AUZRIVLIA: ROLE PLAY

Well,

I am starting a role-play, finally!

Auzrivlia is a story I've been working on for some time, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and it's a wee bit too similiar to some of my other stories, so I figure I'll put it out on the CB and see what happens. No-one has to join, I just figured I'd try it out...

Okay then!

Auzrivlia is a city made of gems and enclosed by a magical mountain range, so no-one can get in. Long ago it was founded by two people, Gemani and Orion (yes, named after the constellations). Gemani accidentally woke an ancient spell which endowed all her descendents with magical powers, while Orion's descendants remained normal.

Back then, Auzrivlia was a place of welcome, with merchants and travelers coming in and out. But then an evil lord rose to power, overthrew the leaders, and closed Auzrivlia's borders. His descendants rule Auzrivlia today and use its power to take other countries.

Here are the descendants' possibe powers, but your character can be normal, too.

Manipulator--you can make anyone do what you want, but it takes a serious physical toll.

(Note: with all these elemental powers, you can semi-control the element--but only if it wants to listen.)

Watercurver--you can speak to water.

Firecurver--you can speak to fire.

Windcurver--you can speak to wind (although in this case it's called singing with the wind).

Earthcurver--you can speak to the earth, plants and stones especially.

Ethercurver--you can speak to the matter of the universe.

Animspeaker--you can speak to animals.

Emoreader--you can read emotions.

Telewave--you can hear thoughts.

Telekenetic--you can move things with your mind.

Futureseer--you can see the future.

Mage: you have all these powers.

Ok, that's it, but it's worth noting that, thought the characters don't know it yet, we should keep in mind that the rulers are lying and there is a way for "normal" people to have powers. I'm not actually sure what that way is yet. And mages are mysteriously vanishing…

One last thing: no-one knows if they have a power or not until they turn 13.

Please:

Be respectful of others in this roleplay.

Don't role-play overly with other people's characters, no more than is necessary for the story.

But, also, introduce twists! Fun things! Unexpected turns! Secrets! Keep things moving forward!

Of course, no-one has to join. But, as I said, this is just a fun experiment on my part!

Ok. Charrie sheet! You can be as detailed or brief as you like.

Ok! Here’s my character. There’s no limit to characters you can create so I’ll post a few more later.

 Name: Audrun

Age (keep in mind that no-one has powers until they turn thirteen, and your character cannot be aged above 16): turning thirteen tomorrow when this role-play begins, which let’s say will be on the 16th of October or so.

Appearance: floppy brown-black hair; blue-green eyes; wears ragged clothing on purpose; pale skin

Personality: sometimes a little cocky, very brave; wishes he’d get a cool power

Backround: He grew up with a normal family, going to the regular school, and has a crush on Stephanie (a character I’ll post later)

Gender/pronouns: He/him

Power (no more than one per character, unless they’re a mage): Well, nothing yet, but he’s going to be a mage. Don’t tell him!

Strengths: Very brave and protective; also agile.

Flaws: Sometimes accidentally hurts people’s feelings

Other: n/a

Alright, as mentioned, this roleplay will begin on the 16th of October, assuming, of course, that my family doesn’t have any plans for then! We can also push it back to the 19th depending on how many people join—if any….:) :| ;-

I am also open to suggestions for improvement of RP quality.

Bye!

Great. Seri was going to be the hero again. I go over to Voyti and Audrun follows. Stephanie and Haley are there too.

"There are three government officals over there and WHERE IS THE BRIDGE?!" I say.

"The bridge got washed away." Haley said.

"Oh great." I say sarcastically. "Oh and Seri went to take care of the officals."

Voyti and some other mages immediately head off in that direction.

"OK, I have an idea for the bridge." I say. "We could try making a portal to cross the river, but the weaker mages," I cast a glance at Audrun, "don't know how to do it yet."

Audrun looked annoyed, but it was true. He didn't have enough training. So there was three options. Wait for the rain to stop and hope the river get lower, swim across the river, or build a bridge. The river's current would drag us, the river could stay this high for days, and building a bridge would be nearly impossible seeing as we didn't have the tools. Wait. The current. If I remember correctly, the river went through the old mage camp. we could make rafts for those who can't swim and in case you need a break. I only, remembered this because I had visited the old mage camp a few years ago. this could be the solution.

