolling her eyes and handing over the phone, "go take your chatting upstairs. You two 'll talk my ears off. Upstairs!" She commands, pointing her pencil.

"Hi Jaihra!" I greet into the phone.

"Hi Pheonix! Ummm...are you alone??" She asks cautiously, "I have an update on...you know...project Milky Way Sorceress and...uh...the Precious Stone School," she hints not-so-subtly.

"Yeah, just a sec," I answer, dashing back upstairs to my room and bouncing onto my bed.

"Okay! Shoot!" I exclaim, tossing down the story book beside me. It flips open to the title page; which is covered with words I'm glad Galexia can't read yet.

For my nephew, Pheonix. I hope you enjoy my charming adventures!!! Please keep in mind that these are all absolutely true and my heroism was not exagerated in the least. Hope that you can soon join me in Jewel Academy! Once you set out on your journey to find it, that is.

Your Aunt Carlena, the spunky Galaxy Witch

P.S. do not show this to anyone or I may have to incenerate them.

I let the book cover slide closed. Yeah, Galaxia, we do have important things to talk about.

YUS LET'S DO THIS THING!!

Sacra~

I shake Andromeda's hand, smiling. All is finally well. For approximately two point five seconds. After those few seconds everything gets a little more interesting. Jaihra's Byte lights up. A static-filled audio message plays from the Byte, and everything goes into a tizzy. Apparently Galexia's father is in trouble...?

"Everybody sit down and prepare for lift off. Sacra! Do you think you can hold the plane?" Dathan looks back at me. I furrow my brow.

"What is that supposed to WHOA!!!" The ship lifts out of the water and launches itself into the sky. For a second my magic strains and I feel as though I am about to be ripped apart, but the feeling subsides and I can feel myself getting stronger. What is going on?

"Jai, do you have any way of decoding that message?" Jaihra begins poking around at her Btye.

"Not that I know of. The message seems to be broken up into parts, and I have no way of turning on any kind of subtitle to see what Mr. Starz was saying." I raise a hand, which catches Jai's eye. "Sacra?"

"Can you track it?" Jaihra's face screws up in confusion.

"What?"

"Can you track the message?"

"I'm not sure what you mean..."

"Can you find where Mr. Starz is by hacking through the coding of the message to see where it was sent from??" Without a word, Jaihra begins tapping madly at her gadget.

Ooh, fun!

~ Galexia ~

I sit in a corner of the spaceship, hugging my knees close to my chest. Daddy's words ring in my ears.

I need help... I'm running out of time... Please, quick...

I bury my head in my knees as tears rise in my eyes. Daddy's in trouble. He could be hurt by now, he could be... the thought is too terrible.

I feel an arm wrap around me and peek up to see Nixie's familiar face. I scooch over close to him and melt into his embrace.

"You okay, Galexia?" He asks.

I nod, sniffling, "I miss Daddy. And Mommy."

He's quiet for a while, and I can hear his breathes, feel the little puffs of air from his exhales. Then he says, "Me too."

"I want my family back."

"We all do."

I look up at him, and an unusually serious expression is on his face. A small smile tugs at the edges of his lips as he holds me tighter, "But you've still got me and Andromeda. The Starz siblings, ready to take on the universe."

"With love, huh?"

"And machine guns," he grins, looking like his normal mischeivous self again.

Just then, Jaihra jumps up, "I got it! I got it!"

Nixie and I jump up and, with everyone else, run over to her. Jaihra holds up her byte and points to the screen, waving it around. I see a image of the universe, with a glowing spiral above on planet.

"Thank you so much, Jaihra," Andromeda says, relief clear in her voice.

"Is that where Daddy is?" I ask, pointing to the spiral.

"Yup," Jaihra smiles down at me, "And we're going to find him."

