I grabbed a seat in circular caf. I smoothed my caramel-colored skirt and set my tray down. All the walls, er, the only wall on the rounded cafeteria was made from windows, and the midday desert sunlight shone on my face. The two dorm towers shown off in the distance, both on different parts of campus, the classrooms high up in the air. Students bustled around, packing, hugging, or looking around with a lost look. Newbies, I thought with a chuckle. This was our last year here, so we pretty much ruled the school. Some stores cluttered on the east side of school, near the girls dorm. Girls were running around there, looking for new clothes for the school year. An entertainment center was towards the west side, near the boys dorm. On the north side, there was the entrance, where black cars were pulling up to drop some more students off. Next to the entrance was the administration building, where kids were lining up to get their schedules. I turned my head to look at the south side of the campus, where there were fields for the ostriches that each kid got to raise, for responsibility training or something. My ostrich was a two-year-old wild male named Rome. He ran along the fence, outrunning some of his friends. Students sat near fountains and archways, catching up with their friends. I laughed with the others at my table, yawning as the sun moved across the sky. I excused myself to finish packing in my room. I walked out of the caf and towards my dorm and saw a girl looking up, confused, to the towers. "Hey, excuse me?" she yelled and waved her hand towards me. "What's up?" I asked. "Well, I'm new here, and I walked up to that really tall lady in the admin building and she gave me a piece of paper with the number 16 on it and a key and she told me to go here and try and find other people and I can't find any other people with a number 16 and-" "Whoa, slow down! Don't worry. My name's Callen. That tall lady was Mrs. Hale. She's the girl's dorm director; she makes sure that lights are out at 10 and no boys. She's really stirct, but cool. The number 16 is your room number. I have it too. You're my roommate. The classes for third years are above the girls dorm, and the classes for first and second are above the boys dorm. The key is for you, and one more girl will be in our room. Don't worry. I'll show you around." "Thanks! I just got here. My name is Eli. You have no idea how relieved I am since I met you. What's with the ostriches?" I laughed. "Oh, those are for responsibility training. We each get one after our first two weeks; you'll get yours soon. I'll have to introduce you to Rome soon; he's my boy." She laughed and together, we walked towards room 16. I told her all about the teachers and the campus. "Oh, and before you meet her, stay away from Henria Adreda. She follows everyone and thinks that everyone is her best friend, but no one likes her." I shoved my key into the door and opened it, revealing a boring plain room with boxes of stuff. Only two beds were there, so I guess it was just me and Eli. Two tall beds were on either side of the room, with desks under them and ladders going up to the bed. A small trashcan was next to each bed, and next to the beds were walk-in closets. Hangers and shoe bins were in each of them, and our suitcases were in the center of the room. A bathroom door was in front of us, and a mini kitchen was in the corner. Two large windows were next to the bathroom, facing campus. You could see everything, including the desert far off in the distance. I flopped down on a bed, claiming it mine. Eli started to unpack, and I fell asleep on my first day at GenkuSuh.

Wow you guys, I loved reading your character and I think it's going to make an awesome story. Don't QUIT. Please do this. I have seen a lot of unfinished threads that had great ideas, so please finish it!!

I would post more, like with classes and such, but I don't know what type of classes they would have at GenkuSuh.

Good! I'll try to post somtime this weekend. Oh, and ALL rooms have 4 people. We're just waiting for more people to join. XD

Okay, so if it has to be a four-person room, I'm going to redesign our room.

So, instead of having one room, how about in the dorm there are separate rooms? Or it could just be a REALLY big room. Anyways, if it was just a big room, then it'll be the same of how I described it before, but instead of having one bed on a wall, the room'll be bigger so that if you enter the room on one wall there is a small closet, bed with desk under it, closet, bed. On the wall right in front of the room there is a bookshelf and two huge windows.  In the right corner is a door to the bathroom and the right wall is the same as the left one. The floor is shined wood and a big blue fuzzy circle rug is in the center.

How about the classes are like: Math, English, Science (Biology, Chemistry, etc.), Gym, free period, History, and one period to take care of the ostriches. That good? Anything to add?

The walls were white and newly painted walls. Three bunk beds were set on the left wall. Next to each one was a cherry wood bed table with a small lamp. Above the top bunk was a small light connected to the wall for reading. On the other side of the wall was a small door, probably for storage. A few hooks were nailed to the wall and a desk looked out of the east window. The room was filled with light and the wooden floors shone gold in the light.

I'm thinking all the rooms would be the same, except perhaps the arrangment of the furniture and the color of the walls. Is that O.K. with everyone?