I see Crystal talking to Voyti. I sneak closer and hear her suggesting we use rafts. What a brilliant solution!

"I think it's a great idea," says Stephanie, coming up behind me.

Seri and a few other mages emerge from the woods. "We knocked out the officers and stuck them back in their car," Seri announced. "All..." Her voice trailed off as she notices the river. "UM. YIKES."

Voyti paces back and forth. "Making rafts will take the better part of the day, even with magic. We'll have to set up a temporary camp. Everyone pitch your tents."

"What can I do?" I ask once I've done this.

Voyti glances at me. I can tell he doesn't want to trust me with any important job, but we're short on people.

He turns away. "Everyone will be assigned to a three-person group. Build as many rafts as you can."

In my group are Crystal and Seri. "So how do we do this?" I ask.

"well, there are different ways to make a raft. Based on our natural resources-- meaning vines and logs --we should make a simple raft with logs tied together by vines." I said.

Seri said, "Or we could our rope."

"Our rope should be saved for what it's for. If people fall down cliffs or such," I say.

"Whatever," Seri says.

After we have made some rafts, we go over to Voyti. He says that since most people are tired, we can help set up tents. The non-mages help set up a eating area in a nearby cave. It's not very big, so you couldn't sleep in it, so instead it's used for preparing and eating food.

The wind shrieks down over the mountain and I shiver in my sleeping bag. I'm sharing my tent with Stephanie and Haley. Both of them are asleep but I just can't drift off.

Finally I sit up and  as quietly as possible sneak out of the tent. No-one else is awake in the camp except for the two mages on watch who are facing the other way. I decide to go for a walk and pull on my raincoat.

The forest is dark and full of strange noises, but it doesn't bother me. I've never been afraid of darkness which is more than a lot of people can say. I wonder if it's part of my being a mage, that I feel connected with all of the elements.

My boots squelched through the mud and tree branches scraped my head as I stepped through the forest. It started to rain, big heavy drops plopping down on my head. I pulled up my hood.

The forest grew darker and gloomier as I squelched furthur in and farther away from the lights of the mage camp. I shivered. My raincoat wasn't very high quality and the rain had begun seeping through the fabric. My eyelids felt heavy. Maybe I'd have less trouble sleeping now.

Time to head back to camp...

I turned around, squinting through the rain. Alarm stabbed through my chest as I realized I couldn't see the lights of the mage camp. Could I be lost?

It occured to me that the rain was striking my back, instead of my face as it had been when I was leaving. So I must be facing the right way...so maybe I'd come farther than I'd realized.

Well, it would be fine, I told myself firmly. All I had to do was walk in the opposite direction of the rain and I'd get there eventually. My panicking heart ignored me, naturally.

I turned to begin walking.

And then something struck the side of my head, and everything went black.

So, not entirely sure where I'm going with this...maybe some government officials found audrun. that'd be cool. I do think it'd be beneficial to the story if everyone continued without him and didn't notice he was gone until they were across the river. Bye!

I've been paired with two mages I know nothing about.

One is tall and imposing, which is odd combined with her waist-length, bubble-gum pink hair. She has large, deer-like brown eyes which have been following my every move since she saw me, though the mage hadn't said a word.

The other has short brown hair and a constant frown.  E introduced emself and the other mage "I'm Riley, e/em/es, this is Mink, she/her" and wandered off into the forest once e got bored, leaving Mink and I to set up the tent by ourselves.

I feel so exposed.  These mages, they can hear my every thought.  They know everything about me.

Even scarier, I know nothing about them.

I angrily stab the last stake into the ground, feeling Mink's gaze on the back of my head.  "There.  Done."

"We're not your enemies."

So what?  I think before I can catch myself.  You know everything about me and you can do whatever you want with it!  You're definitely not my friend, so that's a little creepy if you ask me!

Mink raises one thick eyebrow.

"Oh?"

Someone behind me snorts disbelievingly, and I jump.

"Strange thing for a Telewave to say."

