The bus pulled up to GenkuSuh Boarding School at 9:00 A.M., right on time. I paid my bus fare and stepped out of the bus into the platform. I looked around for my twin sister, Eli, but didn't see her. I assumed that she had already made a few friends and was probably hanging out with them. Eli and I had some differences and lots of similarities. One of our similarities was that we were both very outgoing, but always loyal to each other, so it didn't really worry me that she was probably out with her friends. We hadn't arrived together since she wanted to leave right away to get settled in, and I still had to finish packing, having been busy all week with my extra credit schoolwork. I tried the doors to the school, and found that they were locked. I looked around for someone to ask, and, to my great relief, saw three girls walking together towards a fenced in area with some sort of large birds with long legs inside. I ran up to them and stepped into line. "Hi, I'm Kataira. I'm new here. It's my first year."

"I'm Lily," a tall, slender girl introduced herself. I couldn't help but stare at her. She had smooth olive skin that went together nicely with her green eyes. She had long black hair braided into a crown on top of her head. "This is Jasmine," she went on, gesturing to a pretty, tan girl with dark brown hair. "And this is Alamea," she said, pointing to a girl that I could tell was quiet by nature. She had caramel colored skin, grey eyes, and dark brown, curly hair in a long braid down her back.

"Hi!" I smiled. "Hey, do you know how to get in there? The doors are locked. Well, at least those ones are," I said, gesturing to the doors. The girl called Lily laughed.

"That's because those are the side doors!" she laughed. "I'll show you to the front doors. Jasmine, Alamea, you go on ahead. I'll meet you back at the room in half an hour. I'm going to show Kataira around." Jasmine replied,

"Sure, go on ahead. Meet you there!" Lily showed me over to the doors.

"By the way, have you seen a girl named Eli, like me, just slightly shorter?" I asked.

"Yeah," replied Lily. "She and a girl named Callen were last seen scarfing down their breakfast in the lunchroom. Apparently they slept in," she smiled.

"Thanks!" I told her. "Hey, is that okay if I find out which room I'm in, get settled, and then go find Eli?"

"Sure!" she said. "I'll show you around, if you'd like." Lily directed me to one of the classrooms where we found a young woman Lily called Miss Alana. She handed me a paper. Fourteen was what it said. "What did you get?" Lily asked. I showed her the paper.

"Hey, you're in the same room as Jasmine, Alamea, and me!" she said. "Here, I'll show you where it is."  Lily lead me up two flights of stairs and down a long hallway.

"I was wondering, do you know if Eli is in our room?" I asked.

"No, I don't think so," she replied.

"Do you know which one she is in?"

"Ummm…I think she's in sixteen. That's the one right next to us."

"Oh, okay. I guess it's good that she's next to me. It's better than being a floor above me!" Lily laughed.

"That's for sure! Are you both used to being together?"

"Yes," I confessed. "We shared a room when Ma and Papa were alive, and we shared one at the orphanage, too, but I guess it's okay. Hopefully we'll be in the same classes."

"That's the spirit!" Lily said. "Oh, we're here now. This is our room." I looked up at the door and saw a brass nameplate with the number fourteen engraved on it. I turned the handle and went in.

"I'm on the top bunk closest to the door," Lily said.

"Is that okay if I take the bed under you?" I asked.

"Sure!" Lily smiled. I plopped my bad on the bunk. Lily climbed onto her bunkbed and opened up a book. I started putting my clothes away. In a few minutes, I had finished. "Ready?" Lily asked. We went to the room next to us and knocked. A girl looking exactly like me opened the door.

"Kataira!" she exclaimed.

"Eli!" I exclaimed back. We embraced and Eli laughed.

"I missed you!" she told me.

"We were only separated for one day, you know," I reminded my twin.

"Yeah, but I still missed you," she told me. I laughed and we hugged again.

"Can I meet your roommates?" I asked.

"Sure!" Eli said. She led me into the room. Lily tapped my back.

"Hey, I'm going to go back to the room to wait for Alamea and Jasmine, okay?" she asked.

"Sure!" I said. "I'll meet you back over there when I'm done."

"Okay!" said Lily. "See you later!"

"Bye!" I replied. Eli pulled my arm.

"Come on!" she said. She led me into the room. "These are Callen, Aika, and Karanah." She pointed to three girls, each sitting on their bunks. Callen was the first person that I had met, besides Eli and me, that had pale skin. She was petite with light brown hair in a ponytail. Her eyes were stranger than any I had ever seen. My first look, they were blue, but as I looked closer, they changed to green, and then back to blue. I wondered if she were a fairy, but I dismissed the thought immediately. Karanah had long, wavy gold hair in a long braid down her back. She was very tall with tanned skin. Aika had caramel skin, hazel eyes, medium length hair, and slanted bangs. Callen was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, which came as a surprise to me, since I thought that we were all to wear uniforms. When I mentioned it to her, she just shrugged and smiled sheepishly.

"Yeah, you're supposed to wear uniforms all the time, but I figure that I can wear whatever I want in the room, as long as I change when I go back out," she replied.

