Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ Power of Hoof

*A Travel Guide to Northwest Kyngdom That is Totally Not Top Secret and Has Nothing to Do with Anything Important

So you want to take a trip to Northwest Kyngdom? Wonderful! Pack your bags, grow an extra layer of fur, and hop onto the Badger Express, the high-speed badger-drawn train that will carry you northward.

Travel tip: The Badger Express has a wonderful dining car that serves a creamy, piping-hot soup called Pinesüppe: root vegetables simmered for hours with pine needles and topped off with a rich drizzle of sap.

Once you disembark, take a moment to notice how your breath turns into an intricately-patterned fog in the air. There is a magic to northwest Kyngdom that no one can explain--almost everything here, no matter how dangerous, is aesthetically pleasing. Gaze at the fields of soft, untouched snow, the evergreens glimmering with icicles so elaborate that you would have sworn they were carved by artists, and the aurora borealis that dance through the sky like omens of a better life. This is the home of Regina, the Silver Reindeer, who is…just your average reindeer!

Travel tip: Pack light but warm! Bring lots of high-protein snacks--we recommend grubs! Regina is the guardian of Hoof!

Though Regina looks so noble so as to be unapproachable, she is actually very friendly, and loves showing newcomers around her land. She lives in a mansion (nobody said reindeer weren’t materialistic!) that she named Jökull, the Old Norse word for ice. It is a place of good cheer, where the super-sweet juice of the local Winter Black Cherry flows year-round (delicious over ice or warmed up!). Zephyra loves to spend her holidays here.

Travel tip: Examine Regina closely when she walks. Three of her feet are shod in beautiful mother-of-pearl horseshoes that glimmer when she walks, but the fourth bears only a rusty horseshoe. Look closely at that horseshoe. I think you know what it is. Don’t you?

Regina will warn you about the forest of blue juniper trees that look so appealing and smell like Christmas on a platter. This is the Decoy Forest, and its pull is strong. When you walk through it--which you should never do--you will see what you want to see. Lost loves will cry out to you from the trees. Your mother, as a teenager, may appear, begging you to be her friend. Ignore them all. Have another mug of Winter Black Cherry cider. Enjoy your stay.

Travel tip: The pull of the Decoy Forest? B.I.G. feels it, too. When Cornelia Hornshaw stares into the Forest, she sees an image of the Fourth Power. But she still doesn’t know where it’s located. She’s heading there now, though. Will anybody stop her?

I start to see people in towards the front of the train crying, and yelling names.

"Shelby, why Shelbie!" screams one bluejay.

"What's going on?!" I yell over the din of the sobbing passengers.

"We're entering Decoy Forest!" shouts a tiger sitting near me, "But that doesn't make sense, we aren't supposed to be going anywhre near there-"

"Someone's hijacked the train." Icy, Ronan and I all say in unison, right before I see them.

"Mom? Dad? Is that really you?" I say. I see them standing in front of me, my father holding my sobbing mom in his arms. They look exactly as they did when I last saw them, my mother's raven hair tied in a losse bun, her glasses resting on her nose. My father's messy brown hair falling in his eyes like it always used too. Both wear lab coats.

"You did this to her," said Dad, "You let her- and me- die. You killed us, Maria."

"No- no, it can't be-"

Then, they were lunged on by a gryphon. The one I released when I first escaped the SOCS's labs.

"No!" I sobbed. Then, another figure appeared out of the fog now encircling the train car.

"Daisy? Little Daisy, is that you?"

"Big Brother? Are you there?"

"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?" Says the Bear-Man, smiling at me. He holds out his arms for a hug, and I brush away my tears and run towards him. Before I can reach him, he's gunned down.

"What? No!" I scream, "Whoever did this, I will kill you!"

"I did." Says the next figure. That's it. I lunge for it. I close my eyes, ripping and shredding the body, until all I hold in my arms is a dead shell of the former person. I finally open my eyes, looking at the face of the person in my arms.

"M- Mina?"

I've killed Mina. My best friend.

Author's Note

Everyone that was harmed/killed in this post was a Decoy generated by the magic of the forest. None of them were actually killed, unless they were already dead.

Great, they're all together. He told me to take the life of the bird girl. Shadow, I think he said. Should I take the lives of the others.

No, no, one at a time, I think.

I silently take my gun, cock it and aim it for fire.

Suddenly, the coach master roars loudly. I jump back, and my head slams into the side of the wooden cart, and Ronan grabs at me. I hear Shadow loose a frightened gasp.

"Bandits." The writing appears on my cypher screen. I shudder, and get ready to flee or fight. There's no way I'm getting captured again.

Draw their fire. I run out of the train, and launch into the air. Then, I fly just low enough to be aimed at, and make sure to notice details.

Sorry guys if I am joining in a bit late...

I crouch in the snowdrift, feeling the cold slowly seep into my skin. I tighten the buckles of my parka, then sit down and wait.

Finally the train comes chugging into view, and I slowly stand up, ready to flag it down.

All of a sudden then train jerks down a new path, disappearing into the forest. Muttering under my breath, I get up and run towards it. That was my only way of getting to where I needed to go.

I see a person with red wings fly over the trees. It looked like Elliot.

Since when did he get wings?

I run to the forest edge and then stop. Something didn't feel right about this place. I hear whispers in my ear, but there was no one there.

The Decoy Forest.

I had heard about the place when I had first signed up for this mission. It supposedly showed you the things that you wanted the most.

Just ignore them. They are illusions. Whatever you see, just know that it is all fake. Even if it shows you them.

Taking a deep breath, I run into the trees.

"shadow! shadow, knock out of it! Watch out!"

