AUZRIVLIA: ROLE PLAY

Well,

I am starting a role-play, finally!

Auzrivlia is a story I've been working on for some time, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and it's a wee bit too similiar to some of my other stories, so I figure I'll put it out on the CB and see what happens. No-one has to join, I just figured I'd try it out...

Okay then!

Auzrivlia is a city made of gems and enclosed by a magical mountain range, so no-one can get in. Long ago it was founded by two people, Gemani and Orion (yes, named after the constellations). Gemani accidentally woke an ancient spell which endowed all her descendents with magical powers, while Orion's descendants remained normal.

Back then, Auzrivlia was a place of welcome, with merchants and travelers coming in and out. But then an evil lord rose to power, overthrew the leaders, and closed Auzrivlia's borders. His descendants rule Auzrivlia today and use its power to take other countries.

Here are the descendants' possibe powers, but your character can be normal, too.

Manipulator--you can make anyone do what you want, but it takes a serious physical toll.

(Note: with all these elemental powers, you can semi-control the element--but only if it wants to listen.)

Watercurver--you can speak to water.

Firecurver--you can speak to fire.

Windcurver--you can speak to wind (although in this case it's called singing with the wind).

Earthcurver--you can speak to the earth, plants and stones especially.

Ethercurver--you can speak to the matter of the universe.

Animspeaker--you can speak to animals.

Emoreader--you can read emotions.

Telewave--you can hear thoughts.

Telekenetic--you can move things with your mind.

Futureseer--you can see the future.

Mage: you have all these powers.

Ok, that's it, but it's worth noting that, thought the characters don't know it yet, we should keep in mind that the rulers are lying and there is a way for "normal" people to have powers. I'm not actually sure what that way is yet. And mages are mysteriously vanishing…

One last thing: no-one knows if they have a power or not until they turn 13.

Please:

  Be respectful of others in this roleplay.

Don't role-play overly with other people's characters, no more than is necessary for the story.

But, also, introduce twists! Fun things! Unexpected turns! Secrets! Keep things moving forward!

Of course, no-one has to join. But, as I said, this is just a fun experiment on my part!

Ok. Charrie sheet! You can be as detailed or brief as you like.

Ok! Here’s my character. There’s no limit to characters you can create so I’ll post a few more later.

Alright, as mentioned, this roleplay will begin on the 16th of October, assuming, of course, that my family doesn’t have any plans for then! We can also push it back to the 19th depending on how many people join—if any….:) :| ;-

I am also open to suggestions for improvement of RP quality.

Bye!

The night of the ball~~

||Audrun||

I gazed at the school in amazement.

((The school is in the middle of a lake.))

The bridges were strung with twinkling fairy lights, and candles floated on the dark lake, flickering beautifully. Laughter echoed over the water, and the interlocking A’s on one of the school’s towers were lit up brightly.

Again I wondered if I should even be here. It was a great risk of being found out—but if I stayed home, I reasoned, it would be even more suspicious!

With this reasoning, I stepped to the door and held out my ID card to the guards. The first one studied it, then handed it to the other one, who did the same. Then they turned to me. “Please wait for a moment,” said one (I had long-ago nicknamed him Mustache-brow).

I uneasily stepped away, with a good view of the bridge so I could run if needed. One of the guards vanished inside the school, while the other leaned against the wall, muttering to himself.

Finally the other guard emerged and handed me my card. Calling up every bit of my bravado, I asked, “What took so long?”

He paused and stared at me for a minute. Then he looked away. “Chip’s damaged. Get a new card next time you’re in the city.”

I nodded and stepped past them, but something made me shiver with foreboding.

||Stephanie||

I saw Audrun enter the room, wearing, as usual, a rather worn t-shirt and jeans. GREAT ball attire.

I waved him over, annoyed that he had put himself in danger to come. A small part of me imagined that this was all for me, because he didn’t want to disappoint me, but I quickly quelled that thought.

He came over to me and I handed him a paper on which I’d written, Shouldn’t you be in hiding?

            He smiled tiredly, and I could tell he’d been staying up late worrying he’d put us in danger.

He grabbed the paper and wrote, It’d be more suspicious if I stayed home.

