Superpower RP

Superpower RP

The age of superheroes ended 20 years ago. Since that time, all new powers have been minimal, allowing the police to easily deal with villains even in the absence of heroes. But then, one day, 48 teenagers across the world receive a letter, which reads:

Greetings and Salutations!
My name is Daniel Storm. You may know me as CEO of Void Corp., the premier superpower research firm. If you didn’t know me, now you do! Introductions are not the reason for this letter, though. I am pleased to offer you a spot in my new private high school. Located in the eastern United State “dead zone” (an area not covered by any satellite), it boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including its own movie theater, water park, and other amenities in addition to top-notch dorms, meals, and classrooms. I don’t neglect the actual teaching, either. I have pulled some of the greatest teachers I could find to staff this high school. Now you may be thinking “so this sounds like a really good school, but I can’t afford anything like that.” Well, it may be expensive, but I’m paying. Yes, you read that right. Void Corp. will pay all expenses, including a private jet to the school, room and board, and meals. Now I bet you’re thinking “Wow! How do I join?” That’s simple. One week after receiving this letter, a Void Corp. private jet will land at the nearest airport to your home. To enroll, just get on that plane! No parents or siblings allowed, though (even I don’t have that much money). I hope to see you all there!
Sincerely,

Daniel Storm

The people receiving this mysterious letter are from all backgrounds, nationalities, and ages. However, all of them have one thing in common: they all have superpowers, powers of a level not seen for 20 years. And their powers will be needed.

Hello! This is my first time creating an RP, so hopefully that introduction made sense. All our characters join Daniel’s school and learn about their powers in the process. Other than that, this can go in any direction. Again, I’m new at this, so please feel free to correct anything I mess up.

My character:
Name: Damion
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Damion is about 6’ 1’’, with red eyes and short black hair. His skin is very pale, and glows slightly in the dark. He generally wears casual clothing, but often wears a black cloak to hide his unnatural skin. He also usually carries a small, hand-carved wooden flute with him.
Personality: Damion is a loner, preferring to be by himself. He is indifferent to many things, and tends to be curt and to the point when he does interact with people. However, he is always observing other people and the environment, and knows much more than he lets on. He loves to compose music and play it on his flute, but only does it in private.
Background: Damion does not remember his parents, except that he ran away from them some time ago and that he carved his flue with them. He has lived on his own, drifting across the country and taking odd-jobs for money. When Daniel’s letter (somehow) reached him, he joined the school more for the free dorm and meals provided than for the education. However, he also saw it as an opportunity to learn and increase his chances of finding stable work. He knows he has a superpower, but doesn’t know his true potential.
Power: Damion can control and create light. Basic uses of this power include making directed beams or flashes of light. However, Damion is also able to “harden” light he is in contact with (which he can turn back into normal light). Hardened light acts like a solid material, essentially allowing him to create things like walls and beams out of thin air. In addition, Damion can turn his own body and some other things  (such as clothing he’s wearing) into light. While transformed into light, Damion still retains complete control of his body and powers, allowing him to move extremely quickly. In case people think Damion is OP, his power has three main weaknesses: darkness limits the amount of light he can create, any light he creates or controls has to move in a straight line, and normal light must move at light-speed, while hardened light acts like a normal material (e.g. Damion can not create flashes of hardened light, he must continually move while turned into light).
Anything extra: N/A

~Connor

Damion And Alex seem relived that Adria is okay and I am too I just want my test. They were able to pass their tests easily. I silently freak out.

"You in the black sweatshirt with the bangs! Over here!"

"My palms get sweaty as I walk over to her. I tug on my bangs.

"State your name and power!" She instructs

"Uh I'm Connor and I control fire." I say quietly.

"Another elemential, nice." As soon as she finishes speaking I get wrapped in a bubble of water.

I struggle and try to create a flame but the water wont let anything light up. I feel fire surging through my veins and I let it out through my hands and the water puffs into smoke. I turn around to see that I am in a Earth cage. I create small fire balls and start rapid firing them into the walls. I burn a hole and step out into high rapid winds. What is Terra doing? All of the Elements? I send fire surging into the flames but the Wind just carries it away. I keep trying but it fails. I decide to try something different. I jump into the wind and let it carry me farther out toward the edge. Then I blast flames into the wind using all the strength I can muster. It all disapears and I collapse from exhaustion.

Terra pushes some more buttons which turn off the darkness and light sections and rushes over to me with a couple students behind her and I can see Alex, Adire and Damion. Terra crouches down and turns me over. She brushes the hair our of my face and gasps. The students behind her do as well.

"your face!" She gasps "It- it's black."

I imeatietly sit up and fell my face. I can't feel anything different. "Oh no." I breath "It can't be."

"Can't be what?" Terra asks.

"I shouldn't say." I mumble.

"You must tell me. We need to know how to proceed in your training to be a hero."

