Ok, NAME. Sorry about the misunderstanding! ;)

Annie

Iput down A Separate Peace andsnuggled under the covers. I did my usual bed routine and turned to look at theclock.

AuntSue opened the door and whispered: “Good night.” I looked at the clock again.10:45pm.

Islowly got up and pulled on the jeans that I’d laid out on a chair. Then I puton my orange tank top and a green sweatshirt that said Go Scorpions on it. Jess, Emma and Katie had written poems, wordsand signed it. The shirt was a keepsake, which I always wore outside of school.

Iopened the door of my room and slipped into the hall. I tied my plaid converse, grabbed a house key and went out the door.

Afterrunning down the three flights of stairs, I jumped on my bike and rode down thestreet. The soft night wind blew my hair.

Afterabout ten minutes I came to Emma’s house. It was cape-cod style and the gardenwas perfectly mown. Its’ porch was dark but I could see a small light comingfrom Emma’s window.

Iswung of my bike and parked next to Katie and Jess’ bikes. I climbed up thesmall garden house that was under Emma’s window.

Istood on tiptoes and knocked on the window twice. I waited a moment and thewindow was pushed open. Emma grabbed my arms and pulled me up.

Istepped into her large room and walked towards the closet. I went towards theback of the closet and turned the small black knob on the door. The others weresitting around in a circle.

Thesquare was lit up with lights that we had hung up on the walls. The floor wascovered in wood paneling. The walls were covered with pictures, souvenirs, prizes, documents and a few shelves that were lined with different knick-knacks.Four beanbags were on the floor, two of which Jess and Katie had already taken.

Iplumped down on a purple beanbag and took the file out of my small backpack.

“So,”I started. “Let’s see what this is about.”

Great Admin! I'm glad you like it! What's with the 8:20 pm? And is CDT live your induvidual inicials? (BTW I accidentally posted as if Katie's house was the meeting place, sorry! *Is embarrassed*

Jess-

Annie looked at the folder. Everyone was still absorbed in the thought of the blood (Admin, the blood was on the sink in the art room). "Okay, so it says, wait it's pictures and profiles. The janitor's has a red stamp. It says terminated." We all exchanged a nervous glance. "Anything else?" I asked. "Ya, there's- Uh-oh." She gulped. "What?" Katie asked. "There's one for Jess too. It, um, it says under current state, processing." "WHAT?!" I shouted. I ripped the paper out of Annie's hand. "There are also ones for Emma, Kite, and me. But they musta been in that order for a reason. Maybe Jess is next?" she wondered aloud. "Hey!" I shouted. "SHHHH! My parents are asleep across the hall!" Emma put her hand over my mouth. "Right, sorry," I whispered smiling apologetically. "Well what are we going to do?" I asked. Annie shrugged. "One thing's for sure. We have to keep Jess and ourselves away from the staff. Don't go near them unless you HAVE to. And only with witnesses around. New rule, we go everywhere together. Always have a witness around, so they never have a chance," Annie whispered. We nodded. "Got it. Stay away. Not a problem," I muttered. "What about gym?" I asked. "What do you mean?" Emma asked. "Well, I have to be out for three days. They could ask me to do something alone. What do I do then?" I asked. They thought for a minute. "Hey, how about always ask for someone to go with you!" I nodded. "Okay, what about the dance this Saturday? It'll be dark, no one will notice if one of us is just sucked out of the dance. What then?" I asked. "Like I said, stick together," Annie said. "What if we get asked?" I asked. I was secretly, well not too secretly hoping that Matt would ask me. Katie grinned. "You just want Matt to ask you." "Ya, cause you're so in love!" Emma added. "Clark," I said. She blushed and backed off. "But I'm serious. What happens then?" "Our date's the witness, and if we need to go to the bathroom, take a friend. We all have to be nearby." We all agreed. I was scared. If I was next, what could I really do to stop them? Could I stop them? They'd already done it once, they weren't afraid to try again. Then another thought struck me, who were they exactly?

Jess, the next one to be killed, possibly. What was happening? Why had the janitorbeen killed? Why were all of us next?

“Guys,we need suspects… And Jess, Emma the art room must be where he was murdered. How did we not notice?” Everyone shook their heads in dismay.

“Weneed to get into school after hours.” Katie said. The others nodded. “How willwe get in?” Emma asked. I thought for a moment. “I know it! Aunt Sue works atthe school. She has keys. Maybe she’ll have the art room key…” I trailed off.

Jessseemed excited. “Yes! Perfect! Annie you get the keys… hmmm… Our plans ourgood, but I’m still worried. What if we some how get alone?” Her voice wasworried.

Thesmall closet became quiet. Everyone was thinking. “Pepper spray!” I exclaimed.

Theothers looked at me as if I were a Martian or something. Where the heck wouldwe get pepper spray?

Asif she’d read my mind, Katie answered.

“Mydad has a supply. He makes me take it when I go out on my own.”

