Auzrivlia RP

AUZRIVLIA: ROLE PLAY

Well,

I am starting a role-play, finally!

Auzrivlia is a story I've been working on for some time, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and it's a wee bit too similiar to some of my other stories, so I figure I'll put it out on the CB and see what happens. No-one has to join, I just figured I'd try it out...

Okay then!

Auzrivlia is a city made of gems and enclosed by a magical mountain range, so no-one can get in. Long ago it was founded by two people, Gemani and Orion (yes, named after the constellations). Gemani accidentally woke an ancient spell which endowed all her descendents with magical powers, while Orion's descendants remained normal.

Back then, Auzrivlia was a place of welcome, with merchants and travelers coming in and out. But then an evil lord rose to power, overthrew the leaders, and closed Auzrivlia's borders. His descendants rule Auzrivlia today and use its power to take other countries.

Here are the descendants' possibe powers, but your character can be normal, too.

Manipulator--you can make anyone do what you want, but it takes a serious physical toll.

(Note: with all these elemental powers, you can semi-control the element--but only if it wants to listen.)

Watercurver--you can speak to water.

Firecurver--you can speak to fire.

Windcurver--you can speak to wind (although in this case it's called singing with the wind).

Earthcurver--you can speak to the earth, plants and stones especially.

Ethercurver--you can speak to the matter of the universe.

Animspeaker--you can speak to animals.

Emoreader--you can read emotions.

Telewave--you can hear thoughts.

Telekenetic--you can move things with your mind.

Futureseer--you can see the future.

Mage: you have all these powers.

Ok, that's it, but it's worth noting that, thought the characters don't know it yet, we should keep in mind that the rulers are lying and there is a way for "normal" people to have powers. I'm not actually sure what that way is yet. And mages are mysteriously vanishing…

One last thing: no-one knows if they have a power or not until they turn 13.

Please:

Be respectful of others in this roleplay.

Don't role-play overly with other people's characters, no more than is necessary for the story.

But, also, introduce twists! Fun things! Unexpected turns! Secrets! Keep things moving forward!

Of course, no-one has to join. But, as I said, this is just a fun experiment on my part!

Ok. Charrie sheet! You can be as detailed or brief as you like.

Alright, as mentioned, this roleplay will begin on the 16th of October, assuming, of course, that my family doesn’t have any plans for then! We can also push it back to the 19th depending on how many people join—if any….:) :| ;-

I am also open to suggestions for improvement of RP quality.

Bye!

The bridges were crawling with students. On one side, all the Gifted. On the other, all the non-gifted (like me).

I waved Haley over. This wass a change from our old school, which was grimy; this one looks like the Taj Mahal. ((I’ll post my drawing of the school later. This is me, btw—Shining Star. I’ll put my own things in double parentheses.))

Well, sorta.

“It’s big, isn’t it?” Haley squeaked. “I feel out of place.”

“Don’t worry, I’m sure this side is much less nice than the other,” I said.

She looked around furtively. “Shh! What if someone hears you?”

I fell silent. I may not agree with the separations in our world, but even I’m not stupid enough to voice how I feel.

We proceeded in anxious silence until we reach the doors. Two soldiers were posted there, and I had to show my ID bracelet, which states my name, birthday, power-status, etc. (The latter one, sadly, remains on void.)

Sighing, I turned and stepped through the arching doorways. I couldn’t help feeling, as the big white doors slam shut behind me, that I’m walking into a prison.

*

Class was as boring as ever.

And that was BORING.

Our teacher, a balding man who wore spectacles, droned on and on about the creation of Auzrivlia. Seriously, he was worse than Stephanie!

By the time lunch came around, I was exhausted. I slumped to the table, too tired to force myself to eat the spinach lasagna (which would taste horrid. It always did). But the sight of a little greenish vial sitting by my plate jolted me to awareness.

Right on cue, the cool female robot voice spoke out of the loudspeaker. “Children, you will find a vial of potion at each of your plates. You are required to drink this mixture to detect if any of you have manifested as a mage. This is not a request. This is mandatory.” It then went on to repeat the requirement.

I felt a little sick as I leaned over to whisper to Haley, “What’s a mage?”

Her eyes were wide. “Someone with all the talents! I didn’t think there were any left.”