I woke up in the top bunk of room 14. There were only 3 girls in our room right now, me, Alamea, and Lilly, but that didn't worry me. There were 3 days given for students to arrive.  This was only day two, so we had another 2 days for our last roommate to arrive. I looked up at the black and white photograph of me and my little sister standing in front of our old house in SemThas, a small farming town of Kyriah. I was so excited that day, it was the day I learned I would be going to GenkuSuh, which meant we would be moving to StenSoj, the capitol of Kyriah. It was a big accomplishment for our family, since we didn't have a lot of money.

I rolled over onto my stomach and crawled to the edge. I grabbed the ladder and climbed down. I walked over to the closet, witch had 4 dressers in it. I opened the one with my clothes in it. I closed the closet door to change into my uniform then quietly slipped out the door to make my way down to breakfast.

Is it too late for me to join?

I rolled over on my amazingly comfortable bed and flopped down onto the wooden floors, rattling my bed side table. "WHAZZA?!?!" Eli jumped out of her bed and yelled, pointing a finger gun at me. I rubbed my eyes, then looked at the big wall clock I had put up. 8:43. I jumped up, dragged Eliout of bed, and pointed at the clock. The cafeterai closes at 9. I jumped into the shower and five minutes later Eli was doing the same. I shoved on my uniform and grabbed my wallet and a jacket. As I swung my jacket over the desk chair, something swooshed off my bed side table and onto my mattress. Jumping, I dove and caught it before it could ever bounce off and ever reach the floor. It was a picture of my mother and father, before the died. We were all sitting on a boat, cruising down a river, passing little farm towns in the Kyriah desert. Dad and Jacob were pushing the boat and talking about fixing the hole in the roof, mom, she was holding little baby Elese, who was crying to the rocking of the boat. And me, well, I was around five then. I was holding the small camera, taking photographs of everyhting I could see. Eli finished getting ready and together, we walked towards the cafeteria.

About the classes, i think they should be the usaul except for the responsibility training and etiquette. And I think the dancing classes should be a different kind of dancing. I am not sure exactly what.

Will they have started classes yet or will classes start only once the rest of the students arrive? If so does that mean that they get to do anything they like during this time? 

Princess P, it's not too late to join. Kat would have to confirm, but I am pretty sure you can. I think you will be in room 14.

It was 7:15 when I got up. I had had a restful sleep and was excited to start the day. I was particularly excited about starting dancing again. I had practiced all through the summer.

I saw that Jasmine was already awake and dressed in her uniform, but Alamea was still in bed asleep. I went over to the closet and grabbed my clothes and toiletries and went off to take a shower.  I took a quick one and blow-dried my hair afterwards. After it was dry I put it up in its usual braid on top of my head. After my teeth were brushed and I was dressed, I went back to our room to find that Alamea was there braiding her hair.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" I asked.

"All right. You?"

"Very well. Do you want to go to breakfast with me?" I glanced at the clock. It was almost 8, so we still had a hour.

"Sure," she said. I grabbed my satchel and we went downstairs. 

The cafeteria was full of students. We sat down at our table. It had our room numbers on little stands in the center of the table. These stands would be removed for lunch so students could sit where they liked. The stands would be put back at dinner.

Jas was already at the table eating what looked to be French toast and sausage. On the table there was also a bottle of stuff that I had only ever had once before, maple syrup. I sat down and put two pieces of French toast on my plate and several sausages and drizzled the syrup on the toast. I took a bite and sighed with contentment. They must have shipped this stuff for a start-of-school treat.

I looked up and saw that Alamea was digging in to her own plate of food. I looked to see if Callen had come to her table yet and saw that she hadn't. I hoped she wasn't going to be miss breakfast.

I didn't really know what to put after that because I don't know if they have classes yet or not.  Was what I put about the tables okay?

I walked down the pathway through GenkuSuh and towards the caf. Jacob ran up next to us. "Hey Jacob. How're your roommates?" He flipped his hair out of his eyes and punched me playfully. "Ya know, same same. Not the worst. Yours?" Eli spoke up. "I'm Eli Clinkon. I'm new here and her roommate." Jacob peered around me to look at her. "Oh, hey. I'm Jacob Inglecton. Twin brother of Callen, star ostrich rider, great cook, and my favorite thing to do on a weekend is sit down with a good book." "Oh. My. Jacob! Do you have to hit on all of my friends? I'm so sorry Eli. Let's go before the cafeteria closes." Eli blushed but continued walking towards the caf. "Hey guys!" I spotted Lily, Jasmine, and Alamea walking from the cafeteria towards the ostrich center. I checked my watch, 8:54. "Gosh, we  have to go. Chat later, 'k?" Eli and I ran towards the food line and collapsed onto our table, scarfing everything down before we had to be kicked out.

Wow, this is really good. :) Got room for another girl?
