You sit, alone,

Chatterbox: Inkwell

You sit, alone,

You sit, alone, in a white room. Their are only three things in this room, aside from you of course.

A piano

A calender

A bed

Confused, thirsty, and hungry, you wonder how you got locked into a seemingly inescapable room.

So.... how will you escape?

I use the door.

Princess Juniper smirks, this is too easy! She thinks to herself. I'll just use the door!

She grasps the handle firmly and turns... to find it's stuck. Locked up tight.

You'll need a key to get through this door.

Also, Narrator, have you ever played any interactive fiction (IF) games? This story is awesome (for, like the two things you've said so far XD) and the riddles based on props and your straightforward but also sarcastic tone really reminds me of IF games and in particular, Violet, one of my favorite examples of the genre, so if you aren't familiar with that, I would definitely suggest checking it out.

also, this is awesome.

I want to get out. I need to get out. But first I need to sleep. I am so tired, so crushingly tired. I sink into the bed, wondering why I am so tire......

When open my eyes I am in a field. My mother stands before me, her usually auborn hair a sickly pink. I don't like her hair, but mother was always one for drastic changes*. WAKE UP. It is not my mothers voice, but it is coming from her mouth. WAKE UP.

*My mom in real life actually does change her hair frequently, cuz she's a performance artist. Her natural hair color is auborn, but she usually isn't in her natural hair color.

I've never heard of an interactive fiction game, but I have read choose your own adventure stories. I will check it or though, I just haven't gotten the time.

@Star Princess, this isn't really a roleplay. What I want is people telling me what they will do, i.e sleep/open the door/piano keys, depending on the situation. I will write out the results of what you've chosen. Kinda like a choose your own adventure story, but I'm still in the middle of writing it.

Also, our internet is out so I won't be able to continue the story till it gets back! Please be patient. In the meantime you can try and guess who I am!

I'll try opening the window.

submitted by Neverseen , Trapped In the White Room
(June 20, 2021 - 1:59 pm)

"Try the window."

Morning blinks and looks around, to see Neverseen standing in the middle of the white, windowless room.

"Um...what window?" Morning asks.

Neverseen shakes her head, "the wind--oh"

"I was thinking... the piano keys."

Neverseen nods and they walk over to the piano together.

The piano is extremly old, with peeling golden paint and rotting legs. The keys are stained yellow and are cracked, revealing the surprisinly clean clay that makes up the keys. They open up the piano and look inside.

Nothing but old, frayed strings and dusty pummles.

However, when Morning rests her hands on the keys they're surprised to hear music coming from the old thing.

"Well... what now?" Neverseen asks.

Morning shrugs and starts hitting all the keys, each one lets out an extremly out of tune note, until they reach middle C.

This key only lets out a hollow thump, which causes the questers eyes to open wide. They wiggle the key and lift it up. Turing it over reveals an old silver key, worked with little stars, taped on the inside.

"Do you think it'll work?" Neverseen asks.

"Only one way to find out!"

They reach the white door and run their fingers over it, looking for a hidden key hole. The door knob seems to have disapeared while they were busy.

Neverseen found the tiny hole, barely large enough to be felt by the fingertips. Only by squinting can they make out the sligh discoloration that marks the hole.

Neverseen puts the key in and twists until they hear a click.

They push open the door to find... a short white hallway. And at the far end a surprisingly green, leafy door, which was gaurded by a small man in a large pointed red hat.

He rubs his big, round nose and wraps the tip of his white beard around his finger.

"Well?" he asks in a rough voice.

"...well what?" the questers ask, confused.

The little man lifts up one bushy eyebrow and says, "I need payment if you want to get beyond this door."

"We don't have any money." Morning says.

"I don't need money." he growls. "Find me some food and a drink."

With nothing in the hallway, the questers once again turn into the white room. There must be something in here that will help!

New quest: A Strange Payment

(June 20, 2021 - 3:04 pm)

Hmm. This sure is a puzzle. This man seems suspiciously to me like a gnome but that might just be me... It doesn't seem like we've made much contact with the bed or calendar yet. Maybe we can check under the bed, under the mattress and pillow (if there is one) of the bed, behind the calendar, and in the pages of the calendar, for clues/food/beverages? Also, is it okay if I just jump in like this? I know the story's already going.

The calendar is full of dates right? So just use the calendar for dates to give him food.

submitted by Joan B. of Arc, age 19, Camelot
(June 20, 2021 - 7:11 pm)

Yes, like Joan said, dates from the calendar for food, and we can get water from the springs in the bed.

This is so. Good. I love it.

Periwinkle crossed her arms as she stood in the middle of the room. The door was unlocked, but it only led to another locked door.

With nothing else to do, and the piano alread searched, Periwinkle turned to the calender.

It was old and frayed at the edges, with yellowing pages that were curling up on the edges. The pictures were of cats, each with a funny hat on. The month was in Januaray of 1666, but a search through all the months led to nothing. It was a normal, if old, calender. Even looking on the back led to nothing.

So, Periwinkle turned to the sheetless bed and looked over at it. It had a silver, metal frame, which was slowly turning red from rust. Its once clean mattress was now gray from dirt and had splotches of strange, brown stains on it. Only a bed, no pillow at all. Of course, searching the bed yeilded no results, nothing underneath the mattress or bed!

It was Joan who figured out how to find the food.

"The dates!" she shouted, surprising poor Periwinkle. "The dates from the calender."

Indeed, when she walked over to the calender and shook it, a pile of dates fell from the pages. It didn't seem to stop and soon Joan found herself up to her knees in sticky, slightly warm, dates.

"That works, yes yes yes. Now we can use the spring in the bed!" Morning exclaimed with a smile.

And when they turned to the bed, it was no longer a bed, but rather a small spring bubbling up from the floor. Morning found she had a bottle in her hands and quickly filled it up with the cool water.

"We found your food and water." Morning said

The little man looked up at the questers and noticed the dates and water they were holding out for him.

"You couldn't even find some meat..." he grumbled as he took the dates and water. "Very well, you may enter."

He stepped aside and the door slowly opened up...

You open the green door and find yourself faced by a wall of darkness. Shivering, slightly scared, you walk through.

You find yourself in a green room, with patterns and designs on the walls that hint to tall trees and lush bushes. The ground feels slightly soft, springy even, and as you walk to the middle of the room you bounce slightly with each step.

The thing that caught your attention is a scarecrow, but this scarecrow was missing its head. Held in its hands is a sign, that reads:

Please complete me! I am in need of a head.

You squint your eyes and shrug, nothing about this makes sense. You remember faintly a white room and a small man... but the memories fade away like frost in the morning sun.

Even the door you came through is gone, hidden away in the almost forest.

However, in the corner, is a small garden. It only contains three things, which are listed on a small sign outside the fence.

Potatoes

Cabbage

Corn

How will you escape this room?

Another riddle! Yay!

I might be mixing up my plant terminology, but a head of cabbage is a thing, right? That would work for the scarecrow.
