Catastrophe strikes!!

Catastrophe strikes!!

So, those of you who are looking at recent threads know that someone new has been selected to play Catastrophe: me! (Catsclaw, by the way. Now I have two names beginning in "Cat"! Hey, Catastrophe should be a Dolor Felis! anyway, back on track...

So, this is a new thread for Catastrophe and his minions. Question: Catastrophe has the Sword, right? Does he have the Shield or Crown? Also, where are they? And did they get their powers back? Also what are their powers, besides the whole "He who wields the Sword, Shield, and Crown shall be king of the Kyngdom" thing?

I know nothing about the three artifacts, crap.

Maybe I shouldnt've become Catastrophe... Ah, what the heck.

~Catastrophe

The boy kind sat upon his throne, something he had recently comissioned, fashioned from a bone of an ancient Titan. He felt the hilt of the the Sword, his fingers caressing the pommel of the ancient blade. When a skinny boy -a messenger, from the warfront, from the looks of him- entered the room.

"M-my lord." said the boy, prostrating himself fearfully before Catastrophe, "I bring news from the Fourth division."

"Yes, boy?" Catastrophe's face and voice betrayed no emotion, bland as the rations the army ate each day. "Good news, I hope?"

"N-no, I'm afraid not, Milord." the boy seemed even more fearful now. Perhaps he had heard horror stories of what Catastrophe did to messengers who brought bad news. "The seventeenth cohort has been decimated by a small rebellion that wasn't expected to fight back. The centurion was the only survivor. Milord, the captain, at my father the Tenth centurion's urging, has executed the leaders of the impromptu rebellion, and has conscripted the remaining finghting-worthy men and woman."

Catastrophe had yet to betray any emotion. "You said your father is the Tenth centurion?"

"Y-yes, milord."

"All right. Well, I'm sure you know what I do to bearers of bad news." The boy gulped, and nodded.

"D-do what you wish m-milord," said the boy, though his face was pale. "And I will s-say no p-protest, for y-you are m-my lord and rul-ruler."

Catastrophe nodded, stood, and pulled the Sword from its sheath, bringing it whistling dwon towards the boy's terrified face. True to his word, however, the boy did not move a muscle as the Sword neared his neck.

It stopped barely a centimeter away from the boy's neck. The boy exhaled and raised his head in shock as Catastrophe slid his blade back into its sheath and smiled warmly. "Boy, I know military generals who would have tried to escape, but you are braver than them. Starra!" he added loudly to the on-duty footservant (he had killed the last one). "Find me a messenger and tell them to deliver the following message to the captain of the fourth division: 'the Centurion of the Fourth cohort is to be executed. Tell the Centurion of the Tenth that his son has been promoted to my personal messenger.'"

The boy looked elated and disbelieving. "Th-Thank you! My lord is ever just and merciful!"

"Now boy, what is your name, I can't keep calling you 'boy', now can I?"

"Tarro. Tarro, your highness."

So, did I do anything wrong in roleplaying Catastrophe there? I felt like I did a good job of sending competing messages of "Brutal but strange sense of 'mercy'"? I'd like some feedback!

That was really good!

Catastrophe has the sword. The crown's power has been drained into Ocean. There was a riddle thing about who each artifact was destined to be drained into. I think it was decided that Moonshadow got the sword power, Trixie W. (Who I think is now an npc) got the shield's power, and Ocean got the crown power.

Trixie has the shield right now and the Resistance is attempting to obtain it. They want to steal the sword from Catastrophe but haven't attempted to do so yet.

Jaaws and Catastrophe communicate frequently. They wouldn't right now, because Jaaws is busy dealing with Jokull.

Here's some more information you might want to know --

Some of Catastrophe's main bases are:

Jokull: It's far up north. It was recently attacked by the Sanukan army. The old Head General, Grimm the lizard anthro, was killed by the traitor Tsuki Natsu, a homo Aquarius. Caligo Cendaren is the new Head General. (Tale: Two Kyngdoms thread)

Bleak Peak Base: The old BIG base, now rebuilt with the help of BIG, SOCS, and Catastrophe's army. It was raided by a wolf. General Jantu, Lihim, and General Ajana are there, inspecting the base. It's run by two scientists. (It was raining thread)

Catastrophe's Castle: Located in the ruins of Kyngdomopolis, the old capitol of Kyngdom, back when Kyngdom was a monarchy which was... I think, 5000 years ago. (Kyngdom is currently ruled by Nobyls, a select few group of families. After the war, the Resistance will instate the Council. Every species on Kyngdom will have their own ruler, or Council member.) It's been polished up, and is now Catastrophe's main base. Unlike the other two bases, the Resistance, FaFA, Sanukan Army, and Red Paw are unaware of its location. The Nocturnal may know where it is.

