Forest Role Play

Forest Role Play

In the middle of a huge sea of trees lies a tiny town.

The forest used to be called Silva Vivus Umbrare, which, when translated from the old language, means the Forest of Living Shadows, but the people just called it the Woods. Still, the forest lived up to its old name.

The trees moved during the night, uprooting themselves and gliding across the earth to a new spot. Sometimes the guards on duty at night would catch a glimps of an elk or deer gliding through the trees with a tall, graceful figure on its back. Occasionally, a larger creature slipped past the guards and stole away a cow or pig or goat.

But even with all of the dangers which surrounded them, the people of the town were proud to say that through the half-decade of the existance of the town, they have never lost a person to the woods or to any creature living in the woods.

Until now.

This year, during the Cilana festival, a time in the spring when the people cut down all the trees which have grown at or moved to the edge of the town, three young children disappeared.

Alana, an eight-year-old girl with frizzy red hair and a quick smile, Jakob, a serious five-year-old boy with sunburned skin from too many naps in the open, and Zena, a talkative seven-year-old girl with intense blue eyes. Their disappearence stopped the Cilana festival and threw the town into chaos.

The townspeaple knew that the three would never have gone off into the Woods by themselves, for the fear of the forest was too deep set in everyone, so the townspeople could only think that they had been kindnapped or stolen. Although the townspeaple were frightened and scared and the parents of the children were frantic, only a few people dared to go out into the woods.

You, along with a small group, have decided to venture into the forest to see if the children can still be found. Your bravery has given the town new hope, and the townspeaple have provided you with weapons, tools, and horses. You will leave on the new moon.

I sit next to Zander watching him look around in wonder.

"You really don't remember?" I ask

"I don't know anything."

"Not even me?" I ask. For some reason I left an impact on alot of people.

He sits there looking confused "did we date?"

"WHAT? nonononononono. We. did. not. date." I say flustered, "We hated eachother,"

"really?" Zander asks

"Um, yes! But uh I'll be back." I stand up and walk away. I literally run into someone.

"How is he?" Bradley asks

"uh, not really well. He thinks that we dated." I stare at the ground and mess with my hair.

He laughs "Now that would be amusing. But Jeannie has an idea on how to help him."

"That's good. Because we did not and will not ever date." I state

"mhm whatever you say." He looks behind me, "He's watching us"

"Yea just- we need to fix this." I go to look for Jeannie.

Demi~

(I'm going along with Rainbow Riot's post from earlier)

I looked around and noticed something was off.

"Where's Ash?" I asked Jeannie, who was hugging Alana fiercely. She didn't answer, but I understood, I would be ecstatic if Alana was my up-until-now-missing cousin. So I decided to go look for him.

I stood up and walked around the campsite. Voices could be heard nearby, and naturally I was intrigued but cautious after my experiance with that evil man. I snuck into the nearest bush.

"Why, merely a travelling bard!" I heard Ash say.

"Well you shouldn't be travellin' around these parts. Get. Out. Now." a gruff voice said.

I revealed myself, which was probably foolish, but I did anyway.

"Who's this now?" the same gruff voice said.

"My sister." Ash replied cooly.

I stared at him, "Your si-"

"Play along! They have Zena." he muttered so only I could hear.

"No they don't, Zena and Alana are both at the camp." I muttered back, confused.

"Stop whispering you hooligans! Now get out or your dead."

"I don't think so." Ash stood firm. "What are you doing with that kid?"

I turn to where Ash pointed, there, sitting on a log looking very scared was Zena!

"Wait." I whispered. "There's two Zenas? The other must be an imposter of some sort!"

The creature (maybe an elf?) replied in an icy tone, "She's ours."

This was infuriating me, who unlike Ash, can't play it cool sometimes. "Hey!" I shouted at it. "Hand her over or your dead!"

"Chill!" Ash said, which infuriated me more.

"I'm not going to chill until we have her back," I started to storm over to the other side of the campfire but he grabbed my arm.

"Just give her to us and no harm will be done," Ash calmly requested.

"No. We warned you that if you didn't leave you'll be dead." The elf-thing said, pulling out a bow and arrow.

It was like slow-motion, the elf pulled the bowstring and released, sending the arrown flying over the flames of the fire, right for Ash! I couldn't bear to see any of my close friends hurt, so I pushed myself in front of him and faced him, so my back was toward the oncoming arrow.

I cried out in pain before collapsing to the ground.

"Demi!" I heard Ash say before I blacked out.

Bradley's POV

"Demi!" I heard Ash scream.

"Oh, no. Oh, nononononononono. Oh, no way this is happening." I said, running towards Ash.

