Forest Role Play

Forest Role Play

In the middle of a huge sea of trees lies a tiny town.

The forest used to be called Silva Vivus Umbrare, which, when translated from the old language, means the Forest of Living Shadows, but the people just called it the Woods. Still, the forest lived up to its old name.

The trees moved during the night, uprooting themselves and gliding across the earth to a new spot. Sometimes the guards on duty at night would catch a glimps of an elk or deer gliding through the trees with a tall, graceful figure on its back. Occasionally, a larger creature slipped past the guards and stole away a cow or pig or goat.

But even with all of the dangers which surrounded them, the people of the town were proud to say that through the half-decade of the existance of the town, they have never lost a person to the woods or to any creature living in the woods.

Until now.

This year, during the Cilana festival, a time in the spring when the people cut down all the trees which have grown at or moved to the edge of the town, three young children disappeared.

Alana, an eight-year-old girl with frizzy red hair and a quick smile, Jakob, a serious five-year-old boy with sunburned skin from too many naps in the open, and Zena, a talkative seven-year-old girl with intense blue eyes. Their disappearence stopped the Cilana festival and threw the town into chaos.

The townspeaple knew that the three would never have gone off into the Woods by themselves, for the fear of the forest was too deep set in everyone, so the townspeople could only think that they had been kindnapped or stolen. Although the townspeaple were frightened and scared and the parents of the children were frantic, only a few people dared to go out into the woods.

You, along with a small group, have decided to venture into the forest to see if the children can still be found. Your bravery has given the town new hope, and the townspeaple have provided you with weapons, tools, and horses. You will leave on the new moon.

Hi everyone!

Here's the character sheet. (One character per person, please.)

Name:
Age: (Around 12-20 years old.)
Gender: (Can we try for an even boy/girl mix?)
Appearence:
Personality:
Quirks:
Flaws:
Shipping:
Other:

I'll post my character once this thread shows up, and I'll start the roleplay on Saturday, July 25.

Other notes: Don't be afraid to move the story forward! Feel free to introduce your favorite kinds of magical creatures, write memorable settings in the forest, and put the charries in danger!
If anyone decides to drop out, which I hope will not happen, consider putting up one last post to take care of your character, whether to have them return to the village or be trapped somewhere or die. (Wow, that was slightly depressing!)

Write you soon!

Jeannie~

“Well, I’m glad we’ve sorted out the Zena Dilemma,” Jeannie said to Iyara tiredly. “Now all we have to do is figure out why they got captured, and get out of here, of course.” Iyara tried to smile. “Hah…  Zena Dilemma…” but it isn’t funny, at all, and this attempt at lightheartedness is making them feel worse than ever.

“We need a plan. An agenda,” Sebastian interrupted. “Hi,” Jeannie said. “Any ideas for what that should be? We have two things we need to get done- get out of here, and find out why Zena, Alana, and Jakob got captured in the first place. Should we vote on what to do first, or…?” Iyara jumped in.

Jeannie thought that seemed reasonable. Soon they were all gathered around a small fire, the smoke rising straight up in the windless forest. It was creepily still. Jeannie didn’t like it. “We need to vote on what to do next. We’ve rescued Alana, Zena, and Jakob-” Sebastian nodded to the three sleeping children a couple feet away from the group, speaking quietly- “and now we have two more things to get done.” Ash frowned. “Two?” he objected. “We just need to get them back to the village, right? Am I missing something?” he asked. “Yes,” Macy said impatiently. “We also need to figure out why they got captured.” Someone sighed loudly and everyone glared at each other, no one knowing who had done the sighing.

“Anyways, we need to vote. Raise your hand for find out why they were captured first, and don’t raise your hand to go back to the village,” Sebastian said, steering the conversation back on track.

They waited. No one raised their hands. “Zena, Jakob, and Alana wouldn’t be helpful. Jakob is what, five? Alana and Zena aren’t more than seven-” Eight- Jeannie thought automatically- “and they’d just hinder us,” Azi said reasonably. “Plus, we don’t want to put them in more danger then they have to be in,” Demi added softly. “We need to bring them back to the village. And on that note, we’re running low on supplies. Let’s get back as fast as possible.” Iyara agreed.

“We’re lost,” interrupted Caston. Everyone turned to look at him. “Well, do you know where we are?” he asked defensively, because everyone was still staring at him as if he was the only one who didn’t know where they were. “No,” Jeannie gasped, turning pale.

PLOT TWIIIIST

Anyways, I'm thinking we could end this RP when our charries get the kids back to the village, and then we could maybe make a "Forest RP Part II" role play where they do some detective work to figure out why they were captured and such. (I see lots of depressing but exciting plot twists in that RP's future XD)

So, what do y'all think? In the meantime, let's try to get back into the RPing groove and keep roleplaying. In addition, let's also try to get our charries un-lost.

