You pick up the note and open it. 'Dear Cber,' it says in beautiful, red calligraphy, 'You and several other very extraordinary people have been chosen to form Project K. Project K will be a highly trained spy team. If you wish to join, be at Four Corners Farm at 3:30 on Saturday, March 28. Pack a suitcase and anything else you may want. Sincerley, Miranda Hawkins. P.S. Fill out the form below and bring it with you.' You are thrilled that someone would pick you to be on a spy team, so you fill out the form.

~Gale (going with 1st POV since that seems like what everyone else is doing? Geez, I'm new xD)

I look around. Everyone seems to be leaving – to check on Orchid, or go to their rooms – but I don't know where to go.

They're all...cool. They can do stuff.

Unsure, I walk down the hall to the rooms. A few people cluster around Orchid's door. I wonder...no.

Society, community, other people...no. No way.

Instead, I go into my room. The window's open and a breeze, light and gentle, blows in. I open my bags and pull out my instruments. Three of them, as much as could I could fit: a flute, a ukelele, and a violin.

My fingers hesitate over each, and then I lift the ukelele out of its case and tune it, then begin to play. The feel of the strings and the umber-brown koa wood is comfortingly familiar.

Halfway through I realize I haven't shut the door, and that my playing is probably audible from the hallway. Slightly embarrassed, I get up and go to close it.

PS, I didn't write exactly how many instruments Gale plays in her char sheet, but I decided I wanted her to be really widespread in music. If no one minds.

Orchid~

"I know I'm worthless..." I say through sobs, curling up into a ball.

"What?'' Ash's voice travels under the door, ringing out clearly against the yellow cat wallpaper.

"You don't know me, and you don't need to force yourself to, Ash." I say sitting up and wiping my tears.

The door flew open, and all of the kids were standing there, worried expressions. Except for Lan. He walked in the room, and helped me up.

"You're not worthless. You're probably pretty cool." He says, smiling widely and giving me a big hug. All the others walked over and hugged us.

"GROUP HUG!" Emekittykon K shouts.

We all laugh, and for the first time, in 5 years, I smiled.

After the big hug, they all look at me.

My face is still kept down, but I slowly turn it up.

"WOAAAAAH." Saylor says, eyes sparkling.

"Your eyes..." Ash gapes, "They're beautiful."

Yeah. It's really nice too how everyone is supporting Orcid. Oh, and I need your replies on what you're going to be today or you will be a feild agent automatically.

OK, so I'm going to post today, so I really need your decisions or I'll have to decied for you, which probably means I'll put Gale and Orcid as research, and Alex as feild.

Ok, so, I might have put some conflicting posts, but I looked back, and you had all given me an idea of what your character will do, so Gale and Orcid will do research and Alex will do feild, if that's ok.

The next morning, the kids were woken at 7:30 by a loud 'gong!' sound. "What is that?" Alex said, stumbling out of bed and rubbing her eyes.

"I don't know," Marilee replied. She led the way out of the butterfly room, which had real butterflies. They went down the marble stairs and went to the dining room. Emekitty and Orcid were already inside, talking about their favorite books. "I'm glad to see that Orcid is warming up," Marilee remarked as they found seats at the other end of the table.

Later, when everyone had had their fill of eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes, and orange juice, Miranda showed them a special walle courtyard. There was a lot of what looked like training equipment. There were also 9 bikes lined up near the right hand wall. "What are those," Saylor asked, gesturing toward the bikes.

"Those are X bikes. You will each get one. We can talk about them later. right now, let us turn our attention to the first part of the training course. Yesterday, we did some wall climbing. That had it's purpose. you will have to scale this wall," here, she paused, nodding her head in the direction of a 20 foot tall concrete wall with nothing as much as a loose brick to get a footing on.

"what!" interjected Mae, with an astonished look on her face. "How can we do that?"

"Do not fear, we will give you the proper equipment, but in the feild, you may very likely encounter a problem like this." Miranda and another women, much taller and with a square face, passed out harnessess. When everyone was suited up, she inroduced the VERY tall women as the famous mountain climber Alicia Hollister. "She's my hero," Mae wispered. "I can't believe I didn't recognize her!"

Mae, of course, was the first to finish the wall. Everyone else was a little more cautious  and took longer, but soon all of them were back on terra firma (latin for solid ground, I think), and all of them were looking at the X bikes. But Miranda had other plans. "let us move on to the ropes," she said, ignoring the dissapointed looks on all their faces.