“Left?”

“They disappear. Every mage ever recorded has mysteriously disappeared.”

“But…this is the untalented wing.”

“They’re probably trying to make sure we don’t try and hide the talent. What I wouldn’t give to be a mage!”

I shivered. “Uh, what about the disappearing part?”

“Eh. If you were a mage, you could totally escape.”

I glanced back at my potion. “Well, I guess I have to drink it.”

She smirked. “Here’s hoping I’ll get the talent!”

We clinked our vials together, laughed, and tipped the potion into our mouths.

*

At first it was an itch.

Just a little itch.

Then it was a pulse.

Then it was a pain.

I tried not to squirm, wondering if this sweater was giving me a rash. It had been half an hour or so since I’d drank the little potion, and I’d just about given up on anything happening.

Should’ve known better.

I sighed, and that was when I heard it.

Poor Audrun, he’s probably sad he didn’t get the power.

I snapped upright in my chair. It was Haley’s voice, but different somehow. “What did you say?”

She looked at me in surprise. “Huh?”

I sank back down in my chair. I was hearing things.

Odd, came her voice again. I didn’t say anything. What did Audrun hear?

Why was she speaking to me a Audrun instead of you? “I’m right here,” I said impatiently.

“Um, what?” she said, staring at me.

Puzzlement washed through me, along with a touch of fear. But something was different about this emotion. It felt like it was coming from outside of me.

I shook off the weird feelings and glanced ruefully at the trash can. I was tired and didn’t really want to walk all the way over there to dump my tray in. I decided to put it off a little longer, and that was when the tray floated right past my eyes and dumped itself into the trash can.

I sat up straight and swallowed my yelp as the entire cafeteria went silent.

The water twitched in my glass.

The itch in my hand became unbearable.

The water in the glass splashed out and across my hand.

I leaped to my feet. Something weird was going on. I had to get out of here.

“Um, be right back,” I muttered to Haley, and slowly, nonchalantly, I stood up and strolled towards the door.

As soon as I was outside, I leaned against the doorway and tried to ignore the fact that thoughts were rushing through my head, thoughts that weren’t my own; that foreign emotions—fear, sorrow, joy—were rushing through my heart; that a vine had just grown out of the floor and was twining around my hand.

But I couldn’t.

And just then, just when things couldn’t get worse, they did.

If you read my other posts, you’ll see that I have a dreadful reputation, for cliffhangers. You can now start roleplaying.

Thank you everybody for the characters! Have fun!

The school, it looks so... regal!

I felt like royalty, walking into the academy, though everyone around me didn't feel the same.  I caught anxiety coming from the majority of the crowd, a good amount of prejudice, some pride, a bit of arrogance, and an interesting calaustrophobic feeling.  I grin in spite of myself.  My birthday had been just a few days prior, and I had been thrilled to discover I was an emoreader.  Somehow, I'd always known I'd be an emoreader, watercurver, telewave or non-gifted.  I was somehow glad I wasn't a telewave, though; I didn't know if I'd be able to handle everyone's thoughts and secrets and problems.  What if people hated me for it, too?

I shook my head to clear it and entered the building.  My first class was history.  I sat at my elegantly carved desk and waited for the excitement to begin.

Except it didn't.

((Resists the urge to say "three moons,")) it was boring! We learned about the history of Auzrivlia.  Like we had every year since first grade.  Honestly!  With a building of such majesty, couldn't they've designed a curriculum that matched?

It was cut short though, here in the gifted wing, and we filled out a survey on our powers and what we needed to learn from them.  The bell rang and we filed toward lunch.  I sat down to eat when I noticed a vial of some strange liquid by my seat.  That's when the announcement came over the loudspeakers.

My heart began beating faster, and I sensed similar responses from those around me.  Lots of surprise, some excitement, but mostly fear.  Though the speaker called it a potion, it looked more like poison to me.  I already new my power!  No way I needed to risk my life like this. I hid the vial in my pack.

Lunch lasted a lot longer than it had at my old school.  I ate my lunch contentedly, then waited for the bell to ring.  It didn't, so I took out my sketchbook.  I drew a quick sketch of a wolf-girl and put it away, not sure how to continue.

