 Role Playing Story

Heya, I'm going to try something new in the Inkwell, (Hoping it isn't breaking any rules.) It's called fourm role-playing. Bassically, it's like a story with many different authors. Everyone makes a character in the world, and we take turns posting the story out. There are just a few rules, otherwish you can just jump in.

1. No taking control of other people's characters.

This is common sense, please make sure you stick to controlling your charrie and your charrie only.

2. No making an all powerful charrie.

No making any charries who can destroy an entire city with a clap of their hands, kay? Again, common sense.

3. Have fun!

Self explanitory. ^-^

Let's get this thing started!

Xelix yawned, as he put his feet up on his desk. Another boring day at the Mage's Guild. Another day of deskwork. It was tedious work, having to sit at the desk, day after day, answering all questions applicants had. He had been promised adventure, not a desk job when he applied. He suspected it had to do with his age- 15, in the bigwig's opinion, was too young to go out and defeat the beasts that prowl the land at night. After all, they were only kids, right? Well, this 'kid' was very proficiant in all kinds of water magic, and could easilly knock out an un-prepared foe with a simple swipe of hardened water, which also doubled as a shield against attacks. Still, the pay was decent, and three rectangular meals a day and a place to sleep weren't anything to complain about, so life was pretty good.

He heard a small 'mew' as something brushed against his legs. He smiled at his small calico cat, Ala, who jumped on his lap and began purring cheerfully. "Well, at least one of us is happy....." Xelix yawned, stroking Ala on her head. He glanced upstairs. It was still morning, so most of the mages were still asleep in their rooms, and no one was sitting in front of the fire, (It was mid-winter) and studying some new latest spell. It was quiet, and Xelix liked it that way.

((Doormat! I think you posted before mine showed up... which is why she wasn't sprawled all over the floor when the Archmage answered the door. Oops! *sheepish grin* We can pretend she got up before the door opened... or something. Thanks for your help!))

((It's hard to do roleplaying when my character is a recluse person. I'll either have to bring her out, or make another. Also Kit Kat, it doesn't matter, because you see, stars wink in and out like nobody's business, what with all the illegal magic practitioners, plus the legal ones. Makes things very difficult for astronomers.))

Anara was jerked from sleep by a thump above her. She lay there for a moment, wondering what it was, and then shrugged it off, and decided to go back to sleep. But she couldn't do so. It normally took her mere moments, but she just couldn't sleep today. After a few minutes, she sat up, and pulled one of the books she stored up here toward her. Creating a small light, she opened it, unaware of the danger of doing magic directly below the place where the archmage, awake and alert, stood. Only the presence of the archmage's niece saved her from certain discovery.

She read for a few minutes, but she simply wasn't getting anything out of the book. Eventually she just gave up, putting the book back down. Then, having nothing else to do, she finally turned over and crawled out of her hiding spot. She had never seen much of the mage's guild in the daylight. And she could always pretend to be a new maid.

((Sorry for not specifically hitting the add a comment button. Couldn't find it. This roleplay looks fun. Tell me if I accidentally PP. Does describing another character or doing small dialogue within characters count? If so, disregard.))

Jinni Francis hurried down the crowded streets of Alcigam, her skirts swishing around her bare feet. Her being a peasant, no one stopped her to offer a coin or two, perhaps volunteer to carry one of her many parcels- not that she'd have accepted, for she might have been robbed, but it was the thought that counted. She didn't expect it, though- this part was all crowded with Mages' wives hustling arround, the pictures of the perfect housewife, and Mages' children, striding stately about exchanging sophisticated words about politics and literature- politics and literature, imagine! thought Jinni, who had no time for such trivial things, racing home to feed her sick old mother and little brother.

Jinni, a sixteen-year-old girl, didn't think much of the rich, and she detested their inexplicable habit of ransacking her house with demands of yet more wealth. Why bother, she thought, you snobs are so opulent anyhow? For that was her opinion of the lot of them- snobs. That summed up her thoughts on the matter. Currently.

Apparently she was weaving through the throng a little too hastily, despite her expertise concerning such things, because she nearly knocked someone over and spilled her packages. She fell flat on the muddy paved road and shrieked femininely. Any second now, she expected an intolerant or mocking, "Tha's whatcha get fer blunderin' 'round like such, wench, er cantcha see where yer goin'?" or something to that accord, but upon looking up was instead greeted by the most charming face she had ever seen. A mop of black hair, deepsey brown eyes like melted chocolate, and a smile just as sweet. She stared in disbelief.

"Oh, gosh, sorry," said the boy, who looked to be about her age, but much more well-to-do. "I'm Xeliex. Did I hurt you, maiden?"

And then, wonder of wonders, he extended a hand to help her up. She nearly swooned. However, she managed to choke out, "Oh, no, sir, thank you, I'm fine."

"What is your name?"

"Jinni, Jinni Francis. Who are you? Other than Xeliex, I mean."

"Oh, just a secretary," he said nonchalantly. "Nobody too important."

Jinni nearly said something to the flirtacious, nonsensical tone of, "I think you're important enugh," or smething equally quixotic, but held her tongue.