We look at Andromeda, who bites her lower lip as she looks at Jaihra's byte, thinking hard. Finally, she says, "Alright, let's have Dathan and Dom pilot the ship together. Jaihra, you and I can do some research on this planet. The rest of you: prepare and rest. I sense another grand adventure looming in our futures."

~~~
I'm not sure how Myrtle is going to fit in this, since they're already flying off into the galaxy, so I think I'll just leave her behind on earth and continue onward with Galexia and the crew (AKA stoping posting with her).
And also, I'm assuming Mr. Starz is on the Secret Planet that Rose bud was talking about?
Sure! I guess he is. I think you should keep Myrtle. Maybe she'll come into play later?? Also y'all have probably noticed I'm not posting a TON of my usual book chapter long posts lately.
Urgghhh high school. I'm going to really try to keep up with this RPG but posts usually take me a long time to sit and figure out, so when it gets late because SOMEONE has been watching hallmark shows with her mom after school because she's too brain dead from homework to do anything else (*coughcoughmeeee*) then I won't have as much time to post. But Dom, Nixie, and...(I just realized we don't have a nickname for Andromeda. We should find one) are there! Inside your minds... *phantom of the opera music plays*
Anywhoo y'all are the best and this is seriously the most fun role-play I've been in for a long time!
Ummmmm Andy. Meda. Medi? Rome ha ha! I'm just taking bits of her name out... *Face palms* Ugh. Sacra's nickname can beeeee... Sil? As in Silver? I don't know...
Hmmm, I guess I'll keep Myrtle as a background character for now... and see if she'll come into play later.
As for nicknames for Andromeda, I kinda like Meda... maybe Andi? If she were a little kid, the nickname Dreamy would be really cute. Maybe she could have been called that when she was little?
@Rosebud: Did you you have a birthday recently? I just realized you turned 16!
Also, I was thinking of names for Mr. Starz. Caspian Starz?  Nova (kind of like Noah) Starz? Spectrum Starz? What do you guys think?
submitted by Fidelity
(August 31, 2018 - 9:09 pm)
I like Caspian. Or maybe Orion (like the constellation, which keeps with the universe theme of names in the Starz family).
I VOTE FOR CASPIAN!!! AND FOR NARNIAAAAA!!!
Does Mr. Starz have magic? I always assumed that he didn't, because he didn't know that Chastice had magic...
(September 1, 2018 - 6:24 pm)
YES I did have a Birthday and now I'm like really old!!!
Okay, I LOVE Orion. But maybe it should be something else, something simpler to kind of juxtapose the rest of the family's magic? Because Mr. Starz is just kind of a normal being from Monere and then his life is turned upside down with all the crazy star people. Just a thought.
I don't know if he has magic?? I mean, I guess not. Okay, this is SO dorky, but have y'all seen Voltron? So you know Keith's parents? Krolia who's all crazy Blade of Marmora, Galra, and super spy awesome falls out of the sky and falls in love with an ordinary farmer. And then she disappears. Well, that's kind of what I think of about the Starz. Except I saw that episode of Voltron way after I came up with this RP. But what do you guys think?
Also I'm hoping to finish writing my ULTIMATE ANDROMINIQUE POST soon!! Ahh it will be awesome.
submitted by Rose bud, age 16
(September 1, 2018 - 8:20 pm)
I'll have to save the ultimate Androminique post for later.
But it will come.
And they'll have a sweet moment. Maybe something like,
"You know what, I don't hate you."
"What?? I feel the same thing about you. No way. We should be BFFs."
Pheonix~
The clouds of Earth fade away behind us. Even though it was just a temporary setback, our visit to Earth still felt meaningful. Not only because we found Sacra, but also because I'd found a little nook of the world that was just...normal. Well, normal in a weird way. People could just exist without knowledge of the bigger forces of the galaxy. Without government officials patroling and regulating until life just becomes monotony. Without magic. People can just get in the water and swim. And chill.
But now we have another adventure to fulfill, and my father to find. Dad. Life has been so different these past few weeks. Not to mention the chaos of figuring out I had magic, and the other people in this airship exist. I miss him coming home late at the end of the day to find Andromeda stirring macaroni and cheese while chanting, "double, double toil and trouble," and calling, "where's Pheonix? I've got some bad news to tell him." He would try to convince me that he had accidentally lost all my game cards, or that I'd been expelled from school, or I was cursed to turn into a frog, or something else. Then we'd go at it, him trying to keep a straight face and me giving him all the reasons why I am definitely not going to turn into a frog. It was a game we'd played since I was probably Galexia's age or younger.
And now we can find him, and pull our family back together. Maybe we could just be normal, like Earth. Yeah right, like that's possible. Whatever magical programmer of magic gets a big award for thinking up the most creative things to throw at me. Yellow things. Ahhh, why does it have to be yellow?
"Can you get us there any faster?" I ask Saphira, "you know, portal us or something?"
"I can't if I don't know exactly where 'there' is, Saphira replies.
"I'm working on it!" Jaihra yells from the front, typing furiously into her byte.
"YAAAS Jai Trey does it again!" She exclaims, throwing her byte in the air.
"What, do you have the coordinates?" I spring up out of my seat.
"Well, kind of. I've pin-pointed the location. Kind of. It's somewhere in space."
"Thank you, very helpful," Saphira replies sarcastically.
"Pheonix?" From her seat next to mine, Galexia looks up at me, and I realize that her eyes are brimming with tears that she's doing her best to stop.
"Hey. It's going to be okay," I assure her, trying to pat her on the shoulder without it being very awkwardly Pheonix-ish.
"I...don't know. Dad's in trouble, and we don't really know where he is or what we'll see there. Phoenix...what if he's not coming back? What if we can't find him?" I notice her eyes are starting to glow and her hands shake with purple energy.
"Don't say that!" I reprimand, a little too sharply. Then I try to soften. Galexia is going through something no one her age deserves to go through. And she's strong, stronger then she even knows. I can't even imagine what sort of power she is trying to restrain every second of every day in a never ending battle.
"It will be okay," I repeat, "everything will be okay."
But at this point I'm not really sure of anything anymore.
