Chatterbox: Inkwell

Superhero School RP!

Yes yes I know I technically left but I did say I would still do roleplays occasionally. And I really miss superhero roleplays! So here.

Headmistress Alma Bartley (aka, Mimic), a gifted superhero with the ability to mimic abilities, had decided to finally start a school for young supers. The school, Academy For Gifted Inividuals, was a highschool. Students would each get a private dorm and would get a regular highschool education, in addition to receiving special training to become a powerful superhero.

She tried not to worry about the strange disappearances of young children all across the world. She was sure these young supers would all be safe. After all, she was the most powerful person in the world. She could protect them.

RULES:

  1. Three charries per person.

  2. The RP will begin once there’s at least five participants (me included), but anyone can still join after that point.

  3. Charries must be between 14 and 18 years of age, as you can only be a student. However, you can be a villainous student infiltrating the school.

  4. No OP charries--if I see a charrie with too many powers, or powers too strong, I will ask for their powers to be changed.

Name: Charlotte Barrow

Superhero Name (Optional): Stormchaser

Age, Grade: 17, senior

Gender, Pronouns: Female, she/her

Alliance (Villain, Hero, or Neutral): Hero

Powers: Weather, she can summon and control storms. Rain, wind, and even thunderstorms are pretty manageable for her, but the bigger the storm the more draining it is on her powers. A hurricane or a tornado would almost completely wipe her out. She can also summon lightning during thunderstorms, but she has trouble aiming them, so she usually doesn’t.

Other Skills: Smart, athletic (she’s a runner), loyal, socially adept.

Weaknesses: She can be impulsive and jump to conclusions quickly, and though she likes to give the benefit of the doubt at first, if someone betrays her she doesn’t tend to give second chances- she won’t trust them from that point forward.

Personality: Outgoing, friendly, loves to make new friends (especially people younger than her, she likes to be an older sister to everyone), she has a very strong belief in heroes and their cause, and will never hesitate to fight for what’s right.

Appearance: Short dirty-blonde hair, fair skin, steel blue eyes, on the taller side. She usually wears leggings or jeans along with a t-shirt, usually in bright colors. She likes to wear lots of jewelry as well- rings, necklaces, earrings, and a nose stud.

Backstory: Charlotte’s mom is a superhero, but her dad isn’t, and neither is her little sister. Despite this, her family is very proud of her and supports her decision to attend the Academy. Charlotte’s mom is mainly retired now, but she grew up listening to the stories, and she always knew she wanted to be a hero.

Other: Open to shipping, with girls and enbies

Name: Dell March

Superhero Name (Optional): None

Age, Grade: 15, Sophomore

Gender, Pronouns: Nonbinary, they/them

Alliance (Villain, Hero, or Neutral): Neutral, could be swayed to either side

Powers: Telekinesis, they can move objects with their mind. It takes a fair amount of concentration, and the larger/heavier the object (or person) they’re trying to move, the more draining it is.

Other Skills: Acting, fairly smart

Weaknesses: Clumsy, gets distracted often, easily swayed.

Personality: Awkward and clumsy, but still very earnest and enthusiastic about everything they do, no matter how bad at it they are. They have no filter and will talk a mile a minute when you let them, because they’re used to being interrupted. They aren’t great at making friends, but they try. They tend to get nervous around authority figures. They’re very open-minded and easy to convince, which can also make them easy to manipulate.

Appearance: Brown hair with streaks of green in a pixie cut, brown eyes, fair skin, light freckles, pretty short. They usually wear black jeans, a denim jacket, and t-shirts with some kind of pop culture reference.

Backstory: Dell comes from an old family of powerful and proficient superheroes, and they’re somewhat of the black sheep. They’ve always struggled with their abilities (concentration is a big part of telekinesis, and they’re easily distracted), and can’t seem to improve no matter how hard they try. Their parents look down on them because of their lack of skill, and sent them to the Academy hoping that they would learn something and not embarrass the family. Dell has two older siblings, both of whom are skilled heroes.

Other: Open to shipping with anyone! @Silver Crystal, would you want to ship Dell and Emerson? I think that would be a fun dynamic.

I sat in front of the magestic building, which I could only assume was the school. It looked like we were going to be learning how to properly fold a napkin instead. Everything was so proper and fancy.

I don't recognize anyone but I keep getting the feeling that I've seen them all before. Stupid memory loss. Everyone is making small talk or sticking to their groups and I stand by myself. The crowd quiets and I can see a woman with long braids and dark skin at the gates of the academy. She looks very regal and serious.