The little sense in my brain, then, picked up shock.  A good amount of shock, though faint.  I hadn't yet learned to gauge the distance of my powers, but the way this resonated in my brain - strong, powerful, and  plenty, yet it was sort of quiet - I knew this wasn't in the rooms nearest to me, or even in this half of the school.  I tipped my head, waiting for more detail.

The surprise was astounding, at least a hundred minds wondering who? what? where? how? why?  and listening closer, I found what was one or two threads of panic. Then the panic started moving, farther away so I couldn't hear it anymore.  I felt the rest of the loud minds go from pure shock to lots of individual things such as indignance, jealousy, puzzlement, excitement, and sudden realization.  From the rapid way the minds were swaying and jumping and fizzing, I guessed a whole room had bursed into conversation.  This was one of the instances I wished I did have telewave.  It was so confusing!  What had happened?  Did it have to do with the poison?

I began to panic as well.  Had somebody died?

I caught a girl at the next table over looking at me in the most annoying way and my skin prickled. I sensed superiority and the definite sense of how could you think that, stupid?  I guessed she was a telewave and my heart jumped into my throat.  I did not want my thoughts broadcasted to- to- to like ten percent of the people in this room!  The strange girl smirked at me and I attempted to put up a mental barrier.

Pancake, I think Shining Star said your character can't be above 16, so you might have to bump down the age a year.

Every single
time I walked into school I thought, this place is huge. I
already knew that, since I had been going here for a long time! That's what
annoyed me so much about this thought! I HAD THOUGHT IT SO MANY TIMES! Luckily,
the bell rang, so I stopped thinking about it. Class was boring, but I manged to stay awake, unlike some people.

When it was lunchtime, I sat down, tuned out everything else, and ate my lunch. Then I walked outside for a bit before returning to class. I was not late luckily, but I did notice that some kids were missing from class. Maybe they cut class. That always happens every now and then.

||STEPHANIE||

I stepped out of the classroom and shut the door behind me. To my shock, Audrun is standing in the hallway, with a vine twining around his hand.

A vine that shouldn’t have been there.

“AUDRUN!” I yelped. “What—”

He spun towards me, his eyes widening. “Stephanie!”

My gaze fell on the water glass floating in the air in front of him. “Audrun, what is going on?”

“I don’t know, Stephanie.” Something tells me he’s not being truthful.

“Seriously, Audrun, what’s going on?” I stepped forward, eying the vine as it twines out—faster than any vine should grow. “What—what does all this mean?” The vine, the water glass…

He looked away. “I think—I think it means I’m a mage.”

“WHAT?!” I leapt back in shock. A mage? That incredibly rare power, that terribly dangerous power. “Like—where you have all the powers?”

“Obviously.” He gestured at the floating glass, the vine…

“Oh.” I stumbled and slid down the wall. “What are you going to do? How many people saw you?”

“Everyone. But maybe they didn’t know it was me. No-one could tell. Those things were just happening.” He paled. “Oh no, I hope they don’t think it’s Haley! I have to protect her.”

“Hey, wait up! You’re not even supposed to be in this side of the school!” I protested, pursuing him.

He didn’t slow down. “I have to make sure she’s not blamed.”

“Relax. They can’t prove any…” The words died on my lips.

The guards from outside stood just inside the door. “Make an orderly line,” the one closest to us was saying. “You must pass by us one by one to be checked for the power labeled ‘mage’.”

Audrun’s eyes grew huge. Before he could rush into the room, I seized his elbow and dragged him back into the hallway. “Audrun! You can’t go in there. They must have some way of—I dunno—testing you. Maybe a device that scans that potion they had you drink. Haley’s not a mage, so she’ll be fine. You won’t.”

“Wait, wait!” He dug in his heels. “What’s the harm? Maybe they’ll help me.”

“Don’t be stupid.” I looked around. “They’ll take you away. Why d’you think there aren’t any mages around here?”

He blinked. “Still. Where am I gonna go?”

“I don’t know. We have to hide you.” I yanked open the door of the janitor’s closet and shoved him towards the mops. “In you go.”

“You’re going to hide me from the government…in a closet.”

“Yes. Now get in and stay quiet!” My heart pounding with the illegal activity I had just gotten myself involved in, I slammed the door shut.

||AUDRUN||

In the darkness of the closet, I sat uncomfortably on an upturned bucket. Did Stephanie really think I could hide? From the government?!

