1. If you are doing a song audition, choose a song that is not in the play you are doing.

2. Choose a song that suits you.

3. Socialize with other people. Talk about yourself and build chemistry.

4. Have fun with it.

5. Don't be shy. Give it all you've got!

For song auditions, I would recommend a song from a musical or an older song that has a range.  Even if it isn't your favourite, most older songs show off voices more than modern songs.  Older songs may also appeal to the generally older judges.

Also, for song auditions, even if it isn't specified, prepare a song.  That way, if the information given you did not say you needed to prepare a song, then you will have one instead of thinking off of the top of your head frantically when you thought they would ask for a specific song (like one from the musical or concert you are auditioning for).