I saw Demi on the ground, with an arrow in her side. She groaned in pain, and I looked towards a creature-- Maybe an elf?-- aming something at me. Not a bow, but it looked like a bottle of something... GREEN?!

"Hey, hey, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, don't harm me with that. I didn't do it. Now, before things get really ugly for you, put that bottle down. I know what that does to a person, and trust me, it's NOT good. Especially not for me." I said, muttering the last part under my breath.

"Yeah, and that's why I saved this for you, Bradley Harrison. This... This will bring out the real you." The elf said, throwing the potion at me.

I braced for impact, as the bottle broke against me, and glass went everywhere!

I blacked out next to Demi.

I woke up a few hours later, with the others starin' at me, I think because they were wondering why I had ran towards Demi really quickly.

"Whoa... Everything's... Spinning..." I muttered, tryin' to get up. I failed, and instead I landed on my hind end.

Sorry, about the cliffhanger... I'm havin' trouble thinkin' about what to do next...

I was thinking, since I mentioned "two Zena's" we can either ignore that part (it was kind of far-fetched) or we could say the "first Zena" was actually a creature that can shape-shift...idk...what do y'all think?

Finally! I'm posting! I'm sososorry this took so long.

Jeannie~

“Demi!” Not that she didn’t think Demi and Bradley weren’t cute (they were adorable) but Jeannie wished they would spare her the Demley mushiness until they’d fixed Zander’s memory issues.

Demi shook herself and focused. “Okay, what’s the plan?”

“So, the last thing he remembers is the… body,” Jeannie said awkwardly. “Yes, which means it probably had something to do with that. He just… lost it,” Iyara jumped in. Demi nodded. “So, um, we need to-” Jeannie looked to Iyara for assistance. She wasn’t much help- just shrugged and went back to try and pry Sebastian off of Zena.

“Okay, so we need to trigger a memory. What’s one thing that happened--” she started again, but Demi interrupted. “You’re suggesting we try to simulate one of the bad experiences since then, right? It’s not going to work,” she said sadly. Jeannie deflated like a popped balloon.

“...what do we do, then?” Demi bit her lip. “I… don’t know.” Jeannie sighed. “Okay, well, I had a plan B, want to hear it?” Demi nodded. “Couldn’t hurt, at this point.” She smiled weakly. “Yeah. I am not claiming to know anything about amnesia- I really don’t- but what if we just… told him everything that happened since the… body… and see if it triggers anything? Plus, of course, all the stuff that happened before then. It’s kind of unlikely that will work, at all, but do you think it’s worth a try?”

Demi bit her lip. “I… well… we don’t have any other ideas… so… yeah, okay.”

“Jeannie? What-- what’s going on?” a voice said behind her. She stilled, and turned around, her eyes welling with tears. “It’s… hard to explain, Alana. But basically, we put together a search team from the village, and we came to find you. And now, Zander has amnesia. He’s forgotten everything, except for a- um- for a… dead b-ody…” her voice cracked a little bit in the word “body.” Alana nodded, her eyes widening. “Did you get Jakob? We- we had to leave him- and Zena isn’t-” she burst into tears.

“Yes, don’t worry,” Jeannie said softly, grabbing her hand. Alana’s hand curled around Jeannie’s, just like it always had, and Jeannie impulsively hugged her, trying hard not to cry.

The moment of peace was soon over, though. The silent air was pierced by Demi’s scream. Ash’s shout followed. Next were several loud thumps and shouts of “Bradley!” along with some colorful cursing.

And then she heard it.

“Zena- Zena- no- no, no, no, this isn’t happening-” Sebastian.

Jeannie let go of Alana and grabbed her hand again. On the way she pulled Jakob out of his tent. No way was she letting whatever happened to Zena happen to them. “Jeannie- I need to tell you- It isn’t the real Zena!- No, wait, stop! Listen to me-”

But Jeannie just dragged them on, despite numbered protests. “Listen to me!”

“Sebastion-” she started, coming to a halt in the middle of a clearing. Everyone was gathered around a fallen Demi and Bradley.

“What happen-” she started again, and then she saw Sebastian, standing in front of them all. No tears. Just silence. Terrible, horrible, awful silence. Zena was on the other side of the flames.

“Sebastian-” she was mouthing the words, tears running down her cheeks.

The Zena we had wasn’t the real Zena. That’s what Alana had been trying to tell Jeannie. And she’d just realized it too late.

Demi was on the floor.

Arrow in her back.

Bradley was on the floor.

Unconscious, and Jeannie didn’t know why.

Sebastian was…

Broken, maybe. But maybe not.

