Chatterbox: Inkwell

Launching my ideaaaaa

Launching my ideaaaaa

So this is the RP thingy I was talking about here: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/436073

Basically, this will be an RP, but with only a few people! Maybe just the people who commented on that thread ^^^ becuz including me that's six, a good number for this.

We'll start out with one charrie each and make more if needed as we go along. But I thought first of all we could discuss, what genre/what kind of story will this be? I love fantasy best, and mystery would be fun. So those are ideas. We can have a vote i guess xD And when we're done with that, we can make the characters and after THAT we can decide how they are all related to each other and after THAT we can start writing. Whatever. We can just figure this out as it goes.

This will probably go pretty slowly, so please only join if you are committed and willing to take time with this!!! Thank you!!!! The purpose of this is to actually finish something for once, and have it be well written as well!

Yay

also @Peregrine it's fine you capitalized my name xDD no big deal

Jaelyn~

I race toward the dragons' enclosure. "Kuunvalo!" I yell frantically, "Kuunvalo!" I'm here, Kuunvalo responds as I skid into the enclosure. What are you all excited about? "Not... excited..." I pan, leaning forward with my hands on my knees and panting, "something's going on. Something bad. I don't know what it is, but we need to get to the desert, and fast." Kuunvalo nodded his silvery head. Grab you saddle, he warns, I'm going to fly fast. I do what he says and buckle on the leather saddle with a satisfying click. I jump onto Kuunvalo's back, and in a split second, we're soaring through the air. The hot wind is against us, but Kuunvalo flaps his wings furiously and somehow, we get to the desert, to the sorce of the alerting bugle blast, in mere minutes. Two dragons are on the ground, obviously injured. I guide Kuunvalo to the sandy ground and jump off. Soror is threatening a man on the ground, one claw on his throat. Blue, Lex, Jasmine, and Lyra are standing near Soror, and I spot a thin red line on Lexi's throat. My heart jumps to my chest, and I dash forward. Soror glances in my direction for a second, then growls to the man, Move and you die. He seems to shrink back onto the sand submissively. I swallow hard and get closer, Kuunvalo close behind. He's just as worried as me. I don't closely know any of these Riders, but I've met them, and they know me. Lexi turns to me and flashes a 'This is a dangerous situation' look. I nod slowly and keep getting closer until I'm level with the other Riders. The man on the ground, who I now recognize as Daniel (what the heck?) seems to be growling animalistically. "Does tis have somwthing to do with Azazel?" I whisper to Lyra. She nods wordlessly and gestures towards where the dragons who I know recognize as Kayda and Cricket are lying, groaning, on the sand. "Daniel shot them with arrows of midnight stone." I stifle a gasp and growl. Kuunvalo places a restraining talon on my shoulder, and my shoulders relax again. The sun sets lower and lower, and the sand glows fiery gold and red in the beautifu; sunset, but no one is looking in that direction. We are all staring at Daniel and Soror. My mind is racing, and I can tell that Kuunvalo's is, too. "Wait," I whisper, "can Daniel hear Soror?" All the other Riders look at me with a look of shock and surprise. "I didn't think about that," Lyra murmurs. "Soror? Can he understand you?" No, she reponds, speaking to him was just a force of habit. She presses harder when Daniel attempts to wriggle out from under her talon. She leans closer to his face, her hot breath steaming his skin. Daniel looks like he's trying to sink into the sand. "Hey, Lyra," I whisper, "would you tell Soror to calm down her killing rage? I have an idea of what to do with Daniel." Lyra nods, a curious look in her eyes. She calls in a telepathic voice that we can all here, Soror! Soror, calm down! Jaelyn said she has an idea. Soror whips her head around and looks me in the eye. She tilts her head to one side to signify that I should continue. "Well," I say, "we know almost nothing of how Azazel's court works, right?" All the Dragon Riders, plus Soror, nod slowly. Jasmine's face has a bright grin on it that evidently means, 'I know what you're getting at.' "We should keep Daniel in the dungeons below Equidron and try to get some inforamtion about him." This time, it's Soror's turn to look excited, and all the Dragon Riders stare confusedly at me. "We have dungeons?" Jasmine asks. I smile and nod, and reply, "Kuunvalo and I used to sit down there and talk." They nod their understanding, and say, "That sounds like a good idea." Soror turns back to Daniel and picks him up. He goes limp in her talons, his face showing an expressin of utter shock and fright. Then, we mount up and lift off, on our way to Equidron.

