Chatterbox: Inkwell

Launching my ideaaaaa

Launching my ideaaaaa

So this is the RP thingy I was talking about here: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/436073

Basically, this will be an RP, but with only a few people! Maybe just the people who commented on that thread ^^^ becuz including me that's six, a good number for this.

We'll start out with one charrie each and make more if needed as we go along. But I thought first of all we could discuss, what genre/what kind of story will this be? I love fantasy best, and mystery would be fun. So those are ideas. We can have a vote i guess xD And when we're done with that, we can make the characters and after THAT we can decide how they are all related to each other and after THAT we can start writing. Whatever. We can just figure this out as it goes.

This will probably go pretty slowly, so please only join if you are committed and willing to take time with this!!! Thank you!!!! The purpose of this is to actually finish something for once, and have it be well written as well!

Yay

also @Peregrine it's fine you capitalized my name xDD no big deal

Ok, quick announcement, this RP has had so much wonderful world building put into it and the whole point of all our discussion and the small amount of people was so that we could actually FINISH this RP and not let it fall to the back pages like the abundance of RPs do. So, to make that possible, I'm gonna say go ahead and write your second installments, and just keep writing, and we can talk about our ideas for the plot whenever we want. It gets kind of boring waiting around for other people to write, so go crazy. Write all you want, and if the plot is going nowhere we can pause for a minute.

I don't know why I made an entire paragraph of that, I probably could've said it all in one sentence:

Because waiting around for others is boring, go ahead and write your next installments, and if the plot goes nowhere we can pause.

Boom. That's all I actually had to say

I was in a great mood as I skipped through the main street of Equidron, my brother, Hugo, jogging to keep up beside me. He's 18, and too proud for skipping. But he still smiled and said,"See ya later, Jaz!" as he approached the cafe where he works.

Unlike me, he was never chosen to be a dragon rider, so he's taken up cooking as a hobby. I waved goodbye and made my way to the dragon's enclosure. I pushed open the gates, noticing the beautifully carved metal, but before I could she bounded up to me, knocking me playfully to the ground. I pull out a nargine, a long, citrus-y fruit which only grows in Makra, one of our neighboring kingdoms. Well, really it’s a democracy. I wonder what living in a place like that would be like. Nargines are Stella’s absolute favorite food-although even her mother, the dragon queen, rarely gets them. “You ready for our class?”, Stella asks me as we split the fruit. “You know Mr. Marren and Grath’s classes are never easy.”

“What do you think I brought this for? I tell her, pulling a thick notebook out of my bag.

“Well, looks like you’re a committed student, Stella replies, smiling. As we leave the enclosure and head through a slightly wooded trail, I whisper to her, “So, ya know the Plan, right? The Solstice Plan?”

“Yes… all the dragons do,” she replied, seeming to revere in the fact that her kind would possibly be on their way to safety.

“Well, I have my own plan. To join! That’s why I wanted to take this class!” I said all in a rush.

“Keep your voice down, there could be spies. And no, you’re only 14!” she whisper-yelled.

“15 in a week, and I’ll master this class! I’ll study everything there is to know! This is important to me. I can’t stand being on the sidelines of everything!”

“Your parents will never let you, anyway.”

“ They don’t need to know. But I’ll tell Lyra. She is the one organizing it. They could use me.”

“Well…,” Stella seemed like she was struggling. She loves an adventure just as much as I do, and I know she’d do anything to save our peaceful way of life. “Ok, you win. But we have a lot of work to do.”

Here is an installment from Grace's perspective:

I walk halfheartedly into the kitchen. Mother does have supper on the table. Rayne's favorite, fried bread with honey and salmon. I despise it. I am a wholehearted vegetarian, and the sight of the poor dead bodies on the table only serve to lower my spirits even further. I can't wait for the festival. Something is going to happen. Something important.

I don't know how I know, but I do. Something deep inside of me seems to shiver.

"Grace? Grace, are you okay?" Rayne shakes my arm. "Here is your dinner." He hands me a plate of the meal (with no salmon, of course) and sighs. "I don't know how you can handle living without meat."

"I'm only doing what I believe is right." I perk up, ready to launch into an explanation of my beliefs, but my father interrupts me.

"Azazel is making a speech today. The whole city has to attend."

I leap up. "I won't go."

"Grace!" My mother fans herself with her table knife, bringing it dangerously close to my brother's nose. He flinches. "You must support Azazel, our king."

"He's twisted and evil!"

"Do not speak about our ruler in that way in this household!"

I leap from the table. "Fine! I won't. I'll leave and yell it in the streets." I rush away, stopping only to grab my favorite cloak. From the corner of my eye, I see Rayne glance regretfully at his plate, and then get up, too. I knew he would. He's my older brother, but I have always been the leader.

Once we get to the street, he grabs me and forces me to look at him. Rayne is bigger and stronger than me, and I have no choice but to comply. "Please don't, Grace."

I look up at him defiantly. "Why not."

