Wings of Fire

Wings of Fire

Wings of Fire Roleplay!!

Alright, so in this roleplay the canon characters do not and have not existed.  The wall of weird IceWing aristocracy rankings was never broken. There is no decades-long rivalry between any tribes (y'know, besides the usual "my tribe is better" junk.)  The Lost Continent is common knowledge. SilkWings are still servants of HiveWings, but there is no mind control. LeafWings' existence is not a secret and they live in a secluded forest. There is a school just like Jade Mountain, Unity Academy, but it exists on an island between the two continents and takes tribes from both continents. Scavengers are treated as they were before book 14 or Dragonslayer, in fact of even less importance because of the lack of the War of SandWing Succession.  They are of little consequence to this story.

Other than that the world is the same.

There can only be one Animus dragon for each tribe- it's first come, first serve (and only for Pantalan dragons.)  Only one blood-red egg MudWing and only one firey-scales SkyWing.  One character can be a hybrid for each roleplayer.  Four leafspeakers, four flamesilks.

There are five winglets in the school, just like Jade Mountain: Ruby, Topaz, Emerald, Sapphire, and Amethyst, each consisting of ten dragons.  You do not have to be a student.

All righty then!

My head spins, and I stumble back. She IS a mindreader! My first reaction is shock; then pride: I’d guessed it earlier!

Ender is staring at the beautiful dreamvisitor. It glows blue, smooth and bright. Unconsciously, I reach out my talon to touch it; then jerk back, muttering, “Sorry.”

I stare at Ender in awe. Is she listening to my thoughts right now?

“Yes,” she says. “But I can close my mind. By the way, you are almost entirely good.” She sniffs a bit while a panic. Almost? I’m a little bit bad?

“Don’t be ridiculous,” she says. “For every dragon in the world, there’s a reason, somewhere, that could make them turn evil. For you, though, I think it would take a lot.”

She covers the dreamvisitor again carefully. I can see in her eyes that it takes a lot for her to trust someone. I wonder why she chose me.

Wrapping my tail around my talons, I ask, “Are you still listening to my thoughts?”

She shakes her head absently.

I inwardly make it my mission to befriend this dragon. It may take a while, but I don’t want her to be alone.

I pick up my ink bottle and trace my claw over its smooth glass. Then I close my eyes.

“We should get back to class,” says Ender reluctantly, her claw laid protectively over the moss. I nod and turn, but at the last minute step back to her.

“Thank you for telling me.”

Her eyes widen in surprise. Maybe she’s not used to people being nice.

Ebony~

I silently curse myself.  Flamingo, of all dragons, found me out.  Just my luck.  But he doesn't seem angry, just... curious? "What do you want prophecies for?" he asks, looking down at the scrolls scattered across the floor.

"That's none of your business," I hiss.

They take a step back. "Well, you're certianly touchy.  I'll leave you alone." Flamingo leaves the cave and I sigh in relief.  They didn't seem bothered by the fact that I've broken at least two school rules.  Maybe I misjuged them.

Flamingo stays in the library but I head back to our dorm, discouraged.  Nothing has gone my way since I arrived at this school, and I'm starting to think it never will.  I sit down on my bed and curl my tail around me protctively, trying to hold back feelings of lonliness and homesickness.  Feeling sorry for myself isn't worth it.  Maybe the visions will let me sleep tonight, I think and close my eyes.

And that's when they come.  Flashes of heat, screams, and thundering wingbeats echo in my ears.  Around me there is fire, burning the edges of my dream.  The air is thick with smoke.  Sillouettes of dragons are lit across the sky, every single one locked in deadly combat.  Flames lick my wings and suddenly I am falling, burning and falling.  There is no hope, no light.  Only destruction.

I wake with a start, gasping for breath.  Everything is gone, replaced by the now-familiar cave.  Morning sunlight shines across the walls.  The silence is a huge relief.  I've never had a dream like that before, and I can't shake it as I head to class.  It was so intense, so... real.

History class is with both the Amethyst and Topaz winglets, so I'm curious to see what my classmates are like.  As I walk in the teacher, a strict-looking Sandwing, frowns. "You're late," he says matter-of-factly.

I find the last open seat, which is next to a small, colorful Rainwing.  She smiles at me as I sit down.  The teacher begins lecturing about the Scorching, but I let my mind wander as I observe the class.  I recognize Starless and Flamingo, as well as the Leaf-Seawing I encountered last night.  There are also a few Pantalan dragons.  One of them is whispering to a black dragon with white scales around her ankle who catches my eye.

--

Sorry if the timing of this is a bit weird. I thought I should catch up.  If any of you have prophecy lines let me know, I can't wait to see where this goes!

The class drones on and on and ON. I am exhausted by the time lunch comes around; I don’t even want to eat. I just drag myself back to my sleeping cave and read until the next class.

The scrolls are fascinating, especially the one about animi. Unlike many scrolls I’ve seen, it does not refer to us as uncontrolled killing machines.

Finally it’s time for the next class. On the way, I bump into Astraea. She’s holding a scroll with a faraway look on her face; she must be listening to thoughts. I wave.

“Hello,” she says dreamily.

“Hey.” I pick absently at a bit of morning glory. I’m thinking about wars. It’s been a while since Pyyrhia had any. I hope we never have another one….

My head is still spinning as I wander into the prey center. One of the teachers, Maple, is handing out fruit to the RainWings and SilkWings, and I get in line, my mind drifting. I watch Ender talking to another NightWing and wonder who was the white dragon the SeaWing-LeafWing had been thinking about. Others must have Dreamvisitors, but who?

I make it my mission to find out. After eating a few mangos, I seek out Anthophora. He’s chewing thoughtfully, staring upwards. “What’s up?” I ask him.

“I saw a tunnel in the history cave,” he explains. “I want to go back and explore it tonight. Do you want to come?”

“Sure,” I said, an idea already formulating in my mind. We talk for a while more, then Anthophora leaves for the library, and I approach Ender.

“Hi,” I say hesitantly. She looks up in surprise, her face unreadable. “Me and Anthophora are going to explore a tunnel tonight. I was wondering if you wanted to come?”

Alllll righty, if any of your characters are untrustworthy, at least at the start, we should put a warning about them in the prophecy.  Starless is untrustworthy (but I'm thinking about making him turn around in the end.)  Dreamvisitors should be a part of the prophecy too, and perhaps since Prism and the character who contacted Seaweed are similar, they could be cousins or something?  I still have no idea who to make the character or why she visited Seaweed, but that should have something to do with it.  And we need a motive for the queens to start a war...

We should put a warning about Jasper in the prophecy. He's not evil, but if someone decided to use him, he could be.

As for the motivation...I don't know. I really have no idea! My only thought is it could be that they aren't really happy about all the hybrids, but that's a terrible idea, especially the way I explained it.

I have an idea. Why don't we have any participants who want to do so write their version of the prophecy? then Tsuki can judge. We should make a due date for people to get their prophecies in, tho.

Ohhh, that's really smart Shining Star!

Due date should be... December 1?
