Forest Role Play

Forest Role Play

In the middle of a huge sea of trees lies a tiny town.

The forest used to be called Silva Vivus Umbrare, which, when translated from the old language, means the Forest of Living Shadows, but the people just called it the Woods. Still, the forest lived up to its old name.

The trees moved during the night, uprooting themselves and gliding across the earth to a new spot. Sometimes the guards on duty at night would catch a glimps of an elk or deer gliding through the trees with a tall, graceful figure on its back. Occasionally, a larger creature slipped past the guards and stole away a cow or pig or goat.

But even with all of the dangers which surrounded them, the people of the town were proud to say that through the half-decade of the existance of the town, they have never lost a person to the woods or to any creature living in the woods.

Until now.

This year, during the Cilana festival, a time in the spring when the people cut down all the trees which have grown at or moved to the edge of the town, three young children disappeared.

Alana, an eight-year-old girl with frizzy red hair and a quick smile, Jakob, a serious five-year-old boy with sunburned skin from too many naps in the open, and Zena, a talkative seven-year-old girl with intense blue eyes. Their disappearence stopped the Cilana festival and threw the town into chaos.

The townspeaple knew that the three would never have gone off into the Woods by themselves, for the fear of the forest was too deep set in everyone, so the townspeople could only think that they had been kindnapped or stolen. Although the townspeaple were frightened and scared and the parents of the children were frantic, only a few people dared to go out into the woods.

You, along with a small group, have decided to venture into the forest to see if the children can still be found. Your bravery has given the town new hope, and the townspeaple have provided you with weapons, tools, and horses. You will leave on the new moon.

Hi everyone!

Here's the character sheet. (One character per person, please.)

Name:
Age: (Around 12-20 years old.)
Gender: (Can we try for an even boy/girl mix?)
Appearence:
Personality:
Quirks:
Flaws:
Shipping:
Other:

I'll post my character once this thread shows up, and I'll start the roleplay on Saturday, July 25.

Other notes: Don't be afraid to move the story forward! Feel free to introduce your favorite kinds of magical creatures, write memorable settings in the forest, and put the charries in danger!
If anyone decides to drop out, which I hope will not happen, consider putting up one last post to take care of your character, whether to have them return to the village or be trapped somewhere or die. (Wow, that was slightly depressing!)

Write you soon!

ALL IS NOT LOST!!! *cheers excitedly* (PS, about my previous post: let’s just say it took place before they found Demi & Jakob and got captured) and no worries, Quill! I don’t think you controlled her too much at all! :)

Jeannie~

Jeannie had thought they were out of the woods.

Actually, no. Bad wording.

Jeannie had thought things were finally going to go their way. Unsurprisingly- or at least, as she later thought, it SHOULD have been unsurprising- she was wrong. Bradley had just passed out. Demi had revived him, of course, but who knew how he’d be able to ride with a broken arm.

It was twisted at a weird angle, so unnatural Jeannie could hardly bear to look. Demi’s face was grim and her teeth were clenched as she wrapped his arm with the bandages Jeannie handed her. Bradley was gasping in pain every time Demi pulled and Demi in turn flinched.

Ash tried to cheer Bradley up by making bad jokes, but all the poor guy could manage were a few weak smiles. Jeannie, feeling completely useless, watched Iyara and Leilani making dinner and having a worried conversation. Macy was unsheathing and resheathing her weapons in turn, making everyone around her rather nervous. Caston was standing next to Jeannie, looking just as helpless as she felt.

She stroked Seafoam absentmindedly, worrying. She jumped as Bradley shouted in pain and winced. “All done!” Demi’s voice, trembling slightly, said with fake cheerfulness. Jeannie looked over at her handiwork. Bradley’s arm was swollen, but at least it was at the proper angle. Demi had created a makeshift sling out of a blanket, and she quickly draped it over his shoulder, tying it so it wouldn’t fall.

