Sanvri. It may

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Sanvri. It may

Sanvri. It may seem a strange world to you, with many known things being flipped upside down as it would seem. Nevertheless, you live here. Mayhaps you are a human, an elf, a dwarf, a gnome, perhaps a halfling, or one of the dragon-kin. No matter who you are, or where you have come from—you will shape the world.

So. Who are you? Are you an elf? The elves are a horse people, and can speak to their horses. The horses live as long as they do—about 300 years. High elves live in cities, raising powerful lines to be the horses of heroes; viri horses. Wood elves live in the wilds as nomads, raising the fleetest, most sturdy horses to walk this earth. However, some high elves speak of splitting: they want to live in mountain halls, as if they were dwarves. They want to breed what they call ‘draft’ horses and smaller, stronger horses. All grown (45 years or older) elves have their own horse, a true friend and partner to them. Chosen from their parents herd, this is how they will start their own line of horses. They tend to live in western wooded Dekita, Tamren, and Hanye.

For each of these, they move to a new island, and take part in a new ceremony. The Ka Moku Moku are always on the move, with most of their livelihood in their canoes. You could be a dwarf. You know, strong in magical runic abilities, with axes and magic practically spilling out of you ears. Not to mention braids. Living in the mountain halls, each in their own clan. They keep to themselves, and generally look down on all other races because they feel that they are the only ones who should be able to have and use magic. It doesn’t earn them a lot of friends. They usually live to be around 150 years, and are considered adults at 30. They mostly live in Wekran and Jerja.

Commonly used names among the dwarves are as follows:

Female: Ågot, Alfhild, Anja, Beate, Berit, Bryhild, Cathrine, Christel, Dagny, Dagrun, Dorothea, Ea, Ebba, Erika, Frida, Gerd, Greta, Gry, Hanne, Heidi, Hilda, Inga, Ingrid, Ingvild, Jannike, Judit, Kari, Katja, Kjersti, Laila, Linn, Lucia, Maja, Malin, Marita, Oda, Ragna, Rakel, Runa, Sigrid, Sonja, Sylvi, Thora, Tordis, Tyra, Ursula, Vera, and Ylva.

Abschuworung, healing magic, Besvarjelse, evocation magic, Verzauberung, enchantment magic, Framkallade, summoning magic, Vostellung, illusions magic, and Verwandlung, transmutation magic.

Maybe you’re a Gnome. Who knows, they’re a strange folk, mischievous and keeping to themselves in the woods. They tend to live in trees and prank travelers for the fun of it. In short, mostly a nuisance. They have a small working knowledge of magic, which they use to disrupt travel. The Gnomes usually live to be 100 years old. They have no concept of adulthood. They usually live on Llewyan

Frequently used Gnomish names are as follows. Note: They do not carry surnames. And, the double l is hard to pronounce, but you stick your tongue down at your bottom teeth and make an ‘l’ sound. It’s rather interesting. But enough of this.

You people of this "inkwell" could call this a 'solo write' crossed with a 'simulator'. I will tell you what happens to your people. At times, you will be required to answer a question in order for me to tell more. Otherwise, that person will be stuck in a time loop. And that’s not fair to them.

I will need the following information to be able to find this person you speak of to track them. Please give me as much information as possible. Some of your answers may end up needing to be adjusted in order to find the person, if you have been accidentally misinformed of a piece of culture, etc, etc.

What is their name?

Race?

Age?

Male or Female?

Where are they from?

Where do they live now?

Who were their parents? (Please, do not be afraid to tell me of half-race heritage.)

What did their parents do for a living?

What relatives of theirs are alive, and which are they in contact with?

What does this person do for a living? (If applicable.)

Do they enjoy their work?

What does this person look like?

Are they married?

Do they have children? (If applicable.)

What is the one thing they want most?

How would you describe their personality? (A trifling detail, if you do not answer, their personality may change and you may not recognize the person, even if I do.)

What skills do they have?

What do they think about magic?

Additional information would be appreciated, but I do not think necessary.

