Chatterbox: Inkwell

Launching my ideaaaaa

Launching my ideaaaaa

So this is the RP thingy I was talking about here: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/436073

Basically, this will be an RP, but with only a few people! Maybe just the people who commented on that thread ^^^ becuz including me that's six, a good number for this.

We'll start out with one charrie each and make more if needed as we go along. But I thought first of all we could discuss, what genre/what kind of story will this be? I love fantasy best, and mystery would be fun. So those are ideas. We can have a vote i guess xD And when we're done with that, we can make the characters and after THAT we can decide how they are all related to each other and after THAT we can start writing. Whatever. We can just figure this out as it goes.

This will probably go pretty slowly, so please only join if you are committed and willing to take time with this!!! Thank you!!!! The purpose of this is to actually finish something for once, and have it be well written as well!

Yay

-cerinthe

also @Peregrine it's fine you capitalized my name xDD no big deal

Lexi [p. 2 of 3] ~
The next morning, I rise with the sun. It's just past six thirty when I finish putting up my hair and leave my room. I walk silently down the carpeted hall, past all the other dragon rider's rooms, and make my way to the staircase that spirals down to the Main Hall. Only a few people are awake, and I nod to them before crossing the room and pushing open the massive doors of Equidron. The bright morning light blinds me as I step outside. I shield my eyes with the back of my hand and make my way to the dragon enclosure, where Kayda is already awake. Good morning, she says. You're up early.
"I wanted to go for a short fly before the day started," I tell her. "We're going to have to start doing a lot more training if we want to be fully prepared for the Lunar Sun." Kayda lets out a big, dragon-y sigh, large curls of smoke erupting from her nose. Ok, but make it an easy one, she says.
"We'll fly through Corulis. Come on!" I throw her saddle over her back and climb on. She saunters over to the launch pad, sighs, and takes off, her massive beating wings gleaming in the sunshine.

Lexi [p. 3 of 3]
. We turn into the mountain range, soaring between the peaks and over the rolling hills. It's nice to take an easy fly after so many days of rigorous training. I breath in the crisp air of an autumn morning and listen to the steady beating of Kayda's wings. For a moment, I even forget about Azazel, and danger, and the lunar sun. But that moment of peace abruptly ends when a huge flame erupts from Kayda's mouth.
"Kayda!" I cry in horror. All the dragons are trained from a young age to only fire-breath when they're in imminent danger. I'm prepared to give her a firm talking to, when I notice that we're falling. Spiraling toward the ground at a constantly quickening rate, with no safe place to land.
"Kayda - wait, no, Kayda. Wait! Use your wings. Up, and down, flap your wings!" I repeat the words that we use to train the young dragons, hoping it will spark something in her. She attempts to fly, her right wing flapping, but her left one hanging limp. I can tell she's trying, but it doesn't work. We hit the ground hard and Kayda crumples. I quickly slide off her back and run around to look into her eyes. My.. Wing... She says weakly. I run over and see an arrow that has pierced her fragile left wing. Immediately, I dig through my bag and find the miniature bugle and blow a loud note. It's used only for emergencies, to alert others that you need help. I hope we're not too far away for anyone to hear. I kneel by Kayda and stroke her head as we wait, and a moment later, another dragon lands next to us. I recognize the rider immediately - Jasmine.
"I was in the air when I heard the horn. What happened?" She runs over to me. I realize that tears are streaming down my cheeks, and I can hardly speak. "There are more riders on the way. Don't worry. It'll be ok." She pats me on the back. I don't know what to do. For now, all we can do is hope.
---
Now THIS is where things get spicy! I'm just trying to thicken the plot before the Solar Maximum. So what do you think shot the arrow? Was it a spy? An enemy of the riders? Whoever writes the next part can decide.
also, your next part doesn't have to be about this, it can be something else. And @DoodleGirl, if you want to change this, that's alright.
Oh! And @Heroes, maybe this is what happened to Cricket? It doesn't have to be, just an idea,

thank you for reminding me Mary!