Wegiggled. I looked at the small clock on the wall.

11.30pm.I had to go home.

“Onemore thing, who wants to buy dresses tomorrow?”

“Ohyeah! I almost forgot! Sure. Let’s say afterschool?” Jess said.

“Yeahsure. Oh and bring the pepper spray Katie!”

Wewalked out of the closet and waved good-bye to Emma. After that we climbed outthe window and departed.

On the ride back to my house I wondered about what we had learned. It didn't make any sense. Why were we on that list?

I was almost home when I thought I saw someone. I had just glanced to the side to see if there was anyone and the figure just disappeared. Of course that would be pretty easy considering how dark it was tonight.

I reached my house and put my bike in the garage. I slipped inside and went quietly up to my room. I fell down on my bed exhausted.

***

I got up at 6:30 as usual, got dressed, made myself some toast, and went out the door for a morning bike ride. I had taken my backpack and had put the pepper spray inside; a bottle for each of us.

I usually rode around till school started. This morning I saw Jess riding up ahead. I had never seen any of my friends riding around this early. I pedaled faster to try to catch up with her.

Sorry this sort of ended abruptly.

Annie

Iwoke up in my warm covers. The lavender walls of my bedroom glowed in the sunlight. I could smell the waft of eggs and bacon.

I stepped out of bed and pushed my feet into the little knit slippers next to my bed. The clock said 6:00.

I walked out into the hall and crossed into the small kitchen.

The walls were yellow and the floor was covered in grayish tiles. The countertops were polished wood.

Aunt Sue stood next to the stove and two plates were set on the little round kitchen table. I poured two glasses of orange juice.

“How did you sleep dear?” Aunt Sue asked sweetly. “Fine,” I lied. I dug into the warm breakfast. I noticed that I was extremely hungry from last night. I ate every last bit of food and brought the plate to the sink.

“You’re in a hurry!” Aunt Sue exclaimed. “I still have to take my shower!” I called from the hall.

I put my blow-dried bangs in a barrette. Then I pulled on some dark blue jeans, a purple tank top and a white cardigan.

I stuffed the file in my bag and just in case I took a red Swiss Army Knife.

I yelled bye to Aunt Sue and walked out the door. It was about 6:45. Katie was probably already on her morning ride, waiting for one of us to come out.

I unlocked my bike and swung onto it. I saw Katie at the end of the street. I rode up to her. She was breathing heavily.

“What’s up?” I asked. “I saw Jess riding down the street. I tried to catch up to her but then she was gone.” I looked at Katie, worried. We were both thinking the same thing.

“We have to find Emma!” I yelled. We biked over to Emma’s house as fast as we could.

We hid our bikes behind the garden house and Katie gave me a boost up. She came behind me.

I knocked on the window twice and peered through the curtains. I recognized a face. Her mother's.

“Quick, duck!” I hissed. We lay flat on the garden house not daring to breath.

Her mother opened the window. “Emma, did you notice two faces at the window? It was almost as if… No, it couldn’t be.” Emma’s mother looked around and closed the window again.

I saw her leave the room. Emma waited for a moment and then ran to the window.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

Katie and I told her the circumstances. We planned to meet in five minutes.

This was bad. We were all out looking for Jess now. We couldn't find her anywhere and school was going to start. I hadn't had the chance to tell Emma and Annie about the person I had thought I had seen last night.

I had given Emma and Annie there little bottles before we had gone out searching since we wouldn't be together. But what about Jess, what would she do if they caught her, whoever they were.

I checked my watch. It was 8:45, 15 minutes till school started. I went to the place we had decided to meet. A little coffee place near the school. The other two were already there and no sign of Jess.

"I see you haven't found her," I said. "No, I was hoping you had. I think we should search for another 10 minutes then I think we will have to go to school," Annie said. "Agreed," Emma and I replied.

I got back on my bike, hoping I would find Jess.

Sorry this isn't very good.