Once this message appears, I will give you the map of the world, so that you might have a better idea of where everything is located. Please, excuse me for giving almost too much detail. I will begin telling you of the history as soon as the first person fully appears. Additional people will be added until I say that’s enough. The tale, too, ends when it ends.

Kemen grinned as the wind blew his golden hair off of his forehead. His cousin, Roi snorted. “You look like you’re trying to imitate a pose one of the heroes would make.” He said, his eyes glimmering good-naturedly, but his mouth pulled into a frown. Kemen laughed. “So what?” He said, still grinning, trying to flatten the hair down. (Albeit unsuccessfully.) “I like the wind. It reminds me of the birds who live in it.” He said.

“You wouldn’t be a halfling if you didn’t. Although, it wouldn’t be—never mind. I’m sorry.” Roi said, his eyes flashing. Kemen’s lips tightened. “I wish you wouldn’t.” Kemen said, referring to the almost statement about his father. Kemen hadn’t spoken the thought, but his mind was set on leaving at this point. Aunt Alaia and Roi liked him, but they always seemed to be saddened that he was part dragon-kin. Mother didn’t mind, but then, she was his mother, and mothers are willing to forgive a great deal.
“You know,” Roi said. “My Uncle Valerio, (me da’s great-uncle, to tell you the truth) wants me to come out in a couple of days to bring over some of the vegetables; said he’s been craving Mum’s food, so I should bring a dish or two out with me. The problem is—he wants me to come out right as—as …” Roi’s voice faltered, and he flushed. Kemen raised his eyebrows. “Is it Haizea?” He asked. Roi loved a girl, Haizea Vega, who was first mate aboard the Falcon’s Tale. She was often away, and they missed the other, but Roi thought that he was needed to help his aunt and mother, and so did not seek a job on the Falcon’s Tale.
“Oh.” Kemen said, his brow furrowing, and his head beginning to whirl. "So, if you wouldn't mind doing me a favor," Roi finished.

It means a lot.

Do you wish me to stay as the cool, calm, and collected Messenger? Or the overly-friendly Cho Chang?

Laila Vostellung  screwed up her mouth as she ran her fingers over the complex illusion runes. It was a strange business, illusion magic. The weirdest people would come by and ask for illusions. There was no predicting what they would ask for. One day, it might be the illusion that their house was a grand and magnificent castle, the next that a great and bloody battle had taken place. There was truly no accounting for taste.

The oddest job that Laila had ever gotten was one where a woman wanted to make it look like her best set of teapots were violent and attacking her husband. It worked, but Laila was never sure what that woman ever wanted to do that for. She didn’t get much business, as she wasn’t part of any of the large family guilds, or Arbeidskilden as they were known, and even then illusion magic wasn’t in much demand.

Often she sat, reading through runes. Usually she stopped looking at illusion runes and looked at enchantment runes, trying to find ones which might help her find her sister Igna. She had just been married, and went away. Just under a year later, Igna went missing. Her husband, Kjetil had said little to nothing, and half of the things said were useless excuses. Somehow he was mixed up in it. And not in a good way. Laila knew she would never stop searching until she found Igna again.

A short, ruddy-complexioned male dwarf barged in, slamming the door violently. His braids flew up at this sudden entrance, allowing Laila to note that the metal beads on the ends of his beard indicated that he was from Framkallade, the summoners. Laila raised her eyebrows. “What d’you think you’re doing here?” She snapped. He folded his arms, and assumed a rather grumpy expression. “Well, if we don’t ‘ave a Miss ‘oity-toity ‘ere.” He said, his mouth twisting unpleasantly. “I want to know what it is you think you’re doing here, barging into my place like this!” Laila said, lifting her nose into the air. She was hoping to impress him into leaving, she didn’t want to have to deal with this brute now.

"What am I doin’?” He rumbled. “What I am I doin’? I was tryin’ ter be ‘elpful, but I can see whin I’m not wanted, yes, siree.” He turned, and grabbed the doorknob.