"Jasmine and her are the only ones who do that, as far as I know. No one else does it, and I don't really recommend doing it. You could get in big trouble with Mrs. Hale. She's really strict, but can be nice if you stay on her good side," Aika commented.

"Oops, we had better be heading down to the cafeteria.  It closes at noon, and it's eleven thirty now," Karanah commented.

"Okay, see you down there!" I said.

"Bye!" Eli called as I was walking out the door.

Those are great classes! Imma gonna post now :D

//Callen//

I jumped off of my bunk bed with ease and hardly shook the wooden floor. I smoothed my sweats, then rememberd to change. I ran into the closet, grabbed a uniform, and closed the door, not bothering to go into the bathroom. In record time, I was grabbing my purse and rushing out the door and out of our tower. All of a sudden Jacob and Baneir ran up to me. "Jacob, what's up? Um, hey, Banier." He nodded towards me, and Jacob, breathing heavily, panted, "Rome...you have too...he...sick!" I turned even paler and dropped my stuff. "Omigosh!" I yelled, running full speed towards the ostrich stables. I didn't care about getting to lunch, about classes, even about the people I was running into. I just needed to get to Rome before anything bad happened. Mr. Eiwen was pacing across the yard. "MR. EIWEN!!" I yelled. "Oh, Callen. You have to go in there. The vet is already there; he's doing as much as he can." I pushed beside him and ran towards Rome's box. A vet was in there, and a crowd was already forming. Tears stung my eyes as I pushed my way into his stall. "Excuse, miss, but you are not permitted-" "He's my ostrich, okay. I'll be here as long as I want to be here." I slowly stretched out my hand and stroked his neck. "What's wrong with him?" I tried to fight back the tears. "Well, he got in a fight with some of the older ostriches. Part of his foot is broken and his wing is torn." I made a strange squeaking noise when he held up Rome's wing. The feathers were falling out and it was torn and bloody. "Which one did this. Where is he? WHERE?!" Mr. Eiwen walked in and pushed me down into a chair. "The owner will be arriving here shortly. Her ostrich is being checked over for injuries on the other side of the building. She will be here soon." She. I wonder if it was anyone that I knew.

@PP-- That was really good! I liked how you explained everyone!

 Here are my two posts!

Alamea-

Kataira walked back into the room with a bounce in her step. She smiled sweetly at me, and I had the feeling I’d get along with her well.

As we walked down to lunch I decided to talk with her.

“Are you new here? I mean I never saw you . . . ,” I said quietly. Kataira twisted her strawberry blond braid absentmindedly. “Eli and I are new. You see our parents died when we were ten and then we went to our Aunt Ethel, but she put us in an orphanage but the orphanage closed so we got sent here.” I looked at her sympathetically. “I’m sorry about your parents. You’re lucky though. My parents . . . Well, I never really had any. I’ve always lived with Nora who I call Aunt Nora. She sent me here because I wasn’t proper.” I rolled my eyes slightly at the last bit.

Kataira’s bright blue eyes softened as I told her.

“I couldn’t bare never knowing my parents.”

I looked at my hands, saying nothing.

Lily, noticing my sad face, stopped and waited for us to catch up. She then patted me carefully on the back.

We stepped into the buzzing cafeteria and walked towards the long line of students waiting for their lunch.

I took a small bowl of salad, fried fish and brought it to a table near the front. Eli was already sitting there with Kataira. I felt odd seeing how similar they were.

Soon Lily squeezed in next to me. Callen and Jasmine slipped into their seats shortly after.

I started to bite a large green salad leaf when I heard a tinkling of glasses. Looking up, I noticed Mrs. Hale standing primly at the front on a sort of wooden pedestal.

“Welcome students!” She greeted us cheerily and looked around with her dark brown hawk eyes. It was time for her opening speech.

“Welcome students,” Mrs. Hale said again as the cafeteria went quiet. “Welcome to a new year at GenkuSah Boarding School. To all of those who are new, I hope you feel at home.”

“Yeah right,” Jasmine hissed.

Mrs. Hale smiled a white toothy smile. “As usual, you will all be getting your schedules today. To all the girls and boys, please inform your floor’s counselor as to which musical instrument you want to play by the twenty-first of August. If any of you want to take extra courses, please inform your floor’s counselor by the twenty-first. Now, I wish you good eating and we shall see each other soon.” Then Mrs. Hale turned from the pedestal and started to click away on her blue high heals.

Banier—

I dashed up the steps to the prison gates of the school I hated so much. Yes, yes I knew that I had to go and that Camden couldn’t take care of me the whole year, but I wasn’t a baby. I was thirteen but I couldn’t do anything about this.

I took a glimpse at my coal-black watch. On seeing the time I rushed towards the doors. I was already ten minutes late and by the time I got to the cafeteria I’d be even later. I imagined Mrs. Hale’s angry face glaring at me nastily and I sped up.

I pushed open the door and walked into the filled room.

I was hoping to make an unknown entrance, but I should’ve known that I’d have bad luck.