“I don’t know how he’s going to steer, but I think he can make it for the rest of the journey. I could go back with him, but…” Demi offered, but it was clear she didn’t want to. “No!” Bradley protested anyways. “If I can ride, I’m coming.” It was pointless to argue. “Well… we could leave the lead rope on, and I could tie it to Seafoam’s saddle. Or Callisto’s, if you prefer,” Jeannie suggested.

Demi looked thoughtful. “That could work…” Jeannie felt very proud of herself. She was the youngest, a sore point. She felt she’d just been a dead weight the entire time, except for when she’d been able to talk to the bird. But Silva Vivus Umbrare wasn’t friendly to birds. There weren’t many of them. She wondered what the sparrowhawk had been doing here in the first place…

“Yes, it would,” Demi decided, bringing Jeannie back down to earth. “But it’d probably be better to attach him to you, Jeannie. Callisto generally doesn’t like being crowded.” The younger girl smiled. “No problem. Let’s wait ‘til tomorrow to keep going, though. This is a good spot and I don’t really want to be riding at night in this particular forest. Also,” she nodded at Jakob, whose eyelids were drooping.

The group agreed, and after a passable dinner of fish- they were following the river- and wild potatoes that tasted better than expected, sleeping arrangements were made.

The next morning, after a quick breakfast of leftover dinner, Bradley’s horse was tied to Seafoam as discussed, and he was boosted up without too much difficulty. Although, several gasps of pain could be heard throughout the process, and Jeannie felt slightly sympathetic for the horse, who was patiently standing as Bradley leaned on him in some ways that could hardly be called comfortable.

But without further ado, they set off, following the river and hoping they’d have another stroke of luck.

Sorry I haven't around, I've been busy with my 'Steampunk Human Testing Facility RP'. Nobody who submitted their charries posted yet, so I'm sort of keeping it alive by myself.

I'll write something later today.

Hi guys.

@Cynthia if you don't have any ideas here are some starters:

-make something bad happen to our charries. again (XD)

-make something good happen our charries!

-make someone get injured/poisoned/sick/etc. (this goes under the first category)

-give our charries a clue to find Zena and Alana

-make a super emotional post that's entirely centered on your charrie's feelings

-just make a post about everyday life while adventuring in Silvus Vivus Umbrare!

-do some worldbuilding- what was it like in the village? Does your charrie miss it? Who were their friends? Their family?

*takes a bow*

Hope this helped!

AHHHH!! *Kicks down the door with my foot* Sorry if I haven't been on here for a LOONG time, I WAS ON VACATION!!!!!!! Mmm, this fudge is SO good.

Bradley's POV

"Ow, ow, ow, OW!!!" I said, trying to get on my horse. It was SUPER hard, because if THE TREE ROOT HADEN'T TRIPPED ME, I would be fine.

"You need help, Bradley?" Jeannie said.

"No, I'm fine! I just need to... OOF!!" I said, falling off of my horse.

"Bradley, are you ok?!" Jeannie said, leaning over me.

"Maybe. Ow! Ok, I am totally accident and breaking my bones prone. 'Cause I think I either broke either a small fraction of my spine, a rib, or my ankle." I said, trying to get up.

I ended falling into the mud, FACEFIRST.

Sorry it's so short, I am just SOOOOOO hyped up about the fact.. ok, just now, I HEARD THUNDER!!! Anyway, I'm SOOOOOOO hyped aout the fact that I was on vacation!!

Demi~

Just like that, it started to rain. Not sprinkles or droplets, a storm.

"Darn it!" I muttered.

"I brought a cover we could use as a shelter," Sebastion called. "Zander, Macy, Jeannie, Caston! Help me tie it to the branches of these trees!"

I helped Bradley up from the mud and quickly grabbed Callisto's reins before lightning of thunder could scare him away and tied him to a tree a short distance away. In about three minutes the cover was up and we all piled underneath it. It was kind of awkward as there wasn't much space and we were all uncomfortably close. To make matters worse most of us were soaking wet, me included.

"Is everyone all right?" I asked.

"I think so..." Iyara said.

"Except for me of course," Bradley said. "I'm covered in mud and have a broken bone."

The rain continued all through the night until the sun peeked through the clouds early in the morning.
