RP! Anyone want

Chatterbox: Inkwell

RP! Anyone want

RP! Anyone want to join me?

Rhi slumped down against the cold, stone, dungeon wall, after yet another futile attempt to wriggle her legs out of the shackles. It was hopeless to try to do anything. She was stuck here, for good or until someone came down here to get her. And bring her up to her excecution, most likely. Once again she cursed her stupidity. Why had she tried to create a magic fire? The alley had been cold and dark, but not nearly as cold and dark as a dungeon. She had known she would get caught. She had known magic was against the law. And it wasn't as if she was a real witch, one who could turn attackers into toads or whatever. And now she was stuck here. May as well give up, she thought. Can't do anything.

Then a sound jolted her out of her thoughts -- a loud, long creak as the door swung open, and light came down into the dungeon. "Anyone down there?" a voice shouted.

Okay, I'll continue! I'll ... hold on. You're with Aalton/Aladdin, Ash, and either Trompeur or me, right? They don't know where Ven and the other girl are. K! I'll make the girl with all of you be me so I can write about it.

//Rhi//

I gasp and look at him. "The queen? So it's not because Ven asked you to, then? You're going to take her to the Queen?" Yes, I think, it would be better than Ven, but still, the Queen....

"Um. Well." He looks worried, h'mming awkwardly.

"Look," I say, "I'm not on Ven's side, at least, but I can't believe you're going to bring Temp to her death."

"My aunt's not like that! It's common people she disapproves of having magical power. She would give Temp a job. Do you think I would do that to Temp? I really do care for her."

I am about to be insulted by his comment about "common people," but I don't have a chance. Temp has opened her eyes. "Wha' hap'n?" she manages to say.

I bend down over her. "While you were unconcious, Ven created a lot of waterbottles to destroy your zombies. While she was battling with them, Trompeur was steering the chopper. Which she is apparently less than expert at, as we are now in the Ridge. While the plane was crashing, Ven grabbed Trompeur and Disapparated ((forgive the HP terminology, please! speaking of which, does anyone want to join the Marauders RP in BaB? *has just shamelessly advertised her thread* Right, on with the story ...)). Now the three of us -- and Ash -- are stuck here."

This seems to be a lot for her to take in. She shuts her eyes again. "So what are we going to do?"

"Well. We'll need food, first. I don't know any spells to create it." She begins to start to sit up, but Aladdin gently pushes her down.

"You can't do any more spells," he says calmly. "The more you rest now, the more you'll be able to do later." She lies back down, and he looks at me. "You're a witch, right?"

"Aye."

"Good. Maybe they have some spellbooks in the chopper? If you can find some, you can do the spells to make some food."

"I can't read," I admit.

"Well, I'll read them to you and you can repeat them."

I rush off to the wreck of the chopper and begin to search. I finally come up with a book. I have rarely seen books. My mother could read, of course, but she hadn't been rich enough to own any books. I turn around to go back to Temp and Aladdin, but I hear a small noise behind me.

It is Seryn. "Rhi," she says.

"Are you okay?"

She nodds shakily. "In the chaos everyone forgot about me."

"Well, come on." She looks at me skeptically. "Come on," I repeat.

She follows me nervously. "I found Seryn," I call. "She's okay." I hand the book to Aladdin.

He takes it and reads the title. When he's read it, he turns white. "Rhi? This ... this isn't a spellbook."

@ZNZ: Kewlness!

//Trompeur//

 I heard Aalton or Aladdin or whatever his name was gasp and I ached to see what was going on, but I was stuck behind the controls, trying to manuever the chopper correctly, as we had partly crashed, which was not my fault. It's pretty hard to pilot a chopper in the midst of water bottles, zombies, and a bunch of other weird yet fantastical stuff. Anyways...

 "It says it's a Book of the Dead!" I heard Aalton exclaim, I jumped up in my seat, causing me to move the controller (I don't know the parts of a helicopter) up and the chopper lurched forward, making a sickening sound.

 Everyone was thrown forward and when the chopper stayed still, everyone looked at me. I blushed madly.

 "Can you please try to control this thing?" asked Rhi. "Temp is still waking up from her Slumber."

 "I'll try," I said through my gritted teeth, as I tried in concentration to carefully un-crash the chopper.

 "Hey!" Aalton exclaimed suddenly, "This is a spell to summon spirits! Maybe we can summon a sorceress or something, and ask them to make us some food."

 I grimace when he said, "sorceress or something."

 So that's my post. Sorry about the tense mix-up. I probably shouldn't do Screnzy next year. :-P

At this point I think explanations are only going to confuse you more. You may just have to read through it all... but it's interesting. i think so at least. But rest assured... we're probably just as confused as you!

((It's very simple. In our (unnamed) country, magic is illegal. Rhi (an orphan and beginner witch) and Temperance Wickler, called Temp, (also an orphan. Her father was a captain, and she is a very powerful witch) were imprisoned for doing magic. They were put in the Sorcerer's Cell, in which it is impossible to do magic. Veneficus (Ven), one of the Rhombus, which is the stronger half of the rebellion against the anti-magic government, rescued them. The three escaped from the dungeon with Seryn, a mysterious serving girl who Rhi thinks may be her sister.