Icy's words don't reach me until the bullet does. I manage to move just at the right time so that it doesn't peirce my heart, but only just.

"Icy!" i yell

"Don't worry- Oh My Kyngdom, that's a lot of blood." She calls for Ronan. Then, "Do you still have healing powers?"

"Only one way to find out," I say, "But first, we need to evacuate the train."

Okay, I've changed my mind, for some reasons, the biggest one being that if I pretended to side with Catastrophe, it wouldn't go well. So I'm going to say that I was with Shadow the whole time. Hope you don't mind too much.

This is great. The perfect combo of bandits and Decoy Forest. Elliot flies out to attack them, but then the illusions start. I can already tell that Shadow is affected immediately, just by the way she's talking to herself. I head towards her, pushing past the mist that creates my parents and some dead friends from my old village. I've been through this before, the Forest really needs to try something new, because I don't actually want my past life. It's just something that could have happened.

"Shadow?" I shout.

The train is filled with loud chaos, between the people and animals shouting and the wind howling from the open windows the bandits leave.

"Oh my Claaws, what is happening to my head?!" she exclaims.

"It's the Forest!" I hear Icy shout.

"Everyone needs to calm down and think past it!" I yell.

Then the roof crashes down and bandits fill the car.

I hide the baby hipogriff under my seet I pray he'll stay, I whisper I will portect you my little one I will lay down my life for you. I climb to the top of the train and pull out my dart gun (it has sleep darts). But I dont see a enemy I see, I almost calapse to the deck I see my brothers and sister and me playing together we were playing tag now since they were dragon and I was a human the got way ahead of me and I could not cach them soon the ran deeper into the woods and I followed. Then came the hunters I (not the decoy) started shot sleep darts at them but it was to late my brothers and sisters were dead.

Oh, sorry everyone. I just realized my most recent post was inaccurate because when I posted it, the newer comments weren't up yet, so I'll do another post that goes with those, but I can't right now.

I grab my longsword, and swing at the first bandit I see. Then, I see a horde run at me. Hey! I deafeated part of Jaaws soul, why not these guys? I aim, and fire a blast of energy. There are more coming, and I have not recuporated, but I slide the leader along the ice into the decoy forest, and he calls out to everybody else. Sadly, I fell in to.

Three things line the walls: the finished version of the gun I am working on back at camp, the resistance winning while I kill Jaaws, and SailHAven in the sky. Then, the images change to me and Sprocket, Trillian, shadow, Alexander R., Poe Allen, Alexandria, and even Octavia talking together, agreeing perfectly.

This is what I want. I should walk in further...

Then I go feral. I lung at the bandit neerest me, and bite his arm. It brings back concisness. I spit out the blood. I am a Highborne. I will eat normal food untill we fight Jaaws. I run out of the woods, and relize the bandits are attracted by the amound of shiney red things I wear or hold. I fly low, and slowly, over the decoy forest, looking straigh ahead. Then, I swoop back, and I fly back to the resistance base. I need to finish that gun.

Hey guys! Do you mind if I jump in?

~Anwen~

Satchel slung across my narrow shoulders, I sit in a surprisingly comfortable seat, bumping and lurching a bit, but it's only natural for a train. Especially one pulled by badgers. I take out my sketchbook, one of the very few possessions I own, and begin to sketch the beautiful view of the mountains outside my window. The train lurches again, this time so hard I drop my sketchbook, and I hear someone gasp on the other side of the train car. Then I notice a few people staring at me, and blushing, I bend to pick up my things, only to be jerked off balance to the floor. I can feel my cheeks burning as I sit back up and take my seat. I've lost the charcoal I was using to sketch, not to mention ruined my drawing, so I quietly put away the sketchbook and try to aim my focus elsewhere. "Anwen?" I hear a familiar voice say. "Icy!" I knew that voice anywhere. I stood up to embrace my sister. "What are you doing here?" She asks, finally letting me go.

"I'm on a search for the Power of Hoof. I'm a PowerFriend, after all. I wasn't just going to sit around and watch it be taken!"

"Me too! Why don't you sit with Ronan, Shadow, and I?"

I dutifully take my seat beside my sister and her friends, and can't  help blushing, knowing the these strangers must have also seen my clumsiness the minutes before. "This is my sister, Anwen. You've heard me talking about her before." Icy says to the aforementioned Ronan and Shadow. I had heard of Ronan, an acquaintance of my best friend, Moonshadow. But Shadow, apparently some sort of mutant with wings, was new. "Hi!" I say in the most cheerful voice I can muster. I'm never too good with human interaction, I think dismally. "Hey Anwen!" Shadow and Ronan say simultaneously. "Did you guys feel that lurch a few minutes ago?" Ronan asks. I nod vigorously. Then Icy looks at her FaFA communications watch, then back to us, and the fear in her eyes almost sends me over the edge. "Bandits." She says. My heart skips a beat.

~{}~

Sorry if I controlled anyone too much. And again, I hope it's okay that I jump into the story like this. If not, please disregard this post.

"Anwen, right? Icy's sis? Nice to meet you." She shakes my outstretched hand, but she doesn't look into my eyes. She's staring at my wings.

"You're wondering about the wings, aren't you?" I ask

"What-no!" she says, blushing, "I just-"

"Don't worry, I get that a lot," I say, "It was an expiriment. My parent's worked for BIG, and when the SOCS took over they were looking for people to expiriment on. I was already an orphan by then, so I was an easy target."

"Oh."

"Yeah, it's okay though. You're sister found me, and the Resisance is great. I'm accepted now," I shrug.

"Guys," says Mina, running towards us, "We need to leave. Now."

"When did you get here?"
