Castle Solo Write

---

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far far away, there was a castle. A big castle, a mysterious castle, a happy castle, a sad castle, a busy castle. It was all of these things and more. The common folk passed by everyday. Some entered, to voice their concerns, to voice their wishes. Some entered, for unknown purposes, and some never left.

This was a castle. But not just any castle, oh no. It had a name. Florin Castle. And inside this castle, a story unfolded . . .

In regards to the character sheet

For this character sheet, you're allowed to meet any character, as long as it fits the requirements of being able to fit in to a medieval fantasy setting. Your character is allowed to have magic but I might ask if I can tweak it slightly (just go all out, I generally don't care). The password is: omnipotent. Your character can also be anyone that has any relation to the castle! So, your character could be the crown prince! Or a servant. Or a commoner who passes by the castle everyday. Or a witch in the castle dungeons. Anyone

Also, for job/position, if your character is, say, a child, you can just put child, or whatever description fits your character closest.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask here, or on YWP (if you're on it). Also, if you have any suggestions for plot/worldbuilding or any requests, feel free to ask too!

Max 1 character per person.

Accepting 10 people!

---

Yep, a solo write! I know I already have a ski lodge, but it's almost done anyway, and I expect this will take a while to fill up. Please read the whole thing, idk if the information is that important but it's important anyways (maybe, I honestly don't know).

Chapter 2

---

As soon as she got to the marketplace, Sylvia breathed in the fresh, spicy scent of a mixture of fruit, flowers, and meat. The sights and scents of the marketplace never got old.

In one stall there was a merchant hawking various potions, each a bright, bubbly color. Blood trickled down the stones from a butcher’s stall. A florist’s shop was full of brightly colored flowers, all the yellow ones being bought up by people from the castle for the princess’s birthday. Fruit stands, peddler’s carts, caged birds, the market had everything.

Sylvia stopped at one stand to buy an orange to share with Brigit, and also bought a couple of red flowers. She and Brigit had been continuously sending the blacksmith’s apprentice all sorts of flowers over the last month, and writing love poems to go along with it as a joke.

It was always funny to see the guy just look at the flowers with a face of complete confusion. Maybe it was because they signed the poems as ‘The Ghost across the Street’, when the only person who lived across the street from the blacksmith was a nice old grandma.

Sylvia paused to look at a phoenix, at a merchant’s stall selling exotic pets. She would never be able to buy one of those magnificent creatures, but they were pretty to look at nonetheless. This one was in its prime, with glowing ember-red feathers and orange plumes. Hot yellow sparks flew from its tail, as it swirled around its cage in a beautiful dance.

“Sylvia!”

Sylvia turned around, and saw Brigit running toward her without a care in the world, her red braids flying wildly about.

“Hey, Brigit! Do you have a poem for today?” Sylvia asked.

“Hmm? Oh, yeah! I think we should do it early today, it’s the princess’s birthday later after all!” Bridget grinned, linking her arm with Sylvia’s, “You’re so lucky, you get to actually go to the banquet!”

Sylvia laughed. “I mean, yeah, but I’m just serving food though, and helping out with preparations and stuff.”

“But you’ll get to wear a really nice and fancy outfit, and see all the decorations! And you’ll get to see the princess and the king and all the people dancing - I bet it’s going to be awesome!” Bridget continued.

“Yep!” Sylvia agreed.

The two shared the orange as they walked down Lavender Lane, where the blacksmith’s shop was. It was a row of brick buildings, with vines winding down the cracked walls, and flowers blooming on the sides of the buildings, like nature had took over and gave the place a makeover.

Sylvia peered in through the window. The apprentice (she had forgotten his name), was getting yelled at by the burly man who was the blacksmith.

“We should wait until the yelling’s done until we ding-dong-ditch him,” Brigit said, the two of them hiding behind a bush.

“Okay, yeah,” Sylvia said.

Sylvia looked at the poem Bridgit had written. It was cheesy and really bad, but that was the point of it. Roses are red, Violets are blue, I love your hair, cows go moo. Yeah, it was really, really bad.

Once the yelling had stopped, Sylvia took the red flowers and the paper that Brigit handed her, and crept over to the front door. She carefully placed them on the stone steps, rapped on the oak door, and turned to run.

She never got the chance to run.

“So you’re the ghost across the street?!” the apprentice asked in disbelief, holding Sylvia back by her basket.

Caught!

Sylvia turned guiltily to face him. “It was funny, alright!” she said.

The boy burst out laughing. “It was funny! You’re a really bad poet!” he exclaimed, tears in his eyes.

“Hey, I claim credit too!” Brigit grinned, jumping out from behind the bush.

“Well then you’re both really bad poets, but I like your style!” he said, still laughing, “What are your guys’s names?”

“I’m Brigit, and this is Sylvia!” Brigit said, “What about you?”

He gave a mock bow. “Liam, at your service!”

“Ohhhh, that’s your name!” Sylvia exclaimed

Liam nodded excitedly, his brown hair flopping into his eyes. “Well, nice to meet you, but I have to get back to work, sooooo seeya!” he said, and slammed the door shut.

“Well, I guess we can’t do the ding-dong-ditching anymore,” Bridgit sighed, “but it was fun.”

“Yeah, it was!” Sylvia said.

Sylvia looked up at the sky. The sun was right in the middle, and it was nearly noon. “Oh my gosh, I have to get to the castle!” Sylvia exclaimed, “Bye Bridgit!”

“Bye!” Bridgit called, as Sylvia took off running toward the castle.

I can’t be late! Sylvia thought.

She wasn’t late, but it was a close call. She made it to the kitchens just as the butler was counting heads.

“Late?” he asked Sylvia disapprovingly.

“Almost, but no!” Sylvia said, bowing hurriedly.

The butler sniffed, and moved on.

The rest of the day was spent preparing decorations and setting up the large dining hall for the evening’s banquet. Everything was being hurried and rushed, even though this banquet had been in the works for about a month now.

Sylvia wasn’t tall enough to hang decorations, and wasn’t strong enough to move furniture, so luckily, she was ordered to go welcome guests and take their presents to a separate room.

There were all sorts of famous people coming. The High Wizard of Lentil, the President of Featherfall, a prince from a distant country, and so many more!

The gifts were all of the normal sort - Sylvia supposed that it was difficult to be unique when buying luxurious gifts. There were dresses, tiaras, pillows, cats, and even a cuckoo clock that was enchanted to have a real bird call out the time in it. Sylvia was completely tired by the time all the preparations were done.

But the day was yet to be over.

There was still the banquet to attend!

Ooh, I love the second chapter, Raining Rainbows! Keep up the good work! :D

@Sammy Here's Arc! Since you didn't specify clothing, I went with a fancy-ish medieval style suit of armor. I actually had a lot of fun coming up with the design, even though I usually hate drawing armor. I really hope you like it, and tell me if you would like anything changed.

I love the checkerboard pattern!
