Middle-Earth Solo

Middle-Earth Solo Write

The ripples fall, silver-white under the moonlit sky, in Long Lake Esgaroth. It's the middle of the night, the moon is in the middle of the sky, and the land is Middle-Earth. Danger is lurking in the Misty Mountains and in the depths of Mirkwood, and no one knows it. The land is peaceful. The dwarves are unsuspecting. It is Middle-Earth as it always has been.

Far, far away, it is also the middle of the night, but not Middle-Earth. Unfortunately. The CBers are together for once, eating popcorn if they like it and something else if they don't, rewatching the LOTR movies or just standing in little groups and reminiscing about reuinions or SIs, or catching up on threads, or beating each other on the Last to Post. All laughing and talking. They're together because it was just the reunion and, well, if that isn't a time to celebrate what is? It's the CB Hall they're in right now, with walls lined with all the books they love (the Chronicles of Narnia, for example, because Amethyst insisted, and Keeper of the Lost Cities, and of course all of Tolkien's books, because there never was anyone like the CBers for reading Tolkien) and high, narrow windows through which the moonlight is falling. Some of the older CBers are still around, too, and they're all enjoying themselves, regardless of being supposedly too old for these things. And even an admin or two has shown up, which automatically makes everything more interesting. And yes, it's the middle of the night, but that's never daunted a CBer, has it?

And then suddenly, there's a flash of bluish light that drowns out the moonlight, and someone is standing in their midst - an old man, with keen, wise brown eyes, and a staff and a wizard's hat and dark robes that look, amazingly, like something out of Middle-Earth. He looks like something out of Middle-Earth. He is something out of Middle-Earth.

"Well, CBers," he says. "I meet you at last. I would never have come - I thought I wouldn't come - but then I reflected how you all love Middle-Earth, and I thought perhaps you were the right people to come to after all. I am Gandalf."

There's silence in the hall, sudden silence that closes down suddenly and completely. Gandalf? It's impossible, right? Or - is it possible? There he is, anyway.

Gandalf waits for them to think out their thoughts and decide whether he is or isn't himself. Then he explains, "I need you to come back to Middle-Earth with me. There's trouble about (as usual!), and I want you to help me. You don't have to, but I know you won't turn down a chance of seeing your heroes and friends. They don't even know there's trouble, and you must help them. Well, who'll join me?"

==========================

Another solo write! I haven't read LOTR itself (although I have read The Hobbit), so I can't put in that many characters which most of you probably know, but there will, with a fine disregard for what Tolkien may have been thinking when he wrote his books, be Legolas, Gandalf, maybe even Elrond, and hobbits, dwarves, elves... almost everything! Have fun!

Here I am finally

Age: 15

Pronouns (being a wizard I ought to know this but I might not, so you'd better tell me in case): she/her

Appearance: On the shorter side, with short and straight brown hair, deep brown eyes, and pale brownish skin. Pointy ears, because of course. I am wearing a knee-length velvet green dress with a beaded belt and cuffs; simple white legging; small ankle-length brown boots; a bow and arrow (mostly for show because I could never actually kill anything); and over it all, a muted gold cloak (because as Artemis said, you can't not have a cloak.) I am going for a mix of practical & elegant, a la Tolkein.

Favorite Tolkien character (I don't promise to have heard of yours - this is optional): Éowyn of course! But I also adore Frodo and Galadriel and all the hobbits.

Fight or flee?: Flee.

If you are confronted with a goblin, what do you do?: Probably threaten it with my bow and arrow, hoping to not actually have to shoot it, possibly arrowing it in the arm if absolutely necessary to send the message. Realistically that probably wouldn't work so then I would try to hide.

My captcha (which for the purposes of this solo write is temporarily a baby ent) says "oneif." Good job, Merrp! Two actual words!

Age: Teenagerish

Pronouns (being a wizard I ought to know this but I might not, so you'd better tell me in case): she/her

Appearance: Long silver hair, golden eyes with star pupils, angular face, freckles, short (ish), golden tattoo like things, fangs, claws, pointy ears.

