I have decided to post chapters of my story on here, because I just really want people to read it and tell me if it is good. Heh. Anyways. the first part/chapter/whatever will just be posted straight on here.

Prologue

Fergus Varrenn hurried to get all the creatures into a shelter before the storm got any worse. His blond hair was plastered to his forehead. The screeches of young snowlings reminded him that their fur wasn’t as waterproof and warm as it would be when they grew up, so he urged some ferroos into their hutches and dashed off.

His wife, Karry, was nearby, ushering some worrenns into their building. She yelled to Fergus, “There are several eggs about to hatch! Tonight is not a good night.”

He called back, “Stay with the worrenns. I’ll get the other animals into safety.”

Karry shoved at a young, stubborn, black-furred worrenn, finally resorting to grabbing its antlers and yanking it into the barn where the other wolf-like creatures were waiting. “No way!” she called back, “You’ll need more than just Min to get the faen and the fairi into their pens.” Resigned to the fact that his wife had ended the argument, Fergus went over to the meepi cage to make sure that all the tiny, flittery creatures were safe inside their glass enclosure. A little ways away, the water-droplet dragons were dancing about, continuously leaping out of the water and feeling the rain they loved on their sensitive whiskers. “Hey,” he heard Karry call to him, “did you remember to get the pennets?”

He cried, “No! I completely forgot!” and rushed off towards the other side of the sanctuary. Karry followed him. They both knew that the pennets freaked out if it rained, so they would take a lot of work. They could hear the pennets shrieking before they even reached the stony caves where they lived. However, the shrieking of pennets was not the only sound piercing the stormy night. Fergus and Karry could hear babies wailing and the sound of a gentle lullaby. Confused, the two tried to find the source of the strange sound. Over by the edge of the forest that ringed the sanctuary, there were two small bundles. A large, blurry shape leaned over them. It seemed to be singing to the little bundles. Karry watched from a distance as Fergus crept closer, trying to discern what the three shapes really were. As she looked on, Fergus stopped just a little ways away from the closest tree. The taller, blurry shape’s beautiful singing petered out and it looked down at the small bundles at its feet. With a quiet buzzing noise, the tall dark shape was gone as if it had never been there. Karry rushed forward to Fergus, anxious to see what he could see. Tiny, dark faces peeped out of the bundles. Silver hair wreathed their faces and the blankets that wrapped them were a dark indigo-purple color. Their eyes were a icy blue-purple color. Karry and Fergus each picked up a baby, instinctively comforting them as they so often comforted orphaned animals. Fergus gave a small exclamation of surprise as a small slip of paper slid out of the bundle he was holding. He read it aloud to Karry, “Take care of them. The one with shorter hair and a dimple when she smiles is Jade. The other child is named Tori. I know that you are probably the best fit people for the job of taking care of my precious daughters…” here Fergus quieted, looking at the note with shock and amazement.

“Is there more?” Karry asked curiously.

He replied, “It says, signed by a Forekk.” Karry stifled a gasp. Forekk were so utterly rare! They were rumored to be just as intelligent, if not more so, than humans. She took another look at the baby in her arms. It had straight, silky hair that nearly came down to its shoulders. The child that Fergus was holding had slightly wavy hair that came only to its ears.

“So,” Karry decided, “The one I’m holding is Tori, and the one you have is Jade.” For the next few hours, Karry was busy in the main house, drying off Tori and Jade and trying to dig out something that would fit them. Fergus was frantically trying, along with Min, to get the pennets, faen, and fairi into shelter. When he was done, he went to the main house to find Karry, but she wasn’t there. The butterflew outside the doorway said that she had gone to the worrenn barn. Fergus remembered what Karry had said about the hatching worrenn eggs and he was suddenly frantic. He dashed across the slippery wet grass, frantically trying to get to the worrenn barn in time for the hatching. He got there and saw that Karry was already there, with Tori and Jade, and two small bracelets in her hand. The bracelets had gold chains and tiny gold key-shaped pendants. Tori and Jade cooed, oblivious to the desperation of the people around them. Two worrenn eggs were preparing to hatch, and all the female worrenns were crowded around the nests. Fergus pushed his way through the crowd of damp, furry bodies until he saw the eggs about to hatch. He pushed the worrenns out of the way and sat at the edge of the nest. Karry came forward and sat next to him. ¨Here,¨ she said, ¨We have to put these on the babies so they can help here at the sanctuary.¨ She handed Jade and one of the bracelets to Fergus. He took the squirming baby and the cool, thin bracelet. ¨Unclasp the bracelet,¨ Karry instructed her husband, ¨and on three we´ll clasp the bracelet onto the girls.¨ Fergus knew that these bracelets were a mechanism that would allow the girls to communicate with all creatures. He had one himself, but it was in the form of a slim watch. ¨One, ¨ Karry started as there was a loud cracking sound from the nest. She paused for a second, then continued, ¨two, ¨ there was another loud cracking noise. This time the crack was visible in both eggs. It looked like the eggs were bonded and would be hatching at the same time. Finally, Karry said, ¨Three!¨ and Fergus clasped the golden bracelet around the tiny, pudgy wrist of Jade. At that exact moment, there was an even louder crack than before. The two worrenn eggs split open just as both bracelets were clasped. One of the tiny, winged, antlered wolves tumbled right into  Fergus´s lap. He looked down at it, shocked. Jade giggled and gripped its antlers, dragging it onto her lap. The newly-hatched worrenn licked the baby Forekk´s face, and Jade giggled again. The other worrenn had stood up and solemnly lay in Tori´s lap. Fergus and Karry looked at each other, astonished. The two bonded worrenns seemed to have bonded to the sweet little Forekks.

