Forest Role Play

Forest Role Play

In the middle of a huge sea of trees lies a tiny town.

The forest used to be called Silva Vivus Umbrare, which, when translated from the old language, means the Forest of Living Shadows, but the people just called it the Woods. Still, the forest lived up to its old name.

The trees moved during the night, uprooting themselves and gliding across the earth to a new spot. Sometimes the guards on duty at night would catch a glimps of an elk or deer gliding through the trees with a tall, graceful figure on its back. Occasionally, a larger creature slipped past the guards and stole away a cow or pig or goat.

But even with all of the dangers which surrounded them, the people of the town were proud to say that through the half-decade of the existance of the town, they have never lost a person to the woods or to any creature living in the woods.

Until now.

This year, during the Cilana festival, a time in the spring when the people cut down all the trees which have grown at or moved to the edge of the town, three young children disappeared.

Alana, an eight-year-old girl with frizzy red hair and a quick smile, Jakob, a serious five-year-old boy with sunburned skin from too many naps in the open, and Zena, a talkative seven-year-old girl with intense blue eyes. Their disappearence stopped the Cilana festival and threw the town into chaos.

The townspeaple knew that the three would never have gone off into the Woods by themselves, for the fear of the forest was too deep set in everyone, so the townspeople could only think that they had been kindnapped or stolen. Although the townspeaple were frightened and scared and the parents of the children were frantic, only a few people dared to go out into the woods.

You, along with a small group, have decided to venture into the forest to see if the children can still be found. Your bravery has given the town new hope, and the townspeaple have provided you with weapons, tools, and horses. You will leave on the new moon.

Hi everyone!

Here's the character sheet. (One character per person, please.)

Name:
Age: (Around 12-20 years old.)
Gender: (Can we try for an even boy/girl mix?)
Appearence:
Personality:
Quirks:
Flaws:
Shipping:
Other:

I'll post my character once this thread shows up, and I'll start the roleplay on Saturday, July 25.

Other notes: Don't be afraid to move the story forward! Feel free to introduce your favorite kinds of magical creatures, write memorable settings in the forest, and put the charries in danger!
If anyone decides to drop out, which I hope will not happen, consider putting up one last post to take care of your character, whether to have them return to the village or be trapped somewhere or die. (Wow, that was slightly depressing!)

Write you soon!

Hi, Forest RP...

we need to talk. What in the Chatterbox, Earth, Solar System, Milky Way, Universe are you doing on the second page of the Inkwell?

I suppose I should be apologizing, dearest roleplay, for it is the RPers job to keep the RP alive, is it not? (hint hint: this is my fault. and everyone else in this RP's. -_-)

So... rise, most tragic-dramatic-hilarious-at-times-RP-with-great-sentimental-value-to-me, rise.

Here's a quote to inspire you:

"Just lke moons and like suns,

With the certainty of tides,

Just like hopes springing high,

Still, I'll rise."

~Maya Angelou, Still I Rise

Forest RP, I know you can do this. You have it in you! You can do it! We still want to write you! RISE, RP!

We shall no longer neglect you; let you sit in the depths of the Inkwell! Let your name be whispered for CB generations to come, as the RP that- for once- actually finished! And had a part TWO! Rise, my dearest roleplay, rise.

Sincerely,

a CBer who loves you

I am guilty of abandoning you, dearest Forest RP, into the depths of the second page of Inkwell. I apologize, and from now on pledge to do my absolute best to finish this RP and the part 2 (which I'm so excited for!).

Also @Lumi, I'm not sure what the potion thingy was, but the book was something Bradley dug up from the ground a few hours ago and was flipping through when Demi startled him out of his research and then later Shadow - the one who put the curse on Bradley - grabbed the book from him and dissapeared. This all occurs on page 17 if you want more details!

And I thought the rhyme was very clever!

Demi~

"Oh no no no no no! This cannot be happening!" Bradley cried out, riding just ahead of me.

"I know right!" I yelled back, throwing a few of the knives I'd gathered before we got on our horses "I can't believe we are under attack everywhere we go! It's so frustrating, can there not be drama for just one moment?"

"It ain't that..." Bradley trailed off, not giving an explanation.

"Then what? I mean, we're being chased by Shadowbeasts and knives are being thrown left and right!" I call back.

"Guys...listen to me right now, y'all need to get away from here now!" Bradley yelled at us.

"What? We need to get to the village!" Macy protested. "You want to get us killed?"

"No I'm tryin' to save y'all's lives! Get away now! No time to explain, hurry! HURRY!" He ended in a scream.

I had no idea what was going on. I turned away from the Shadowbeasts who were gaining on us to look at Bradley. In horror I realized the urgency. There were patches of fur appearing on his skin, and he was slowly increasing in size. He was turning into a monster!

Sebastian must've seen too, for he started shouting out orders as fast as he could. "EVERYONE, RIDE OFF THE TRAIL TO THE LEFT! ONCE WE GET FAR ENOUGH AWAY WE'LL CONTINUE ON TO THE VILLAGE. IYARA, JEANNIE, PROTECT JAKOB AND ALANA AT ALL COSTS."

Everyone nodded and began to ride left, off the path.

"Bradley, is there anything we can do?" I yelled, hesitant to leave him.

"Demi! C'mon! Our safety is priority right now!" Sebastian shouted at me.

"Wait! Demi, there is one thing..." Bradley called to me. "Find Shadow, find the book, there's a spell to change me back! Now go, hurry before I transform more!"

