RP, anyone? I

Chatterbox: Inkwell

RP, anyone? I

RP, anyone? I thought that we should have another RP that's not based on a book/series. We take turns writing a piece of the story from our character's point of view, just like always.

(I say Ashling here, but that's not her name. You'll understand in a minute.)

Ashling--

"Rise." I tried and failed again to get the flames to do my bidding. I scowled at them, but they did nothing. "Rise!" I tried once more, and once more they ignored me. I glared at them.

"The flames here do not speak. I silenced them myself, many years ago, under Mistress' orders," Edan said, and I noticed him for the first time.

"How long have you been standing there?" I asked him.

"Long enough," he said, moving out of the doorway and into the corridor. I exited my small room and walked with him through the empty manor. Mistress was away, and she had taken most of her servants with her. We passed only one maid on our walk, and she bowed her head respectfully as we passed.

"Good Afternoon, Ashen One," she told me quietly.

"Thank you," I told her, then turned back to Edan. He was smiling.

"Ashen One, huh?" he asked. I nodded. "I used to be called that. Before Mistress found my name." He paused, now sad.

Edan was referring to when he had lost his powers and become human. After a human knows an Ashling's name, the Ashling becomes human as well. He no longer could speak to flames, conjure them out of air, or make them do his bidding. He could no longer control fire, and change into a fire-bird when needed. He was no longer an Ashling.

All because the Mistress had gotten him to tell her his name.

**************************************************

Ok, that's the end of my post! Your character can be human, Ashling, or you can invent another kind of person/creature. :)

Here's my bio:

Name: unknown

Species: Ashling

Age: 14 human years

Appearance: long black hair, pale skin, grey eyes, fairly short in height.

Other: Her parents died, and she was found and sold off to "Mistress", a wealthy Dutchess. "Ashling" is higher in rank than a servant in Mistress' house, but lower than Mistress. Mistress shows her off at parties like an exotic pet, and "Ashling" hates it. She's been planning an escape.

Clarissa-

I swam upstairs as fast as I could. I just broke out of my cell and helped Shadow. I also told Shadow to get Ashling, even though she might get caught. Thoughts raced in my head about being a princess; it all came back to me now. I would sing for the royal court and put a smile on the faces. I miss my parents. I wonder where they are now. Suddenly the creature comes and I swim faster then ever. But she then tightly grabs my arm. "What are you doing?!?!" it says. "I have something to tell you. The mistress that you live with knows me. We met once. She thinks I am her bodyguard because he jumped in the water right when I came out. She thinks she hired the creature by hiring him, but all he did was jump in the water." "How do you know all of this?" I ask."A crystel ball .now.since you were bad little princess,it is time to do what i did to your parents!!!!!!BWA HAHAHA!!!!"It say. "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" I scream.

"Darius," I call out, "Have you killed that mergirl yet?"

"What are you talking about?" he asks in reply.

"Well, you're the tentacled one who I want to kill Clarissa," I reply, "I told you to kill Clarissa's parents through my telepathic connection with you."

"I'm not the tentacled one and we don't have a telepathinc  connection, Ma!" he shouts at me.

"Darius, I am not your mother, you are my bodyguard," I remind him.

"Ma, you're going crazy," he says as he storms out the door.  He mutters, "I can't believe she forgot I am her son."

So it looks like no one is doing this anymore because no one posted for a long time, but I'm going say this to make sure this thread doesn't die!

Clarissa-

The creatue took me to a room. The room had a huge brick table in the middle, jars full of colorful stuff, and this time, the room was underwater. I was still screaming as she took me to the brick table. She then put me on top of it and chained me to it. It got a potion. "DRINK IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" it said. I tried my best not to, but she shoved it into my mouth. It made me feel weak. I was pushing as hard as a could to get out of those chains. Suddaly, a bright light went in the room. The creature yelled, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" Then I floated up and I had some kind of power in my hands. I shot at the creature and it fell down. I don't know if it was dead though. Only the royal family had powers. I swam out of the room and caught up with Shadow. She stopped running and I stopped swimming. I saw that she didn't get Ashling yet. "What happened?" she asked. "I was swimming...and then the creature caught me then I.............." I said out of breath. I fell down to the floor.I  saw everthing blearing and I heard Shadow say, "Clarissa!" Then my eyes shut.