“what do you mean your trying to be helpful? I’m trying to run a business. Unless you need some sort of illusion explain why you just barged on in here!” Laila had had this happen before. They just were running away from somewhere but none had said that they could help.

is that long enough? Here ya go!

submitted by Moonlight
(February 23, 2019 - 6:10 am)

Aaaaaahhh sorry it took me so long, but here it is!

What is their name? Aeronwy Besvarjelse

Race? Half dwarf, half gnome.

Age? 26

Male or Female? Female

Where are they from? She was born in Llewyan

Where do they live now? Wekran

Who were their parents? (Please, do not be afraid to tell me of half-race heritage.) Her mother was a dwarf by the name of Ingrid Besvarjelse; her father was a gnome by the name of Talfryn.

What did their parents do for a living? Talfryn stole from travelers to sustain himself.  Ingrid mostly kept house and lived with her parents until she met Talfryn. She did a bit of magic on the side, but was a little wary of it and not very interested.

What relatives of theirs are alive, and which are they in contact with?  Her grandmother and all her aunts, uncles and cousins on her mother’s side are alive and she is contact with them. She is not in contact with any relatives on her father’s side, and she doesn’t know which of them are and aren’t living.

What does this person do for a living? (If applicable.) She lives with her mother and so helps take care of the house, but she is more serious about learning her clan’s magic than most dwarf women. People often come to her for specific magic jobs, such as coaxing a memory to the surface of their mind or hiding/erasing a memory. Some come for her to evoke certain emotions, such as happiness or peace, something she’s especially adept at. She’s often paid for odd jobs like these.

Do they enjoy their work? Yes. She enjoys helping people and practicing her magic.

What does this person look like? She’s short, of course, and has a sturdy yet rather slight build for a dwarf. She has lightly freckled skin and voluminous, unruly auburn hair that she usually leaves free with many intricate braids woven in randomly. Her eyes are a clear, glassy amber-tinged green, like sunlight falling on seawater. She has a bit of a snub nose and a slightly ruddy complexion.

Are they married? No.

Do they have children? (If applicable.) No.

What is the one thing they want most? To find her place in the world and discover who she really is. Also to learn more about her father and meet him. Dreams of finding true love someday, though it’s not a great desire, more of a daydream.

How would you describe their personality? (A trifling detail, if you do not answer, their personality may change and you may not recognize the person, even if I do.) Aeronwy is very inquisitive, and curious to a fault. She will pursue her curiosity to the point where it could even endanger her. She wants to know things, she wants to learn things, and absorbs knowledge like a sponge. She has an active imagination and an optimistic, idealistic outlook on life. The world seems bright and full of opportunities and adventure to her, and she longs for adventure and excitement and wants to see the world. Yet at the same time, she likes her home and has no strong desire to leave for good. She is rather naive and a little too trusting, but she makes up for it with her cleverness. She’s quite determined and stubborn at times. She has a mischievous streak from her gnomish side.

What skills do they have? She’s very good at magic, as she spends a lot of time studying it—more than her mother would like. She’s also fairly good at sewing and weaving, and has a good strong voice, though she doesn’t know it and only sings when she thinks she’s alone.

What do they think about magic? She finds it extremely interesting and loves learning about it and using it.

Note: I know you didn’t ask for a background, and I don’t have a fully developed background for Aeronwy anyway, but I have a vague idea of her heritage that I just wanted to put out there. My thought was that Ingrid met Talfryn in Lewyan—perhaps when she was traveling or something?—or maybe the other way around, and they fell in love, married, and had Aeronwy. Her father named her, which is why she has a gnomish name. Then, for some reason, Ingrid returned to Wekran and took Aeronwy with her (or again, perhaps the other way around). Aeronwy knows that her father is a gnome, but she doesn’t know much else about him and doesn’t remember him. She wants to meet him someday.  (Feel free to change this for story purposes, of course.)

Also, I’m not sure if there will be any shipping in this or not, but Aeronwy is open to shipping with guys.