I cringe at the word hero. She shouldn't know what I had suspected. Not the chaotic fire. Flames apear at my hands.

Terra takes a step back. "Connor after this see me in my office." She walks away and Damion helps me up.

"I never want to do that again" I say.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So Connor has chaotic fire which is why that thing just happened. Would Terra want to know whay this happened or not? I would expect she would but I'm not sure. If not just ignore that part.
@Moonlight
Terra would probably want to know about that. Its her job to fully understand everyone's powers.
Damion~
After everyone else finished their challenges, Terra dismissed the students. "These tests were meant to gauge what areas you need to improve in. Tomorrow, I'll bring in someone who can help everyone work on their individual powers. Remember that your normal classes start tomorrow as well!" As I left, I overheard Terra talking to Connor and Adria: "Come to my office tomorrow after this class. We need to talk about your powers." I'm not surprised that those two got singled out. Adria's power seems really strong, almost too much so. And Connor had that wierd chaotic thing. But its not my problem; they can deal with it. Using my power, I zipped back to the dorms well before anyone else could get there. Smiling at the usefulness of moving at light-speed, I started gettign ready for classes tomorrow.
-------------------------------------------
A black figure watched the students from the shadows of the gym. "Did you find them, Geigue?" He asked the empty hall. "I contacted two of them, and they're on their way," Geigue replied, appearing. "The other three are dead. Two natural causes, one car accident. All over five years ago. Why do you have your Room deployed?" "And how would you know that, Geigue?" "You wouldn't be able to penetrate my Psychic disguise if you weren't." "Can't a man be prepared? ... And the villians?" "I can't find them. Whoever is in charge, they're good." "Thank you, Geigue." "You didn't tell them who you are." "I can't do that. If they know, they will look to me, ask me to lead them. I can't ... I won't have that on my conscience again." "It wasn't your fault, you know that. There was nothing we could do." Void Walker didn't reply, and just disappeared. Geigue remained, sighing. "You just can't let go of the past, can you? But you will have to, if the world is going to survive what's coming."
I'll try to post soon, I'm just a bi tstuck on what Jacob's test should be, maybe a metal room with water but plastic handholds in the water? He grabs them and puts them in the homes in the celling then blasts electricity?
Or maybe he has to charge a battery while fighting enemies?
What do you think?
Also, Top!
(April 18, 2019 - 12:50 pm)
Hmm. I'm thinking something where he would need to use electricity in moderation, since it seems Jacob has trouble with that.
This might be better for partical power traing than an entry test, but a hurricane disaster situation? Jacob would need to charge a generator, but its raining and there's water everywhere. Or your second idea, where he would need to fight something in an all-metal room.
That's what I think, anyway. Its up to you to decide if my ideas are any good.
I can't post an actual post now 'cause I'm in history but I like the hurricane idea. I'm thinking that he goes to start the generator inside but the house is metal on the inside and there's a guard waiting for him to fight, everything is wet and there are people in the house upstairs so he has to huight and be extremely careful.
Adira~
Corridors. Bleak and bleached. Not something I particularly enjoy, especially under flourescent light. I can tell this is going to be a long trip. I hope Alex doesn't worry themselves sick over me getting back late. I shake my head fiercely and clench my fists. I can't get attached to anyone. Not after what I've seen myself do. That cannot happen again. Damion flashes across my mind, and I am ashamed and a little afraid to feel my mouth twitch in a gentle, genuine smile. I rub my face and keep walking, trying to blink away these feelings.
Sorry it took so long. Had a busy weekend.
Terra~
Connor and Adria entered my office, (hopefully) admiring my collection of archaeologist tools and findings. I wait until they get settled in my office before I start speaking.
"You both know why you're here. Your powers are ... unique. Adria, yours is nearly omnipotent, but with terrible cost. And Connor, yours has an almost villainous capacity for chaos. I know this from Void Corp.'s files and from watching you earlier. I called you here to discuss these shortcomings."
I raised my hand to cut off Adria, who started to speak, and continued: "And they are shortcomings. Weaknesses. But I don't want to blame you. I don't want you to hide them and supress your powers. I want you to face your weaknesses head-on, and overcome them. All heroes have weaknesses, even me and Void Walker, and we do need to hide them from the world so villains can't take advantage of them. But if we shyed away from our shortcomings, we wouldn't have made it this far. To be heroes, you need to recognize all of your power, both its strengths and its weaknesses. You need to improve on both parts. But you can't learn to mitigate your weaknesses if you hide them from everyone else. That's why I need to know them. So I can help you overcome them. That's all I wanted to say. You can go now."
Damion~
 I tried to sleep, but I couldn't. Lying awake, I replayed what happened today in my head over and over again. The announcement by Mr. Storm, my power training, the tests, and ... Adria. For some reason, I kept thinking back to her test, and how I felt when I thought she was dead. I had never felt like that before. It reminded me of ... something. I just didn't know what.