Shadow-

Clarissa’s eyes suddenly glazed over and she fell to the floor.

“Clarissa?!” I knelt next to the girl. Her blond blue streaked hair lay in a pillow like heap under her head.

I put my ear to her chest. I could here the weak beating of the overworked heart.

“This can’t be happening,” I muttered to myself.

I normally had a plan. The shadows usually guided me, helped me. Now I was alone. By myself in some sea castle under the sea.

I couldn’t carry Clarissa AND save Ashling at the same time.

My eyes wandered to Clarissa’s mergirl body again. It shimmered very lightly.

Time was running away from me.

I shoved my long dark arms under the girl’s light body. She let out a small sigh. With Clarissa in my arms, I made my way to the wall.

I studied the room. My plan wouldn’t work… There weren’t any…-Wait! There! Somewhere near the corner. A shadow was cast by a protruding wall.

I ran as best I could and set Clarissa under the shadow. “Wait here,” I told her, though I knew her ears wouldn’t hear me.

Then I made my way to the next cell or shall I say, Ashling’s cell.

The sight in front of my eyes was shocking. It almost knocked my breath away.

Ashling lay in front of the bars. Her hands looked as if they’d wanted to grasp them, but it had failed and she had fainted an inch in front of them.

“Ashling? Can you hear me?”

Normally when I was near Ashling I could feel the warmth, and a burning glow only seen by my eyes was there. Now all I felt was cold; even her body looked cold and motionless.

Another shadow loomed at the edge of the cell. I put my foot into it, and in a moment felt the cool home feeling of darkness.

One more step into the light, and I could get Ashling. I dragged her limp arms with me. I followed the labyrinth of shadows as best Icould. Finally I stood before Clarissa’s body.

With Ashling next to me and Clarissa in my arms, I wrenched the last bit of power from under my fatigue and said: “ Guide us.”

The shadows melted into a path, and we flew away from the castle and out into the ocean.

My eyes closed.

Starting on August 18th, I'll be gone for three to four weeks. I probably won't be able to post, but when I can I'll try to keep this at the top!

Ashling--

I woke up on the shore near Mistress's house, almost exactly where we had been nearly 2 days ago, when Clarissa had been pulled under the water by the creature. The moon was bright in the sky, giving barely enough light to see by. Shadow lay curled up under a willow tree nearby, where the moon's light didn't reach her. Clarissa, her tail having by now turned back into legs, was  sprawled out on the sand. I went over to her, feeling my strength starting to return. I tried to conjure a bit of fire, but couldn't. I sighed, then lay down again to sleep.

Before I could fall asleep, however, a voice came into my head. It was a voice that I had heard before and was familiar with. Adrea. My twin sister, killed  by humans many year ago, when we were both little girls. Ever since then I heard her voice, calling out to me to join her where she was. She called me by name. I always woke up scared, thinking that my name spoken in her voice would cause something horrible to happen.

Isa-NO!!!!! I would yell to her in my mind before she could say more than the first syllable.

At the moment Ashling, Clarissa and Shadow have escaped from some underwater thing because Mistress wanted to find out Clarissa's secret or wanted to kill her. That's it... Basically.

Shadow-

I woke up in the shadows of a large tree. I could see the moonlight shimmering on the water.

My clothes were damp, almost wet. I should have been shivering, but no, I was happy in the cold of my shadows.

“Ashling?” I called. My voice sounded horse and out of use.“Clarissa?”

I noticed Clarissa’s shimmering body near the water.

Ashling’s body lay a few feet away.

I looked for a shimmer of warmth, but there was nothing. I tooka deep breath, and moved onto the moonlit beach.

