I'm writing a book called Chasing Shadow and I'm wondering if it is OK to have a book that's just three chapters long, or is that too short? Also, if anybuggy has writing tips and advice, I'll be glad to hear it. Thanks!

Welllll... you might just call your chapters part one, part two, and part three, or, if they're really long, break them down into smaller chapters. Hope that will be helpful.:):):):)

3 chapters... Well, it'd still be a book, just not a novel. :) Unless they're extremely long chapters.

As to writing advice, well, just avoid rigid plot planning. And don't be afraid to ask your characters what THEY want to do... I mean, have you ever been told by someone, "this is what you like to do"? it's not pleasant, so why force that on your characters?

First of all, that's a really cool book title. I stink at titles, but apparently you don't. Also, it doesn't have to necessarily be a "book"--it can be called a story or short story. As long as it includes all it needs in it, then it can be as short as you want. I agree about asking the characters what they want. I just spent almost a year writing my own book, and it is so changed from the beginning it's almost unrecognizable (sorry if I spelled that wrong). The reason is that there were a lot of things my characters said: "Nope, I don't want that" or "It would be really cool if..." Don't set anything in stone. Let the story take you where it needs to, and enjoy the ride!

I am also an author. First of all the second I heard the title to your book it makes me want to read it good job! Maybe you could try and add parts to your chapters give more detail. If not then it can still be a book. Great Job on the title. Please get it published I can't wait to read it! Hope this helps!

It sounds like an awesome book! If you start talking about other things in you'r chapter try to make a new chapter. I hope it helps!!!!!

You can have a book however you want! However, if the chapters aren't very long and you don't plan to illustrate it, it might be better received to consider it a short story.

For writing advice: Just have fun with it, remember that you have infinite creative license and you can always edit and rewrite later.