I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the paneled wood. How had it come to this? Sure, I’d toed the line now and then, but I was a law-abiding citizen. I wasn’t trying to defy the rulers. I didn’t do defiance.

I wondered how long it had been since Stephanie had shut the door. Hours, surely. At least, it felt like hours.

How long would I have to hide? Should I keep running—how far would I have to go? Wouldn’t it be easier just to turn myself in?

A sharp spike of fear ran down my spine. It took me a minute to realize it hadn’t come from me.

I sat up straight and squeezed my eyes shut, trying to sense where it was coming from. Then I heard the sound of a thought. Stephanie’s.

I need to warn Audrun.

            Followed by her footsteps.

I shoved open the door of the closet. “Warn me of what?”

She jumped. “Did you read my mind?”

“By accident,” I said apologetically, glancing out at the empty hallway.

“They’ve found out you’re missing. I mean—not you exactly, but one of the students. They’re doing a search of the school.”

“Wow, they’re paranoid, aren’t they?”

“They have good reason.” She put out a hand and helped me to my feet. “Come on, we should just have you—feign illness or something.”

“You mean, let them see me?”

“Pretend you were in the bathroom.”

I stood up and followed her warily back to the classroom. The guards were talking in low voices by the door, but when they saw me they fell silent.

“You, kid. You’re the missing one,” said one of them roughly. “You missed the test. Did you drink your potion?”

I made a split-second decision.

Taking a deep breath, I channeled all my energy and spoke. “I drank the potion, and you already tested me,” I told them. “Remember? There is no missing student. I have been here the entire time and I am not a mage.”

Praying it would work, I held my breath as the guards’ stares went blank.

“Yes, yes, that’s right,” said the one who’d spoken before. “We remember now.”

“Return to your posts,” I ordered.

They nodded stupidly and left the room.

The entire exchange took less than a minute, and no-one but Stephanie had heard me.

But I had forgotten that Manipulating had negative effects.

A wave of exhaustion hit me, along with a splitting headache. I tried to stay awake, but the urge to sleep was too strong, and I drifted off into a dreamless darkness.

Pancake, here is the updated ethercurver power:

Ethercurver: They manipulate the space between things, so they can bring things into being/make things disappear. They can also manipulate the time-continuum—which means they can stretch time out or slow time down. They can also amplify or diminish light and energy.  Can boost/work in tandem with other powers. Basically, they’re really powerful, so also very rare.

Thank you guys again! This is soo fun

<<Yuyua>>

I walked into the school. It might look pretty on the outside, but on the inside  it proba- Never mind. It's still pretty. I thought. Well, here I was! In school. For the first time. It might seem strange that I just started going to this school. I sighed, and glanced around. Well, it was a good school it seemed. My Parents had lied, saying I was 12, and paid extra so I could join now. I think. I don't really care.

When I got to class, I sat down and tried to pay attention. It didn't work. I did notice that very few people were actually paying attention.

At lunch, I walked in and found a seat near the edge. There was a vial on the table. Weird. They'd better tell me what it is. They announced something on the speaker. Something about mages and testing. Oh well. I drank it and nearly spit it out. It was disgusting! Luckily, I hadn't eaten my lunch and that erased some of the taste.

After lunch, they did some test on me and let me go. I went back to class. I noticed that a couple of people weren't here. Or maybe this class was always like this. No one seemed concerned.

After classes were (finally) over, I saw someone sitting outside, reading.

"What's your name? I'm Yuyua!" I said to him.

"Weird name. My name's Stanley," He said back.

(Note: This is a guy who I will create a character for later.)

"What are you reading? How old are you? Do you go to this school?" I asked.

"I'm reading my homework. I am 14. I definitely go to this school." He said.

"Cool! Want to come over later?" I asked.

"Do you have homework?" He asked.

"Yeah!" I said.

"Then I'll come over. We can talk and do our homework." He said.

"Yeah!" I said again.

At my house, I told Stanley that I was actually 13, but my parents lied.

"Whoa! You're an Ethercurver!" He said.

"Yeah! What you?" I asked.

"I tell you later." He said grinning.