            I sighed. “In that case, let’s try to have fun.”

“Who knows how long it’ll last,” Audrun muttered.

||Audrun||

Me and Stephanie drifted over to the food tables, draped in cotton but already beginning to stain. Groups and couples hung around chatting and waiting for the ball to begin.

Finally, the principal stepped onto the stage. He was chubby and had a double chin, but a friendly face, and I suspected that he disliked discipline. He went up to the microphone and cleared his throat a few times.

“Greetings, students, and welcome to the Annual Autumn Ball! We hope you will enjoy it. Tonight is an evening to breach the barriers between gifted and non-gifted…”

He continued, but I wasn’t really listening. He was toeing the line of the law separating those with powers and those without. I wondered if he knew this.

Finally, the speech was over and the music began. I wasn’t very good at dancing, and this time around proved no different.

||Haley||

“I’m feeling sick,” I told Stephanie. “I think I have to go home. Keep an eye on Audrun for me.”

She blinked. “Oh, ok. Feel better soon!”

I nodded and squeezed her arm. Then I pulled away and moved towards the door.

“Where ya going?” asked one of the guards. I told them I wasn’t feeling well and slipped past them into the hallway.

Everything was quiet. All the kids were at the ball, so I went unhindered. The hallways were long and different at night, and I got lost several times, but at last I reached the great double doors blocking the non-gifted from the gifted side of school.

I stood in front of the door for a long minute, reading the inscription on it.

Power to those who deserve it.

This common phrase of Auzrivlia took on a whole new meaning now that I knew that non-gifted could have powers. My body shook with rage. Does the governor hand-pick those “worthy”? Does he choose only those he knew would support him?

            Furious, I stepped to the small ID scanner. Gifted Only, it said in small letters. This wouldn’t be a problem. Guiltily, I pulled Stephanie’s ID card from my pocket. I’ll give it back later, I promised myself. She’ll never know I stole it. But the guilt did not subside.

I swiped the card.

Welcome, Stephanie.

            The doors slid open.

I took a deep breath and stepped through them.

The gifted side of school was so much grander than ours. White stone pillars polished to perfection rose from floor to ceiling. Stone gargoyles coiled atop them, snarling or standing proudly with wings half-spread. The floor was carved with intricate designs. It was beautiful, but I gritted my teeth at this further prejudice against non-gifted. And it’s not even our fault.

            I stopped to study a map. The library was nearby, and I quickly found my way to it. These doors were inscribed with a slightly-better saying (by which I mean it did not make me shake in fury).

Knowledge is Power.

I swiped the ID card again and watched the doors swing open. Then I went in.

Great shelves curved upwards, and baskets hung from the ceiling. Baskets in which one could pull oneself up to the highest shelves. I ignored them and went to back of the library.

The stairs wound up to a sturdy metal door. Just staring at it made me shiver. It was as thick as a steel vault.

I went to the librarian’s desk and sifted through it. There was a lot of paper, persona records, and trash, but at last I found what I was looking for: a discarded ID card.

Colton Brash, Head Librarian.

            I smiled. As I’d hoped, Colton was careless.

I climbed the stairs to the door and swiped the card.

IDENTITIFIED: COLTON BRASH

I smiled, but the satisfaction was brief.

PASSCODE REQUIERED. 3 TRIES PERMITTED.

I winced and tried Government. It did not work.

INCORRECT. 2 MORE TRIES PERMITTED BEFORE SECURITY MEASURES ARE ENGAGED.

Power, I typed.

INCORRECT. 1 MORE TRY PERMITTED BEFORE SECURITY MEASURES ARE ENGAGED.

Darn it. I wracked my brain, then figured that if the ceiling started coming down I could run. On a whim, I punched in, Mage.

            The door slid open.

||||||||||

So, here is what you guys should know: The Ball will go on until we’ve all gotten to know eachother; then the government’s going to try and kidnap Audrun. He runs away but gets captured by the underground movement of Mages, who are the “good guys” although he doesn’t know that at first. Neither does everyone else, who thinks he’s been captured…

So they go to look for him, which is kinda the point of the RP.

Well, later!

