NaNo, anyone?

NaNo, anyone?

NaNo, anyone?

Anyone else doing Camp NaNoWriMo this year? (Or using NaNo's resources in any way...) I started using it last year and I'm really enjoying it. I thought it was impossible for anything to be so inspiring. Of course my first novel was a mess, but oh well, because I have a new one.

Also, because this is my first time, I'm a tad bit confused. When I announce a project, am I writing this myself and sharing it with others, or is it a project that I write with others? Someone please explain.

When you announce a project, you usually write it yourself. You can write with a buddy, but I don't know how that works because I'm new too. I don't think you share it with others, because you're not writing on the site itself. You can share an excerpt on the cover. You write somewhere else (Google Docs, a notebook) and then update you word count on the site.

I'm probably not the most qualified to answer this, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

There's been some questions about Camp NaNo, so this is an explanation about it. :)

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo/NaNo for short) is in November. You try to write an entire novel. Camp NaNo takes place in April and July, and it's like regular NaNo but you set your own word/character/page count. You're also part of a writing group, where you can chat about your novels (and other things). There's no pressure to complete your goal, it's more of a tool to help you stay on track.

To join, you can go to the NaNoWriMo website and make an account. Then, you can declare a project for the month of April. This is where you set your word goal and specify the title and synopsis of your novel. Then, if you post your username on this thread we'll add you to the CBer cabin ASAP. :)

In the cabin, you can chat to other CBers about their novels. It's a really great way to get to know other people on the CB better! We're also going to do a lot of writing challenges and activities. You don't have to participate in the activities, but their really fun and help you develop your characters and plot.

If you're interested in writing but procrastinate like me, I would highly recommend doing this. Seriously, I wrote 15,000 words of my screenplay last NaNo and since then I've written like 700 words. It's not a big commitment either. You set your goal for 1000 words or 80,000; it's up to you!

Hope this helped some people; I hope to see you guys in the cabin!

I'm doing Camp NaNo this year! I don't normally do the April one because it's usually the busiest time of year for me, but since I'm gonna be stuck in my house for the whole month with nothing to do, it seems like a good use of my time. I've already written a full outline for my novel and I might start early because I'm just very excited :P

Hey Bluebell! I've tried adding you several times but your username hasn't come up. Is this your username on YWP or regular NaNo? Only the regular NaNo will work. Also, have you declared a novel for April yet?