I hope it's ok that I'm posting before Mary- I just want to keep this on the 1st page!

Also, is it ok with everyone that Jasmine has a crush on Blue? I might want to ship them, idk.

Jaz-

I never thought this would happen so fast. First, the arrows and that weirdo Daniel, and now this other girl comes- Jaelyn, I remembered. I watched the smaller girl’s slick brown rippling in front of me, wondering whether she was involved in the Plan somehow…

“Hey,” I heard a timid voice coming up next to me. I looked over to see Blue and Cricket flying beside me. Blue pushed back his inky hair as it blew in the wind.

I looked at him, and when he didn’t say anything I replied with a grin, “Hey, Blue...weird times, huh?” I tried not to look worried.

“Uh, yeah, I-I guess so.” He glanced at Daniel, who was being held down on Kuunvalo (the strongest dragon, at this point) then leaned closer to me and said, “So, what with this Daniel thing and whatnot, I suppose we’re both going to be newbies at the whole destroying-the-king plan…”

“Yup, I guess so!” I chuckled a little at the irony of the situation- Blue and I had been partners, in our school project unit about Azazel’s reign, and now I guessed we might be both using that information for something other than what we’d thought. I blushed when he looked at me awkwardly- he might be a bit of a pushover, but he is kinda cute.

Finally we landed, with the Healers leading us now, after a quick stop to help heal the hurt dragons’ wounds. I stepped stiffly off Stella’s back- it had been a long day, and we still had several hours of afternoon ahead of us, presumably for working on getting stuff out of Daniel, too.

I’d barely been able to start talking to the others about what to do when my parents and brother rushed over, worried expressions sliding off their faces as they saw that Stella and I were relatively unharmed. My mother wrapped me in a hug. “Oh, Jasmine, baby! We heard so much- bugles and dragons flying out there all the time…”

“What in the world happened?” my father asked, hugging me too.

“It’s a long story,” I replied. I was just happy to be safe and not too confused anymore, but I recounted the whole thing, leaving out the part about me joining the Lunar-Sun plan- my parents most certainly wouldn’t approve of that. I would tell them in time, I told myself. My brother was the only one looking at me a little strangely. Of course he was glad I was back and all, but he seemed quite suspicious about what had happened with Daniel. Well, I wasn’t going to tell him, either. I waved goodbye to my new friends (maybe?) and went in for a home-cooked meal, all the while planning a way to sneak out and figure out what exactly was the deal with those midnight stone arrows.

~ Lyra ~

I'm leaning against Soror's chest, finishing a late lunch, when a young boy hurries into the dragons' enclosure.  I reconize him as one of the messengers.  A group of those who did not pass the test to become a Rider.

I watch him as I fold up the remains of my meal.  I am not surprised when he comes to me and holds out an envolope addressed to me.  I've been expecting a summons after the events of the day.  I take it and thank him.  He nods in return and quickly backs away towards the cavern doors, looking nervously up at Soror as he goes.

I slit open the envolope with my dagger, noticing it is sealed with the Equidron's head stamp.

"You are summoned to the Head of Equidron's office at the striking of four bells.  Expect to meet Alexandria, Jasmine Lockall, Blue Krifit, Jaelyn Sastaja Lohikaarme to dicuss important infornation concerning the well being of all dragons and Riders.  Lateness will be frowned on severely."

Lexi must be alright, then.  If she's summoned to this meeting as well.

Soror nods.

It is soon to strike four bells.  Go, I will wait and rest.

I stand and tuck the letter inside my tunic.  Before leaving I press my face against Soror's scalely chest.

I love you.

And I you, small Lyra.

~ ~ ~

I'm going to pause here because I don't have much more time and to let Mary take over as she is the leader of this.  I was thinking our characters need to discuss Daniel, what to do with Grace and Rayne (Morning's characters), and the Lunar-Sun Plan, as well as letting Jaelyn join the Plan.  But this is just what I'm thinking, do whatever you want!