Everyone turned to me as the doors closed with a heavy bang. Mrs. Hale, who was at the front, also stared at me.

I must’ve been quite a sight. My jeans were stained and ripped, while my shirt was hanging creased. My sandy blonde hair was even more messy than usual and my bag was alongside of me instead of stowed in my too clean dorm room.

I noticed some girls roll their eyes and whisper some things.

Then I slowly turned my face to Mrs. Hale. Her lips were twitching and her eyes were furious.

“Good day, Egan. I’ll see you in my office.” With that she turned and primly left.

“Banier!” I saw Jacob’s familiar face and his long pale arm waving.

I seated myself next to him and he gave me a strong pat on the back.

“I almost thought you weren’t coming, man!” Jacob ran his long fingers through his light brown hair. “The gals this year are amazing!” he exclaimed.

I smiled at this remark. Jacob had probably forgotten Elizabeth by now but he was right. I skimmed around and noticed the table of girls from earlier. They were huddling close together. I made a mental note to talk to them later.

“Have you talked to any of them from over there?” I asked.

“Oh yeah. You seriously have to see them. My sister’s in that pack though,” he told me. His voice turned slightly annoyed at the last statement.

I sighed slightly. Callen and Jacob were twins but two different people. Except for the fact that she was a girl and he, a boy, there were still a million differences. Callen always was embarrassed when Jacob was around and they were constantly bickering. They got along pretty well at times.

I got up and walked over to the lunch severs. I took a giant portion of potatoes, beans, and chili. I then turned around and trudged back to Jacob.

Elizabeth M., I like your classes ideas. Kataira takes French, Latin, and Spanish for language. Eli takes only Latin. For music, Kataira takes harp (and teaches herself piano and violin), and Eli takes piano (and teaches herself violin since it's what she LOVES to do. Piano, not so much). Kataira takes Theater, and Eli takes Chorus. Maybe boys could have archery or fencing. If you need more special classes for all, maybe we could do horseback riding!

Sarah K., do you want to make your character profile?

I can't see Elizabeth M.'s post yet, but I can't wait until I can! Meanwhile, I'll be working on my next post.

Okay, well, I don't have time to write much now, but I'll make myself a character.

Name: Artemis ?(Somebody help me, I can't think of a last name!)

Age: 14
Personality: Shy, very smart, generally follows the rules, nice, sticks up for other people.
Appearence: Small, short brown hair, thin, glasses

Other: She is an orphan, who now lives with a foster family.

You all are really great writers. I really liked how you made everybody's personality show.

Elizabeth M, your classes were really great, but for dance I was thinking something like persian dance or something of that sort. We can have some of the other sort too, so that the students are well rounded. And the languages should include I think something eastern, if that makes sense. The other languages are good too.

I will post something when I have finished reading the other post. If it's okay I will make a second character. I don't know how I will do because I don't know how to type as if I where a boy.

Name: Darius Amiri

Age: 13

Personality: Quiet, not shy, just doesn't talk a lot. Good at almost all sports and suprisinglyloves to listen to music though not good at playing instruments.

Appearance: Tall, muscular; 5'11" ( I know it doesn't seem likely that a 13 year old would be almost 6' ,but I know some people who are practically that) short, wavy black hair and hazel eyes. Persian features(Not Iranian).

Other: Only child since his mother died when he was two. Father raises him alone. Spends all his free time playing sports.

Is that good?

After finishing reading all your posts I think you are Amazing writers. I like your idea Princess P for Archery and all. I think they should have all sorts of sports including discus and javeline throwing which I think they have at some schools just modernized. Horseback riding is also a good idea. I think it should be for both boys and girls and I don't think they should have to wear helmets.

@ Sarah K.: Basara and Tahan might be good last names.

Lily's classes are as follows

Normal Classes: Algebra, English/Literature, History,
Geography, Biology, Responsibility lessons, Art, Language; French  and, if it's okay, Arabic.

Special Classes:  Her instrument is the flute. She does dancing(obvouisly) especially persian dancing (If that is all right) etiquette, and horseback riding. She also sings in the chorus and sometimes solos with a soprano voice

Darius classes are these. Do you mind if he plays all the sports I mentioned and others mentioned?

Normal Classes: Algebra, English/Literature, History,
Geography, Biology, Responsibility lessons, Art, Language; Latin, Italian

Special Classes: Guitar is his instrument. Darius plays every sport they have to offer. He sings in the chorus with a tenor voice.

@Sarah K.-- What do you think of Lias? Or Barba?

So, I am going to add: archery to boys classes and fencing and horseback riding to special classes. So, what do you guys think of this for a normal school day schedule:

6:00 am-7:30 am = Washing and dressing...

7:45 am-8:45 am= Breakfast

9:00 am-2:00 pm= Classes

2:00-2:45= Lunch

3:00=School's out!

And is it OK if there are new classes everyday? And each class is two hours?

The special classes are considered afterschool activities.

Alamea: I already listed everything she takes except special so here they are: Fencing, Horseback Riding and Chorus

Banier: Special Classes: Fencing