Jess-

Okay, stupid idea to bike to school alone. I was okay right now, I'd almost made it to school. I continued on knowing it was only about a minute and a half until I was in the clear. Suddenly hands grabbed me. They pulled me off my bike, and into the bushes. "Hey, watch it!" I snapped as my light blue tunic that was open to reveal Miami Dolphins blue Hollister shirt was almost ripped on a branch. It was worn over dark jeans and my hair was different. My mom had taken me to get it cut this morning. Thats why I was in such a hurry to get to school. It was still long straitened, but now it had diagonaly cut bangs on the left side (I don't mean to steel anyones idea, I just really like this idea!). I looked at the man who had grabbed me. It was, um, a guy in a mask? "Yes?" I asked, really scared to death, but trying not to show it. "You needed me?" He just glared, well it seamed like he was glaring, the mask was covering his whole face so I couldn't tell who he was. "Don't worry, I am only here to warn you. You must not go anywhere without someone at your side. You are next." He said in a deep voice. "Why am I next, and why was the janitor first?" I asked. "I cannot tell you why the janitor was first, but I can tell you that you are next because you are just like him. You are the cause of almost the same danger." I stared. "Um, come agian? And uh, who wants to kill me?" I sounded like a child, or like the weird guy in all those super hero shows who cracks all the jokes. "I can't tell you who wants you dead, but I can tell you that they are willing to kill thousands, as long as they get to kill you. One more thing, your friends come right after you, and they are willing to do the same to kill them." His deep voice was seriously creeping me out. "Wait, why them? My friends?" i asked. "Because they pose a threat aswell. But none of you are the same amount of a threat as the janitor." He muttered the last words, almost to himself, but not completely. "Go, now, before they wonder what's happened to you." I ran outa the bushes ASAP, I hopped on my bike, and peddled ASAP. Then I chained my bike to the school bike rack. And sat on a stair. Soon Emma, Katie, and Annie apeared. "JESS!" They shouted. "So glad you're alive!" Emma ghasped for breath. "What, of course I'm alive!" I laughed. Then their faces became serious. "We thought they'd gotten ya." Katie whispered. "No, but I did find out something interesting." I told them the story start to finish, the whole time they listened in silence.

This is getting exciting!

//Katie//

As we biked to the mall I though about possible suspects, but when we reached the mall I hadn't gotten anywhere.

We put our bikes in the bike racks and went inside. It was crowded as usual.

"I think we should try Macy's first" I suggested. "Sounds good," Emma said. We walked in and went to the juniors department.

Jess went around trying to find the least girly dress. I found a beautiful knee-length dress. It was a soft lavender color with a pleated skirt and a rouched bodice with an empire waist and short frilly sleeves.

"I think we should each find a dress then try them on at the same time" I suggested. They agreed.

When they had found their dresses we went into the dressing room.

Sorry this is so short.

Silence followed at the end of Jess’s story. I felt scared and my heart felt like ithad gone into my throat. I swallowed hard.

“How are you going to get out of the house?” I asked.

“Well, you guys aren’t in danger yet so someone has to pick me up. Then we can do our normal thing.” Jess answered. Her voice was light and cheery. I couldn’t believe that what she’d told us had just happened.

I heard the five till bell ring and we jumped up and ran inside.

“Are we still going shopping afterschool?” Katie asked.

“Of course!”

We walked close together and huddled slightly, each trying to protect the other.

When we got into history and Mr. Macapelo glared at us.

“So,”He looked at his watch. “31 seconds and 2 mili seconds late. This means you’llhave to stay in during lunch. Too bad!” He walked back to the board waving hisduck.

As the teacher told us about Alexander the Great, I tore a piece of paper from my notebook.

“I think this guy’s gone crazy. Pass it on.” I slid it over to Katie and she smiled and gave it to Emma. Emma gave it to Jess and she laughed out loud.

Mr.Macapelo swerved around.

Jess hid the paper under her desk and looked up in innocence.

“WHO WAS THAT?!” He yelled. Everyone was quiet. No one dared to make a peep.

He squinted at each of us and waved his rubber ducky.

“AsI was saying…”

The bell rang and I rushed out of music with Katie. We met Jess and Emma on thestairs and swung up onto our bikes and pedaled to the mall.

Jess-

We laughed at the mall about the History lesson. "I'm surprised he didn't recognise my voice!" I laughed. We all laughed harder. "Like I said, he's crazy!" Annie laughed. We all laughed so hard, I nearly fell over. When we finally calmed down we were at Old Navy. "Well I can't belive we're still gettin' stuff here," I said in my loud voice. "Ya, well, we could go to Areopastel," Emma suggested. "Ya!" I shouted. We walked across the mall and into Areo. When we walked in we split up. Annie and Katie went together, and Emma and I. "Here." I held up a hot pink flowey dress to Emma. "For me?" she asked. "Course, didja think I was wearing pink?" We laughed. "You got the pepper spray right?" I nodded. "Then we should shop separately; if you get in any trouble text me." I nodded. Then I looked around. it took me about a minute and a half to find the perfect dress. It was aqua, it went to my ankles, but it wasn't a huge flowey wedding dress, it was perfect. It came with open-toed high heels. I was probably gonna wear my sneakers though. I don't know if you've noticed but I'm a typical tomboy. So dresses weren't really my thing, but I liked this one. I texted Emma.

Hey Em, found a dress. Meet me @ the dressin rms. & bring urs. LOL mine comes w/ heels! Can u imagine?! HAHAHA! ;)

I waited about 30 secconds before Emma texted back.

LOL sounds gr8! Can't wait 2 c it. Hey, mine is actualy pink. Imagine that?

I laughed. Then I texted back;

I can toats c u in pink ;) HAHAHA!

This is what came back.

:P

I laughed and walked over to the dressing rooms. All of them were there. Emma, Katie, and Annie. I held up my dress. "Whatdya think?" I asked.