"If Azazel is as twisted as you say he is. . ."

"He is."

"Then he will. . . do things to you. Bad things. If you speak out against him."

"And that would be fine. It would show the whole world his true face."

I wrench myself away from my brothers grasp. I will do whatever I want, and there is no stopping me.

***A Note:

I am now officially going to adopt Grace and Rayne as my AEs. They will still be ordinary charries in this RP, but you may see them elsewhere as my AEs. I hope this is okay with everyone. Are there any secret rules against that?

Raven ~

I sit up in bed and push my thick purple comforter off me. My maid, Lucille, walks in, wheeling a cart full of pancakes, eggs, and orange juice.

"Good morning, Raven," she says.

"Good morning," I reply, taking a sip of orange juice.

"King Azazel is speaking to the kingdom this afternoon. He expects you in the main hall at noon." I nod and dismiss her, then walk across my massive room to the balcony. I open up the French doors to let in some fresh air. As I sit down in my armchair with my plate of pancakes, I hear shouting outside. Stepping out onto the balcony and straining my eyes, I can see a girl shouting and protesting Azazel. With a sigh I step back inside and close the doors. So much for fresh air. People had been protesting Azazel for a long time, but I didn't see anything bad in him. After all, would a bad guy take in apoor girl like me after my parents died?

I shake my head and walk to my three-mirror vanity. I braid my silky black hair into a long braid, and finish it off with a flower pin. After changing out of my nightgown and finishing breakfast, I decide it's time to start another day.

I open my bedroom doors and step into the hall.

The setting sun sent shafts of light across the forest.  Tinging the land with yellow and orange.  A cool breeze accompanied the last rays from the sun.  Lyra's hair and Soror's scales glowed, reflecting the sun's light as they headed for Equidron.

They were silent, tired from their full day of practice.  Soror glided over Remboreth.  The waterfall was so huge Lyra could feel the mist far above the tumbling waters.

Soror landed on the expansive landing platform.  Lyra untied herself and slid off Soror.  Together they crossed the platform.  Soror's claws ticked on the flagstones.

Once inside Equidron Lyra removed the small saddle from Soror.  Lyra stepped into the saddle room. She cleaned and hung the saddle in it's designated place, then stepped out into the hall where Soror waited for her.

As they made their way to the dining hall a girl with curly brown hair rushed up to Lyra, a notebook under her arm and a dragon behind her.

"I'd like to --" began the girl excitedly before she stopped abruptly then said in a softer voice.  "May I join the Lunar-Sun plan?"

Lyra looked at the girl then pulled her into an empty room.  The dragons followed.

"Your name?" Lyra asked once she shut the door.

"Jasmine," the girl said.  "This is Stella," she added motioning to the yellow/gold dragon who inclined her head upon being introduced.

Lyra smiled, "I'm Lyra."   Lyra started again before Jasmine could say anything.  "You want to join the Lunar-Sun attempt," she stated.  "How long have you been flying?"

"Not long," Jasmine answered.  "I'm only 14."

Lyra nodded.  "Let me talk to Lexi.  I need her aproval as she is helping me with this.  I'll let you know what we decide."

A wide smile spread across Jasmine's face.  "Thank you!"

The meal time gong sounded.  Resonating throughout Equidron.

Lyra smiled back at Jasmine.  "Would you like to eat together?"

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Majestic Mary, you can do the post where Lyra talks with Lexi about letting Jasmine join the Lunar-Sun plan.  You can also have them talk about other things.

Heroes, I think you will have to do a post.  I'm not sure how you want Blue to be saved from falling.

Lexi [p. 1 of 3] ~
I yawn, tired after a full day of flying, and hang Kayda's saddle in its designated spot. The meal gong sounds, so I give Kayda a pat on the head and set off toward the dining hall. When I walk in through the grand wooden doors, I spot Lyra already in our usual place, with a girl I vaguely recognize sitting next to her. As I get closer, I realize who she is. Stella's dragon rider, Jasmine, or something like that.
"Hey," I say, sitting down next to them.
"Hey, Lexi, this is Jasmine. She's 14 -"
"15 in a week," Jasmine adds.
"And she wants to join the Lunar Sun plan. She is technically still in training, but she's about to graduate," Lyra concludes. I pause for a moment and blink. Lyra isn't one to waste time.
"That was a lot of information in one sentence," I say with a laugh. "But in all seriousness, if you've got a dragon and you can fly, we'll take all the help we can get." Jasmine beams.
"She is only fifteen," Lyra reminds me.
"I'M fifteen," I remind her. "And besides, if we really want this to work, we're going to need more people." Lyra nods slowly, seeming convinced.
"Ok," she says. "We have bookwork classes tomorrow morning, but in the afternoon we can take a fly and go over the plan. Sound good?" I nod, and Jasmine looks thrilled. We eat the rest of our dinner in peace.

So, yes, I do have two more parts coming. It gets quite dramatic, so be prepared.