Jaelyn~

I stare at the summons in alight disbelief. I can't say I didn't excpect this, but still. All the same, it's unexcpected. Kuuunvalo peers over my shoulder at the piece of parchment. It's dwarfed next to his huge silver nose. I turn to look at him. "What do you think?" I ask. He shrugs. I don't know what there is to worry about it, he admits. I look at him and realize, he's probably right. I sigh and fling my arms around his graceful neck. "I wonder what the Head wants to talk about," I say as I lean against Kuunvalo. He wrinkles his nose and shrugs again. I think you already know the answer to that, he replies. I sigh yet again. I seem to be doing a lot of sighing in this conversation. The messenger who delivered your summons must've been late, Kuunvalo remarks just as the bells strike four. I look down at my summons and gasp. "Bye, Valo!" I yell as I vault over the low gate that surrounds the dragon enclosure. See you later, he agrees calmly. I burst into Equidron, receiving a few strange looks from younger not-yet-Dragon-Riders and teachers. I pay them no mind and race down the halls, finally skidding to a stop in front of the Head's office door. I push back my hair and quickly straighten my tunic. Then, I open the glossy wooden door and step in. The other Riders mentioned on the summons are already there. The Head shoots me a quick look, to which I shrug and say, "I'm technically not late, at least not for how late the messenger delivered the summons to me," the Head mirrors my shrug and gestures for us all to sit down.

I'm sorry, I'm busy and can't write any more than this! But someone else, please make a post.

Lexi ~

I never liked the infirmary very much. It was all white walls and white hospital beds, and the surroundings constantly reminded you that you were injured. But, being the daredevil little kid I was, I ended up in the infirmary quite a lot as a child.

Now upon my return here, nothing had changed except for the severity of my injury. I adjusted the lightweight purple scarf tied around my neck, wincing slightly, and sat up. In one corner, a little kid was getting a band-aid put on their knee. In a bed across the aisle was an adult rider, presumably sick. At the front was a nurse who was speaking with a messenger. I didn't think much of it and began reaching for a magazine to read when the messenger started walking over to me. Surprised, I sat up and took the envelope from his hand. It was stamped with the Head's seal.

You are summoned to the Head of Equidron's office at the striking of four bells.  Expect to meet Alexandria Rowes, Jasmine Lockall, Blue Krifit, Jaelyn Sastaja Lohikaarme to discuss important information concerning the well being of all dragons and Riders.  Lateness will be frowned on severely.

I wrinkled my nose at the “Alexandria” on the note. My name is Lexi, thank you very much. "Thank you," I said to the messenger, dismissing him.

Hmm. I wonder what the head could want. I turned and looked out the small window at the massive clock face on Equidron’s astronomy tower, and realized that there were only mere minutes before the clock struck four bells. Eyes widening, I jumped out of my bed, slightly dizzy from standing up so fast, and raced out of the health wing. I raced up the stairs and down the hall, my heavy footsteps being absorbed by the thick carpet. I received a few strange looks from the people in the halls as I raced along, but I finally reached the door to the spiral staircase that led up to the head’s office.

“Why is the Head… Up so many stairs…” I panted as I hauled myself up the last step and into the Head of Equidron’s office, where I found three pairs of eyes staring at me. Jasmine, Blue, and the head of Equidron herself, Reagan Cavaleiro. A minute later, Jaelyn stepped inside, quickly saying, “I'm technically not late, at least not for how late the messenger delivered the summons to me,” Reagan simply shrugged and gestured for all of us to sit down. She watched and analyzed us for a moment, then began.

“So I’ve heard that you’ve all had an exciting day,” she said, and we all agreed. “I’m impressed with your quick thinking.” She gave each of us a thoughtful look. “After this display of courage, I have come to the executive decision that,” she paused for dramatic flair, “I am going to allow you four to run your own Lunar Sun unit.”

We all gasped. There were multiple Lunar Sun units, each one made up of a particularly selected group of Riders and Dragons that would work well together in the fight against Azazel. But to have our very own unit - it was a spectacular accomplishment. I glanced over at my peers (and now unit buddies), who were looking equally as shocked, Jaelyn especially. She hadn’t yet been given a place in the Lunar Sun plan, and now she was part of her very own unit.