Sword, Shield, and Crown

Crown-- The crown didn't have any powers in its crown form, but Ocean now can manipulate and control a magic golden dust.

Shield-- Can defend against anything, I believe, except for the Powers.

Sword-- Can cut anything except the Powers.

I'm going to join in, if you don't mind.

Admiral Tayemno Vidtinok ~~~

The Admiral sat in a comfortable chair in her quarters. There was a fire burning, and she read a letter from Jokull.

To Admiral Vidtinok

As you may already know, since we've informed Lord Catastrophe as well, there have been some problems at Jokull. For quite some time we have been steadily running low on supplies. Ever since the attack from the Sanukans, are supplies have been depleted. Not only that, but there was a traitor. She is named Tsuki Natsu. She is a Homo Aquarius. She was one of the recruits --you should already have her files. We've placed a bounty on her head and believe she might be with the Sanukans. Unfortunately, she murdered Head General Grimm. We desperately need more weapons and recruits. However, we have an important update--we've sent a letter to Lord Catastrophe as well about this. But we've lost possession of the drum.

Head General Cendaren Caligo.

The Admiral cursed under her breath. Jokull had lost the drum--the cursed fools! Didn't they realize how important that drum was?

Tayemno wrote a quick response, then sent it with one of Catastrophe's genetically engineered, self destructing black doves.

She stood up and exited the room, searching for an adequate messenger boy. "You!" She snapped . The boy stopped in their tracks to look at her. "Tell Lord Catastrophe I wish to speak about the demise of a certain Tsuki Natsu, and her traitor friends."

(If Catastophe's base here doesn't have gates, just feel free to let me know.

Karthicha~

Karthicha stood just outside the closed gates to Catastrophe's base, waiting. He wasn't quite sure what he was waiting for, but he knew he was waiting for something. Perhaps for the gates to open. Yes, that was it. He was waiting for the gates to open, so he could--
Creeeeeeak.
The gates were opening. No, wait, they were closing again. Why couldn't these people simply make up their minds? Ah, there was a person's sillouhete, behind the closed gates. Cowards.
"Who are you?" called a voice from inside.

Karthicha~

"Who are you?" calls a voice, from inside the closed gates. I growl under my breath. Cowards.
"None of your business," I say out loud. "I wish to speak with your leader, Catastrophe. If he's not here, than whoever's in charge of this base."

As a bit of trivia, Catastrophe's presence can make plants wither. He got that ability on the Oracle thread a while back.

Caligo (from the Jökull base)~

It has been about three weeks since the attack by Sanukans. I am the sole general of Jökull, a position I'd always fancied--but now that the role has been thrust upon me, I despise it.

I despise the insuboordinate recruits who pester me for endorsements. I despise the frigid temperatures, the dank halls, the angry letters from other generals across Kyngdom; I despise the power-hungry rank-climbers drooling after my spot; or, perhaps paranoia has already set in, and I have only been imagining my own death played out in the eyes of every lieutenant-general.

Unlike them, it is not power I seek: I merely wish to keep my own life. And for what...

Jökull was in dire need of reinforcements after the battle, which inflicted heavy casualties. After I found out that the traitors had looted the laboratory, I no longer felt it prudent to take in new recruits. Instead, troops from across Kyngdom were sent in by Catastrophe's order to restock our halls with soldiers. They were already trained. Already loyal. Perhaps not for long, at this rate.

Catastrophe no longer sees Jökull as a safe location. It has outlived its use: the Resistance has had ample time to infiltrate it; it has suffered many attacks; we are up to our ears in corrupt rankholders. It is a useful outpost, but not for valuable items.

In the meantime, Catastrophe has been focusing other forces farther south, in the Grasplands. What little troops I can spare have been sent to hold the Wreath Wall, which extends to the utmost tip of the Grasplands. I have not been informed--yet--of the true reason the Grasplands are so important. Perhaps there will be another council soon.

--------

I posted this here to keep the Catastrophe storyline in one place, and I think Caligo might leave Jokull soon. If Jokull isn't worth paying attention to anymore, Caligo could put a lieutenant general in charge and head somewhere he's more useful.

Tayemno~~

I stride out to the gate, cloak billowing majestically behind me.

"You worthless fool!" I snap at the guard at the gate. "If he's not an enemy, let him in! We can use all the soldiers we can get."