“Help…” Jeannie whispered. “Help us…”

Everything wasn’t fine. Everything was the opposite of fine.

Demi~

I blinked my eyes open, and in doing so I beacame aware of a searing pain in my side. Lying beside me was...it took me a moment to comprehend my surroundings...Bradley?

Oh no. What happend to him? I thought, very concerned.

With difficulty I pushed myself up and looked around. Ash was standing near me, looking with horror at the elf-thing, who was digging around in their satchel for more weapons. Jeannie, Alana, and everyone else had run over and was now standing in front of the bush I had gone through to enter.

"What. Have. You. Done. With. My. Sister????" Sebastian growled through clenched teeth. "And what even are you?"

"Ahem," the elf-thing began. "I'm Enoch and I am a Fynchnox, though I don't expect you stupid humans to know what that is.

"Actually," Caston spoke up "I do. A Fynchnox is a elf/gnome-like creature who can speak English and is carnivorious. They travel alone, and kidnap anyone around to..er..e-end them."

"If you're so smart, why don't you do the smart thing and get out of here." Enoch threatened. Or else I will end her-" he (was it a he or she? or just they?) pointed to Zena.

"NO!" Sebastian yelled. "DON'T YOU DARE. IF YOU DO YOU WILL REGRET IT."

The Fynchnox chuckled. "Ah well. I have enouch arrows to finish you all off anyway."  he pulled out an arrow and brandished it menacingly.

The pain was almost unbearable. I could no longer put energy into sitting up, I laid bakc down and closed my eyes, blacking out again.

"Stay here." I hiss to Zander

He nods.

I draw my sword and go figure out what's happening. Then I see... Zena? I thought we got the...

Oh no. ohnohonohono. This is bad this is very very bad.

"Hey," I tap Jeannie on the shoulder, "What's a Fynchnox doing here?"

"I don't know!" She whispers back

"Listen, you need to get Demi and Bradley away from him. And Alana. What happens next won't be pretty."

"What's going to happen?" She looks worried

"Just, get. them. out." I hiss, "And while you're at it get everyone else away and keep on going. I'll... catch up."

"What are you doing?"

"Just go!" I step forward. "Hello, I understand that you wish to attack us is that correct?"

"I am hungry, now leave or I will not hesitate to end her!" Enoch yells.

"I wish to offer myself instead of her." I say quickly.

Ah I love character development.  So anyway I don't know if I'll have enough time to post here anymore with midterms and what not. So in the next post I will detirmine if Macy dies or not. You guys can write up your charries responses to this and I'll figure this out.

Demi~

"Demi, Demi! Oh please wake up!" someone says as they shake me. Again I woke up.

"C'mon Dem, can you walk?" Jeannie asks. "We need to get everyone out of here."

"I-I think so.." I reply. I touch my side, right next to the arrow and look at my hand. Blood. I shudder and look away.

"Ok good. Iyara, can you help Demi? I'll get Bradley." Jeannie said, standing up.

"All right," Iyara said. I sit up, then slowly get to my feet, leaning on her. "Here, I'll remove the arrow, hold still." I grimace as Iyara gingerly removes the arrow.

"Thanks." I manage to say.

"Everything's....Spinning...." Bradley says quietly, trying to get up and falling on his rear.

"Can you stand?" Jeannie asks him.

"I'm a little dizzy...but sure, I'll try." he also managed to stand up.

"So..what happend to you?" I ask him, in a slight joking way, trying to lighten the situation.

"That thing-" Bradley points to Enoch, "-threw a bottle of liquid right at me, which knocked me out."

"No time for chitchat," Jeannie scolds.

"Wait, why are Macy and Zander staying?" I asked, confused.

"M-Macy said that she'll...catch up later. We need to go." Jeannie said, and I detected fear in her voice.

"I am not leaving." Sebastian said, standing his ground. "She's my sister and I'm not leaving her."

"Sebastian, just come on, Macy is going to get her back, don't worry." Ash said.

Sebastian sighed. "Fine, but I'm not going far."

As we start to leave, Jeannie quickly runs up and hugs Macy tightly, catching her off-guard. Macy hugs back and then Jeannie walks to the front of the group and leads us away.

"Wait." Azi stops. "I can't believe it."

"What?" Caston asked.

"We just willingly left our friends there, basically to die. Is that really who we are?"

"Well, Macy a-asked me to get everyone to safety." Jeannie stated.

"And leave her in danger?"

"Guys." Bradley says. "Macy's going to trade her life for Zena's. I just know it."

I gasped.

"Oh no..what can we do?" Iyara moaned.
