Greetings, happy lett

Greetings, happy letter rescipient! I am pleased to inform you that your submission has been picked from hundreds.  You are formally invited by the NHA, Nature Hiking and Associates, on a three-day-long wilderness adventure! Led by the famous mountain climber and guide Malichai Lebovitz, you, along with 9 other teenagers, will scale the sawetooth mountain. Although you have been selected due to your love of nature and adventure, it may be that you have no knowledge of backpacking or the wilderness. Fear not! This adventure is designed to be exiting and fun for all levels of experience! We hope that you will except this invitation!
Signed,
Associates of Nature Hiking.

Notes:
It will take three days to get to the top of the Sawtooth, and after that you will be picked up by a gelicopter and flown to the NHA headquarters for a celebratory meal with the NHA.
We will provide you with a backpack containing essentials that you will need for survival. In addition to this, you will have some space to pack your own personal gear. Choose wisely what you will bring.
We will allow on this hike only such animals as can make it to the top without dying. If you wish to bring a pet, you must carry its food. If you bring a prey animal, (Pack goat, llama, sheep, etc.) you would be advised to bring a good stick in case a predator (Dog, cat, etc.) tries to attack it. Rodents are discouraged.
After you send in your letter to say that you will or will not be coming, we will send you the backpack, allong with a list of its contents and any other information that you may need.

```
Hey Everyone!
If you want to be a part of this adventure, please fill out this sheet! Since there will be only ten people going, please don't send more than one person. You can go, or if you want to send an AE, that's fine, only don't go yourself. You could also create a character. This isn't a ski lodge, although the letter may look like it. It will function like this: I will write a chunk of story, and than you will tell what you want to do and I will write the next chunk.
Please fill out this sheet:
Name:
Gender:
Age: (13-16)
Hight:
Appearence:
Personality:
Experience backpacking:
Other:
After I have ten people, I'll send out the list of things in your backpack, and you can fill out what else you want to bring, and if you're bringing any pets. After that, we can start!
Everest's response:
"I'm Everest, and I'm thirteen. My favorite color is yellow, and obviously, my favorite animals are hedghogs." (Hugs Yos) "I've jammed all the fingers on my right hand except for my thumb, so I have medical tape and a finger splint in my backpack, if anyone needs it."
Olive will respond...
“My name is Olive... Uhm... Oh!  I prefer to go by the nicknames of Ollie or Via, please...”  She shuffled awkwardly a little, wondering what to say next, “Oh yes!  I'm thirteen.  My favourite colour is probably patsel purple or pastel blue.  My favourite animal is probably obvious,” she giggled, “a Canary bird, of course...!  I do loves all birds, though!”  She mumbled to herself, getting a little embarrassed, “I've broken my left leg before, my right ankle, my left wrist, and my left arm.  I'm a little clumsy,” she grimaced, looking around awkwardly.
Eclipse, and Everest answer at once, then Olive speaks up timidly. Then there are a couple of awkwardly silent moments while no one else answers. Malichai smiles.
“Well, technically I already knew your names, since I read your acceptance letters, so that’s all right! Now come over to the Jeep and I’ll give you your backpacks.”
He leads the way to the Jeep. Just as you arrive, Molly appears from behind the other side. She smiles as well.
“Ready for your backpacks? I had them specially fitted before we started. Let’s see.” She opens the trunk and pulls out a backpack. It’s small, compact, and a lovely dark-blue color. She reads off of a tag on the shoulder. “Everest Jones?”
“That’s right! Correct, I mean.” Everest says, stepping forward and taking the pack. “Oof. Is it supposed to be this heavy?”
“Well, yes,” Molly says, reaching for the next pack. “The weight limit was carefully calculated to be no more than a quarter of your body weight. Don’t worry, it will feel lighter when you put it on and the wight is on your hips. Lizzy?” She hands Lizzy a black backpack thin red stripes. As Molly continues to hand out the packs, Malichai starts listing off what they have inside of them.
“Rain cover, in case it rains, of course, pocketknife, toilet paper, Rain poncho, water bottle, flashlight, three days worth of food, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, compass, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, one-person-tent, and mess kit. Some of you may also have additional items which are divided between the group: Two camp stoves, biodegradable soap, a first aid kit, three bearbags—”
“Um, what’s a bearbag?” Kate asks, grabbing her backpack that Molly hands her. (Pink and blue.)
“Well,” Malichai says, “A bearbag is a necessary and complex mechanism that is often—”
“Oh, let me explain.” Says Molly, handing Eclipse his backpack. (Brown and black.) “It’s a bag that you put your food in, then you sling it up into a tree so that a bear won’t wander into our camp in search of food.” She hands Monica her backpack, (Light green) Then reaching in for the last one, which she hands to Olive. (It’s yellow.) She closes the trunk, then grabs her own backpack which has been leaning against the side of the Jeep. (It’s purple.) Malichai pulls his backpack onto his back (Red).
“All right,” He says, “Let’s go.” He leads the way across the parking lot to the trailhead. You stop for a moment at the small wooden sign with “Sawtooth Rock” carved into it. Molly takes a picture with her digital camera, and then you start down the trail.
The trail is fairly narrow, just wide enough for two people to walk tide by side, and made of packed dirt. For the first few hundred meters it stays flat, with grass and flowers surrounding it, then it starts to slant down. Malichai leads the way, with Cora running ahead and then falling back, and they are followed by Monica and Everest (Carrying Yos), who have started to make friends. Eclipse and Kate follow them, singing a trail song about a moose who drinks juice, then Molly, Lizzy, who is studying the wildflowers growing near the trail, and Olive, who lags a little bit behind to keep space between her and the rest of the group, absentmindedly stroking Pilot, who is perched on her shoulder. Vixen and Cuddles stay a little distance from the trail, keeping up with the group and eying each-other suspiciously.
You’ve walked for about an hour when the forest starts to creep up towards the trail, which slants down into switchbacks. You’re on the last of these switchbacks when the moose song is cut short by a cry from Olive. The rest of you turn around just to see something fall through a tangle of undergrowth to a further point on the trail.
What do you do?
Yes! This thing is still going! Don't let it diiiiieeee!!!!!
Everest immediately runs to the edge to see what has fallen. If it's important, she'll burst through the underbrush toward whatever fell. If it's a minor thing, she'll carefully make her way through the foliage to retireve it. If it's unimportant, she won't care at all.
@Majestic Mary | I think that Hummingbird is still in here, but she might have left on this thread. (If that's what you're implying when you said that Hummingbird left.) I would also love to keep going, but I don't think a lot of the CBers are on, or just haven't seen this. None of the CBers on here have posted a response, so it leads me to think that everyone has forgotten about this thread.