"Welcome to the Academy for Gifted Individuals!" She breaks into a soft smile, "I hope you'll enjoy your time and training here. Please follow me and the other staff members inside."

The grades split and the juniors are lead toward the northern wing of the castle. While I'm walking I spot a boy with their hair in a ponytail who looks rather attractive if I do say so. I kept staring at him for a bit until someone accidentally bumped into me and I fell over,

"Oh! I'm so sorry, my bad!" I turn to see...

~~~~~~~
Leaving it open for anyone to jump on in there! Well anyone who has a character that's a junior.
Raven blushed, staring up at the much taller student. "Sorry," they mumbled. "I'm a bit lost. Do you know where the ninth-grade wing is?"
Oh.  My gosh.  I LOVE ROLEPLAYS!!!!! I met some of my best best friends roleplaying.
Name: Tsuki Sorashi (空氏・月)
Superhero Name (Optional): n/a
Age, Grade: First year, 14
Gender, Pronouns: she/her
Alliance (Villain, Hero, or Neutral): Hero
Powers: She's part-wolf, part-human.
Other Skills: She's remarkably intuitive and empathetic.
Weaknesses: Her athletic ability is quite weak for a part wolf.
Personality: She appears to be mysterious, but that's only because she's so soft-spoken.
Appearance: Dark brown hair mixed with lighter sand-colored strands. When it starts growing its shining silver, but as it grows to a certain length it turns brown.  Her soft wolf ears are silver as well and her eyes are a gentle amber.  Her canine teeth are exceptionally sharp.  She's got a moon-colored tail with small black spots at the base.  She's slightly short for her age.
Backstory: Tsuki comes from the Sorashi pack in Japan, which consists of part-wolves and full wolves.  She has three siblings; Hoshi, Ame and Mizu.  The pack decided to send Tsuki to this school because of her delayed athletic ability.  In most cases, Tsuki would just become the omega of the pups, but Mizu is even less talented than she and it'd do the pack no good to have two young wolves that could not hunt or fight. Yoru, the pups' mother and the alpha female of the part-wolves, made the descision to send Tsuki to this school.
Other:Tsuki idolizes her sister Ame and hopes to be as powerful as Ame one day.  Sometimes she has very strange dreams.
Backstory: She's part of a cult called Light Keepers. She's a third rank.
(By the way: Tsuki Sora Luna Mizuko)
I take a deep, calming breath and look at the number on the door. 415- that's my assigned dorm. Cautiously, I open the door. The room is empty; I must've gotten here first.  I drop my small suitcase on the top bunk and cradle a glowing citrine crystal in my arms. I hear the door open and I hastily stuff it under the covers as another first year enters. [insert someone else's character here]
Can I just- start writing from Ellie's perspective? If so:
I find room 415, my dorm. I ease the door open and see another first year, who appears to have just hidden something under her covers. I tell her so, but I don't question it. Everyone has secrets. I introduce myself, and it shows how much I am changing my views when I decide to tell her I am neutral. She seems like she wouldn't make fun of me because of it, so I show her my, quite bad, flying ability. Then I ask her what her powers are.
Katerina~~
The seniors are by far the smallest grade here, which I personally prefer. Not that I dislike other people--it’s just easier to learn who you can trust when you’ve got less people to worry about. I don’t recognize anyone in this grade-- I guess the Kaur kid isn’t a senior. Emil’s grade looked huge. I wonder how he’s doing.
I’m the first to reach my dorm--57. There’s only one bed, but there’s space for a second--I guess I was the one left out. That’s probably for the best. A private dorm is much safer than a shared dorm.
The dorm is pretty small, but cozy. There’s a writing desk and a window, and a twin-size bed with plain white sheets. The walls are cream colored and the floor is wooden. I wonder if we’re allowed to buy a carpet for it or not. The wardrobe on the far wall is large enough to fit all my belongings inside. It’s the same color as the wooden desk.
I toss my bags in the wardrobe and look out the window. The seniors are on the top floor, and I have a great view of the school yard, as well as the small town in the distance. I hope we can visit the town--I’d hate to stay trapped in the school all the time.
There are voices in the hallway, but they soon vanish. I assume it must have been other kids getting to their new dorms. I consider eavesdropping but decide against it, there’s no need for me to become the untrustworthy one. We’ll have to go down for dinner soon--I hope nothing too awful happens there.
After a few more moments I decide to show up to the dining hall early. There’s nothing for me to do in my dorm, and I figure it would be smart to explore the school a little more. I wander around the halls for a bit, checking the map we were given every so often. The only other people I encounter are teachers, who are too busy preparing for tomorrow’s classes to pay me any attention.