Riley.  "Where did you come from?" I snap angrily.

"Why are you here?" e shoots back.  "Last I checked, you're not a mage.  But I can check again."

He looks at me, and I feel a disturbing... presence.

"I was right," e says.  "Not a mage."

"Get out!  Get out of my head!"

E shrugs.  "Works for me."

Riley walks into the forest again, and I run in the opposite direction.

It's.... been an interesting couple of days.

After Tsume and Haley left, I decided to try stalking some guards.

Honestly, I have no idea why.  It just seemed like a cool and helpful thing to do, to find out information, you know.  I don't know what information, exactly, I was trying to gather, but I just sort of thought this happens in all the movies and stuff, and went ahead and did it.

Well, the guard I followed was a Windcurver named Steve, and I actually gathered a lot more information on him than I expected I would.  He's twenty-one years old and signed up to be a guard because he wants to make enough money to own every Taco Chime in Auzrivlia.

Interesting career choice, but okay.

He didn't know much about mages but had a fiery, burning hatred of them, and he believes they were aliens from Mars who came to starve innocent civilians, and his best friend Will the Telekinetic swears they are ancestors of nuclear waste that came in contact with a spider.

I was mostly careful not to be caught, but I wasn't as cautious as I would've been if Steve was a little bit smarter.  I actually made one of my notebooks into the Chronicles of Steve, where I recorded everything funny he did.

It was fun for a few hours, before i realized hey.  Haley and Tsume and Audrun and them are all risking their lives and I'm writing about a stranger eating spicy tacos.  I should be doing something more.

I watch way too much TV, evidently.  I did something even stupider and more fictional.

I tried to interrogate Steve.

Sorry Pancake :)

||Haley||

The rain is pouring down and a few of the weatherwise mages are casting glances at the sky and muttering to eachother. One of them dashed over to Voyti and whispered urgently in his ear. I edged closer and the mage's voice wavered into hearing.

"...major storm on the way, sir. Lightning and thunder expected. It will not be safe to cross for another day."

"It is not safe to stay here!" Voyti thundered. "Here where the Government could drop down on us like vengeful hawks? No! We must cross!" He ignored any furthur attempts and began to shout orders. Then he waved his hands and his voice, magically amplified, boomed out over the wet field.

"Mages and non-mages," he said, "make an orderly line. There will be three people per raft. Those of you who are powerful enough to cross the river with magic, come over by me. You will help me guide the water to carry the rafts to the opposite bank."

We divided into groups of three. I was a little sad that Audrun hadn't come over to us--we got paired with a grumpy turquoise-haired guy with lots of piercing--but I hadn't seen him in the chaos so maybe he hadn't seen us. Or that Seri girl had roped him into their group again. Ugh.

We waded into the river and the current immedietly threatened to sweep us away. Voyti and the others made some motions with their hands and the flow of the water twisted sideways a bit.

"Group 1 get on your raft," Voyti commanded.

They did. We watched as the magical flow carried them to the opposite bank, where one. of the powerful mages was waiting. He used the air to carry them to the top of the cliff where they would wait for the rest of us.

Me, Stephanie, and Turquoise-Piercings were sixth in line. We watched as the next four groups were successfully washed across the river, and then it was our turn.

Thunder rumbled ominously as we waded into the water. Voyti and the others raised their hands. Then as we climbed onto the raft and let go of the bank, an enormous bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree, lighting up the night with an incredible flash!

The ensuing bolt of thunder was incredibly loud (it felt like my eardrums were breaking) and I saw the mages on the shore collapse to the ground, holding their ears.

Oh no.

Naturally, when one is holding their ears, they cannot concentrate on the magic that was supposed to be carrying us across the river.

The magical current evaporated and me and Stephanie clung to eachother as we were washed down towards the waterfall.

I'm also not sure where I'm going with this. You can have one of your characters save them or if not, they'll just end up somewhere far downstream and have to find their way back (since, obviously, I can't kill them off. Nope, no way) . Whichever way is great. Although if nobody saves them I'll have to have at least one of them fall off and get washed into the bank since if not I'll have nobody at the mage camp! OK later!