Of course, even the most tomboyish female has difficulty doing this when the stars startv exploding right before her eyes. This tends to provoke varied degrees of screaming, yelling, and fainting. Another shriek in Jinni's case cut it. Vanishing stars kind of scare anybody, especially superstitious folks like Jinnni who immediately assumed that the World was ending.

((Or are the stars NOT supposed to start disappearing? Didn't quite get that. If not, due to Mages always fiddling with that sort of thing, assume that Jinni is unused to that sort of thing, which is why she was so terrified. Sometimes the back-and-forth loses me, so I'm not sure if I've got everything right. Thanks for this cool idea. Fun.)

That's a great idea Kipin.

Mexic left her umcle's office and started down the stairs to her room.  She had learned a lot about her uncle while she was up there talking to him.  He didn't ask her a lot of questions.  But that is probably because he knows a lot of it she thought.  Rounding a corner she crashed into another maid.  That is the second time today that I have ruined a maid's day by making them drop what their carrying she thought as she lay on the ground.

"Oh I'm sorry" cried the maid " I wasn't payign attention to where I was going"

"No it's totally my fault" said Mexic scrambling to her feet "I'm know for being clumsy."

"Hey, I've never noticed you before" the maid said "who are you?"

"I'm Mexic.  I am an orphan and I'm also...." Mexic trailed off.  For some reason she didn't want to tell this girl she was the Archmage's neice.

"You are" the girl prompted.

"Um, Ah.. Ah.." Mexic scrambled to find an explanation "a new maid!"

"Well I'm Alessandra. Welcome to the Mage's guild. Do you want a guid.  I know how it feels to be new and how hard it is to find your way around."

"Sure, that would be great" Mexic said "But don't you have work to do?"

"Oh, Morgan won't mind" said Alessandra airily "that is if we don't get caught"

As the two girls started down the corrider Mexic thought that she might have found her first friend in this place.

Hi, guys,

Sorry this is so random, but I'm really clueless about a good many aspects of technology. I've got NO IDEA how to post a story or RRR that I might want constructive criticism for or to start. Anybody feel like taking pity on me? *puppy dog eyes and forelorn sigh*

I'd be happy to help you, but could you ask some specific questions?

Thanks, Lena. For instance... how exactly do you post something? Is there a "post" button?

Well, you already know how to comment, and that's good! To post something, you go to the little icons for each category. For example, in 'This Month' they have a picture of an issue of Cricket, and beneath it says something like Click Here to Talk about a Month's Issue. For Chirp at Cricket it has a picture of a buggy and says Click Here to Talk about Cricket. See what I mean? Hope this helps!

"Calm down, calm down," said Xeliex. "A Mage must be in a foul mood, probably Lucifer...."

"Who?" Jinni pounced on him.

"Oh, Lucifer Eggwald, Vicemage," said Xeliex, "he's probably burnt his dinner again- insists on making it himself being so afraid of poisoning... though he's nowhere near as good as the cook Coco." Then he gasped and put a hand over his mouth, realizing he'd just made a fatal blunder and revealed himself.

"How do you know these things?" asked Jinni suspiciously, and then she too gasped. "You're a spy! You are a spy from Alnoitidart and you are trying to ruin our govornment and our country!" She pulled her hand away from Xeliex's in disgust and fear. "How dare you assume that you can get information of of me by trying to befriend me! I thought that perhaps you were just a nice intelligent merchant's son, but you're a treasonous SPY!" She let out one of her famous shrieks and took in a deep breath. Then she launched into a tirade.

"SPY! SPY! SPY FROM ALNOITIDART! THAT ONE, RIGHT THERE, TRYING TO GLEAN INFORMATION ABOUT OUR GOVORNMENT! CALL THE MAGES! CALL THE POLICE CHIEF! SPY! SPY! SPY!"

A few burly men shoved their way through the crowd and grabbed Xeliex's arms. Jinni didn't stay to see whether or not he struggled or what became of the wretch. she gathered up her bundles and fled to the haven of her home, weeping.

Yes! I got it! Thanks, Lena... but I found the button I was looking for! So everybody may disregard my unintellectual questions about this button and continue with Dmboogie's (though I guess it's everybody's now) fascinating role-playing story! Thanks!

OK... I'm not sure when... just let me know.

P.S. It's very weird to be called Mary. My name is Mary Elizabeth and I go by Mary Liz. I just type Mary W.

Larco brought the mushrooms to the Vicewald.  "Sir," he stammered, "for the incantation"...  Talking to the fearsome Lucifer always tied Larco's tongue. He still vividly remembered the time Lucifer set the firesnakes on him. Larco wished he could rise above his servent rank, but his parents could not afford his schooling.

"Be quick about it, boy! This could be the greatest opportunity of my lifetime. A chance to snare the Archmage's spot once and for all." As Lucifer spoke, Larco gulped down fear. The Archmage! Larco's idol! He knew he had to stop Lucifer, but the mage's rage was to be feared.

When he was alone, Larco tied a message to the outstretched leg of his pigeon Ryma. His heart beat as he knew he was the one who could save the Archmage.

(This is my first time; I hope it goes well.)