I finally reach the dining hall. There’s only a couple other kids there--Emil is not amongst them. I find a table to sit at and decide to read something while I wait for dinner to start. A moment later, someone sits down next to me.
Charlotte~
I follow the Headmistress and the other students through the gates, and we soon split off into our separate grades. There seem to be quite a lot of juniors. I glance around at the other seniors, not seeing anyone I recognize- not that I expected to, but you never know.
After walking for a few minutes, we reach the wing of senior dorms, and the teacher leading us calls out our names and room numbers. When I hear my name, I grab my bag and walk into dorm 53, grinning at the other students before closing the door.
The room isn't anything special, but it's nice. It could probably fit two students, but there really aren't that many of us, and I'm pretty sure the brochure said we'd all get private dorms. Honestly, I'd have probably liked a roommate, but the extra space will be nice too. I drop my bag on the bed and open it, deciding to get started unpacking since I don't have much else to do. Classes don't start until tomorrow.
The first thing I see in my bag is a framed picture- I'd stuck it in there last minute, as I was running out the door. It's a photo of my family, all of us standing together in our backyard, smiling at the camera. Ally, my little sister, is missing several teeth. I place the frame on the desk by the window, then return to my bag. It's mainly clothes, which I throw into the wooden wardrobe without bothering to fold them or hang them up. I'll do that later. Maybe.
Having lost interest in packing, I stand in the center of the room for a minute, hands on my hips, deciding what my next course of action should be. Then I turn and leave the room, suddenly hungry. I take the map with me, and after a few minutes I'm able to figure out where to go.
The dining room is almost empty, so I guess I'm earlier than I thought. I spot a girl that I recognize from the senior sitting alone at a table, and walk over to take the seat next to her.
She looks up, and I smile brightly. "Hi! I'm Charlotte Barrow. We're in the same grade."
The girl doesn't quite smile in response, but she doesn't look unfriendly. "Katerina Alinsky."
I purse my lips. "Alinsky, I feel like I know that name... Oh! Your family does dead-people stuff, right?"
"'Dead-people stuff'?" she repeats, looking affronted. "I come from a long line of psychics and mediums. We do not refer to it as 'dead-people stuff'."
"Whatever floats your boat!" I say cheerfully.
"And what might your power be?"
"Weather! Rain and storms and all that. What kind of classes do you think we'll have tomorrow?" I pause. "And when do you think we get to eat?"
Whoa!
The dining hall is full of kids all shapes and sizes, all ages and abilities.  I scan the room for a place to sit- there! The nearest seat was next to a tall girl with dark hair, a couple of years older than I am, by the looks of it.  I walk over, fingering the necklaces I'm wearing- one chain with three gold rings on it, and one long, dangly beaded cord with decorated with hand-carved clouds.  I sit down beside the student and start to eat my taco.  I'm halfway through before I remember, I should say hello.
"Hi."
Katerina Alinksy~~
I try not to be too offended by Charlotte's ignorance of the finer aspects of mediumship and psychic abilities--she seems relatively kind, even if she's a bit… blunt.
"Classes? I'd imagine it'll mostly be more orientation tomorrow. What classes did you sign up for?" Charlotte shows me her schedule and I pull out mine. I have music theory, studio art, calculus, astronomy, and honors English, as well as a strange "training" class. Charlotte seems to also have the training class, but I think everyone in the school does. "As far as eating… I think we can now."
Charlotte and I decide to stick together for the rest of lunch. I find there's a wide array of vegetarian options, which is great for me. I don't mind meat, but being on a vegetarian diet makes me more mindful of what I eat.
We sit back down at our table, and a couple minutes later another girl approaches us. She looks to be younger than even my brother--a first year, I think. "Hi."
"Hi!" Charlotte immediately says. "Who are you? I'm Charlotte Barrow!"
"Um, Sora Luna Everstream… Nice to meet you." She pushes a strand of her brown hair, which is filled with flowers, out of her face and sits down next to me.
"I'm Katerina Alinsky. That's an interesting necklace."
"Oh, thank you." Sora Luna seems nice--she has a faint smile on her face, and her tone is kind.
"Sooo, Sora, what classes do you have?" Charlotte is already pulling out her schedule again. I figure it'd be best to show them mine, too.
I pull out my schedule.  "Lets see... astronomy, Japanese, connecting w/animals, studio art, and training..." I smile, excited that Katerina and I have three of the same classes.  Both girls seem very interesting.  Katerina seems a bit more reserved, but she's also been super nice to me thus far.  Charlotte seems to be bubbling over with excitement that I can't help but share.
