Cricket Story Club!

Cricket Story Club!

Hello, Everyone! This is Sparkling Rainbow speaking. Here goes the result of the November Story Contest AND story club instruction.

First thing first! The result of the November Story Contest! Wildfire and Phoenix Tears entered their story and I'd like to thank you both! Now, the winning story is.... *Drum rolls dramatically* Phoenix Tears! Now, Phoenix Tears, you can decide January story topic of the Story Club.

So what IS Cricket Story Club? Well, as I posted each month's writing thread, I realized there were bunch of other CBers who posted their threads about writing. So I thought, to get things more organized in Inkwell, we could gather all of the CBers and participate into one thread! So if any of you who post writing thread every month see my thread, I'd be so grateful if you participate on this one! But you can start your own if you want. To make this club even more interesting, I'd like to set up contests in this club every month. You can enter your story in or not. It's up to you. Even though you are IN this club, you can decide. If you win the contest of the month, I'll send you a prize I drew over the comment and you get to choose the topic two months later. For example if you win December's contest, you get to choose February Story Club's topic. Now understand how this works? If you have any question, please comment and if you want to join, also please comment.

Here's my story of December!

Living Room at Midnight        By. Sparkling Rainbow

Kristy's eyes opened. She didn't know why, but they somehow did. She was in her pajamas and the clock's hands told her it was a minute until twelve o'clock. She rubbed her eyes.

Now she saw her room clearly in the dark. You know, like when you are adapted to the dark and can see everything even though it's dark where you are.

Suddenly, she noticed she was thirsty. She turned open her door and clicked on the flashlight making sure she didn't wake the rest of the family. When she was in the kitchen on the first floor, she flicked the light on.

Kristy opened the refrigerator and took the water bottle out. She poured the water in the cup, looking down. She held the cup and put her upper lips on the cup. However, before she could take a sip, she lost a grip of it with wide eyes.

"AUGHHH!" Kristy cried out.

"There, there," an elderly man with a gentle smile calmed her down, "we don't want to wake the rest of your family up, do we?"

Kristy scanned the man. A man with a frizzle mustache. A tiny glass even smaller than his pale blue eyes. Wrinkles. Hundreds of wrinkles. But the point that reveals his identity well was his red outfit. Who else can he be? An old man in a red outfit during the midnight of Christmas Eve? Of course he is...

"Santa?" Kristy finally spitted out that word. She almost fainted.

"True," Santa Claus replied as he picked up the broken glass pieces Kristy had dropped, "and you must be Kristy.

"Yeah!" Kristy exclaimed with surprised eyes. "I never knew you would reveal your identity in front of me!"

"You have been the most well-behaving child around the world this year," Santa chuckled, "That's why I appeared in front of you."

"Thank you Santa," Kristy grinned, blushing with the compliments Santa made.

"For a good child, I'll give you a chance to travel around the world with me and see how I hand out presents for good children."

"Now," Santa snapped his fingers and a gigantic red sled with colorful decorations appeared at the front door, "take your seat."