They climbed a set of high stairs and went up to a ledge. It was very high. There were 9 ropes. "Alright," Mranda said. "You will each be assigned a rope. You will then  try to swing across. Do not be afraid of falling. There is a foam pit under you that is 10 feet deep." The kids all got on to their ropes. They pushed off. Not a single one fell. Orcid was the first to make it.

"Nice job, Orcid!" Ashley exclaimed as she reached the other side. They high-fived. Once again, when the task had been completed, eyes returned to X bikes. Everyone was pumped when Miranda announced that they would be moving on to the X bikes.

"These X bikes are very special. For instance," she pushed a button and the bike came to life, lifting off the ground. She hopped on, pressed another button, and rose higher. Then she flew around for a minute. "they fly. You can also use them as a regular bike, or even peddle while flying, which I wanted to do when I was young."

Now, everyone wore astonished looks an thier faces. Miranda started assigning bikes to people. Mae got a deep purple one. Gale's was black with a blue streak. Emekitty's was light pink with a purple streak and a cat face on the front of the bike, which made them look more like motorcycles. Orcid's was white, while Lan's was deep green and Ashley's was red and black. Marilee's was a yellow one, and Alex's was light orange. Saylor's was dark green with white in a few places. after everyone had tried out the X bikes and discovered some other features such as grappling hooks and auto pilot, they went in for lunch.

I hadn't known that they'd just except me like that. It was a great feeling. I had to try to socialize. Even if my mind and soul wanted to hide in the back corner, I pushed on.

The X Bikes we had gotten were pretty cool, but my favorite thing was going to be the reasearch.

I had always gotten good grades on presentations, book reports, stuff like that. So this would be perfect.

~Mae~

We had completed our training and gotten our X-Bikes, and everyone was going in for lunch, satisfied. But there was one more thing I had to do. Sheepishly, I approached Alicia Hollister, the very tall woman and my favorite climber of all time.

"Hi," I said quietly.

She spun around to look at me. "Oh, hey! You're that girl who scaled that wall like a boss!"

I smiled, my cheeks turning pink. "Yeah, I really like to climb," I said, a little louder now. "You're kind of my hero."

Alicia grinned. "I like to inspire young climbers. It's part of my life. Anyway, we gotta go in for lunch. Climbers need their energy." She smiled happily as we walked back inside. I couldn't believe it. I had been recruited for a spy team and met my hero.

I couldn't wait to see what was next.

~the end~

It's not much, but whatever. I hope it's okay that I kind of determined Alicia's personality.

Ok, i know that it hasn't been a week but I'm dieing to post, and last week I posted twice, so I'm gonna do it today.

The next day, the kids were awakened by the sound of the gong. They had brseakfast, and as usual, when they had finished, Miranda appeared. The kids followed Miranda to a big room with a lot of computers. "Today we will start to seperate your training. Will all the research operatives remain hre," she said. "Seargent O'Hera will be instructing you today." A kindly looking woman entered the room and introduced herself to the research operatives.

"I will be helping you learn code-breaking," she said. The feild operatives followed Miranda to the courtyard. Alicia was waiting for them.

"Today you will learn how to free-solo a brick wall," Alicia said, grinning.

"Yeah!" Mae exclaimed. The others looked confused.

"What's free-solo?" Ashley wispered to Mae.

"Free solo is climbing without any gear or harnesses. I've always wanted to do it, but there isn't really a free-solo class in my town." Ashley stared in disbeleif. Sure, she liked climbing, but she didn't know about this.

But when Alicia showed them how to hold on to the wall and find the right places to get their footing, she actually did better than Mae.

Meanwhile, Orcid, Gale, and Marilee were sitting at a small table with Seargent O'Hera. "To communicate with the feild members of the team, you need to be able to you advanced codes. This," she got up and picked up a laptop. "is a code macine. We call it the 'K coder'. It was desined specially for your project." Seargent O'Hera showed them that it looked on the outside like a laptop, but that inside it had 3 key boards. "You type in the messege on one of the keyboards. You should use one keyboard per day, and go on a 3 day rotation. When you have typed the messege, it codes it a lot like the enigma did in WW2. Then, it sends it to the feild's coder, and when they type in the day's password, they are allowed to see the messege. They type in the coded message, type in another password, and the messege is revealed."

"This is pretty compicated, but it's fun," Gale remarked. The girls spent the rest of the day coding and de-coding. After awhile, the feild operatives came in and got a chance to try it, too. At the end of the day, everyone got their own coders.

OK, more tommorrow. Should i do 2 post every week?