WOOO LET'S DO THIS THIS IS SO FUNNN

||Celesti||

I wear a sparkling teal gown that cascades in a series of frills down to my ankles.  I'm wearing slippers covered in rhinestones, and last night, I braided my hair after taking a shower so when I undid it it would be curly.

I decided not to bring a date.  No one had asked me, and I decided not to be offended by that since I wouldn't have wanted to go with anyone even if I was invited.  I put my fingers, swirls of blue and green painted on them, up to my temples.  The room was such a bundle of nerves tonight, and it was giving me a headache.

||Tsume||

I went to the autumn ball alone this year.  Someone actually had asked me, but I'd told him no.  I'd be flattered, but I was a Telewave, so I knew this boy had had a crush on me since first grade.  It had lost its appeal and was now just annoying.

 My gown was plain, black with a few sparkles and no extra frills and jewels, and long, reaching all the way past the heels of my velvet shoe.  My hair was done in ringlets, most pulled back into a ponytail but two strands lying in front of my ears.  I wore dangling earrings of white and silver beads, all collecting in the pattern of a dreamcatcher.  I did look rather nice.  Thoughts from those surrounding me confirmed this.

||Audrun||

After a few dances I began to relax; no one had rushed in to take me into custody. Stephanie noticed some kids she’d met before and dragged me over to introduce me.

“Hey, I’m Celesti,” said the girl with silver hair. I blinked; her hair turned brown. Fascinated, I tilted my head.

“I’m Audrun.”

She blinked, and her eyes widened. So she’d heard about my alleged magel powers…the girl nearby-Tsume, from her mind-is smirking in a self-satisfied manner. I wonder if she’s reading my mind, even though no powers are allowed at the ball.

“So, Celesti,” Stephanie chattered, “you didn’t bring a date. How come?”

She’s so forward. I rolled my eyes and noticed a girl and a boy standing by the table. The girl has one blue eye, and one purple eye. I’d never met anyone with that eye-type and found myself drifting towards her. Our eyes met.

I found myself slipping into her mind. I jerked back, remembering the rule, but not before I’d procured an astonishing fact.

She was a mage, as well.

It’s short today so you guys can decide what to do.

And also so I can do Pancake’s RP, I am so sorry that I’ve been busy *cries*

Thank you!

~Crystal~

A couple hours before the dance

I don't know many people, so it might  be kind of hard to find someone to come to the dance with me. I will wear a gold, silk dress, that is not flowy, but long, black leggings, high heeled sandles, and no make up. Then, someone taps me on the shoulder. There is a oy standing there.

He asked me, "I'm Ren. Want to go to the dance with me?"

"Sure," I say in reply.

||Crystal||

The dance room is big. Like really big. I walk over to the snack tale and help myself. Weirdly, no matter how much I eat, I stay really skinny. I don't mind to much, cause then I can just eat whatever I want. I am just waiting for Ren right now. Might be a bit before he shows up.

Audrun!   I gasp.  The mage!  While my mind is still processing the fact, Stephanie asked, "I noticed you didn't bring a date.  How come?"

Waves of mild annoyance radiate from Audrun. (I feel slightly guilty about using my powers, but I can't really turn them off yet, and... it's not actually harming anyone, right?) "Oh, um, well, I didn't really want to. I mean, no one asked me, but even if they had, I... well, I don't really like anyone that way."

"I see," says Stephanie conversationally.  I bite my lip, not quite knowing what to say, when I feel sudden shock.  After the initial impact wears off, I realize it's coming from Audrun, who's staring at a girl I've seen around a few times.

||Tsume||

A mage!  Audrun's mind practically shouts.  Another mage, near me, right now!  I didn't know, I didn't think--

Crystal? I think.  Yes, of course she's a mage.  I'm glad I'm one of the very few Telewaves at the school, since many others would have exposed her right away.  I sigh.  What would be the point of having world-changing knowledge about another person and not keeping it a secret, for when it could be proved useful?

I try to look through Stephanie's mind.  At the surface, she's somewhat calm, obviously trying to protect Audrun... but there's something else there, too.  I try to pry in, but something stops me.  A feeling deep in my heart.

There's a secret, one that can throw all of Auzrivlia into chaos.  And I am not meant to hear it, not yet.

Not yet.