I hit the ground with a strangled oomph, Cricket half on top of me. Arrow. Remove it, or there is no hope for me. Cricket says. I lift myself up and hurry over to Cricket's left wing. theres a wicked looking arrow sticking out of the joint between her two edge bones. I gasp and set to work, prying the arrow out of Cricket's papery thin wing. She screams inside my head, and I hear her complaining loudly. Cricket, stop. It will be better, let me just... I yank the arrow out an examine it, ignoring Cricket's panting. The tip is made of a midnight black stone, and the sharp point is made from dark, burnished silver. The feathers are a deep navy blue, like no bird i have ever seen before. Suddenly, the sky is lit up with orange light- a dragon used Fire. I jump up and lift up Cricket's head. I'll be fine. Go check it out. she says. I nod, tucking the arrow into my pocket, and dash over the dunes, careful to avoid the many prickly cacti. Theres a girl I vaugley recognize bending over her limp dragon, who, to my horror, has another black-tipped, blue-feathered arrow stuck in their left wing.

EEE this is so exciting!

All I can see is blue, blue sky, and Stella’s scales glinting golden in the sun. The wind slaps my face and whips my curls behind me, waking up my still-half-asleep mind. All I can think about is my new acceptance into the Lunar-Sun plan.

 Suddenly I realize I’ve strewn away from the group I’m practicing with. Daring to look down for the first time in minutes, we prepare to dive, and my heartbeat quickens. Then I hear a long, loud sound- the emergency horn. Pushing all other thoughts away, I urge Stella towards the sound, but first she says, “We need to get a medicine bag. Someone’s probably hurt!”. The next moment I hear Mr. Marren yell the same thing, and I chide myself for not thinking of that. Other riders are also speeding toward the mountains, but I’m still in the lead. The wind feels more painful than before as I search through the vegetation-covered land. Then I see the sparkling scales of a large white dragon splayed in a clearing. Landing next to them, Stella gasps, “Kayda?” I turn towards the girl kneeling at the other side of the dragon- it's Lexi. She looks up at me, and it’s my turn to gasp when I see the tears streaming down her face. I don't know what else to do but pat her on the back and reassure her. Then I blow my bugle to signal that I'd found them. I look back at Lexi, who is attempting to pull out at- an arrow!? It's large, black, and tipped with navy blue feathers like no bird I've ever seen. Lexi pulls it out, leaving a wound in Kayda's wing, the blood contrasting with her white scales. I can tell they're both in pain. Inspecting the arrow in her hands, Lexi gathers herself enough to say, "I…don't know where this came from, but it can't be good. Keep your eyes and ears open." Realizing when she's telling me, fear shoots through me. I feel unprepared, where are the other riders? I search the sky, but the only thing I see is- BOOM. I hear screaming and roaring, the pain in my head is excruciating, and then my world goes black.

Lexi~
I examine the arrow in Kayda's wing - black, with blue feathers. I take deep breaths as I try and remove it, and gather myself enough to say a few words to Jasmine. As soon as I do, another rider comes over the crest of the hill, looking horrified. Jaz looks toward the sky for other helpers. So much is going on I can hardly think. And, to add yet another burden, the sky erupts into a huge explosion. Jasmine passes out, and I frantically shake her shoulder. Mr. Marren, our Riding instructors, and a few nurses from the dragon infirmary come spiraling to the ground, jumping up as soon as they land.
"Mr. Marren, what's going on?" I ask, running over to him.
"Spies," he replies immediately. "Someone who definitely doesn't like the dragon riders." I frown, and feel like I'm going to start crying again. Inside, I scold myself for bringing all the other riders into danger, but then again, what choice did I have? I wasn't experienced in patching dragon wings.
I look over to Kayda. One of the nurses is working on her wing. I look toward Blue, the other rider who came running over, who is frantically explaining something to one of our instructors. The I look at Jasmine, who is slowly coming to and rubbing her head. I take multiple deep breaths and try to decide what to do. But before I can even think, a shadow with a giant harpoon gun and a smug grin comes walking up the hill. I recognize him immediately.
Daniel.
~~~
OoOooO0oOoo0oOh, spicy! For those of you who don't know, Daniel is an NPC that I introduced in my first post. This wasn't what I originally had planned for him, but I like the plot twist of him as a spy. How will the Riders defeat him? Find out in the next installment of...
DRAGON
RIDERS
RP!!!!
Idk why I did that. Anyway bye.
Oh, I meant crossbow, not harpoon gun! I don't know why the heck he would be carrying a harpoon gun.