I glided to Ashling’s motionless body. I could see her ches trise with small breaths.

“Ashling?” I turned her light body, and stroked the hair from her face.

“Adrea?” Her eyelids fluttered. “No! Adrea! Don’t go!” She suddenly sat bolt upright, and stared at me with her grey eyes.

“Who’s Adrea?” I asked softly.

Ashling buried her face in her hands, and her shoulders shook with sobs.

“Shadow?”

“Yes.”

“My sister--Adrea--she’s calling me. She wants me to join he rin the Spirit World, and I-I don’t know what to do.” Ashling’s voice broke.

“Ashling! You can’t leave! Your time has not yet come!”

“How do you know?”

“I live in shadows, friend. I can sense when your time has come. Your beautiful light is almost burned out, but if we can make a fire…” I noticed old wood lining the beach. I gathered it, and Ashling started to try and make a fire. But she seemed too weak.

“Think of Adrea. She will help you,” I coaxed. After numberless tries, Ashling managed to throw a spark at the fire.

She moved closer to it. The color slowly came back to her face. I looked at the sea, and felt the light on my back.

“What shall we tell Mistress?” Ashling wondered to herself.

I look up. “I don’t know.”

After I got over my brief memory sickness, I had taken to looking outside at the beach, hoping they would return and save me from my son.  He has been hating me for letting myself forget he is not only my bodyguard.  One day, I look outside and see Shadow and Ashling building a fire, while Clarissa, unconscious, lies nearby.  I run to them.  "Save me from my son!" I shout at them.  They just look at me.  "Get Darius to do it," Shadow whispers.  "You don't understand," I tell them frantically, "He is my son."  "We can't help you," Ashling tells me, "We have other problems.  I sigh and make a desicion.  As Clarissa wakes up, I tell them, "You are free."

Clarissa-

My heart was pounding when I woke up. I noticed mistriss there thinking, Where did she come from? I hear her say I'm free! I am so happy, but I feel sad because I don't know what to do. I could look for my parents, but they might be so far away. Mistriss walks away ,and I try to go underwater, even though I am somewhat out of breath. Shadow walks over and pulls my arms saying, "Clarissa! Clarissa! Don't go under!" "Why?"I say."Why? I am a princess who has gone missing! My mom and dad are down there somewhere and they aren't helping my people, knowing that all of us are in grave danger! Even you and Ashling are in trouble! In the room where she took me I saw potions and one of them said "Human Potion" which means she could come up there and take you and Ashling when you least expect it, looking like a nice person, but then drown you and take all of your powers! I-" "Clarissa you are going crazy! Nothing is going to happen!" she said. "Listen to me! I know what I saw! The royal family has powers and that means I can sense when bad things will happen to who! I have to go down and  stop that thing and find my parents! If I die in the process, I will die doing what's right! Trust me!!! "I say. "Clarissa, don't go under. I don't want you to die! I would miss you! You and Ashling are like the only friends I have and trust, and you guys mean like family to me, which means everything! Please don't go under!" she says. "I'll think about it,"I reply. Then I get out of the water and hug Shadow. Ashling sees us and comes and hugs us too. "Please don't leave!" says Ashling.

Shadow-

The suddenness of being free and having a friend leave is overwhelming. Clarissa and I walk over to Ashling.

“I-I don’t know what to do.” Clarissa begins to sob. “This decision is too hard! I can’t leave you, but my parents are waiting.”

“Don’t cry, Clarissa.” Ashling tries to comfort the mergirl.

“You don’t have to stay with us…,” I begin to say.

“But I WANT to.” Clarissa shakes her head sadly.

“You can leave, but I think we must do something before that.”

Clarissa and I both stare at Ashling.

“We must free the rest.”

“The rest?” Clarissa asks. “We have already been freed.”

“Yes, but what about all the other prisoners in our kingdom?”

“You mean we should go and convince them to leave.”

“We have to convince there masters to set them free or… Or I don’t know, but I just feel like we need to do it.”

“Well, then, let us go.” I say.
