Curse of Renovamen

Curse of Renovamen

Curse of Renovamen V2
Yep, I'm bringing it because it died long ago because I didn't expain it was a rest floor and became stuck because I didn't know how to incorperate it and school wasn't helping. so I'm reiving this harder than a Meat Effigy from Don't Starve (Had I had my way I would have done that but I can't because RULES!)
An old man steps onto a crate in the town square and begins his preach.
Hear my warning and don't go to the Northern Lands.
For there lies the Tower of Renovamen
Tower of Renovamen is a very interesting one.
There are legends of great treasures and glory to those who make it to the top
Don't listen to such bribes!
For there you're soul will be anchored! Those who enter never leave!
To go through extreme pain and suffering, only to find out that not even death can save you from the misery.
To die, again and again. To feel every second of it. Only to wake up in the first room. Beasts with fangs and claws. Traps that melt off your flesh. The endless limbo of suffering.
No glory or treasure is worth such agony!
The Curse of Renovamen is nothing to mess with.
Only those who make it to the top can be free of the curse. And make off with the treasures that lie within!
Or so legend says....
You listen to the Old Man but you brunsh these off as rambling. A tower that prevents death. Please. You're too old for such fairy tales. But you have notice that those who claim they'll go never come back. And promise of treasure? You decide to not heed the warnings.
Now rules
RULE NUMBER ONE: DEATH IS NOT FINAL. You'll wake up in the first room, unless you have found an artifact that revives you.
1b because I'm not reordering the rules: Every four floors there will be a sub floor. this is where you buy stuff, rest, and chill with the passive inhabants of the Tower.
2, no Opness, it's unlikely that you'll be able to make it to the top unscathed.
3, be realistic, no one can one punch a beast to oblivion.
4, shipping is fine but don't overdo it.
5, jerkness is allowed but if you die, you "friends" will most likely raid your corpse than carry you with hopes of revival.
6, You don't have to be human, I'll allow all walks of life. You could even be a beast with hopes of seeing the outside world for the first time or plan the demise of those pesky intruders.
7,  Skills,  you can make them up but they can't be overpowered. There more powerful the move,  the more energy it'll sap from you. You can gain skills by reading Skill Books but if you already have max skills. You need to disown one to gain another.
8, perks,  these are you natural born abilities. Unlike skills,  once you decide them,  you are stuck with them. You can have up to 3 perks but one of them must be bad.
9. Enemies might be closer than you think
10. Have fun.
11. Please so this won't sink. If you see that this has no comments. just bookmark it. I don't want this to sink to the bottom and never find it again. To top a thread you wait till the first comment is posted then comment so you don't waste comments.
Classes
Swordman: This class is good at offense. But needs to be light for their speed so they lack defense. Starts with rusty sword and heath potion. Can have up to 5 skills at a time.
Mage: a great support class, has offensive and defensive spells but lack physical strength and endurance. Starts with Spell Book (make up what kind of mage you are),  wooden staff and a heath potion. Can have up to 10 skills at a time.
Tank: has good defense. Doesn't hit as hard as swordsman nor has as many skills as mage but is able to haddle more pain. Comes with leather tunic, rusty hand axe, and a heath potion.  Can have up to 3 skills.
Archer: good at range attacks, but frail. Comes with worn bow,  20 arrows. (Arrow can be retrieved but the thing it is in needs to be dead if you want them back!)  A dagger, and a heath potion.
Priest: like mage but focuses on more defensive skills. Comes with Holy Book (like Spell Book) wooden staff,  and heath potion.
Magic Gunman: expert at guns. But defense is weak. Comes with rusty magic gun,  magic bullet,  and  heath potion.  can have up to 5 skills.
If you want to come up with your own class,  just ask!

Damian~

Ah.

The chessboard spanned the length and width of the room. On the far left side of the board, nearing the end, there was a slim silver door, with a curved handle, shimmering and glowing slightly, a tad like moonlight but a lot like a deep-sea angler's glowing bulb, shimmering in the dark underwater world of teeth, mystery, and seaweed. A deep, thoughtful silence emanated from it.

If, of course, you were in a pessimistic mood, it would look just like some deep-sea horror's eyes glowing with cold anger or whatever.

Damian wasn't, but saw all possibilities, so saw both at the same time. He opted for moonlight.

To the board's right, a simple iron door, solid, looking more like a slab of metal hapazardly placed inside a luckily-shaped doorway than an actual door. It had a... hand-shaped impression on it, right where someone might push the door to open it. Soft orange light filtered out from under it. This one had what looked like a keyhole - Damian had to squint to ascertain this - and the roar of flames filtered through it, like listening to soemthing very loud from far away. And at the very end of the board, a wood door, which emanated nothing and looked just like all the other doors that led from one test to nother in the Tower. It gave away nothing, giving a slight air that there was nothing to be given away in the first place.