On the way to the Rhombus' headquarters, Temp managed to get away from Ven. After asking Aalton Pryor, the heir apparent, to make sure Temp didn't get hurt, Ven took the others to hq in the forest. The leader, called only Master, was furious and told them to go and find Temp. With them he sent Trompeur, a young witch.

Meanwhile, Temp and Aalton managed to make their way to the house of Mentira (Men), a witch who was later revealed to be Ven's sister. She was not, though, working with Ven, and protected them, letting them get away while she used magic to make a fake Temp. When they realized it wasn't the real one, they went to try to find the real one, who was headed toward the Rift.

Ven figured out that she must be at the Rift, but was then hit by a confusion spell put in place by Temp. It made all three think that Temp and Aalton had gone to the Cliffs of Despair, far away in the opposite direction. When the spell finally wore off, Ven realized what had happened. She used a rhombus-shaped communication device to contact her friends and asked them to get Temp and then pick them up.

A heliocopter arrived, driven by Prospectus (Spec). While she had Temp, Temp had "destroyed half an acre of forest with Lymefyre [...] melted the second chopper [... and] struck down [Spec's] entire team." She had also forced Spec to bring Aalton and the horse, Ash. While on board, Temp created some zombies to attack Ven and Spec. Spec was killed (I think -?). Ven created water bottles (because water destroys the zombies) while Trompeur tried, very inexpertly, to steer the heliocopter.

The heliocopter crashed in the Rift. During the crash, Ven grabbed Trompeur and disapparated, leaving Rhi, Aalton, Ash, and Temp alone in the Rift. Temp was unconcious after having used so much magic, and when talking to Rhi, Aalton revealed that he is working under the orderrs of his aunt, the Queen. Rhi didn't have time to ask more about that, because Temp woke up. Aalton forbid her to do any magic because she was so tired, but instead had Rhi go into the chopper to find some spellbooks she could use to create food. Rhi found Seryn in the chopper. She also found a book. Unable to read, she brought it to Aalton, who was terrified by what it was -- it wasn't a spellbook, but something more dangerous.

Then Olive posted, and to be honest, I'm not quite sure what's going on now. But there's my summary. Hope it helps.))

Well, that will take a while. Maybe somebody can summerize it?

It's just confusing because we started in a prison that seems to be in old-faishoned England because somebody got arrested for doing magic and suddenly we're on a helicopter with water bottles fending off zombies over the ocean?!?

((Picking up from ZNZ's summary (thanks for that, btw), Olive posted that the Something Completely Different was a Book of the Dead. She accidentally included Trompeur--- who was supposed to be with Ven wherever they disapperated to. So let's ignore that Trompeur was there in the forest, but keep that they found the Book of the Dead.

As for Spec, I don't think anyone loves her too much. Therefore, yes. She's dead.))

//Ven//

As Trompeur was led safely down the hall by a maid, Ven turned to face the Master, a pit of dread in her stomach. He was sitting on his throne (it was a fold-up plastic chair, but he was no less intimidating for it) and frowning down at her.

"Very disappointing," he finally said languidly.

He stood and began pacing towards her, speaking leisurely as though he had all the time in the world.

"I send you out with captives to get more captives. You come back with no captives." He glanced up to look her coldly in the eye. "Very disappointing."

"Master, I'm sorry. I was tired, she was clearly more powerful than we'd thought... than you'd thought--- I'm so sorry, please..."

"Quiet, Ven. I expect more than this from you." He raised a hand and spoke a word, and as the wave of excruciation crashed into her and knocked her over, Ven let out a cry of pain, not because of the anguish from the spell, but because of his words. Disappointing.

Very disappointing.

I agree that we keep Trompeur with Ven and just keep what she wrote... sort of a "ghost narrator" if you know what I mean.

@CJ: I completely agree that reading all these posts would take forever, but honestly the details we all include in them are kind of important.  The summaries will help (and were awesome, nice jobs ZNZ and Mary) but only so much.  I would recommend you at least skim through them.  Mine are really long, for which I repeatedly and profusely apologize yet can't seem to help, but I am trying to work on it.  :)  This one will be quite short because I have to go somewhere, but I'll post again later today.

//Temperance//

I wanted to get up and move to see how I could help--I could smell blood somewhere--but my vision was still hazy from Slumber and my muscles were stiff.  Someone was injured and it didn't seem to be Aalton.  He came hurring back and lifted my head gently.  "Temp?  Temp look at me, this is important."

It's very hard to glare at someone when you can't see properly.  "I can't see yet, Aalton," I said, flexing a hand slowly, trying to work some feeling back into my fingers.  Rhi still held onto my other hand; her shakes hadn't stopped.  "Sit me up, will you?"

He lifted me into an upright position, leaning against his chest and laid something on my lap.  "As soon as you can, I need you to look at this," he said.  "It's a Book of the Dead."

"I don't want anything more to do with the dead," I muttered and felt Rhi squeeze my hand.  Aalton rubbed my arm supportively.

"Ash is dead, Temp," he whispered and I felt my stomach drop away.  I reached out a hand to pat the horse next to me and felt Aalton shake his head next to me.  "That's Midnight.  Ash fell over the edge.  He's at the bottom of the Rift."