I'm glad youlke it! Here's Chapter 1:

Chapter 1

¨Jade!¨ Karry called to the tall Forekk girl. ¨Come here! I need you to try and wrangle this ferroo.¨ ¨Coming, Karry,¨ Jade called back. In the distance she could hear Fergus shouting that the water-drop dragons were ¨out-of-control.¨ Jade rushed up and grabbed a ferroo that was flying dangerously close to the dragon pond. She shoved the ferret-like creature into a small carrier. It gave a shriek and bared its teeth.¨Here,¨ she said, holding the carrier out to Karry, ¨I got ´im.¨ ¨Thanks a lot, Jade!¨ Karry said happily, ¨What would I do without you?¨ Jade smiled at her adoptive mother and ran off to help Fergus. After somehow managing to get a water-drop dragon into its tank, she was drenched. She ran over to the main house, along with her worrenn, Tariyah, to change into some dry clothes. Her twin sister was already in the house, working on the computer with her worrenn, Stomarr, laying on the floor beside her. ¨Hi, Tori,¨ Jade said as she slid across the vinyl floor into her bedroom. ¨Hi, Jade,¨ Tori responded. after she had changed, Jade went over to her sister and watched the computer screen. ¨What are you making?¨ she asked. Words and pictures and colors spread across the screen and Tori was clicking and typing furiously. ¨I´m making a website so that anyone in our group can find information quickly.¨ ¨That is actually a great idea!¨ Jade said enthusiastically, ¨I´m impressed.¨ Laughing, Tori punched her sister lightly on the arm. ¨Come outside, Tori,¨ Jade said, ¨I'm free for, like, an hour.¨ ¨Sure,¨ Tori decided, ¨Stomarr needs some exercise anyway. The sandy-colored worrenn´s thoughts popped into Jade´s brain, Of course I´ll come outside. I want to say hello to Mori anyway. ¨Let's gooooo,¨Jade said impatiently. ¨Alright, alright, just let me put on some boots.¨ ¨It's not even that muddy!¨ Jade complained, ¨Stop stalling.¨ Tariyah, the silver-furred worrenn, said, Stomarr, let's go. Let's go, already! You are so slow. Jade stifled a giggle and yanked Tori out the front door. ¨Let's go play with the water-drop dragons!¨ she cried, ¨They've settled down a bit, and they probably won't get us too wet.¨ ¨Fine, fine,¨ Tori laughed as she hurried to catch up. Stomarr and Tariyah left and headed for the worrenn barn. After they had played with the water-drop dragons a while (and gotten soaked even though Jade said they wouldn't) the girls separated and got back to their work. Tori went back inside to work on the website, and Jade went to help Fergus clean the pennets´ cave. Much later in the day, when the sky was starting to become pink and orange, the girls finished up their work and headed to the main house´s dining room. As they ate supper, they chatted with their adoptive parents about their day. ¨I am about halfway done with the sanctuary website,¨ Tori exclaimed. ¨Girls,¨"Karry said solemnly once Tori had finished talking, ¨We have something to tell you.¨ The girls sat still and straight and waited, anticipating bad news. ¨Some of the creatures are acting nervous and scared for no apparent reason. We´ll need extra help to find out what is agitating them.¨ Both dark-skinned girls nodded. ¨We´ll help, for sure,¨ Jade reassured Karry, ¨We wouldn't let anything happen to these creatures. She patted Tariyah on the neck. The worrenn gave a small, satisfied howl and settled her nose on her paws. Stomarr nudged her, saying, It's rude to act like the food isn't good. Outraged, Tariyah responded, But it is good! I just finished it! Stomarr looked slightly mollified. Fergus looked away, clearly hiding his laughs. The whole motley family quietly ate their dinner, except for Tariyah, who had already finished.