@Lumi, I LOVE THAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we could cover who the Imposter Zena was, because it seems as if they slipped away while our charries were celebrating Zena. They could impersonate one of our charries and create drama MWAHAHAHA!!!

Demi~

We were lost. So focused on surviving and finding the children that we weren't paying attention to our path. Jeannie looked quite pale at the fact that we had no idea where we were. I sat down next to her and put my arm around her shoulder.

"Don't worry, there are ways of finding a path. For now, I think we had a long day and it's getting dark, let's rest," I suggested.

"Good idea Demi," Iyara agreed and we put out the small fire and head to our tents. Earlier Caston had already taken down a tent, and we were all too tired to pitch it again, so we squeezed into the three vacant ones, as the fourth was occupied by Jakob Alana and Zena.

~~~The Next Morning~~~~
I woke up to sunlight streaming through the tent I shared with Jeannie, Iyara and Macy. I sat up and quietly exited the tent. The boys were already up and taking down their tents.
"Hey Demi," said Bradley. "We've decided to start packing up."
Soon Iyara and Jeannie and Macy woke up and exited our tent.
"Technically we got here somehow, right?" Jeannie said. "I mean there's got to be a path around here that we entered through."
"We checked," said Caston. "There are three paths, none of us have any inkling of which one is right, there aren't any footprints or indications. Should we split up?"
"We've been over this," Sebastian said firmly. "We need to stick together. I say we all go on one route, if it's the wrong once we come back and try another. There's a 33.333% chance we get it right on the first try."
Everyone unanimously agreed.
I crept into the kid's tent and gently woke Alana and Zena and Jakob up. "It's going to be all right. I promise that you'll be safe and sound back at home with your families before you know it. Let's pack up and try to find the village!"
Excited with the prospect of their homes, the children hurriedly helped pack up the camp.
"Let's begin on the right path." Sebastian said and we all followed him down the road on the right side. I crossed my fingers we would make it to the village before another catastrophy.
Bradley's POV
"You guys go on ahead, I'll catch up!" I said, as the others, including the three kids, went on the right path.
Only Demi stayed ad slowly walked towards me. I kneeled down on the ashes of the fire, and dug up a small hole, and in return, found a book I'd buried there earlier, when no one was lookin'.
I was relieved that it hadn't been burned. Why did they even choose THAT. PARTICULAR. SPOT anyway?!
I just don't understand these people at times. The ONLY thing I knew for sure about Demi, was that she kept the necklace I gave her.
Anyway, I flipped through the pages, and found the page I was lookin' for.
"Gotcha now. Perfect. Maybe I can finally find out how to make sure no one knows about... what that potion does to someone like me." I mumured to myself.
"About what?" Demi said, startlin' me.
"Nothin'. Nothin' at all. This... This is just a book. What can I say? I like readin'... But, not this. This, this is just junk." I said, tossing the book aside.
"Ok..." Demi said, walkin' away to catch up with the others.
As soon as she was outta sight, I ran towards where I tossed the book.
"C'mon, c'mon, don't fail me now... Yes! Ok, where was I?" I said, as I found the book.
I flipped through the pages again, but, I felt eyes starin' at me. I slowly turned around, and saw... the guy who put the curse on me.
"Whaddya want? I already paid the VERY hard price, which, I STILL have to reverse, and you know what?! YOU'RE. NOT. HELPIN'!" I said, as he snatched the book away from me.
He was silent-- of COURSE-- and he just... stared at me.
I couldn't look away, those fire eyes were so creepy.
He stopped and apparently, the group heard me scream for them.
They ran towards Shadow-- that was the guys name-- and he dissapeared in a puff of smoke.
I'm so happy that this is thriving!
Demi~
"HELP!" I heard Bradley scream and wasted no time in dashing back to his side.
"Bradley? What happend? Are you all right? What was that thing that disapeared?" I berated him with questions.
"Shadow."
"Bradley, please tell me what that book was," I pleaded.
"Nothin', like I said."
The others caught up. "Why did you scream? Is everything ok?" Zander asked.
"Uh-huh, yeah...um...you guys can go back ahead."
"Bradley listen to me," I said shakily. "Please don't try to go somewhere alone. I need you to understand this. I-" I took a deep breath. "I don't know what I would do without you. You need to stay with the group."
A beat. Then he slowly nodded.
"Now come on, we have a village to get to." Sebastian said.
@Cynthia, I'll try to get something out this weekend. EVERYONE ELSE PLEASE POST.
Also what do y'all think of my Forest RP part 2? I think this is kinda dying and so we should try to finish it and then we can start a new one with some new charries (and maybe also some old charries?) and new CBers.
I'll try to post soon too! And Lumi, I think part two is a great idea. That way the charries that aren't active can stay back at the village, and new people who join can add their charries.