I rushed over to the others who were dashing as fast as they could away from Bradley.

~~~~~~~~
I hope I'm not adding too much more to do to this RP! I love it so much and I can't wait for part 2
Caston~
Knives fly everywhere as we ride for cover. Something's going on with Bradley, and Demi's trying to help him, but I don't look back.
"Everyone, ride off the trail to the left!" Sebastian yells. "Once we get far enough away we'll continue on to the village! Iyara, Jeannie, protect Jakob and Alana at all costs."
We all turn our horses to the left and start into the woods again. I pause to let Iyara and Jeannie, who have the kids, go first. Behind us, I hear Sebastian call something to Demi, and more screams of pain from Bradley.
"Are they okay?" Jeannie asks, looking frantically over her shoulder.
I shake my head helplessly. "I have no idea, but we have to keep moving! There are still Shadowbeats, and whatever's throwing those knives." As I say the words, I sway in my saddle, dodging a blade.
Alana cries out, and Jeannie comforts her. Jakob looks terrified in the saddle.
Iyara looks around at the twisting trees. "Which way should we go?"
Macy points confidently to our right. "This way. It'll be harder going off the path, but it should take us paralell and back to the village."
I nod, then glance over my shoulder to see Demi and Sebastian riding towards us. Behind them, the Shadowbeasts are pacing but not in pursuit, and knives are being thrown less frequently. It looks like we're going to get out of this.
As I go to turn back around, I see a figure in the shadows, slipping away from the clearing. It looks humanoid, and I think I see the glint of a knife. Whoever it is, they're going away from us, which is good news, but I can't help but wonder who they could be and why they'd attack us. Could they be connected to whoever took the kids?
"Did you see-" I begin, but there's already a conversation in full swing.
"Is everyone okay?" Demi asks, looking concerned.
Zander nods. "We're all fine. Macy knows- or thinks she knows- the way back to the village."
"Then by all means," Sebastian says, "let's get going."
~~~~~~~~~~~

So when do you guys think we should wrap this up? I think some of the issues (who took the kids, who was throwing the knives, etc.) can be resolved in part two. And we could have a fresh set of charries and active RPers. I'm excited!

1. I feel really bad for disappearing from this, I swear I'll be a lot more active in Part Two! I kind of totally lost track of the storyline after taking a hiatus, and it made things a bit complicated for me.

2. We can transition to Part Two by maybe finding out searching for the kids... Was a distraction to get the well-known adventurers/fighters out of town.

It's all right! I'm just happy that you're not dropping out! Like half of the RPers here aren't active anymore.

ALSO THAT IS A GREAT IDEA! I personally think that the part 2 should start with that and then go on to have them set out again to seek out the person or creature or people who kidnapped the children to:

1. find out why they took the children

and

2. try to kill them/capture them maybe?

And the non-active rpers' charries could like "stay behind" and protect the village perhaps?

Did that make sense?

I feel like I should pop in here and say that, yes I am leaving the CB, yes I will try to visit, and someone please adopt Macy becuase I don't know if I can live without Zacy being a thing. Anyone, please.

I'm begging you.

I need Zacy to be a thing.

Demi~

"Then by all means," Sebastian urged, "let's get going."

It pained me to be leaving Bradley behind, even though I knew it was for our own good. We weaved through the trees and brush, it was slow means of progressing, but at least we were progessing at all.

Screams echoed out from where we had left Bradley, and I could not stand the sound. I wished I could rush back and help him...

The trees provided some protection from the few knives that were still being thrown. The large Shadowbeasts were having issues following us through the thickening forest. We continued on, never stopping for a moment until there wasn't an airborne knife in sight. Only then was it deemed safe to stop for a rest.

By then we'd probably strayed five miles from the path.

"Is everyone still ok?" Zander asked. Everyone nodded.

"I'm all right, except..." Caston began. "Except I saw a figure with a knife as we turned off the path. I couldn't really identify it, as it was moving away from us in a hurry. Did anyone else see it?"

Nobody said they had seen the figure too.

"Maybe it was the creature who stole that book from Bradley earlier!" I suggested excitedly.

"Demi," Sebastian said, "I know you want to help Bradley by finding that spell he said to find, but that is not the priority right now. We need to get to the village. As soon as possible."

"But-" I sighed. "You're right. I'm just worried."

"We all are. But we need to focus on the task at hand. We will help Bradley," Jeannie reassured me.

"Thanks," I said, touching the beautiful necklace he'd given me. A few tears ran down my face as I hoped Bradley would be okay.

"Let's continue on," Sebastian instructed. "I hear a stream up ahead. We can stop again there and let the horses have a drink."

Suddenly, a roar was heard in the distance.

AHHHHHH!! Sorry if I haven't been active recently, I've been playin' LEGO Worlds (I'M A MASTER BUILDER NOW YAY!!!) and I've also been watchin' The Monkees, a 1960's TV show.

Watch the show, IT'S REALLY GOOD!!!!!!

Anyway, I've also been crushin' on one of the Monkees, and listenin' to the songs that he sings over, and over, and over, and OVER UNTIL I THINK I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!

Ok, so, I have NO IDEA how to continue Bradley's POV while he is what he is, so, I might post on the Forest RP Part 2.

See you guys on the thread!!

Hi everyone!

I'm amazed that this story has continued for so long! You are all awesome, and what you've done with the prompt really blows my mind, in the best way possible.

So, I'm just posting this one comment to say thank you. Some may know that I left Chatterbox just a little after this thread started. I hopped back on to take a look around, and I was amazed to see that you have kept this thread alive and productive and epic since July.

That's a huge accomplishment. I can't tell you how happy this makes me.

Anyway, thanks for all you do, and good luck on part two!! So many Role Plays die before they reach this point. Keep up the good work! Good luck.

Thanks all!

~Hummingbird

PS. Because I'm paranoid about imposters trying to impersonate me, I'm just going to make it clear here that this is the only comment that I'm posting. Anything else you see is not me. Thanks!
