Chatterbox: Inkwell

Here is

Here is something I came up with + wrote last night after watching Raya and the Last Dragon. Read! Enjoy! Constructive critisism, other such comments, + title suggestions wanted! Guess my identity

Prologue
They were ready. Others might say they  weren't, but they were. They pulled on their boots and gloves, fastened buttons and tied laces, and grabbed their weapons. They weren't allowed to use swords, only sticks, when training, but when they were a real Guardian....
They ran down the cobbled streets of Lindra alone. Nobody wanted to be out in the downpour without a good reason. They had a good reason. They scaled a wall, wanting to go by roof. The rain made things slippery but they soon stood on the round, white-tiled highest roof of the Palace of Guardians. They had to get from there to the Innermost as fast as possible.
They let out a whoop of excitement. A very, very quiet whoop, as the Guardians they saw never whooped. (Except their dad. Their dad....well, he was a special case.) If a Guardian didn't do it, they didn't do it - a head start; they might as well be used to doing things that way, since they were going to be a Guardian.
"A-ha," they whispered as, leaning over the edge of the roof, they located the great Khita's tail and pushed down on it. Feeling a slight rumbling, they turned to see a small section of the roof slide open. They ran over, looked down at a set of stairs spiraling into infinity, and jumped.
To be continued
So, yeah! I'll post more tommorrow or when this is up, whenever I get the chance.

Oooooh I love this! You have great descriptions and are great at building up the suspense to what they're getting ready for, who the Guardians are, and who they themselves are. The little bits and pieces of mystery that you write in really make this come together. If this is only the prologue, then I'd love to see the full extent of your talent in the rest of the story!

More.

"Note to self:" they panted, "When I become chief, install an elevator." They had lost track around the thousandth stair.

The good thing was, the stairs actually had let to the Silent Corridor and not someplace else - like the kitchens. They were quite hungry, but didn't have the time for the detour.

They set off down the Silent Corridor, which was completely round, a little stream running in the center, trickles streaking down the curved sides. There were traps; any decent place had traps. They set one off to see what happened, A net woven from ropes snapped into place. The traps weren't for killing, but for catching. If they were caught that would mean the end for all their dreams.

So they wouldn't get caught.

They stood at the door to the Innermost. They weren't sure how to get it open until they looked closer and thought harder. The door was soon open. They stood at the door to the Innermost. Shoes off, this is sacred ground.

aaaaand ye

The Innermost glowed with the light of the spirit of Khita. They folded their hands and murmured a quick prayer.

Up to that point, it had all been way too easy. They went cautiously up the steps, which were worn from the use of many feet, and saw the danger they had been expecting. Seven masked warriors stood between them and the inner stone, casting shadows with their bodies. Each one held a sword, each one stood tall and straight.

They gulped, feeling starstruck and terrified. "Um...hi?" Maybe, just maybe, they weren't ready, perhaps Tooktook was right. What if-- nonono.

There was no response, so they launched themself at the nearest Guardian, who effortlessly blocked their attack. So they tried again. And lost their weapons. After a couple more rounds of this, an idea dawned in their head as they looked at the inky black water between stones. The water seemed to never end. So they dove.

As their lungs began aching, they ponered the reasonability of their idea. Every Guardian there would be watching the water. How in Heart were they gonna get to the inner stone if they couldn't surface.

So, on the last dregs of oxygen, they got to the darkest corner of the Innermost, dragged themself up on land, and rejoiced in the delights of air. They started making anther plan, listening to the mutterings.