“Of course, there will be a few more riders joining you, mostly adults, for safety,” Reagan added. “Your unit is also a very special one because it has Lunar and Solar dragons. But I believe this will make you stronger. Congratulations.” We were speechless.

“Th-thank you,” I finally stammered, and the others followed suit.

“Here are your unit pins,” she said, holding out her palm, which contained four gold pins. We each took one.

A half-sun, half-moon symbol was emblazoned on the bottom, with the word Equidron written in cursive around the rim. And our unit’s symbol in the middle of the pinl - which reminded us of who we were and how we got here - was a single Midnight Stone arrow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yaaaaayy! I hope you're all okay with this, I think it's a pretty good idea.
Anyway, anyone can keep role-playing, but I do think we should discuss the plot a bit. There still needs to be some discussion done at the Head's office, like what to do with Grace and Rayne and how to deal with Daniel. We also need to:
- develop the characters that will be part of the Lunar Sun Arrow Unit (that's what I'm calling it)
- decide when the Lunar Sun is going to be
- decide who's dragons are fueled by sunlight and who's are fueled by moonlight. Kayda is fueled by sunlight. (see my very first RPing post for more details)
Memphis says fixtm. Fix This Month? Why does it need fixing?
Anyway, later lizards! Happy Riding! And thank you to the Admins for reading this lengthy post ;P
Woohoo, new part! Hopefully I added something to the story, a lot of this was written before thr last part was out.
I was on my way home, half-listening to my brother and parents talk to me, but I was really thinking about the events of the morning. Surely, I would get to DO something after this!? But as we approached my house, I did not expect what I saw when I got home- a uniformed Messenger from the Head of Equidron. He waved us down and quickly handed me an envelope. Wondering what in the world the Head could want with little old me, I opened it and saw that I'd be MEETING the Head, along with everyone who'd been there for the events of the morning- and in only a few minutes!
"Guys..." I said, holding out the letter for my family to see, "I have to go- I'm meeting the Head!" I could hardly contain my anticipation.
"Um, why?" My brother actually looked a little jealous.
"I don't know- but I gotta go!" I half lied, and started jogging toward the building. I caught them giving me weird looks, but who cares! I could explain later. After getting a very concerned Stella out of the dragon enclosure, I took a shortcut through downtown Equidron, and bumped into Blue again just as we climbed the steps to where the Head was.
"Well, do you know why we're here?" I ask him. He shakes his head, and so I promptly swing open the door.
The Head was sitting along the middle of the back wall, in her official throne. She was wearing a kindly expression, which made me feel better, but I still felt worried. "Children," she said, "You are here...while we wait for your companions today, why don't you take a seat?"
“O-okay,” I say, self-consciously sitting in one of the intricate chairs. Blue sits in the one next to me. When the Head doesn’t say anything for a moment, I decide to speak, hoping it wasn’t rude, “I- well, I suppose you want to hear about the, uh, expedition this morning…”
“Of course. But also prepare to tell me about yourselves. The reason I wanted you here was, as you may have guessed, to see if such young adults as yourself would be up for a...special job. I will explain when your companions arrive.” So Blue and I proceeded to explain the events of the morning, until the rest of the group came in.
~~~~

I was in a state of shock. Everyone else seemed to be, too, but the Head continued talking. “Now, there’s a lot to explain if you are truly in this. I believe that you can’t force someone to fight in such a battle if they don’t want to- so, think- do you?”

“Yes,” echoes around the room.

“Alright then, on to what you will do in you new jobs-”

“Wait!” Everyone’s heads turn towards Lexi, who is looking slightly embarrassed, but goes on. “Excuse me, Your Majesty, but- what happened to those two that fell right out of the sky while we were out there? The fiery-haired ones?”

“Yes,” said the Head with a strange look. “You see, we don't exactly know what to do with them. I thought they might be Azazel’s spies as well, but the small one is very convincingly against him, it seems..” Then a guard poked his head into the room.

“Sorry to interrupt, Your Majesty, but there seems to be a problem.”