"Of course, so-sorry ma'am," the guard stammers , opening the gate. A lizard like creature steps through. He has scales a bluish black color that match the rainy night. His eyes are narrowed.

"I wish to speak with Catastrophe," He says .

"Catastrophe is busy. You'll talk to me instead ," I reply sharply .

"Very well then," He replies.

"Then get to the point. What do you want?"

Karthicha~

"Then get to the point. What do you want?"
I hiss slightly. "I have heard that Catastrophe could use an assassin, and came to find out if that rumor was true. I am also an adequate fighter if the need arises. I will warn you," I add, eyes glinting, "I dislike being turned down. My skills in murder are sharpened from years of betrayel. If you decide not to accept me, it may very well be your downfall." I smile darkly.

I saw this last night and forgot to respond. Oops.

Tayemno~~

"Hmm. We'll see about that," I reply. "I sincerely doubt your skills will do much against me, and I'm certain they will do nothing to Lord Catastrophe. But that's besides the point. Come in and I'll see if you're actually worthy of joining. I'm the head assassin, so you'll be following my orders."

He follows me inside, eyes glinting. I ignore his obvious rage at my insults and lead him briskly inside the castle.

"I'll admit, it is surprising you managed to find our main base. Not even the Resistance has any clue where it is, and their disgusting spies are climbing all over the place. What's your name?" I say.

"Karthicha."

"Tayemno Vidtinok. Admiral Tayemno Vidtinok."

The rest of our journey through the halls is in silence. Clearly he's not one for useless chatter, something I appreciate in my assassins.

I lead him into training room, and point towards an automaton. The robot is armed with two katanas.

"Select any weapons you wish from the walls. Then you'll fight this robot, which is programmed to kill. Win, and I might just let you join. Remember, I'll be watching everything." With that I leave the room, letting him defend himself. I stand in the hallway and watch from a one-way mirror.

Karthicha~

Tayemno Vidtinok leaves the room. I look after her, thinking about how she'll be watching me. Perhaps there is a peephole in the wall somewhere. Preoccuied, I almost don't notice the robot powering up, and narrowly avoid a fatal wound from one of it's katanas. Even so, it grazes my ribs, leaving a shallow, but stinging cut.
Crouching, I whip my tail at the robot's legs and trip it. It won't hold it for long, but it will buy me some time to get a weapon. By the time the robot is standing again and ready to fight, I have two shurikiens and a heavy metal spear, ready to battle.
The robot runs forward and swings it's katanas, one after the other. I leap and twist out of the way, and a strike from my spear whistles inches from it's arm. For it's size, this robot is fast and skilled. I'll need all of my expertise to beat it.
The robot turns around, but before it attacks I throw my shurikiens to distract it, and begin to climb the wall using the holders for the weapons. I hiss angrily. My abnormally-shaped legs make it diffucult to get a hold on the wall, so I'm climbing using almost solely my arm strength, which will leave me fatigued, and less able to wield my spear correctly. Plus, avoiding the robot while I climb is not easy.
I soon reach the end of the weapons-holders, and cling awkwardly there, with my sword in my left, and non-dominant, hand. I'm beginning to think that i will be lucky simply to escape unscathed from this ordeal. The robot lunges upwards with it's sword, and I dodge clumsily, almost falling.
Falling. That's it. I grip my spear tightly, and brace my foot against a hold. As the robot lunges again, I power upward with both of my legs, jumping into the air, and somersault over the robot's head. Landing just behind it, I quickly drive my spear through it's neck joint, hoping that it's power source is in it's head, so that if I disconnect it the robot will shut down.
I can't believe I'm trusting my awful luck with this, I think, as I twist the spear sharply, and the robot's head pops off it's shoulders. It's eyelights blink and flicker for a moment, and then go dark. At the same time, the body shudders, and then collapses, narrowly missing me. I turn to the door, panting and in pain, but refusing to care for my wound just yet, and wait for Vidtinok to return.

The admiral stands next to me as i see on a screen this assassin. Surprisingly, she seems to be doing moderately well. I finished my meeting a minute ago, and I am now watching this woman survive longer than all the other prospective assassins. Of course, none of that will matter if she dies.

And then, she doesn't. She executes a move i have seen only thrice before in my lives, flipping over the robpt's head and stabbing its neck. She has succeeded.

"Hmmph." Says the admiral.

"Tarro," i say, "See to it that she is given her mission." The boy,  who has rapidly grown more comfortable in my presence, smiles and nods.

"Yes, your supreme highness".

"Good. And, Admiral?"

"Yes?"

"See to it you don't grumble in my presence again. I am the king."

The man blanches. "Y-Yes, Sire."