Damian immediately knew that the Tower wanted them to think that they had to play a game across the board. The fact that the board was completely empty didn't exactly do anything to dim this feeling, so he figured they would come onto the board once they stepped onto it, or something. Or maybe its misleading us.... He noticed that, if someone was in a certain thoughtful frame of mind, they might just seee that, the way the board was laid out, the side which the black was on was the same side they had entered to.

It looked they would be playing the black. That could either be saying 'I'm not evil', 'you're EVIL AND YOU KNOW IT', or it could just.... okay, this could mean literally anything. No point in wandering throught the limitless possibilities.

There was about a foot of space around the board in the room, completely innocent and normal-looking floor, slightly lower than the board itself. "Could we jussst walk arround thisss?" Stillo hissed, inturrupting Damian's scan of the room. "I'm not sure..... This hasn't happened before." Hyra said quietly, brows furrowed.

~~~~~~~~~
OKAY! Quick description of how I imagine the room. I hope that's what Stillo and Hyra would actually say....
You did well!
Stillo~
"What are we supposed to do here?" The warewolf kneels to touch the tile, nothing happens.
"Not sssure... But only one way to find out."  I investigate the siver door first. Lpcked. The wooden one too.
"Well that leavesss one door left."
Damian ponders a bit.
"Why would there be three doors if only-"
"WORK YOU FOOL! YOU RUSTED PILE OF GEARS!"
We all stay silent.
"COME ON!" I feel a surge of magic from the room. Like a type of dark magic. Then as soon as it appeared. It felt as though it was sucked. The room rumbles as the turning of gears is heard.
"YOUR SUBJECTS ARE IN DANGER!  THEY ALMOST GOT THROUGH THE DOOR TO YOUR KINGDOM!"
All of a sudden, the iron door bursts open as a wisp of fire flies away. It swings in and out before a hand of metal stops it
A man of bronze 10 ft tall steps through. His eyes of white light look at us, as if examining how much of a threat are we. His gears turn and grind. His head looks kinda like the top Sceptre in hand
"You dare try to trespass my territory?" The man asks us. "Those who disturb my kingdom will be kill. For I, The Clockwork King, will not allow such crime to be commited."
"S-s-sssir, with all due-" I was smaked by his sceptre and was sent across the room.
"This was a bad idea." Hyra facepalmed.
"Prepare for righteous termination." He claps his hands twice. Which is more of metal banging each other and the silver door opens. More clockwork men come out, weilding swords and axes. Four of them. With spheres for heads.
"Let the judgement commence."  he stands at the back of the board. While his pawns advance apond us.
Wait, are the pawns advancing by the chessboard? Like, they're acting like pawns and roooks and whatnot? Are there bishops?
Ooooooooor..... were they just.... advancing...? Jest wondering.
They are just advancing...
As for the pieces. There will be one bishop. I think it would be difficult for 5 people to take on 16 robots
Hyra~
The black chess pieces advance into position on the chessboard ground. The ground quakes and cracks in circles around our feet. We are slid onto the board. I'm in the queen's position, Stillo into a knight's, and Damian into a bishop's. White chess pieces spring out of another door previously unseen and come to our side. The White King laughs, but the Black King snarls. His gears groan as he points to a pawn and moves it two spaces forward.
"Pawn right three! Advance two spaces!" I call out. A pawn, specifically the third one from the right, slides forward. Stillo looks at me.
"I thought you ssssaid you've never encountered anything like thisss before!"
"No, I said this haden't happened before. I've encountered this type of room, but previously it's been a lot worse." Damian smiles weakly.
"That's encouraging!" He adds. Stillo and I both cock an eyebrow at him. "Whaaat?"
"As I was about to say, in the past it's also been different. The Black King has always been really rusty and prone to glitches, usually making him play a really bad move. Somebody must have cleaned him up..."
???
The clockwork pieces are based off of chess. We aren't playing a life size version.
Also if anything. Our pieces are black. The Clockwork King (The boss we are fighting) is white....
The thing is, the clockwork king was never used in a while because a party of at least three haven't arrived for about a century....
But maybe we can work this in....
Just need to figure out how....
Well I thought I'd make this a little bit more interesting instead of yet another boring attack.
And please stop correcting everything I do. It makes me doubtful of whether I actually should post on this or just let it die.
No, no, no! That's not what I mean, I just thought there was just some confusion. I understand now that was intentional.
It's an interesting idea indeed. It just kinda threw me off. As I said. I'll try to continue it. It just wasn't something I thought of.
Oh, okay. :) So it was a misunderstanding about a possible misunderstanding. XP Apology accepted. I'll try to be more understanding in the future.