Favorite Tolkien character (I don't promise to have heard of yours - this is optional): I love Tauriel and Legolas. I'm also partial to Golum. ;)

Fight or flee?: Fight. Grrrrrrrr.

If you are confronted with a goblin, what do you do?: Well, goblins are really ugly and I will try to kill it with some really cool elf/wizard move.

Age: 15-16ish

Pronouns (being a wizard I ought to know this but I might not, so you'd better tell me in case): he/him preferred, they/them acceptable.

Appearance: Short. Light brown skin. Brown hair. Hair is short on the sides and a little longer and spiky on the top, hair tips dyed royal blue. Usually wears black sweatpants and a black jacket or sweatshirt of some kind over a t-shirt. One leg is in one of those black plastic booots they make you wear when you break your ankle (he can walk small distances, like up one flight of stairs or down a hallway, but for anything longer he needs crutches). Wears sneaker on the other foot. Gray-green eyes. Freckles across face and arms. Hates jeans. Has a watch on one wrist and a number of friendship bracelets on the other

Favorite Tolkien character (I don't promise to have heard of yours - this is optional): Ssuron, I suppose.

Fight or flee?: Depends on the situation. I rather like fighting, but I'll flee if nessecary.

If you are confronted with a goblin, what do you do?: Swear at it a lot, and then invite it to my birthday party, where I shall play the harmonica for it and then proceed to stab it several times with my plastic fork.

Note: My preferred weapon is my handy plastic fork. I also have a sock puppet named Bert.

Oop, I should mention that this one is Jay's form. Chaser won't be coming, as he's rather busy.

Ooh, fun!

Age: let's say somewhere around fourteen? You can choose.

Pronouns: she/her

Appearance: Soft black hair, wavy; tall and slender, with delicate but distinctive features; wearing a dark green dress, knee-length, with a silver underskirt, also tall silver boots and *all right, yields to temptation* a goldeny-foresty-brown cloak. My hair is held back by a small silver brooch in the shape of a fern.

Favorite Tolkien character (I don't promise to have heard of yours - this is optional): Hmm, from the books I've read I would say Bilbo Baggins.

Fight or flee?: This depends on the circumstances. If someone else's life is in danger, I'll probably fight, but probably otherwise I'd be in favor of fleeing.

If you are confronted with a goblin, what do you do?: Run.

Ahh, your outfit is so cool I feel like I have to draw it (no promises but I'm getting a lot of inspiration from this thread so unasked picturings might appear eventually)

Oh, thanks! :) Your own appearance is really nice too, I think it probably helped inspire me to add a little more to my own basic appearance. An un-asked-for picturing would be lovely too (I love the way you draw) :D

Age: Put me down as about 15.

Pronouns (being a wizard I ought to know this but I might not, so you'd better tell me in case): She/her

Appearance: Medium height, chocolate-brown hair with reddish glints, green eyes with golden flecks, cinnamon skin, small straight nose

Favorite Tolkien character (I don't promise to have heard of yours - this is optional): It's been a while since I read any Tolkien books, but I remember I always liked Elrond.

Fight or flee?: Flee for sure, if my enemy's dangerous; if not, fight.

If you are confronted with a goblin, what do you do?: Oh dear. Hide behind the nearest tree? Or else, as Flamie said, send for you at once.

Age: The younger side of teen.

Pronouns (being a wizard I ought to know this but I might not, so you'd better tell me in case): She/Her.

Appearance: I changed my CB appearance. Look at the image attatched.

Favorite Tolkien character (I don't promise to have heard of yours - this is optional): Galadriel--I'm quite, quite like her. Specifically from Rings of Power.

Fight or flee?: Fight.

If you are confronted with a goblin, what do you do?: Check it's intentions before attacking with a strategical attack, or use logic to outwit it. No need for malice.
