Gardens and Goats

---

Yep this is a revival of my old thread.

---

Valerie sat down at the counter of her cafe, Gardens and Goats. Business had been pretty slow lately. Newcomers didn't often drop by Mer, and the whole of Kyngdom seemed to be waiting, in a state of suspense, like the still before a storm.

She shuffled a deck of cards, looking over at Gompers, her goat. He bleated halfheartedly.

Well, hopefully somebody would come by, and spice up life!

Anyone's free to join :D

Does this mean Valerie left the Masquerade, or does this take place beforehand??

Tfileda~

I heard about this new cafe that had just opened in Mer, and since I was around, I decided to drop by. I was bored anyways. The Resistance hadn't given me anything fun to do in a while, so I started heading over there.

I push open the door of Goats and Gardens to be met with the merry chiming of a bell, a grinning purple-haired girl, and a goat. Interesting enough.

"Welcome to the Goats and Gardens cafe! What can I get for you today?”

I take in the girl with her purple hair, silver freckles, and interesting fashion choices, and the decor, which I can’t decide if it’s cute or a bit frivolous. Or both.

“Oh, um… I’ll take the Grasplands coffee and a wildberry scone, thanks,” I say, taking a seat on a sofa patterned with butterflies. The girl bustled back into her kitchen. I take in the cafe. It's small, and looks like not many people have passed through lately. Still, I bet that girl worked hard to fix it up, and I admire that.

She comes back out with my coffee and a scone on a plate. "Thanks," I say, sipping the coffee.

"So," she says, "What brings you to Mer?"

"Oh, I'm just hanging out at one of the bases- Resistance," I add. It doesn't occur to me that this information would be sensitive here. "Anyways I haven't been doing anything interesting."

"Woah, you're with the Resistance?" she asks. "Where you at that flea market fiasco a while back?"

"No, but I wish I had been. It would've been exciting," I say.

~~I'm just testing out this character. I may or may not make her an NPC, just because I have so many Resistance charries.

-Val-

"Hmmm, I'd like to join the resistance," Valerie mused, "It would be an adventure! Business is so slow nowadays, and I could use a little bit of excitement!"

"Could you use a bit of danger as well?" the stranger asked.

"Well . . . not really, nope, danger isn't for me!" Valerie laughed, "But I've got other skills too, you know!"

"What kind of skills?" the stranger asked nonchalantly.

"Hmmm . . . imma butterfly! I can also . . . scam people out of their money I guess? I mean, no, not scam, it's business!" Val said, popping into butterfly form for a split second and then back.

"Ah . . . I see," the stranger said.

"So anyway, what's your name stranger?" Val asked, "I'm Valerie, call me Val."

The shady-looking stranger shrugged. "Call me Tiff," they said, finally.

Probably not their real name, huh.

"Well, nice to meet you, Tiff!" Valerie said cheerfully.

Hope you don't mind, I just think your character probably wouldn't give out their real name :) I can change it if you want.

Tfileda~

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Tiff!" the girl, Val, greets cheerily. I smile at her. I bet she's smart enough to know that isn't my real name. I figured since I already told her  I'm with the Resistance, I could save a General or two from a heart attack by at least using a "code name"- though not a very creative one. Oh well.

I brush the curls away from my face and ask, "Did you do all of this yourself? It looks good."

"I did, thank you! And, it's looking pretty good, if I do say so myself," she added, looking around her cafe with a smile.

"How has it been for you out here?" I ask.

"Oh well." Val sighs. "Business isn't good- I'm sure you know why. It's been hard starting out," she explains. I do feel a little bad for her; she did seem to work hard for this cafe, and her coffee is very good.

"Well, once I get back I'll be sure to tell everyone about this place of yours. I hope it'll help."

"Thank you!" She beams.

~~Sorry, that was short.
